I just purchased my Tilt and have Hard SPL installed but haven't settled on a ROM as of yet. I have been using Schaps ROMs for a while on the Hermes. My question is would someone be kind enough to direct me to the registry edit for giving the band option in the phone settings so I can disable 3G when not in use to save battery life.
Also I am looking for a registry editor for the Kaiser, input is apreciated. I have one I used on the Hermes but it doesn't seem to want to play with the Kaiser.
And I did search the wiki first when it came back up that is
ROM version is 1.62.502.0
Radio 1.27.14.09
Ok. You should do a SEARCH for COMM MANAGERS... search for Dutty 10 Button COMM manager, or SCHAP's COMM MANAGER. It will give you option to disable 3g and enable. It's as easy as just tapping on it. Same process as turning on WIFI. You need to search threads before people start breathing down your anus. READ and SEARCH
This app works perfectly. Its called BandSwitch. Just installed on my tilt the other day.
http://www.commmgrpro.com/jsp/main_frame.jsf;jsessionid=915C64AC4677473FA5F457913AEAC501
Click auto if you want to let it choose.
GSM for only Edge mode.
UMTS for 3G/HSDPA.
It also has auto disconnect.
Click hide page once you are done.
i tend to stick with a six button comm manager. I use advancedconfig to place the phone,wifi,bluetooth,3g,data connection, and airplane mode.
download advancedconfig HERE
Once it is installed go to start>programs>system tools>advancedconfig>menu>comm manager settings

TY for your reply. I was prepared for the flaming I have been reading and searching but was not finding what I was looking for. I was not aware that I was able to dl a com manager cab by its self. I have never been unhappy with the comm managers in the roms that i have used previously for the Hermes. ( V3pg and schaps )

That was exactly for what I am looking for. I am leaving in 2 days for a conference in Florida and this serves my immediate needs perfectly. I will try a few roms when I get back and see what is happening for the Kaiser.
It seems that I have to find ATT TILT Specific ROMs to avoid keyboard issues and go for a WM 6.1 if I want the newer radios. I have DL'd Schap's 4.30 and 4.31 but am not sure which device they were intended for, Tilt or TyTN, so more reading.
Thanx again for the fast advice.

well if the rom isn't for the tilt there is a cab available to fix your keyboard settings. However, some of the newest versions of roms tend to mess up the keyboard a bit if you type too fast. Anyhow, here is the cab for the tilt settings.

Hello all,
My company just "upgraded mwy wizard for a kaiser (tilt) anyways i used to use battery status to underclock my phone when not in use to extend the battery time......
i know it's a different processor but is there a program to do this yet?
You don't need to do that, Kaiser underclocks itself automatically when idle.
Also switch to GSM mode from 3G mode, it saves A LOT.
And what way do you turn off the 3G then?

Another way is to find Schap's comm manager, its allows you to quickly turn off 3G and on. I can't remember is Dutty's comm mananger had one, I believe so.
Turning off Beam, and Bluetooth OBEX (if you don't use it) saves battery life also.
Well since it's a company phone, get permission from your boss to see if you can change the rom. Cooked rom's battery life has a dramatic difference to a stock rom. Dutty's upcoming v4 rom is suppose to greatly improve battery life, and speed. I used Schap 4.31 the radio is my signature, battery last me pretty long. Introduce the rom flashing concept to your boss to see what he has to say.

Yes, hey look into Schap's new Advance Config 2.0, it's has a Comm Manager tweak section, which allows you to add that option.
But you should really look into it, do a search, because I am not really sure if it works with your Comm Manager. And you should turn HSPDA off also, if you can't use it.

Well, earlier I suggested that you read through the post, and do searches. Your installing cabs, before understanding them. That's why I ask first of what's your rom.
i'm just running a stock ROM on my tilt.
How do I back up my phone so if something happens I can revert back.
Well you can't actually revert back unless in might be in your add/remove programs or you hard reset.
Now under your band tab, you don't see:
Select Your Network Type:
Auto
>GSM
WCDMA
...at all?
It's a stock ROM...Play with all the cabs you want! You'll probably have to hard reset, but then you just have to start over again from the stock ROM. The only thing that sometimes can't be undone revolves around flashing/unlocking.
& if you use sprite backup, which came on the device, you can indeed "revert" back to where you were before some cab f'd you up.

Hey, I was looking at the other threads about this and I searched on google, but no one was really responding to the posts, but has anyone found a fix for the comm manager randomly opening when you slide the keyboard, or look at a text message?
I am using:
Rom 5.2.19199 (im going to upgrade tonight, but i have read that this bug still appears in the newer one.)
Radio 1.64.06.04
Thanks
Did you make sure Comm Manager was closed properly and not just minimized after its last use? It sometimes "pops up" for me after closing other programs, but then I just remember to actually close it.
yeah im pretty sure, i mean, its not listed in the task manager or anything. It usually opens up under the messaging program when i hit the notification button on the today screen, and then type a message with the keyboard and then close out of messaging. (if that makes sense)
I'm seeing this too when closing the Opera pre-alpha and sometimes when closing Messaging. Using Dutty's WM6.1 RTM.
i'm seeing the same thing too on an i760. task manager doesnt see it as being minimized.
In the Dutty 6.1 ROM Thread The Bug has been discussed. Here's how you can make it happen.
1. Open just about any program.
2. Slide Out Your Keyboard.
3. Close Your Keyboard
4. Close your Program of choice.

I too believe this is the work of underwear gnomes...
This has something to do with FTouchFlo, I believe. I have the same ROM running and I used to have that happen to me all the time. After I installed SPB Mobile Shell 2 and stopped using TouchFlo and the cube as a test, I've never had it happen again.
Though underwear gnomes are just as reasonable an explanation.

Hi,
Just to report that I've tryed many times, with differet aplications, with and without Ftouch and just never have this proble... (running Dutty's 6.1 19199)
cheers
This issue is already being talked about.... but we still don't have an answer or fix.
Here's a link to my thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1958220
I've also already PM'd dutty about it, and a few other people to see if anyones working on a fix for it but I havent heard anything back. It is terribly annoying.
I've tried re-installing the comm manager, installing different comm managers... and i've tried performing a few registry hacks, but it still does it.
The comm manager usually ONLY opens randomly, once you have launched the comm manager at one point or another. So if you never open the comm manager after you have soft reset, you shouldnt see it. However, if you open it... then close it, it will randomly appear.
It looks as if the comm manager is running in the background somehow, and CLICKING THE "X" doesnt fully close it, it just hides it. The comm manager also does not appear in the task manager windows or running program list in the memory. Weird huh?
This is happening to both my girlfriend and myself on both of our tilts...
Here is what we are working with:
Rom: Duttys WM6.1 5.2.19716 UC
Radio: Polar 1.58.25.14
To re-create the problem, just do this:
1st: open any program... (phone app, PIE, whatever...)
2nd: slide out keyboard
3rd: slide back in keyboard
4th: close opened program
And the comm manager will open back up.....
I use QuickMenu as my task manager and Comm Manager shows up in there like any other app. Closing it from the task menu stops it from popping up.

This isn't just isolated to Dutty's ROM apparently a couple people on the CUSTEL ROM are also having this. I wonder if they both started from the same base WM 6.1
Its not a WM6.1 thing as im using an original tmobile WM6 rom.
Rom 1.56.110.4
Radio 1.27.12.11
I also get this problem.
Well there goes my theory.
Can someone who actually has this problem say whether closing the Comm Manager through QuickMenu fixes things or not? I'm still pretty confident that it's just Comm Manager not closing properly and not showing up in other task managers.
Quentin's ROM; Q-Mobile 1.1 had this issue too.
In his newest ROM Q-Mobile 1.2 (WM6 ROM) he solved this issue.
If you are looking for a solution or fix, try to contact Quentin. Maybe he can help you.
BTW, his Q-Mobile 1.2 ROM is awesome. I'm running it for months already. It's fast and very stable.

Just tested that.. Yup if you Open Comm Manager and "close it" HTC End task Doesn't see it but Quick Menu does. If it is visable in Quick Menu It will pop up. Killing it Via Quick Menu and doing the same steps that brought it up before, it does not show up.
So Comm Manager isn't closing all the way. Which in itself it not a bad thing if it wouldn't pop up on Sliding out the Keyboard. Maybe... If its hiding in the back ground and you slid out your keyboard, since it switches to landscape mode Comm Manager is responding to that command switching to Landscape and forgot that it was "hidden." So If it could stay "hidden" during the switch from Portrait to Landscape and Back this problem would not exist.

i have a tilt with wm6 (2nd release) not wm61. i also have this annoying problem.
i noticed this after i installed poorly duck vista commanager. i don't remember if it was after the rom upgrade, though. please find a fix.
i cant seem to get iGO 2006, iGO 2008 (prerelease), or MioMap to work after flashing duttys wm6.1 rom.
was anyone else with this rom able to get gps to work?
hey, after i flashed to duttys 6.1, it took a long time to make a gps connection. i ended up flashing back to one of duttys 6.0 roms for that and also the lack of voice dialing...i think its something with all 6.1 roms...
omar
i had the same problem i just changed radio rom then the gps worked straight away.

first i would say, next time it's better to ask the questions in the rom thread where the problem belongs to... (no offense....!)
second it's a known issue with igo and some WM6.1 versions - not only dutty's versions (with dutty's March 4 edition it's working,
with the March 8 editon it was working with HTC Home music tab disabled (or disabling HTC Home in general) for me...strange, but true

thanks for the replies, but right now dutty's website is down so i cant get any radios.
i dont even know if the gps doesnt work, cuz i havent even been able to test it, as i said, the programs just wont launch. i click the .exe and the little loading thing appears for a second and nothing happens.
so until duttys site is back up..lets continue this thread?
who out there has dutty's 6.1 rom? are you using gps? what program? thanks.
Im using the March 4th edition with radio 1.64.08.21 and I have 4 programs that use the GPS, Tomtom, Google maps, the GPS today plugin and VITO's Astro Navigator. They all connect and get a fix between 4-30 sec's
Ok i found the solution, and a thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368179
with the current version of dutty's rom you have to disable the music tab on the htc home plugin, i dont know why, its pretty gay, but it works.
im gonna try and install another htc home and see if it helps.

Thank you.
I have not tried it, but this should work
I'm not certain this is the app I'm looking for...
In the standard ATT WM6.1 ROM there was an application related to bluetooth, located in start-programs.
I can't recall what it looked like, but I do recall there was a plethora of BT-related options there (if I recall correctly - they were BT profiles).
This app only seems to search for BT devices (immediately uopn execution). The app I'm looking for did not do this.
Turns out it's not a different BT manager, but rather
That the BT Profiles tab appears in BT manager application in some variants of the ROM ,and is missing in others....
Is there any way to check/uncheck which BT Mnager tabs are turned ON?
I double checked Schaps Advanced Config 3.3, but couldn't find any reference.
Thanks.

This isn't a new app or anything, it's just the latest Comm Manager (2.9.5.0) packaged in a suite. Not very cool is it? Well, the "cool" feature part is Wifi Sharing integrated into the Comm Manager. After going through some packages, I realized that I could integrate the new HTC Wifi Sharing application(as found --> here) into the Comm Manager itself. So after some playing around to try to get all the components to work, I finally got it and put it together in a package. So here it is!
What's in the suite?
CM_Bluetooth_1_1_4_0 (HTC Bluetooth Wizard - Helps make bluetooth pairing easier)
CM_InternetSharing_0_9_2_0 (HTC Wifi Sharing Utility - Let's you share your data connection through wifi)
CM_Phone_1_1_0_0 (HTC Phone and Pin Utility - Configuring phone settings)
CM_WiFiWizard_1_7_3_0 (HTC Wifi Wizard - Helps make wifi connecting easier)
CommManager_2_9_5_0 (HTC Communications Manager - Manages all of the above)
HTCScroll_1_0_1914_2726 (HTC Scroll DLL - needed for Wifi Sharing)
Not much to say about it other than I "ported" the components myself from scratch from various leaked OEM roms such as the new TACHI and LEO, and put them all in one package. I also res hacked some better looking icons into the executables and resigned them, that's about it. I suppose this suite should work with all TouchPro variations at the least, but I have not tested that assumption so. For sure it works on my Fuze. So only install if you know what you're doing. I take no responsibilities for whatever comes from installing it. I make no claims as developing them. I just put them all together.
I will attach both a CAB, and EXT package version.
Enjoy!
AL_CommManager_Suite_with_WifiSharing_EXT.zip - For use in Ervius's Visual Kitchens
AL_CommManager_Suite_with_WifiSharing.CAB (OLDer!)
** Updated **
Changelog: 1.0 - 1.1
-Updated HTC Internet Sharing to 1.1.1.2 (Thanks to Conflipper)
-Left executables untouched to see if this helps with the permissions issue. (no custom icons)
AL_CommManager_Suite_with_WifiSharing_1_1.CAB (NEW!)
*** UPDATE 09/04/09 ***
Added test cabs(below) that installs just the wifi sharing application and integrates it into your current commManager without installing a new commManager. This should mean more compatibility with other devices because we're not overwriting the commManager. But... commManager version might be critical to these cabs working or not, so make sure you have an updated commManager version. Probably commManager versions 2.9+ (Most newer cooked roms should have the newer commManagers). Try the cabs out ONLY if you've been having issues with the commManager suite not working right. If you're not having issues, don't use these cabs as they are the same exact version.
You only need to install one cab, depending on which slot you want the wifi sharing to replace.
(Slot3) = 4th Button from top in commManager
(Slot4) = 5th Button from top in commManager
(Slot5) = 6th Button from top in commManager
and so on... (remember the first slot is slot 0, and not 1)
So figure out which slot in the commManager you want to put wifi sharing in, then use that cab. Use at your own risk!
And don't forget to soft reset after installing! Also, I forgot to mention, HTCScroll.dll is needed for wifi sharing to work also, but most newer roms should have it.
hey dude, thanks for sharing this nice app.
interesting... screen shots? also you might want to make one with htc scroll 2 for 6.5 users.

The application specifically calls htcscroll.dll, so including scroll2 wouldn't do anything. Besides, scroll1 and scroll2 can co-exist, it just depends on which application calls on which dll file.

There isn't enough room for it, so if you want it, you'll have to replace one of the default buttons. It involves a few minor registry edits, which you can do with a registry editor. Programs like Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3 can also reorder and replace comm manager buttons too, but yes, 3G is included and can be used on it.
Here is an example of what needs to be done to the registry in order to change one of the buttons to 3G. I don't want to go too into detail because it requires some registry knowledge, but I'll give an example. Please don't touch the registry if you're not comfortable with it, as it can mess up a lot of things with your phone. I take no responsibilities if anyone messes up their registry from this.
Ok, let's say you want to change the Bluetooth for 3G
Here is what to look for:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\3]
@="Bluetooth"
replace the "Bluetooth" with "3G" like this:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\CommManager\3]
@="3G"
And that should do it. It's pretty simple but you have to know what you're doing. Always always backup your registry before doing any work on it.
Thanks. I'd assumed that Phone or maybe even Flight Mode would be the first sacrificed.. I mean, how often does anyone turn their cellular radio on and off? I've never used those switches

Enjoy!

I apologize if someone has already released something similar. Just sharing what I use.

Import my Reg-File to add 3G to the List. You dont need to replace anything ;-)
I am getting an error about program not having sufficient system permissions when I try to install
Thank You very much
Thank You very much
Same from me.
THX!
Thank you for putting putting this together. The EXT worked flawlessly for me -- great job!
Cool looking app. Tried it on the TP2 - doesn't work... looking forward to an update one day

It's probably because the TP uses a different wifi driver than the TP2. I'm sure by changing the registry setting for the wifi device will make it work.
This is what the TP uses:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\TNETW12511"
Not sure what the TP2 uses, but if you can find it here in the forums and just change that registry line, it should work.

I have the same problem.
I have an htc touch pro with original rom...
Awesome, does this work on the CDMA version of the Diamond?

I have the same phone. After reading through another post that previously used the stand alone version, it seems that only certain cooked roms will work with these apps. I haven't implemented a rom on my sprint TP yet, but I will and I'm pretty sure that will solve the issue. So my best advice is to search and you will find a rom that others with the touch pro have used that allowed the app to function properly. Good luck
