Which WM6 has phone support ? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 6 Upgrading

Hi,
I have the SPV M1000 (Himalaya), and phone used to work, then died. Texting worked, but phone didn't. So i used the Orange supported software, but it downgraded it to Win Mobile 2003. Although the phone did work, i prefer WM6 for the rotate screen feature etc.
Anyway, i downloaded a few WM6 roms, but of the 3 i tried, none of them allowed me to use the phone bit of the M1000.
Which WM6 rom should i download to get the phone working okay with my Himalaya ?
I tried C_ShekharAKU7.0c.R40.P24_public, also himalaya_6_1_0_0 file, but i cannot get the phone to work.
Regards,
Andy

I would suggest that either something is wrong with the phone section, or someone has made a mistake when upgrading the radio section of the phone.
The radio upgrade is a seperate upgrade to the ROM. All Windows Mobile roms should have phone support automatically, it is just a matter of getting the right radio working for you.
I am at work and as such I can not provide you any more detail, needlesss to say, use the search function in the top right hand corner of this website, and search in the Himalaya section for radio upgrade.
Cheers

Cheers Jadel, will give that a go now !
Best Regards,
Andy

Hello,
I'm now getting a strange error ! - i downloaded "C_ShekharWM6.1.1cR16.P32_public", but when i try to install i get a "country code" error ! - "ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR N-4-1-N-N".
What does this mean ?
Regards,
Andy

Use HimalayaUpgrade_NoID instead...........!

If you go to the Himalaya Upgrading section, you would have noticed this is the third link from the top "Fix and prevent ROM Upgrading/Downgrading Country ID Errors"
Here is the link, read it all and don't skip ahead, Rom upgrades can brick a device if not done properly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=228852

Many thanks, i'll try that !
Regards,
Andy

Just tried the "himalaya 6_1_0_0" upgrade. Installed okay. But when on main desktop screen i'm getting errors, couldn't open these files : "Screenrotate.exe", "btdwake.exe" and "Phoneservice.exe".
Other than that it works !
Help please.
Regards,
Andrew

How you like your Fried XDA 2? Sunny Side Up?

Hello,
I was today handed a fried XDA 2.
My boss had attemted to flash it and it failed for whatever reason.
Now i will say from the outset that i have only ever flashed my XDA1 with a XDA-Developers ROM and it was a breeze.
The ROM file HE flashed with was called.
Xda_II_Upgrade_v16050.exe
Now when you switch the thing on.. all you get is a a small amount of txt saying
'Serial'
'v1.06'
and nothing else..
What have i done? Well i have sifted through the articles on here.. and found this rom
XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
I have installed this on an SD card using xdatools.. WHOLESALE.. i.e. no moding of the files...
I have looked at 'http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing'
but as i can boot into the device.. i cant get the info it requires.
I am open to any and all help. And I'll even buy you a pint!
I am really at a lose.
Thanks in advance Guys and Girls.
It may not be as bad as you think.
It is in bootloader mode - currently in Serial mode and if you put it in a cradle connected to a PC (with ActiveSync installed) the bootloader should change to USB v 1.06. From this point you should be able to load a normal ROM from the manufacturer.
I have an i-mate, so am not sure what the current ROM version for the XDA II is, but I'm sure others will chime in with this information.
I upgraded to this version, not knowing I already had this loaded. You need to check the extROM version before upgrading as this appears to be way the official upgrades seem to change.
I had no problems and it was done through the Active Sync process
The file can be found here if you haven't already got it... http://www.my-xda.com/downloads.html
Try it again. It does take about 90 mins.
Regards
Nope... Nadda... Zip... Zilch.
Roit...
When i dock the pesky thing in the USB craddle.. it does display USB and v.1.06.
Activesync shows NO sign of knowing the XDA is there.
The ROM found at http://www.my-xda.com/downloads.html as suggested by flintanis fails with a ERROR 100: MODEL ID ERROR.
BRosenow what do you mean by 'load a normal ROM form the manufacturer' is that not what i have just tried?
Once again a pint for all contributors.. and my first born to the dude with the solution.
Cheers.
ActriveSync won't activate because it's in Boot loader mode but you can download the latest ROM Update from the manufacturer or cellphone service provider and load that to flash the ROM and complete the process.
If it's a UK XDAII, get the update at www.my-xda.com .
It appears the previous user tried to flash it with a ROM from another manufacturer (Q-Tek/MDA II/i-mate). You are now receiving a Model/Country ID error. I have not experienced this myself, but I have read posts in this forum on how to fix it. Do a search and I bet you will find it.
- OR - any user who has experienced this and successfully flashed his ROM could chime in here and give jonathh some advice . . .
After much ado about nothing..
i have returned to again fix this XDA2 (the joys of pesky FT employment; make your minds up guys.. you want this XDA2 fixed or not?)
Right i *think* with quite a high level of certainty that the XDA2 currently in my grubby mitts was purchased in Malaysia/Sinapore.
Now.. am i correct in that flashing it Xda_II_Upgrade_v16050.exe from http://www.my-xda.com/downloads.html
Would cuase the problem i have now.. or at the very least wont go on on the XDA2 now because it is a UK ROM and a Malaysia XDA2?
I have flicked thru the pages on here.. and i cant seen to see how to solve this!!
PPllleeasseee help
*sobs, and gently rocks back and fourth*
I think there is a bit of confusion going on in this post!
The first ROM you tried (XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe) is for XDA1 - NOT XDA2.
The best place to get the latest UK XDA2 ROM is http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda_II/XdaIIRom.htm
and i *believe* that the place to download the Malaysia ROM is
http://www.myxda.com/XdaII/serviceandsupport/template/XdaIISoftwareUpgrade.vm (note the absence of the '-' between my and xda...this is the Asian O2 website)
See if the ROM from either of those sites will install
Hope that helps!
How about scrambled?
Ok, thanks 'pope'
*none* of the roms suggest work..
Xda_II_Upgrade_v16050.exe reports unknown country code..
and the recently suggested
Xda_II_LaunchROM_v10311.exe just sticks on the 'checking for information' left it for over an hour! BUT doesn't report unknown country code like the other one.
I cant get the XDA2 rom from the Asia site, as after i registerd my XDA2 it reports i dont need the damn update... anyone got it already?
I have extracted the core files from both these exe's and tried to copy them to an SD card(the NBF fille) using XDAtools.. and xdatools report the files are invalid.
I am lost and clueless!
HHHEEELLLPPPPP
Well that didn't work...
I got my grimmy grits on another XDA2 and using XDAtools sucked the ROM off of that.. and then.. again using XDAtools squirtted it out onto an SD card..
But i am unsure what i have to do then? is this latest approach possible??
Comments welcome![/code]
Love to help… but
My UK O2 XDA II has exactly the same problem. I died whilst flashing the UK O2 1.60 ROM, and now I can't do anything with it. Identical symptoms. Identical complete lack of success (eight hours and counting).
How can I find out the country ID of my device when my XDAII is dead?

O2 will fix this for you if it happened as a result of flashing with their rom.
By they way, in case anyone was concerned when I said " I died whilst flashing the UK ROM", I did of course mean "it died..." ;-)
But I have solved my own problem! How come you can spend hours trying to find a solution, and as soon as you ask for help, you sort it out straight away??!!
I hope this works for you if you're still struggling.
1) Download the latest i_Mate ROM from http://www.clubimate.com/Support/RUU172126WWE_imate.exe
2) Download the XDAII Rom Editor from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/ER2003Edit_1_2_20.msi
3) Extract the files from the IMate ROM, and use the ROM Editor to change the Operator to 02. Get the instructions here and the password here
4) Flash the ROM as normal. It worked for me You could experiment with using the O2 extended ROM files rather than the T-Mobile ones, but I was just glad to get the thing working. Perhaps I'll feel braver later.
I did feel braver, and copied the O2 Cabs into the IMate Extended ROM file. Then I deleted the IMate cabs I didn't want, modified config.txt and prayed! Everything seems to have gone fine, and I'm now re-installing all the software. Already there seems to be a significant speed increase over 1.60.
I'd recommend taking this step before you flash the ROM, rather than doing it twice like I did.
mark8barnes is the man!
I didn't do the mods.. just as per your original post.. and it worked!! Yay
Thanks mate you da man!
Now i do have a query tho.. if i did suck the rom off using XDATools.. how would i get it bck on again?
Cheers all you guys..
Fried XDA
Hello Mark
Me too, I flashed my ROM with the UK version with the same result.
The link to the iMate ROM no longer exists, can you help me please. I'm a real novice at this.
Thank you

Help updating ROM

Hello, my name is Kc and I'm new to these forums. I just purchased a Siemens SX66 on the Cingular network. I noticed that there is a ROM upgrade of version 1.40. I have looked around these forums for info but I'm not really familiar with the lingo so I'm not making much progress on my own. Can someone please help me to understand how to update my ROM for my SX66?
ROM Version: 1.32.10 WWE
ROM Date : 12/17/04
Radio Vr. : 1.02.10
Protocol Vr. : 1337.35
ExtROM Vr. : 1.32.115 WWE
Model # : PH20B1
Any help would be great, thank you much.
Read Wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
Use the first method.
Still a problem.
First off, thank you TheLastOne, but I'm still having a problem. I tried to install the new Dutch ROM but after I click the update it goes to the next screen telling me what version of stuff I have on my phone then it attempts the update, and then brings up a screen telling me that the country ID is wrong. Did I miss something? Also another question, my display seems to be a little wierd as of late, I have a black boarder around the entire display as if the OS isn't set for the right resolution. Is there a way to make it fit the whole screen?
Thanks again.
~Kc
Figured it out.
Well after a few hours on my phone no longer working I really decided it was time to dig deep and figure it out on my own. I got it up and running with the new Dutch ROM and I'm really happy with it, especially the WiFi, it finds networks much faster now. I have a new question though. I don't use GPRS at all for connecting to the internet, and I have no connections set up. I just want to use WiFi, but I have the annoying 'G' symbol at the top of my PPC. Anyone know of a way for me to get rid of that? Thanks for making this site, and thanks to all the people who contribute. I'm a software developer and you can expect some releases for PPC now that I have one myself.
help with upgrade
its seem that you learn fast so please help me
i also own a cingular sx66 where can i download the dutch rom and how you skip the contry id problem many thank
Did you miss the 2nd post in this thread, seems to have worked for SmearedBlackInk
for mr nobody sunrise swiss
r u missing your mind in the second post it only 1.40 upgrade and not the dutch rom ?????????????
so next time check your post and dont be rude
israel
I'll try to explain
Well it's going to be hard to explain. I used a mix of method 1 and 2 on the page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.40.00_Upgrade
The ROM I used can be downloaded here:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_DT_WWE_DutchRetail_14000_556_11300_Ship.zip
I tried to use method 1 but it just kept giving me a country ID error, so I nuked my ROM, then tried to install using method 2, but it kept stoping halfway through. I mixed my files a bit and used method 1 and some files from method 2 to form a new install folder and voila it worked.
Wow, I just read that and it doesn't really help at all does it.
I think the real trick is just to wipe your ROM before installing. I'd back it up first though, because it's kind of scary when your phone just sits in serial or usb mode and that's it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
more help
first many thank for all the links
i change the deviceid=1 and pass the first rom but in the second he stuck
and still give me country error can u help me how u mix the two option
israel
Read wiki. Method one says to download the ROM you want, follow by MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP. Unzip MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP into your ROMs folder, and run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe twice and presto...
yop
yes its work many thank as it look a lot better on my first feeling the
wi-fi improve and also the radio bt
hope some more improvement will come in
Can't download MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP
broken link???
Sorry my powers are failing me, did you have a link in mind or was this a general why does not somebody search the whole of the site (as in all posts as well as the ftp site and wiki) to work out which link to that file does not work.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Tools/MaUpgradeUt_noID.zip
broken link???
Well not for me, link works fine, opens up a save file dialog.
I get connection refused whilst trying to connect to....
Unplugged router, connected pc directly to modem, worked fine then!
How are you doing this?
Are you in a ftp program and if so have you logged on with the correct user/pwd.
Are you just clicking the link and you firewall software is refusing the download?
Its a problem on your side, the link works fine for me, as is, as posted by you.
PS do you need an answer in the other thread as well?

Downgrading from WM 2005 to the original ROM

Hi Guys,
I have an I-Mate PDA2K with problems.
I'm new on this site and I'm in a bit of a pickle with the 2005 upgrade ROM...
The upgrade went fine and it was interesting to see what can be expected from the new OS but it still isn't user friendly enough for me just yet.
My problem is that I can't downgrade back to the original ROM, I have a copy of it which I have used several times but now when I try to reflash it it comes up with an error saying...
"ERROR 120: COUNTRY ID ERROR"
"The ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your device. Please check the vendor website and download the correct ROM update"
Then it lets me choose "Exit"
This as you can imagine is quite worrying as I have now lost most of the original functionality of the device.
If anyone knows how to remove it so that I can replace with the original OS I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Terry
PS - Please send any ideas to [email protected]
Thanks
You need to go into bootloader mode first. Check the Wiki.
Thanks Mastiff, you're a Star
No problem. But you can't lock/hide your extended ROM again, which I suppose you've already found out.
I'm a bit confused- it says on the wiki that if you downgrade to 2k3se from 2k5 after repartitioning DOC, then the ext rom will forever be visible. Why isn't this the case with mine? I followed all the instructions, copied my ext rom over after repartitioning a new ext rom and hard reset and it has disappeared again. Not complaining, just thought the doc repartioning tool reset the rom password.
Anyone else had this?
Im using XDA IIs, i've just rolled back to WM2K3SE and i couldnt see my O2 Connect applications and auto configurations tools ? where does it's go?

Need HELPPPP plzzz

ok thanks, will it work with unlocked pdas?
need help agen lool
i tried updating the rom with TNT,19213 professional
and error [300] invalid update tool occured
it says this update utility cannot be used on your pda phone.please get newer update utiltiy plz plz help
You have to use SoftSPL, you can get it HERE
In this folder, you copy the "nk.nbf" of your favourite WM6 (and only this file), then start with "START-sSPL.exe" (make sure you're connected via ActiveSync).
When you read this here before, you know everything you need!
Probably you are not following the instructions and doing it correctly, try to go according to the guide,if it still doesn't work,it sometimes happens that SoftSPL fails, than you better do it through 'HardSPL'

Recovering a harrier device

Ok, so I tried installing the WM6 rom on my device without knowing it was in fact a Harrier and not a Blue Angel. I now realize I was very stupid in doing this. Now when it boots I get the stripes on the screen and "No GSM, D 5.60.00 WWE" written in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Does any one have an original Harrier rom they could upload so I can flash it back to the original WM2003?
If no one has that, is there a way to copy the rom from another, identical device?
xplode has a great firmware archive, where you can find about any original shipped rom, for the harrier, you find it here: http://firmware.atspace.com/Harrier.html
Thanks Chef_Tony. Thats got it working again perfectly.
i have the same problem it now says no gsm ....
what software do i need to make it work again ?
thx

Again, find your carrier (I'm assuming that the phone was running the official ROM that it shipped with for your carrier) in that list and download the latest one available. No one can tell you which one to download as no one else but you knows who your carrier is.
The radio version doesn't matter in this situation as the OS is coded to deal with a CDMA radio stack, and most, if not all, official ROM flashers will flash the radio stack with the OS. You are going to have to flash it back to whatever OS and build (usually WM2003 for the Harrier) is provided in the archive. If there are multiple versions of the ROM/radio available, generally the newer ones are the better ones.
You shouldn't need anything special for this as you will be flashing the official ROM for the phone. Download, run the executable and follow the on screen instructions.
ok ive downloaded all from these links and it tells me each flash ..
the rom image is not designed for your device . error code is wrong country code !!
i tried simunlock and now have no gsm showing in boot .
it was on uk orange network the phone is spv m2000
thx
well, your device is a blueangel, this thread is about the harrier. it deals with people trying to recover their CDMA devices after a bad flash, you have a GSM device, a completely different phone, and also, the source of your problem is not the same. thank god, the flash did not work, or your phone would be bricked for good.
you need to do a completely different procedure:
1. you go to xplode's BLUEANGEL firmware archive at http://firmware.atspace.com/Blueangel.html and download any rom in your language / from your country. then you put your device into bootloader mode and flash the device using maupgradeut_noid, found here: http://rapidshare.com/files/322928773/Chef_Tony_RUU.zip
2. then, when you have wm2003 back, please post back for further steps to go.
thank you i will do as you said and report back thx mate , ps are you realy a chef because i am lol i have been a chef around 26 years.
ok downloaded the orange uk but its file is corrupt so executable failed ...
looks like im not going to win ..
tried other orange uk files further down the list but still says country error code.
yes, the country id error is the reason, why you need to extract the 40mb exe file, put maupgrade in there, from the link i provided earlier, another thing to avoid the country id error, is to put the device into bootloader mode before starting the upgrade process, so, before you put the blueangel into the cradle, you press record+power+reset, until the display shows "Serial" and "V2.0x" where x is a number from 5 to 7, then you connect the device and start maupgradeut_noid.exe, which has to be in the same folder as the nk.nbf and all the other needed files. using the maupgrade instead of the BAupgrade and using the bootloader mode avoids nearly all the errors, like country id, device id and so on.
EDIT: btw. i am not a chef, i am a system administrator, the avatar and username are just my regular online name, named after the most ridiculous chef on american tv ^^

Tony is right, your phone would have been bricked.
For future reference, when you post, make sure to list your carrier and the exact model of phone. Anyone in these forums needs this info to attempt to offer the correct information to help.
In my posts, as Tony mentioned, this thread was dealing with Harriers, the CDMA version of the Blue Angel. When you jumped in, I thought that you were talking about a Harrier as well.
Keep in mind that each phone has it's specific ROM designed for that single model of phone alone, they are not interchangeable.
hi
after long time thought i might have another go ...
all the links you have supplied dont work eg: file is corrupt is the message im getting when trying to install software to pc.
i need the factory cd rom for the : orange spv m2000
i have no gsm on the phone since i upgraded the phone to wm6.5
ce os 5.2.21169 (build 21169.5.0.0)
please help
thx
