Updated from time to time, just had an update about a month ago...
I use it, and am preparing my second BA with the latest files on the Qtopia system...
Site is 'half-dead' right now, I suspect some issues server or load wise overthere... or it could be my connection or ISP...

I have an ipaq 5455 that I have been going around and around with tech support about. they say It has a corrupted rom, but I can load ppc 2002 or 2003 at will and it works for the most part. The problem is that it will not update the wifi , fingerprint or bluetooth drivers no matter what I do . Bluetooth continues to have the problems that are encountered in the old driver and the driver release dates are wrong for the drivers loaded. the driver for wifi shows a release date of 2-9-2005 and the wifi driver version is not shown anywhere on hp's site.
what appears to be happening here is that in a non user accessable area of rom , some of the driver files are incorrectly listed as read only and the rom update cannot update them, I have tryed moving , renaming , deleting and generally beating on the files for bluetooth and they will not budge.
hp support told me the device is out of warranty and wants 80 usd just to look at it and they will call me with a quote to fix it. I am reliant on the gps for work and cant be without it for a week. can someone ( possibly an ex hp tech) suggest what diagnostic tools will allow me to fix the non user accessable area of the rom that is the problem here??
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shteev
Its a bit of a long shot, but you culd have a look at www.handhelds.org you may be able to use the tools there to wipe the rom and then reflash from the newer hp rom packs. I did this with my 5550, to try linux on it (it's pretty good, but not quite there yet), and my ppc is back running 2003 fine. The forums are pretty informative too.
what did you do exactly??
i searched handhelds .org and this does seem risky for me .
you went through loading linux and then restored your ppc 2003 from a backup or a new rom image that they had specicically for that device???
what I gather is that the rom is only updated by the hp ppc 2003 upgrade and this is not changing the corrupted files in my rom hense the problem continues.
you loaded linux which changed the firmware rom of your 5555 and then loaded back from a backup or from a new image from handhelds.org???
was it familiar you loaded and where did you get the restoration rom from?
ok , i dont think that will work
i found the page where they talk about restoring win ce , and they have a tool that extracts the file from the softpaq file compaq/hp puts out , mind you when i talked to hp 2nd level tech support they stated this is only an update to the rom and does not completely replace it , therefore given the state of my rom i dont think the linux install would even work as it would not be able to un write protect the files that are locked down.
what i really need is the tool hp uses to flash the rom or diagnose problems with it , since this handheld is out of warranty the patent on such software should be gone , all i need to do is find it. Im not about to pay 80 bucks for something i could fix myself if hp was not such money grasping gluttons. someone surely has had this issue and fixed it so that someone could help. any ex hp techs out there have any advice????
I am not sure this is a hardware issue, I did a search on google and found lots of people having problems with bt and wifi since upgrade to 2003, here is a link to one of them and a suggested fix for the wifi. Did you experience problems when running 2002 ce.?
I just bought the IMATE PDA2K and i am still exploring the device. The first problem i found is that i have a NAVMAN navigation software including the reciever model GPS 4410. I cant connect via bluetooth in the running software and have a fix on the satellite. On the bluetooth manage i can connect and the system finds it. Please can someone help me in this. I am running the second edition of microsoft windows.
I don't know if it might fix your problem but you should look at the imate club site in order to install the new ROM. In the ROM there are some fixs concerning the bluetooth (waiting time and more devices found), battery and other issue.
There have been a lot of negative feedback (check the imate forum to know more) regarding this new rom.
There should be also a One-off patch to fix just the Bluetooth problem (it shoud be available also on this site).
You should just "cook" your own Rom. That way, you can build your own rom just to suit your needs....not everyone's needs in general.
I too have a PDA2K but am running the 1.3.51 WWE w/WMP10, radio version 1.10, B/T build version 3900, w/Siemens SX 66 extended rom from this site. You can use an extended rom of your choice. I use the Cingular ext rom, as my service is with them.
That would help solve alot of your gps and b/t issues.
Do a bit of reading in the "extended rom kitchen" regarding this. There is a wealth of info to be found in this site.
Later...... 8) 8) 8)

hdbueller,
I’ve got a PDA2k and am on Cingular. I’ve been pulling my hair out with this thing trying to figure out how to get a better ROM installed. When I try to install the latest Siemens ROM (with the hack to get past the Country Code Error) I get stopped up with an ERROR 100: DEVICE ID ERROR.
The ROM you describe sounds perfect. Any chance I can score a copy?
The rom has a header with the device ID in it, the seimens is PH20B1 if you downloaded the orginal rom, your device is a PH20B, thus the error.
Back on the ftp site there is a hacked version, lot of people played with it but then went back.
Next there is the thred with media player 10 in it, think this was another cooked version dont remeber what the base was for that rom, think it was the imate EDVO. Lot of reading, get the "final" version, also on ftp.
Hello, my name is Kc and I'm new to these forums. I just purchased a Siemens SX66 on the Cingular network. I noticed that there is a ROM upgrade of version 1.40. I have looked around these forums for info but I'm not really familiar with the lingo so I'm not making much progress on my own. Can someone please help me to understand how to update my ROM for my SX66?
ROM Version: 1.32.10 WWE
ROM Date : 12/17/04
Radio Vr. : 1.02.10
Protocol Vr. : 1337.35
ExtROM Vr. : 1.32.115 WWE
Model # : PH20B1
Any help would be great, thank you much.
Read Wiki:

Use the first method.
Still a problem.
First off, thank you TheLastOne, but I'm still having a problem. I tried to install the new Dutch ROM but after I click the update it goes to the next screen telling me what version of stuff I have on my phone then it attempts the update, and then brings up a screen telling me that the country ID is wrong. Did I miss something? Also another question, my display seems to be a little wierd as of late, I have a black boarder around the entire display as if the OS isn't set for the right resolution. Is there a way to make it fit the whole screen?
Thanks again.

Figured it out.
Well after a few hours on my phone no longer working I really decided it was time to dig deep and figure it out on my own. I got it up and running with the new Dutch ROM and I'm really happy with it, especially the WiFi, it finds networks much faster now. I have a new question though. I don't use GPRS at all for connecting to the internet, and I have no connections set up. I just want to use WiFi, but I have the annoying 'G' symbol at the top of my PPC. Anyone know of a way for me to get rid of that? Thanks for making this site, and thanks to all the people who contribute. I'm a software developer and you can expect some releases for PPC now that I have one myself.
help with upgrade
its seem that you learn fast so please help me
i also own a cingular sx66 where can i download the dutch rom and how you skip the contry id problem many thank
Did you miss the 2nd post in this thread, seems to have worked for SmearedBlackInk

r u missing your mind in the second post it only 1.40 upgrade and not the dutch rom ?????????????
so next time check your post and dont be rude
israel
I'll try to explain
Well it's going to be hard to explain. I used a mix of method 1 and 2 on the page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
The ROM I used can be downloaded here:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_DT_WWE_DutchRetail_14000_556_11300_Ship.zip
I tried to use method 1 but it just kept giving me a country ID error, so I nuked my ROM, then tried to install using method 2, but it kept stoping halfway through. I mixed my files a bit and used method 1 and some files from method 2 to form a new install folder and voila it worked.
Wow, I just read that and it doesn't really help at all does it.
I think the real trick is just to wipe your ROM before installing. I'd back it up first though, because it's kind of scary when your phone just sits in serial or usb mode and that's it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
more help
first many thank for all the links
i change the deviceid=1 and pass the first rom but in the second he stuck
and still give me country error can u help me how u mix the two option
israel
Read wiki. Method one says to download the ROM you want, follow by MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP. Unzip MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP into your ROMs folder, and run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe twice and presto...
yop
yes its work many thank as it look a lot better on my first feeling the
wi-fi improve and also the radio bt
hope some more improvement will come in
Can't download MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP
broken link???
Sorry my powers are failing me, did you have a link in mind or was this a general why does not somebody search the whole of the site (as in all posts as well as the ftp site and wiki) to work out which link to that file does not work.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/MaUpgradeUt_noID.zip
broken link???
Well not for me, link works fine, opens up a save file dialog.
I get connection refused whilst trying to connect to....
Unplugged router, connected pc directly to modem, worked fine then!
How are you doing this?
Are you in a ftp program and if so have you logged on with the correct user/pwd.
Are you just clicking the link and you firewall software is refusing the download?
Its a problem on your side, the link works fine for me, as is, as posted by you.
PS do you need an answer in the other thread as well?
Hey guys, before anything please let me thank you for this amazing site. You have made a complete n00b to a power-user in 2 days flat. Please do allow me to tell you my story. 2 Days ago I got this thing called O2 XDA IIs (HTC Blueangel) and I got it for around 300US$ (Unlocked/New) was not so fond of Windows devices so intended to sell it off asap and get some other phone, was just doing a little R&D on the net to see what all is available for this thing. When I came across to your site, here's when I got so intregued by the capabilities of this thing.
First I intalled the latest ROM for my device, after getting little confidence I installed WM5 with my fingers crossed. Its all done now but have a few things to ask you guys.
1. When you mentioned about the EXTROM you said that you'll have to copy the files on the StorageCard\ExtRom when all I did was copy nk.nbf into the folder called WM5_Pack_V3 and ran the installer. I did run the batch file to get the oper_code from the DeviceData file. It was all done, I was really scared but now am worried did I do the right thing?
The Device Information TAB shows
ROM Version : 5.03.02WWE
ROM Date : 03/02/05
Radio Version : 1.12.00
Protocol Ver : 1337.42
ExtRom Ver : TuMa v1.3
2. It took me long enough to install this what all tweaks should I do to it so that it stays at the maximum bug-free current stage. (Hope you get me)
3. I need the starting screen to display something other then those scary 3 colored lines
Some things that I noticed after upgrading:
1. WM5 It's a little slow, but definately much better looking and show-off value.
2. I have a Wi-Fi enabled ADSL router at home by which I connect the O2 and other devices its working fine on.
Any help/suggestions/comments are welcome.
A brief intro for me would be have worked as a beta tester for many symbian application providers, was a complete S60 geek and am majorly into bikes & bike photography
Nothing said yet?
Im not sure I understand that whole Extrom deal, but what I can say is that the files that were in the extrom folder inside the upgrade pack must be put in the storage card in the same folder, but that is only if you want MMS and have a camera, if not, then there is nothing to do, unless you edit the Cfg.txt to load all your apps and settings after a hard reset. I guess that if you are able to use the device, you did everything ok as far as the flashing goes. it is a little slow, but its come a long way from the first versions, those were slow as hell, thanks to Mamaich and Tuatara and everyone else this version is running great!
as for the 3 color bar start up screen, there is nothing you can do about it...
Yeah I really forgot to thank Mamaich and Tuatara for their awesome work, now I am really scared as I dont like the slow response and am unable to downgrade. ActiveSync shuts down whenever I try to run the MaUpgradenoID.exe file activesync stops and it is giving errors in connecting, gets DC frequently. And moreover the Manufacturer supplied upgrade is also not working it gives a CountryCode error. Am really confused and scared now what to do?
Well I did not get any help but with loads of tinkering I got the thing done, I wanted to know why was WM5 so slow, otherwise the interface is loads better then the current CE I am using.
I have the Cingular version SX66 Blue Angel. I was able to update it without any problems. Usually speed is very different with those who flush the registry and with those who don't. Make sure you flush your registry after you completed the update.
Mine is faster and way more stable than the other version I had on it. Remember to follow all instructions exactly. if there is a link you need to check and make sure you do the format, change the ram size on the device, then upgrade.
There are no instructions on how to flush the registry can you enlighten me on this?

During the flashing process, the wiki instructs the user to do a hard reset
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM5_HardReset
You should answer NO, YES, YES to the boot questions.
Hmm yeah, I did do that. And just am in the process of downgrading from the buggy WM5. It doesn't work out for me.
and THAT'S where I got problems!
in the manual, it says I have to download my latest favorite ROM version, and FROM that file i should copy the nk.nbf the "DOWNGRADE TO WM2003SE" folder..and that's what seems impossible to me, since the Rom-update i downloaded is an .exe application, and not a .zip or .rar archive..
so how should i get the nk.nbf file out of the Rom-update .exe file..?
help
well some were in the same documentaion it should also say use rar or zip to unpack it (being the exe file).
Pls spend some time in wiki you might find some other answers
yeah i had tried that already back then butthat didn't work either..when i try that it still just starts running the program.. :?
Try these instructions with your exe file:

Hi... I have the tilt and was exploring all the roms abailable, I've flashed with Hardspl and have been trying numorous amounts of roms..all of which are great, big ups to the chefs... until now.. I recently downloaded a rom, and evidentely it was in it's beta testing stage a while back. I applied rom, but now am locked out of my phone. Active sync will not connect. and all i have is a white screen that says... "This concludes the beta test of this software release. Thank you very much for your time and effort in helping make this a great produck for our customer. To obtain a newer release or further information, please revisit the web site that you used to obtain your current beta release." How the hell can I obtain a new one if you won't even let me get into activesync to apply a new one.. :\ I really need help. This is also my business phone, and I need to access it 24/7
PLEASE HELP!!
also i don't have a sd card and flashed that rom straight to my phone.... I know SUPER noob move... my apologies... but please. Much appreciated.
yeah super noob question indeed...
go to bootloader mode and then run the ROM update utility to flash the ROM of your choice...establishing an activesync connection as the first step of the ROM update process is not a strict necessity. using this approach, you will notice that you can also bypass the 50% minimum battery requirement check.
must have been a 6.5 rom. use one of Josh's latest ones
