Hi,
Been reading the posts and I can't seem to find anything relating to this exactly.
I had finally got outlook to sync with my work server when my admin man gave me a certificate to install on my TyTnII.
It worked a treat and then I decided to flash to HTC shipped ROM (I was on Orange - now unlocked too). It worked OK then too.
So I was brave and decided to give Dutty's ROM a go (Ruu_Signed_Duttys_WM6.1_5.2.19700_Hybrid_V2_1_65.14.06_CubeV2_). Didn't work after that. Re-installed the HTC ship ROM and it still doesn't work (installed the certificate on PPC OK).
I have un-installed ActiveSynce and deleted the partnership but still no joy.
Has something been written in the registry ??
Thanks
I have duttys non-cube version 19700 version cooked and am having no problems syncing.
I just install my chain/root certificate first, fill out the server name, user name and password. Its worked on every cooked rom i tried (and Ive tried alot).
One little detail though that tricked me up for a bit was that you cannot be hooked up with your usb cable to your pc when you try to sync over the air. When the USB to PC cable is plugged in the phone tries to use the pc to sync with which wont work if its from home.
Find the same issue with using wireless.
Also know that if the company created a self-signed certificate you have to load the root/chain certificate first, but if its a recognized 3rd party certificate (like verisign or digicert) you don't.
Dont expect the autodetect server function to work during the setup unless you have a internet host name set up as autodiscover.domain.com and have a certificate with that name as one of its alternate names. Otherwise just set it up manually.
.
Hard reset and installed the certificate and entered details on the PDA and it says:
Synchronization could not be completed. Tyr again later.
Support code 0x85010013
Haven't connected it to my PC so can't be an active sync/regisry entry..

Do you have acces do the exchange server, you can have luck in the eventlog for a more detaileds
and which Exchange version is it ? 2003/2003sp2/2007sp1?
I can say for sure, its not your activesync, on EX2007 security policies can have a problem be forced on the device. 2003 can have an other problem. I will look for you if i get home.
I have fixed it. But I would like to know why Duttys won't work.
I now have
ROM 3.03.405.0 WWE (date 01/08/08 US)
Radio 1.64.06.04
Protocol Version 25.70.40.02H
Syncs up a treat, but I would like to put Duttys back on. Any ideas or suggestions?
The admin guy said nothing had changed on the server and there were no logs
Sorry man, i totally forgot about you
But I tried a lot of roms, but i had never problems with my syncing same as Tayton. But how did you fix it? Just flash to an orginal Rom?
Sorry about the logs i was not clear enough. The admin can see if somebody is connecting with his device, and then you have some more details for exploring the problem. Most of the time errors from the PDA are to general.
Btw here is a link for more details about the error:

Please help. I flashed 2.16.9.x and now ActiveSync doesn't work anymore, it connects all the time. PDA doesn't show activesync syncronization icon.
I tried to flash another versions of ROM, but it didn't help.
The problem may lie with the PC as opposed to the PDA. Have you tried a remove / re-install of AS4.1 on the PC?

Fair enough, I was just trying to help. Perhaps if you had stated that in your original text I would not have provided such an "Obvious" answer. I will leave it up to others now to take guesses as to what you "might or might not have done"......

Try to make your computer or laptop restore on earlier date then since it started. I had once this problem i don't know but sometimes it with the system files in computer missing then the problem occurs.
Although my ActiveSync works almost fine after the same rom-upgrade, I encounter its strange behaviour sometimes (rear, not always!) - PDA slows down to a crawl right after you disconnect it from a desktop PC (either USB or Bluetooth). It becomes so terribly slow that it takes 20-30 sec to draw the Comm-manager window! then you better soft-reset, then it works just fine. Why am I... to prove that ActiveSync 4.1 is not quite stable with new ROM version 2.16. There is a bug somewhere, and it has to be reported to i-Mate firmware writers.
Have you followed Microsoft rules about configuring firewalls for ActiveSync 4.1? Does it create a network connection 169.254.2.1 on a desktop PC?
Thank you guys, but I guess my case is harder:
1. I have firewall switched off. I didn't change any setting in computer. I just flashed new ROM.
2. I flashed my original ROM, but it didn't help.
3. I tried to sync on several computers and had the same result.
By the way I cannot return to original ipl/spl, I don't know how to do that.
Today I visited repairing service's office and they've prooved me my device is not broken, it synchronizes succesfully via USB on their computer.
So, the problem is related to my computer(s). If I'll find something I report in this thread.
it probably has to do with one of the cabs you installed that are on your original extrom or someone elses. Most people who have had problems after the upgrade on an 8125 (Cingular) have installed cingular cabs from the old rom. I had to to figure out the MMS configuration and after I foundthe one that did my activesync no longer worked. after a reflash and only installing some of the default cabs that came with the new rom and manually configuring the mms and gprs I don't have any problems at all.
well maybe it is the version of activesync we are using when this does happen.
I'm running the ROM that came with the Cingular 8125, and it does the same thing ... 1 in 10 times after disconnecting the device from the PC, the 8125 slows to a crawl, and the only way to recover is a soft-reset. 9 out of 10, it works fine.
OS ROM: 1.8.11.1 WWE
Radio: 01.09.11
Protocol: 4.0.13.20
not overclocked
soon to be ROM upgraded (hopefully)

I use 4.1 for a long time.
I didn't install anything on my pda. It happens even after hard reset. I even tried to flash original rom. In all cases ActiveSync displays "Connecting...", pda even doesn't display sync icon.
I tried to sync with standalone notebook and it was successfull. I'm really shocked why pda cannot sync with my desktop(s). It seems to me it could happen after some windows unattendant updates or something, I'm still investigating...
I have Qtek 9100 and have installed rom 2.16.9 and i also have activesync 4.1 refusing connection to my pda. After some googling i have found this interesting site: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm
I did cheks described there and found out that activesync doesnt have any network adapters and/or activity. USB driver installs, but it, again, doesnt generate anything. Maybe problem is there?
Ehhh... I even cannot return to any previous rom version, because there is no rapi for updaters to work with
reverting back to original cingular rom
How would you go back to original ROM using Lokiwiz tool if your active sync was working OK?
Thanks,
Each time I have done HARD RESET--I uninstalled active sync from my computer AFTER DELETING PARTNERSHIP. I deleted PC from Active sync on my 8125. I deleted all files on my computer related to active sync using search.
I then reinstalled active sync 4.1, being sure WINDOWS FIREWALL was off. I went thru all the steps with my TREND MICRO VIRUS PERSONAL FIREWALL EXCEPTIONS listed on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx
and I got it to work (1st install always takes time for calendar)
Hope that helps--it seems ridiculous to have redo all that-but so be it.
I'd like to know how to get back to CINGULAR ROM as I am still in 30 day return window.
Well there is a magical combination of buttons as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386 (somewhere around 2-4 page):
Voice+Camera + Reset. Colored bootloader shows up. After that you can connect it to usb and run .exe with rom you want.
The problem with me is that i dont use any 3rd party firewall (i have hardware router for my connections)
reverting back to original cingular rom
You don't think there would be a problem going DOWN in ROM'S?
Do I need to UNLOCK again first?
I must confess. I did (i think veeery lucky) sucseded in running activesync. Altough what was the cause i cannot say. I reverted to 1.6.7 version of the rom. and reinstall everyting several times. and reboted several time. and i saying loud magical words. (and deleted checkpoint vpn software that i have installed). AND it worked!
Maybe trouble was in vpn soft, but it worked pre 4.1 activesync. So... Here is my experience.

Thank you very much for this link, it helped me to find the reason. It's not new ROM fault. The Microsoft Firewall Client (ISA 2000 component) on desktop blocks communication between PDA and desktop. I disabled it and now ActiveSync works fine.
Thank you again.

Hi, did download (the latest on MS website), install and use it without any trouble. It found my exchange setting on my BA and applied them without even asking me! This was last night, will see what happens today!
@ daddy_yankee1980: It is an upgrade to Vista with all the verification required, so even if it is uploaded you will have to be online and connected to MS website (I think).
it is "Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center Driver for Windows Vista"
not the app
All the beta branding is gone from the application too - so I think its both driver and app.
Maybe you are right, i wont use vista just yet they have to fix a lot of bugs until i start to use it daily
here is links for both builds

amd64
I'm currently using the Helmi AKU3.5 1.4Beta with no sucess to be detected, what rom are you using ?
Are you running the final version of the WMDC ?
Still problems with Vista
I installed the Windows Vista Mobile Device Driver Update Final, but my MDA Vario I is not connected. It is not recognized anyway. Any ideas how to solve this issue?
Thanks.

I am using Vista with final WMDC released driver with O2 Atom.
I am able to properly sync. No problems. However I am not able to update the ROM. It goes upto the sensing screen to display the current ROM on device and to be updated ROM info. etc. In the next screen it hangs and after some time of about 1 minute the device update utility says that it is not able to update the device. I even disable the firewall to check if it is issue with firewall. But nope no help. I again checked it with windows xp and active sync v. 4.2 where everything works perfect so no issues with O2 atom.
Any help is appreciated.
SX66 WM5 synched successfully
I installed Windows Mobile Device Center on Vista Ultimate and successfully synchronized my SX66 running WM5. In addition, I sychnronized my Mail with Outlook 2007. However, it appears that there is no backup utility. When I checked the help for WMDC, it only shows how to backup a "Windows Mobile 2003 powered device". Is there some other way I can backup my system? Maybe another tool. I am going to try to use ActiveSync 4.1 tomorrow, which is installed on my work computer.
I'm still not able to sync in Vista with WMDC. My BA is saying:
Connection Not Valid: unable to open the connection '`USB'. This Connection is no longer valid or does not exist. Select a different connection and try again.

Since I just installed WM5 on my SX66, I was unaware that AciveSync does not backup WM5 devices. I purchased Spb Backup and that works better anyways.
It Works
When I plugged my device in today, the system was able to find drivers. All is good now.
Hi guys,
I am guessing my problem is the fact that there is something wrong with the devices radio, more the radio rom.
I a while back flashed my dad's KJAM, and it all worked fine, he however has not used the actual phone part of the device since then, and now that he needs it, its not working.
The phone is not in flight mode, and it doesnt ask for a pin, as thats how he set it before I flashed it.
The phone keeps searching for service, and when I try to manually set the network, it keeps comming up with some or other problem.
The phone worked before I flashed it, so I am guessing it is the Radio ROM.
I am thinking of ugrading him to WM6, is this recommended at all? Which thread is best to follow for upgrading him to WM6?
His current details are:
ROM Version: 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROM Date: 2/6/06
Radio Version: 02.07.10
ProtocolVersion 413.1.03
ExtROM: 2.16.9.101
Any help will be appreciated.
P.S. I did just try to the radio rom that is on the xda ftp, for the wizard, I downloaded and tried to load the REAL_Radio_2.61.11 ROM, but that does not want to load for some or other reason, it first complained about the radio update util and said I must update or something, the second time I tried it was a communication error. I am using my JASJAR's USB cable, is this a problem at all?
Try to change the radio rom to 2.19 or higher but i recommend you to flash first the 2.19 if that fails then try more higher.. i guess 2.2x and 2.6x something like that... i forgot..
Ok, u got a link for me for those ROMS?
wait a sec..
If you search and read all the stickies thread you might encounter this one your self..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=268031
There at that thread have a varius radio roms to download..
goodluck!..
post the result afterward
Thanks...I didnt see that one...I will have a look...shot for the help...
Ok, ive tried a few different things.
I tried to get it to connect with activesync, but it just doesnt want to work, I have also attempted a hard reset, and activesync doesnt work either.
Before I did a hard reset activesync 'did something', and a message came up saying it couldnt get an IP address from the server, and on the PC activesync came up with some other thing saying it cannot connect to the Windows Mobile Powered Device.
After the hard reset, I try activesync again, and now absolutally nothing happens on the phone. On the PC the little network icon comes up aqquiring an IP address and dissappears, and the just sits there...
At this point I ran a exe file on the K-JAM, to put it into bootloader mode, I ran the update tool, and again it complained about the update utility, again not changing anything, I ran it, and then it gave a communication / connection error, and a third time also a communication / connection error.
I tried only one radio rom, I am going to try it with the oldest version on that page, if that doesn't work, then I don't know. I tried it with ActiveSync 4.5 and 4.2.
In the mean time I tried the original ROM file from clubimate, that actually loaded, and worked, except the network still isnt working.
I also tried syncing the phone on another pc, and funny enough that worked.
On trying to load the new Radio ROM, it started the update process, and at that moment the phone jumps to bootloader mode, obviously the activesync connection gets lost, the update tool waits a bit, and then suddenly complains about the update tool, saying I need a new version or something.
I have checked the bootloader version of the phone, and it is version 2.x.
I try it again and then I get a connection error....I really need to get my dads phone working again.
Any ideas?
Not sure which Radio's you are trying but go grab a Radio Only ROM. TMobile 2.19.11 UK seems to be a very good and stable one. These are found in the ftp area: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard .
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the help.....ive tried 3 different ones from there, they all do the same thing...so its a bit wierd.....
On the other side of the coin I decided to stick on another sim card, and it works just fine on the other sim card
So the radio is working just fine afterall.....just got back from the service provider and they rekon either the sim card is damaged or its a network error....so lets see what happens.....
Thanks to everybody for the help...
lol..
so its just the simcard after all..
lol yeah....
Although I would still like to know why I can't update the radio anyway...
isnt it because of your activesync?
I don't know what it is...
I used it on another PC alltogether and activesync worked just fine...the update tool interacts with the device, starts the update process, and then the phone goes to bootloader mode, activesync obviously losing the connection, the update tool waits a while and then suddenly says something about the update utility being old or something, I need a new one or what ever....
Then while in bootloader mode I try the update again and then I get a connection error.
Its all wierd.....
I am new to the Topaz forums as I just got an AT&T pure and am wanting to start flashing. My battery is over 50%, I am using XP Pro, all my anti-virus is off. I have the device synced but when I try and run Topaz-HardSPL_V5_00R5, I get an Fatal Error that says " Please make sure the device is properly synced, Please retry after syncing the device (via Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Center). The USB cable is working because I installed pocket controller on it and that works fine.
Are you completely synced up with ActiveSync? I assume you have the latest version of activesync aswell. There should be no problem if you are synced up.
Try going to Settings>All Settings>Connections>USB to PC
Whe you get there make sure activesync is checked. Mebe also untick Enable faster data if it's ticked.
Not sure if thats the right way to get there for you as seeing as I have an unlocked D2 and a cooked ROM. But it may be something that simple.

Thanks man. I finally installed the cab file on the device itself then it worked. Now to flash and hopefully cook
No problem.
I`ve installed WM 6.5 in my Qtek 9090, and when i put in dock to syncronize with my pc, said that the USB port is no longer availabile, chose another way to syncronize, or install a synchronazation software from the getting started disc... but i dont have this disk. what can i do to sync my phone with pc?
first of all, perform a hard reset by pressing power+reset+camera+record, in the menu that appears, set
Enable Kitl NO
Format Storage YES
Clear Registry Hive YES
using the camera and record buttons, confirm with the mail button.
make sure you delete older sync partnerships on your pc, you need to set up a new one.
if bot those actions did not work, try another usb port or finally flashing the rom again or maybe another rom, there are certain builds out there, that have sync issues, which one did you pick exactly?
Same problem
I have just updated a SPV M2000 to WM6.5 and cannot sync
I have tried a virgin PC running XP and this doesn't communicate. The USB connection is recognised by the PC but neither active sync works nor does the file manager recognise the PDA.
The PDA says that the USB port is a problem.
Can I still reupgrade? Maybe should I try an earlier version?
Is there a "known good" version of WM6.5 for SPV M2000?
Thanks for your help
hi and welcome to the forum.
what rom are you using (build number, chef)?
are you sure you followed the right upgrade procedure to the point? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4706441&postcount=2
especially the hard reset at the end is important and might help your case here.
yes, you will be able to upgrade/downgrade to change the rom, as long as activesync 4.5 is installed on a windows xp pc. that brings the needed driver for the device to connect, also if you can't sync.
there are many good wm6.5 roms here, just go to the blueangel rom development section and look at the different releases.
Same Problem sorted
Problem sorted.
Before you replied I tried one of the ROMs you recommended and Eureka.
This forum is really useful - thanks
I wonder if you can point me in the right direction. My real reason for upgrading the Blue Angel was to see if it would run Tom Tom Navigator 7 which needs WM6. It won't. I simply get the answer Program not for this device even though I am now running quite successfully WM6.5.
