Screen not responding? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

My touchscreen isn't responding after applying a screen protector. The display is fine, just no response. Before I peel the protect off, can it be this? Rr is the screen dead? Thanks.

I had the same problem when I applied a screen protector.
Problem was with the screen protector itself which was like bullet proof glass...nothing was getting through!
The screen worked when I applied an old Palm Tungsten protector trimmed to fit my MDA Vario III screen. Needless to say this screen protector was very thin laminate and works just fine.
If your screen worked before you applied the protector then chances are that's where the problem lies.

Thanks problem now gone, it was the screen protector.

Comes with a screen protector -- questions

I got my Z3C today, and noticed that it comes with a screen protector built-in.
Is this something that I should not remove? Is the screen similarly fragile to the Xperia Z/ZL?
I had thought that they no longer put these protectors on from the Z2, so it is a little confusing, but I ordered a tempered glass protector, and I'm wondering if it would be wise to take off the screen protector currently on there and apply it, or if I should apply it on top of the current protector.
Thanks for help.
Yours arrived with the screen protector applied? My screen protector came in the box for me to apply myself.

Are you sure there was no other screen protector below that one? I think on mine there is a screen protector which I didn't apply along with one which I did.
now that i look harder, you could be right..there might be one on there...but i can't really tell for sure, and I don't want to try to peel it off to find out (in case there really is one applied). My phone is the white model, so it's really hard to see
If there is one on there, then it's applied really well. Do you notice one applied on the back as well?
When i saw the screen protector in the box, i just assumed they left it up to us to decide if we wanted a screen protector applied.
Mine didn't even come with a screen protector in the box (Belgium)

For your sake I'd say leave it on it. It won't hurt you and it probably wont give you any trouble in terms of touch responsiveness after you've added the Tempered glass protector.

Suggestion: Curved Screen Protector with Scratch Resistance

Someone please suggest me a screen protector which is scratch proof and covers all the edges.
Tempered screen protectors are ruining touch sensitivity according to google.
I Swype hell a lot so my screen gets scratched easily.
Till now I have ruined two screen protectors.
There are so many reviews on Screen Protector main thread just back read..
go for liquid screen protector
i would suggest you to go for liquid screen protector. Firstly with the screen protector you need to find the proper size...and the screen is never adjusted around the edges...with liquid screen protector it gives you far better protection..look at google search for shark proof liquid screen protector..

Tempered Glass Screen Protector Touch issue

Okay so I have the device for over a month now and only now I managed to find a screen protector for it. But as soon as I applied it, the bottom part of screen won't respond to touch anymore unless I am touching the metal bezel. So basically if I try to use my phone as it lies down anywhere, I can't. I'll have to pick it up in my hand. I then even tried with a different tempered screen protector but the issue remained. Though the touch works perfectly fine without the tempered glass on.
I understand how capacitive touch screens work but I believe if the touch works fine without the screen protector, there should not be any such issue with it. Is my device defective? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm having the same problem in a lesser degree. Since putting a tempered glass, the very bottom of the navigation bar is unresponsive (while I didn't have any problems before putting the tempered glass on). I'm using a cheap tempered glass so it's been my guess that it's not a good quality product, which explains the touch screen issue.
I didn't try another tempered glass since I got used to using the top bar of the navigation bar so I don't know if the problem occurs with all tempered glasses. I bought a couple of plastic screen protectors if I get tired of the problem.

Did you try touching the metal bezel and then trying whether the navigation bar responds aptly or not. In my little understanding, touching any metal parts provides earthing to the circuit and facilitates transfer of electrons thereby improving touch function.
But I have never had any such issues with any of my previous devices.

No, it doesn't change anything. It's the first time I'm using a tempered glass on one of my devices so I don't have any point of comparison.
I don't think the Motorola Service Centre is going to be of much of a help here as the device works just fine without the screen protector on.
Guess I'll have to find some plastic screen protectors and trust the Gorilla Glass 3.
Same with me, putting a tampered glass on made the bottom right portion of the screen very unresponsive, after taking it off, the sensitivity was fine.
Anyone know of a good plastic protector?
I took off the tempered glass and put a simple protective screen and the difference in screen responsiveness is amazing. It feels like a totally new touchscreen!

It would really help if you could tell where you got the simple protective screen from.
No matter the device has gorilla glass 3 protection, but I still don't want to keep the screen exposed.

I just bought the cheapest matte protective screen I could find on Amazon here in France. I don't remember the exact reference, just that it was coming from Germany (I usually buy protective screens made in Germany, I've never been disappointed so far).

anyone else have their OP3(T) included screen protector damaged quickly?

i've had my OP3T for about a week now and the screen protector that it came with is already damaged. it's like someone starting scratching the middle of it and started making holes on the screen. anyone else or i just have bad luck?

The included screen protector is made of plastic. I have bought orzly screen guard as I have used it earlier too and will opt for the edge to edge tempered glass screen protector from oneplus

The "included" screen protector is only intended to keep the screen free from scratches during shipping and shouldn't be expected to prevent scratches during daily use. The actual screen is more scratch resistant than what you're referring to as the "included screen protector".

Strike 2 for the screen

Wow, lots of folks posted about the soft screen which resulted in a screen protector being applied, however now the talk is about screen peeling. I hear the fix is Moto charges 50 bucks and adds another screen or screen protector. Not sure whats going on so about you folks........any screen peeling problems/solutions. This could be a major FAIL again on this flag ship!
No issues here.

I don't have a problem with it and my screen has been abused already although if your having that issue then you may have done something to it on accident I don't believe it's the phone
yes the screen is VERY soft. small nick-nack scratches on mine. The glass protectors don't really fit, and because of the plastic cover motorola installed, its makes the touches very inaccurate when a tempered glass protector is installed.
next version, I hope they just go flat glass and leave the so called shatterproof technology alone
No issues at all. Screen protector fit perfectly from day one and it applied fast.
Removed Plastic coating
My screen was scratched pretty bad so I removed the plastic screen. I used a heat gun and digital thermometer and did the same steps as you would replacing the digitizer. You can heat the screen up to 180 to 200 degrees without damaging the board, screen, or and digitizer. It can go higher but don't push it this the only fragile part of the phone I found so far but it is. I used a razor blade after heating the screen up and at the corner carefully to start peeling the coating and once you get started a little at the corner start using the cards Don't pull on the plastic when the glue soften because you will be pulling the screen the rest of the plastic is still stuck to use playing cards to get between the lcd and the plastic coating which is basically a factory installed screen protector with a lot of sticky glue. Don't force the card push as far as you can with light pressure when it won't progress any further stop and heat the screen up again grab another playing card and continue to use cards to take that plastic coating off. And you want to leave the cards as you go. When done you are going to have to clean the residue off it will take a little time but when your done put on a high end protector like I used the Za??. My screen works perfectly to the touch and those scratches are not there except one and is was the san andreas fault of scratches before I took the coating off..
I removed mine also. Although I used a less technical method. I just pulled the top layer off and then spent some time scratching at the screen with my fingernail and using alcohol to help with the glue. Took a while for sure. I heard Goo Gone works great for me this.
I got my Z2 Force shortly after the launch date last year, and I have had zero issues with it. It's obvious that the shattershield screen is easily scratched, so I put a screen protector on it right away and it remains scratch free to this day. There's a lot of bad screen protectors out there these days that are warped and won't stay adhered to the screen, so it's important to look at those reviews to make sure you get a good one. I should also note that I constantly flip my phone around in my hand for some reason and I end up dropping it all the time, and I still have had no issues at all. There's not a sign of peeling anywhere.
