Hi, did download (the latest on MS website), install and use it without any trouble. It found my exchange setting on my BA and applied them without even asking me! This was last night, will see what happens today!
@ daddy_yankee1980: It is an upgrade to Vista with all the verification required, so even if it is uploaded you will have to be online and connected to MS website (I think).

it is "Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center Driver for Windows Vista"
not the app

All the beta branding is gone from the application too - so I think its both driver and app.

Maybe you are right, i wont use vista just yet they have to fix a lot of bugs until i start to use it daily
here is links for both builds
x86
amd64

I'm currently using the Helmi AKU3.5 1.4Beta with no sucess to be detected, what rom are you using ?
Are you running the final version of the WMDC ?

Still problems with Vista
I installed the Windows Vista Mobile Device Driver Update Final, but my MDA Vario I is not connected. It is not recognized anyway. Any ideas how to solve this issue?
Thanks.
Markus

RUU
I am using Vista with final WMDC released driver with O2 Atom.
I am able to properly sync. No problems. However I am not able to update the ROM. It goes upto the sensing screen to display the current ROM on device and to be updated ROM info. etc. In the next screen it hangs and after some time of about 1 minute the device update utility says that it is not able to update the device. I even disable the firewall to check if it is issue with firewall. But nope no help. I again checked it with windows xp and active sync v. 4.2 where everything works perfect so no issues with O2 atom.
Any help is appreciated.

SX66 WM5 synched successfully
I installed Windows Mobile Device Center on Vista Ultimate and successfully synchronized my SX66 running WM5. In addition, I sychnronized my Mail with Outlook 2007. However, it appears that there is no backup utility. When I checked the help for WMDC, it only shows how to backup a "Windows Mobile 2003 powered device". Is there some other way I can backup my system? Maybe another tool. I am going to try to use ActiveSync 4.1 tomorrow, which is installed on my work computer.

I'm still not able to sync in Vista with WMDC. My BA is saying:
Connection Not Valid: unable to open the connection '`USB'. This Connection is no longer valid or does not exist. Select a different connection and try again.

I'm going to try a hard reset on my BA and see if thats the problem.

Since I just installed WM5 on my SX66, I was unaware that AciveSync does not backup WM5 devices. I purchased Spb Backup and that works better anyways.

It Works
When I plugged my device in today, the system was able to find drivers. All is good now.

Activesync not compatable

All of you, thanks for the good work! The upgrade went well except for this problem. I have gone through a tough 8 hours and I still cannot get this thing to sync. At first there was no connection. Now after reinstalling the ROM and reinstalling the activesync, they see each other but, I get an error from activesync 4 stating "this version of microsoft activesync is not compatable with the connected device. please upgrade to a newer version of activesync and reconnect" I just downloaded this version of activsync 4.0.0 build 4343. Is that what everyone else is using? Please help if you have any ideas as I am getting very frustrated.
Firstly ensure you do not have any firewall software running as this causes havoc with ActiveSync 4 and WM5...
Secondly, are you running XP SP2? If you are using SP1 or earlier then ActiveSync 4 will not function correctly!
Yes I have all firewall software shut down and I am on SP2 for XP. The error is strange though. Any other ideas?
Had to downgrade
Just a quick addition. I downgraded back 1.4 and activesync 4.0 now works fine with no system changes. The problem had to be with the 5.0 installation on my XDAIIs. Everything else worked so it is quite strange.
Mine wouldnt sync, it would even pick up that it was plugged in it kept sayin unkown usb device has malfunctioned, worked fine after hard reboot.

ROM updates using Vista and WMDC

I'm trying to upgrade to a WM6 ROM, and I am having problems. Vista keeps telling me the update utility has stopped working right after it restarts my phone into the bootloader.. Does anyone have any experience doing a ROM update with Windows Vista??
I cannot get any rom upgrade to work under vista and mdc. I too am trying to update to wm6 but without any success. It is really pissing me off.
One of the reason I'm not upgrading to Vista yet even tough I've got my business version for free...... Does it work if you try putting the phone on bootloader before starting the utility in vista?
This was a problem I had yesterday. Because i'm having a Vista only PC I went to my neighbour and updated de WM6 Rom there in Windows XP. When I came home again and wanted to install some things like Pocket IRC and Total Commander the problem still exited.
Then I decided to take a peek on Windows Update for Vista and there was a ActiveSync update for Vista. Now everything works fine now I've updated it. Maybe you could do try the same thing.

This is true. I'm to damm used to the old name. But whitout the update I didn't saw the old sychronisation pictogram in the taskbar. After the update it appeared there and everything worked liked it should. Before the update it was impossible to install roms and other applications voor Windows Mobile. Now it works fine. It was an update called something with "Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" in it.
this has been covered already use the search function.. you can dual boot using vmware and so on..

Problem with Rom Upgrade with Windows Vista

Anyone got any problem when upgrading Rom on WIndows Vista and using the Windows Mobile Device Center instead of the traditional ActiveSync? It won't seems to connect to the device again once the device is restarted into the RGB screen [after the starting the Rom upgrade process]. After a few seconds, it got the connection error code on your PC. I soft reset the device and no upgrade has been installed. Any ideas?
I try removing the connect via USB check box and use Mtty to check the connections to my device. But after I have done that, the PC won't connect my device to my computer at all... hence, I can't get use Mtty to check the connections.
So I have no idea why this is happening on Vista. It works fine when I am using my old XP computer when I upgrade to the test ROM. Any suggestions will be appriciated. Thanks a lot of your help in advance.

Looking to upgrade to Windows Vista? You might just want to keep an XP partition on your machine, as ROM upgrades via the normal RUU client do NOT work from within Vista, due to changes in the way the OS accesses the device. This also prevents IMEI-check unlocks from working on Vista.

Problem lies with vista, but I have read somewhere a solution is underway, or allready here...

Problems, bricked? No idea

Hey guys, in the past i have upgraded from the stock os to what ever the newest on here was at the time.
But some time after vista came out i downloaded a possible offical upgrader from o2s xda website, this heap of crap failed half way through upgrading with no error messages - i assume it was becuase i was running on vista at the time.
So after that, once we turn on the device we just see what i assume is the bootloader, When connected it says "USB v1.06" and if we disconnect it says "Serial" instead of usb.
Some research today provided there are vista drivers to be downloaded, so i installed those (On windows server 2008 x64 R2 beta! which is based on vista rtm) the driver seemed to install fine,
I downloaded "Syed Ather WM 6.1 Dark Edition" and ran HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe but this errors out before even running with the following:
---------------------------
HimaUpgradeUt_noID.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application.
So any general direction here on how to get my little device back would be nice thanks guys
it requires .Net Framework 2.0
More Info here : http://support.realtyware.com/article.aspx?id=10015
Funny! Nice of it to give such a useful error message!
Thank you for your input, i will install now
The installer says i already have the framework, so this is strange.
oh, u running Windows Vista , get the latest version of WMDC - Windows Mobile Device Center and idk if the x64 version of the drivers ever worked..but you could alwas try.. i suggest u to to install the rom on a pc with XP
Thanks for the fast responces etc
I got this sorted last night
Welcome back to life little xda

Upgrading to WM6.5 on XDA IIs - Error 150 Maupgrade

Hey guys,
I am trying to upgrade my XDA to WM6.5. When following the wizard steps, I enter the PDA into the bootload menu, but when I run the application on my XP desktop, I recieve the following error:
Error 150: Rom Upgrade Utility Error
This ROM upgrade utility does not design for your device.
Please get proper ROM upgrade utility and try again.
Help! It's frustrating the hell out of me!
please add which rom you currently use, do you have activesync installed
Me also have the same error
I have yust tried to install the new release with the same result.
I have a Qtek 9090 with WM 6.1 rel 5.2.20262 b. 19949.1.2.0.black, but in the past month I have tested many other...
Simply the install program don't recognize the device so cannot define if it's right or wrong.
Thank you in general for your fantastic jobs !
Sorry !
Yes I have Activesync installed (for another palmsize divice).
What????
Palm size device???? so you dont have activesync... you have hotsync but....
You already tried the WM6.1.... so you have activesync... men you are getting me crazy jejejej lol
BTW...
Try to conect your device if the activesync dont recognize it and sync.... restart your PC and PPC... the if this not works...
Uninstall the AS then Reinstall it..... if not works...
Try to change to other USB port
If dont works check your advanced conections settings
and check or uncheck the advanced network config box..... if not works...
BTW upgrading needs bootloader so put it on Bootloader mode conect it if your PC says something about not recognized just.... try other PC.... are you on VISTA or XP? suggested... XP.
Thanks
I have used very bad words, so don't panic ! The other device is a "normal" HTC 3300 (artemis) with 6.0 italian std rom and A.S. 4.5.0 (Build 5096) on Win XP.
The 9090 syncs regularly and it is regularly connected (I have stopped the bootloader and reboot the BA), I will test to reboot all, and eventually change the USBport, tomorrow morning (I am a little tired now and the eyes start to cross instead of read). As soon as I have done it I will and report here what does happend.
For now many thanks to you and to Xplode also.
night men!!!
Hope it works for you tomorrow... good luckits our pleasure to help.
Have you tryed the following ?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_FAQ_STUCK_AT_STARTUP
All Ok now
Symply from the last uprade of my 9090 I had changed the PC, so it haven't all the right Drivers.
Now, following Win XP requests (it was needing wceusbsh.sys) all is gone right so my 9090 actually exposes: CE OS 5.2.21169 (Build 21169.5.0.0) release. (and I am starting to play )
Many thanks to all.
you do not need drivers, install activesync in your pc, it includes al the drivers you need - if you have it and winxp still wants driver for the ba remove/uninstall activesync and reinstall it again - remember use the latest version of activesync
Hi,
Remove your "puce" and your sd card.
And try again of course with ActivSync.
For less worry upgrade on you BA's...I...WE recommend XP with Active Sync 4.5
