soft reset problem - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Everytime I need to reset my phone it seems to just lock up at the second loading screen the only way I have around this currently is a hard reset. I'm using Duttys 6.1 WWE does anyone else have this issue. Is it ROM specific or a lack of basic intelligence

Hmm maybe ask in the Dutty rom thread? I ran it for about a month and didn't have a problem.

is my tilt defective (do I exchange)?

I have been having a large number of lock up's (black screens that the only way I can recover from is a soft reset). It is happening about once every 2 days. I have been using various roms but mostly dutty's (various versions).
Now I installed dutty's cube rom and it doesn't seem to work for me as it does for others. I can only get it to respond correctly about 30% of the time. While others claim it is working great.
Do you think I have a defective tilt in some way? I have a 30 day exchange from newegg so if it is, I need to return it soon.
Any thoughts or ideas? (FYI, it still does it after I have done a hard reset).
Most likely to be a defective rom... but difficult for you to return it if you ant put the original rom back on?
Try flashing the rom again.
Do you notice these same issues before you start installing all of your programs after a hard reset or ROM change? In my experience issues like this can be caused by an application that isn't playing nice.

After my last hard reset, I did not install any other programs (just running dutty's new rom) and I am still getting the ocassional black screen lockup.
Put it back to factory settings and factory rom (how ever it was delivered), then see if you have the same problem. If you do, replace it or be unhappy for a long time

Soft Resets randomly during use?

Hi,
Had my Diamond about a month now, flashed a few Roms and have stuck with whats in my signiture.
The problem i have is that occasionaly it decides to do a soft reset while it is in the middle of being used! i have Hard SPL 1.40 Dev edition. It does it no matter which ROM i'm using.
any ideas?
Cheers,
no one????
***BUMP***
Well I had a glitch here or there, but sorted all that now.
If you keep getting soft resets with the original firmware then suggest RMA.
RMA...?
i have flashed different ROMs/SPLs and always had the same problem.
Do you have any processes loaded at startup that can be responsible for this? Or perhaps a tweak you always use?
no i dont ever do the same thing, all i do is flash a ROM, have contacts from Sim card.... never back anything up lol
In about 5 weeks of use (stock ROM) the phone did reset once or twice, but that's about it.
If yours is doing that often, then perhaps it has a hardware problem, considering that it happens with different ROMs.
yeh, returning to stock ROM/SPL etc now to return to HTC....
And then they have a look at it, don't see a soft-reset occuring, flash the phone and return it to you... If the failure is hard to reproduce don't send it back. You will get your phone back after three weeks and nothing happened.
Soft resets looks more like a software problem, not a hardware.
I got my diamond yesterday and didnt flash a new rom. Still stuck with the old one, but it also has done some softresets randomly. I didnt even install any apps. Any ideas?

ROM 1.93 and crashes !

This is the second time in two days.
After upgrading my Diamond to official ROM 1.93 ITA it happened for the second time (so far) that it crashed while it was in standby. I couldn't receive calls/sms nor turn it on pushing the power button. I had to remove battery, wait a few seconds and then re-insert it soft-resetting the device.
Did anyone experienced the same problem ?
I've never had such a problem on the 1.93 WWE ROM.
Work Ok for me no problem so far, did you make a hard reset after you flash the rom? I allways make that after a flash even twice
I installed the .93 official ITA rom from HTC site three days agò and no problem so far.
I have had also one 'hang' when the device came out of stand-by. The screen was messed up and the device hang completely. I did it a soft reset and it worked again.
Take out Sim Card and hard reset.
help foor ?
where would i find my sim card and how would i remove it? I have the
Sprint HTC Diamond
My diamond keeps resetting itself to the splashscreen page and goes no further. I try to hard reset and it will just get me to the same splash screen as I got before and it won't go any further into the hard reset.
I think that if i can get it to do the hard reset, that i would be ok and be able to get rid of the ROM that seemed to cause this situation. I had last put SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-v7-0-Full-16MbPP on my unit and this started happening right after it was done.
I am open to any suggestions that any of you have for me. I haven't been without a phone or my pda for many years and don't know how long i can go without before happens.

The problem with your phone is that you used a rom that is intended for the GSM version Diamond, and the Sprint one you got is a CDMA, so there's no SIM card in the Diamond you got. You should just try to get into bootloader and go from there...
sorry, wasn't able to find a thread that addressed this. I can't get into bootloader. any idea's how to get into it other than the vol down/reset?
Nevermind. Sprint is sending me a new one. they said it was looped and nothing can be done.

Tilt reboots constantly after 6.1 upgrade

I have an At&T Tilt. the phone worked absolutely fine until I decided to do the 6.1 upgrade on it. Now the phone reboots itself on it's own. Let me clarify that statement. It shuts the phone off, then I have to power it back on. Sometimes a few times in a row. It will do it when I am talking on the phone, using my GPS or browsing the mobile web. It doesn't discriminate. Has anyone else had this problem? These are the versions I have on my phone... am I missing an update somewhere or is this something I have to live with? Thanks for your help.
R 1.65.21.18
G 25.88.40.05H
D 3.57.00.00
l haven't had any problems like that. I just switched back everything on my phone to stock . but than again i went all the way back to wm6 ... lol
If your phone is still under warranty just get an exchange or try reflashing the rom upgrade and see if that fixes your problem.
also on a note: did you remember to hard reset your phone after upgrade?
upgrade
I will try to re-install the upgrade. I did do a hard reset afterwards the first time. It's pretty annoying for my wife (amusing to me) when she calls and our call drops in the middle of our conversation. Hopefully the reinstall will fix this. I'll keep you posted.
Did this get resolved? I am having the same issues...
I am having this issue on 2 phones. One was a 6.0 tilt that I upgraded (and hard reset after). The other is a 6.1 phone that I was sent from At&t after an RMA. They both reboot 5-10 times a day, or sometimes they turn off and won't come back until I plug them in. Any ideas?
One more thing to add here. Did you install a WM6.1 ROM or did you install a ROM/Radio Combo?
Just note that 6.0 radios will never play nice with 6.1 roms
Also, what spl are you using ? Stock oem?
by any chance do u have a memory card in the device. if so remove it and use the reset button to boot it. this may very solve the problem. I've experienced it
My tilt did this also. I found that it was due to HTC home customizer. It took about 20 hard resets to figure it out tho. After installin HHC the phone would reboot over and over again. I reinstalled everything over except for HHC and working fine now.

Freeze when using hardware keyboard

I no longer am having issues, thanks to everyone who offered advice.
My Tilt freezes whenever I slide out my hardware keyboard.
It does not matter what program I'm using. It doesn't matter whether or not the phone is on standby or on when I slide out the keyboard. It only happens when I slide out the keyboard. I can use the on-screen controls to go to landscape and it doesn't cause issue.
Hard resetting only temporarily fixed it. It seems to come and go. It had stopped today, for no apparent reason. Now, after having installed the RRKeyboard Fix cab, it started happening again. I uninstalled it, and the freezing stopped for about 5 minutes. Then I plugged my phone into my computer to Sync my calendar appointments, and it froze again.
Just now, I discovered that if I wait long enough my phone seems to work
correctly.
I am using the official 6.1 Tilt ROM. I have not changed my Radio, and my SPL says
"KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.liPof
CPLD-8"
Does anyone have any ideas about fixing this?
EDIT: I just discovered that this only happens when using my phone normally. While checking my SPL information, I decided to slide out the keyboard and see if it messed anything up, I then plugged in a USB cable and it recognized it.
very weird maybe try installing teh official rom again( not hard resetting)
I thought of that, but instead decided to use this as an excuse to try a custom ROM. I am using Shifu's v10 and this issue appears to be gone. Here's hoping it stays away.
Spl! Spl! Spl!
dduuuuuuddddeeee!!! your SPL version is out of whack for your 6.1 ROM version!!! direct yourself to the wiki and the search button to see what the recommendations are regarding how to ensure matching SPL, radio, and ROM versions!!!

I don't think that's the issue, since I was using that SPL for a long time without issue. I changed to JockyW's 3.56 while installing Shifu's ROM so it's not really an issue anymore.
I imagine your problem has gone away since flashing a custom ROM, or you probably would have said something. I was wondering, however, if you had tried tweaking any Advanced Config settings (assuming you had it installed).
For instance, there's an option in Advanced config under the "Miscellaneous" category called "Enables or disables Kaiser WM6.1." I don't really know what this does, but the long description is: "Enables or disables the Kaiser WM6.1 landscape cleartype hacked (regarding D3D driver issue).
I have this disabled, especially since I'm using a 6.5 ROM, but for all I know that might help with the issue you were having.

Yeah, I mentioned that the problem stopped when I started using Shifu's ROM. I thought it might have been my Kaiser Tweak settings, but after hard-resetting (and not using Kaiser Tweak, it still occured). I'm guessing some driver got corrupted.
