Hi, and yes have done a search and didn't find anything that could help. I have the Tilt and am having trouble sending email. I can receive email but when I try to send I get an error message," The message could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again." I have a Road Runner email account and have set the servers to what they have provided on their site. The account works fine on a PC but once I move to the phone, I can't send. Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try changing the outgoing server to cwmx.com. That worked for the iPhone that I use.
Thanks, that was easy enough. Wonder why the server is different than a desktop. Thanks again.

Guys,
I am having an issue where I can read email but cannot send email. This is a basid (free) Yahoo account.
When sending I get a message saying "....error synchronizing". I have confirmed that my email setting is using MediaNet and I have also confirmed that all of my data connections settings are stock.
Any ideas?
I am using a stock rom AT&T Tilt with no additional programs loaded.
I assume you've specified cwmx.com as your SMTP server?
That fixed it....bztips you da man! Thanks for the help.
Yeah, noob's (including myself) often get hung up on that. You'd think that somewhere somehow the cell phone companies would PROMINENTLY publish their SMTP servers and explain to new users that they have to use that instead of their email account's SMTP server.
I can't send e-mail from one of my e-mail accounts on the phone. The only thing I think that might be an issue is I can't turn off the option "Use the same user name and password for sending e-mail" on the "Outgoing (SMTP) mail server:" screen - it is greyed out with the box checked. Is there a way I can uncheck it. I tried deleting the e-mail account and re-entering all the information, but that didn't help. Thanks.
Dunno if it helps but I 'think' it logs into the account and checks is there's any incoming mail ... before it will send. On some testing I did, if the account didn't exist, the email wouldn't send.
DRZ400 - Thanks for the reply. It does seem to check for incoming mail first. We use two different servers - one for incoming and one for outgoing mail. When I try to send I get the message "The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again."
Another interesting thing I've noticed. This e-mail account is used by Outlook on the PC. When I sync to the PC (even though I don't have e-mail set up to sync), the e-mail that I created on the cell phone gets sent.
A Lot of the carriers require you use their unsecure smtp server for sending mail. Example: AT&T's is cwmx.com
So, check your cell carriers preferences, not your ISPs mail settings for smtp.
Need more input...
Exactly - UnHolyOne - that is what I think my problem is. I can NOT uncheck the section to use the same user name and password to send messages (as to receive them). I believe my provider does not want a user name and password and therefore I can't get access because I'm trying to log in. At least that is the only thing I can think of so far. (I tried using smtp.cwmx.com for my outgoing e-mail and that didn't work either.)

it's not smtp.cwmx.com, it's just cwmx.com. No www., no smtp, nothing else. No username and password. Try that. It's not the greatest, and it's not secure if that's an issue with your business or anything, but it works if you are on AT&T.
That did it!
BlowFish64 (and UnHolyOne) - THANKS - That did it - I works now. I really appreciate it. (I shouldn't have assumed it needed the smtp. in front of it).
hi there,
i am using a free push email service from mail2web.com.
lets say i send someone an email from my gmail account on my computer...
the person gets it and replies...
i get the email on my computer and on my phone...
when i want to reply though, i only have the option of replying to ALL?!
the phone then sends the email to me and the person i am replying too?
not only is it annoying to get your own mail all the time, the receiver of my mail is getting the mail2web email address and not mine?!
do i make sense? i hope i explained it correctly?
thanks

Assuming you are using ActiveSync - there is an advanced section in the email sync settings that allows you to enter your email address. I have done this and the 'Reply All' does not include my own email address.
Open ActiveSync
Click Menu>Options>Select Email>Settings>Advanced - then enter your email address...See if that works
thanks for the help...it fixed it to 50%...i still have the problem that the recipient gets my push email address and not the email address i want him to get...
thanks

worked like a charm thx!
Hi all,
My phone will only receive emails & will not send them via my ISP settings. I use T-mobile internet & my landline ISP is TalkTalk. I have used the e-mail setup on my phone (Tytn11 Wm6.1) with my ISP's info (POP & smtp settings) & I can receive emails OK but can't send them - I get a message saying 'THE MESSAGE COULD NOT BE SENT. CHECK THAT YOU HAVE NETWORK COVERAGE AND THAT YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION IS CORRECT. THEN TRY SENDING AGAIN. Now I have spoken to both T-mobile & TalkTalk, both have said all the settings are correct (which they are as I can receive emails OK). So why can I receive emails but not send them?
Many thanx in advance

Most likley your settings are not correct for your out going mail server
Usualy these things can be the case
a) You havent set for authorisation on your outgoig mail server
b) sometimes out going mail hosts use different ports to the standard 110 therefore would have to be updated in ur Windows Mobile
c) your settings are just plain wrong.
Can you type to me ALL of the settings you were given and I'll take a look at them for you.
Thanks
I have the same issue with my Tilt as well. I use Cox Isp. I can get my emails, just can't send any.
old issue - same trouble
My settings are in fact correct (we'll just get this one out of the way). The same settings being used on my pc's are working just fine but not on my phone.
I can receive BUT I can't send. I get the same error as "foxes" above.
receiving is via my web based email acct "pop.xxx.com" Works fine for receiving emails.
While I'm on my own home network (lan) I can recieve but I can't send via the phone (but I can on any of the pc's) and the outgoing settings are the same as the pc's "smtp.comcast.net". Yeah, I'm on comcast. Why won't my phone send like the pc's with the same setings? Any Ideas.
Another question I realize is whenever I'm tailgating on any other lan (free wifi access) this setting clearly shouldn't work. Should I then use "smtp.xxx.com" (my own companies web server)? This setting doesn't work while I'm at home even on the pc's it won't work. A
Any ideas on setting this up more universally??
Also, I've tried the port setting idea example "smtp.xxx.com:587". My server requires this port for outgoing. Again this works fine on my pc's but fails on the phone
THX to anyone with any ideas
JG
What port are you using on smtp?
Have you tried either 485 or 465? I read that comcast changed the port in Denver to 485:
http://www.consideritfixed.com/2008/02/ipod-touch-emai.html
Maybe it might work for your location.
Try these settings on Tmo should work on your Tilt too:
http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/555041-1.html
change the port to 25 if you are tying to use Tmobile web service.
my pc is setup with
incomming = "pop.XXX.com"
outgoing = "smtp.XXX.com" using port "587"
works great never a problem.
Now, on the same LAN using my tilt with exact same email acct info & pswd and settings
incomming = "pop.XXX.com"
outgoing = "smtp.XXX.com:587"
receives great
send = fails always. The ":587" is the only way I've been told to send using port "587" (or any other port than 25). If there's another way then maybe that's the answer. However, even using "smtp.comcast.net" with no port designation (default 25) wouldn't work even though it would with the pc's and same settings. This is strictly phone issue and frustrating.
I'm using wm6.1 (original). This is strictly via WIFI. The pc's will send just fine but the phone with exact same settings - FAIL.
This is my dilema. Why won't the phone send while using the exact same settings as any PC in my LAN (all send fine).
Again, thanks for the input, but I'm still searching for the answer. Certainly others have had this issue.
T-mobile internet and email
you need to log into t-mobile.com find "my email," select "add account," put in your email info. it will give you some server and username info. replace the outgoing (smtp) server and username info with what t-mo.com gives you. leave the password alone. send a test email. half the time this issue is due to the server setup on the provider side.

p.s. it doesn't hurt to work for tmobile's unsupported handset department

Thanx inklesspantalon,
I will try & let you guys know.
Hey Flying Kiwi,
I'll try that aswell, thanx
lol wow.
I know that my ISP does not allow to send via their SMTP server while being off of their network. So I have to use at&t's SMTP server.
looks like this is the smtp that you can use.

You'll probably find that patch alone will fix it if the problem is sending email worked initially but then after short while, for no apparent reason it stopped working. It looks like an issue that's been in the xda-dev forums before and I recall this solution doing the trick with others. If installing the patch, soft resetting and testing again doesn't fix it, by all means attempt reconfiguring but it's easier to install the patch first.
Of course I don't need it because the WM 6.0 ROM I use doesn't have this problem only the newly WM 6.1 'upgraded' phones so there's yet another advantage of sticking with WM 6.0
Please can someone help me
I have just got my wife a Topaz (Diamond 2) and have managed to set it up for her ok except for her email account, It recieves all emails ok fine but when trying to reply to one it just wont send it.
It just says check signal and account settings, but it is receiving ok from those settings so why wont it send!!
Please can someone tell me what I'm missing, I have managed to set up my own Blackstone (touch HD) and all emails work fine, surely they cant be that different, can they?
Cheers
What type of mail account are you trying to configure? Exchange? Hotmail? Or Other (POP/IMAP)?
If it is the latter, check your Outgoing (SMTP) mail server settings, in particular the address of the server and find out if it requires authentication.... it more than likely will.
