I was wondering if there is a program that we can install that will add a Spam blocker? I have my phone setup to check my pop account and some spam still get though. it would be great if our phones can screen too.

Great!! I thought I was the only one suffering from SPAM on my Kaiser
I know that SpamBully will let you filter it through your Outlook, Outlook Express or Vista then forward it to your phone.
I use FlexMail to move my spam mail to my Spam folder on Gmail.

not 100% sure what you are saying really
if you mean activesync mail in outlook then try disableing the
sync of mails in activesync on the pc
if you mean some other mail account you can just delete it
I think he means can you remove the outlook account from the mail app on the pda.
I have 3, SMS, MMS, Outlook. When I add my Hotmail and Imap folders too its getting crowded. I never use the outlook sync function so can the whole folder be removed?
sorry guys. yes i did mean the later.. wish to remove the "outlook" folder from my Mail program in WinCe2003, on a I-mate Jam..
You cant simple remove the account. its actually disabled, i have dis-enabled active synce to synce bewteen outlook etc etc but still it remains..
My source telles me it cant be removed without neccessary registry cheats.
anyone know what they are?
I know how to do it.. It causes a problem though. Afterwards all my text messages (sms) do not trigger a notification. No matter what is set in sounds and notifications...
Registry editor..
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\
Rename ActiveSync to ActiveSync-
I'm still messing with it to see if I can get my sms notifications back. I'm not sure what else this might affect. Renaming ActiveSync back fixes the sms notification, in case you were wondering..
cheers.
Thank you very much for that sir.
Ill let ya know if i manage aswell to work how to make it go Ding..
scottmbritton - Any luck with this
I know that this is a very old topic. I could find any newer ones, so just gonna kick this 2 year old topic back to the top
Does anyone have a good method to delete the outlook account without losing sms notifications?
I've been wondering about this forever as well.
nope, I ended up enjoying lack of notifications from memory, all those moons ago. ah register.. how I miss yee.

In the outlook mailbox I see a folder 'Junk Mail' but there is no filtering option? Is there a way to configure this? Or any prog (preferably free) which can do this? Thanks in advance.
The filtering is optionally done by Exchange or Outlook, not the device. The folder is there in case stuff that isn't junk mail gets filed as junk mail. That's the implementation I've always known.
Ok. So there is no way to send spam to the Junk Mail folder?
Short of having outlook / exchange filter and you sync the device with the junk mail folder, I don't know of a way. There are at least a couple pop3 spam filters but that's not outlook and I have no idea what they'd do with junk mail.
Thanks for the information.
Actually, you can do mail filtering on the Pocket PC. (You're also STRONGLY asked to follow my articles - I've elaborated on this very subject in them too......)
You can use either use Pocket SpamFilter (I don't really recommend it, but you may find it OK) or write custom Qmail rules to filter out spam.
Please read the Mailer Bible at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=569&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for more info on both these things.
Does anyone know of a good spam filter for the Kaiser that can work with exchange.
Seems the one on the exchange server isn't that good, now on the pc outlook gets most of it but on the Kaiser everything goes to my inbox.
Edit: Just found the exchange server isn't filtering any spam at the moment and that should be changed soon...

Only by setting a filter at the server level. You desktop outlook has its filters set up to shuffle from inbox to spam folder, but it wont do this on the PPC. You need to stop the spam as soon as it hits your server. Which provider are you with ?
I am with Virgin network and have Outlook 2007 on my pc.

Here is how I have virtually eliminated spam on my Mobile. Set up a Gmail account - they have one of the best filtering systems EVER. You can any or all of your other accounts filtered through their system and just set up one email account ([email protected]) on your phone and Spam is virtually gone.
I struggled with this for a long time before I went this way.

MODS PLEASE MOVE TO HERO CDMA Q N A SECTION....
as for an answer.....i'd check the trash can after you delete it.....some times on gmail i can delete it from my inbox and it'll be in the trash but yet it still shows so i have to delete it from my inbox then go to the trash and delete it permanently
i think that's how almost all emails work. that is a good thing because if you deleted some message you received on accident that was important then you can easily retrieve it from the trash can before you "dump the trash"
sorry guys, forgot i was in that thread.... so then theres no setting as to which i can just make them permanently delete? i get alot of trash i dont need

Try, Settings, Incoming Server Settings, and then select "Delete email from Server" at the bottom of the settings.

What rom and I'll flash it and post exact directions on how to do so just for you bud
FWIW hotmail or live accounts have been and probably always will be buggy on phones. Sometimes they don't sync right, they almost never delete properly, etc. You could check from a computer in your hotmail to see if there's any settings for your account that may allow this/make it more functional, but, I wouldn't get your hopes up.
