In the outlook mailbox I see a folder 'Junk Mail' but there is no filtering option? Is there a way to configure this? Or any prog (preferably free) which can do this? Thanks in advance.
The filtering is optionally done by Exchange or Outlook, not the device. The folder is there in case stuff that isn't junk mail gets filed as junk mail. That's the implementation I've always known.
Ok. So there is no way to send spam to the Junk Mail folder?
Short of having outlook / exchange filter and you sync the device with the junk mail folder, I don't know of a way. There are at least a couple pop3 spam filters but that's not outlook and I have no idea what they'd do with junk mail.
Thanks for the information.
Actually, you can do mail filtering on the Pocket PC. (You're also STRONGLY asked to follow my articles - I've elaborated on this very subject in them too......)
You can use either use Pocket SpamFilter (I don't really recommend it, but you may find it OK) or write custom Qmail rules to filter out spam.
Please read the Mailer Bible at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=569&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for more info on both these things.

Hi all,
I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I thought it would have been fixed in the WM6.
I use subfolders on my exchange server and I am using the exchange connection to my new TiLT to get my email.
When I get email that the sever rules move into a subfolder, I don't get an alert on my device that I have new email.
Is there a way to have an alert on my device when I receive email no matter what folder it ends up in?
Removing my rules is not an option because if all of my email went into my Inbox I would get nothing done.

I do the same thing but as far as I have looked, I did not find such thing because the push mail function only alerts of you new mail in the INBOX folder. But you can always go and check the other folders in your Outlook email folders. Just make sure they are enabled on the sync option.

I think this is a problem with mobile Outlook itself. My other PDA phone does the same thing.
There must be some sort of reg hack out there so this would work...

Why not modify your rule to copy the item into your folder, not move it? That way it stays in the Inbox. Then you can manually delete the items from your Exchange Inbox or wait until the server deletes them automatically. Unless you can locally purge the Inbox after x days automatically.
Yikes, that will double my mail storage... it is a valid work around though.
I'll leave it open to see if a hack is possible, and treat that option as the worst case.

If you are using Exchange 2003 or later it should not increase the size. Exchange stores one copy and it just appearers as two to you. If you send an e-mail to ten people in your organization the server only stores one copy. However, this my not apply when users create copies intentionally. Check it out.
Thanks, Lew
Yup, we're on 2007.
Sorted, I'll change the rules.

Is there a real time, 2 way sync, push solution for Gmail? Or even better Google Apps?
I've seen Emoze but it's not real time and doesn't do 2 way syncing.
Any other solutions for pushing Gmail to my Tilt?
No there is not. Reason you can't have real time is the delay involved for Gmail to forward your email to a service that can Push it to your device.
So the closest you can get is something like setting your Gmail to forward all your email as it arrives to an Exchange service that supports Push like mail2web.com (or any other of your choice) and the then have your device sync to mail2web.com over the air.
And as you've noticed its only one way. There is no 2 way syncing.
I have set up IMAP settings for GMAIL, two way sync possible and you get almost instant notification with new emails.
Check in google mail under help for IMAP, or use these settings. Works great with Flexmail.
Here is a post from TangerineTractor on the XDA forum how to set up:
Good news for Googlemail/gmail users... IMAP supoport now implemented, so you can schedule checks of your mail account and manage
mails whilst keeping synced up with the gmail servers...
serversettings: imap.gmail.com:993
smtp.gmail.com:587 use SSL
user name is [email protected] or [email protected] etc...
If you set up labels in gmail, these appear as folders in your artemis mailbox, so moving a mail to a folder on your atremis has the effect
of adding a label to it and moving it to 'All Mail' in gmail.
In the advanced mail options, make sure you check to delete mail off server when deleting, otherwise all deleted mail stays in the gmail
all mail folder.

Yup, Gmail works great with Flexmail 2007, using IMAP IDLE for instant notification. (push)
PsyOpWarlord, please don't state your knowledge so absolute. Something like "Not as far as i know" makes things much clearer, now people are just confused.
Just create a hotmail account and use windows live. It's push email although I haven't figured out how to push my calendar to my Pocket Informant Calendar or outlook calendar on my device. If anyone could help. Thanks
Hi all,
It's not really a Diamond specific issue, more a Windows Mobile one, but since I'm running Direct Push on the Diamond now, I thought it would be ok to post this here.
I have Direct Push enabled (Microsoft Exchange) and it works.
I have quite a few subfolders in my 'Inbox' on the Exchange server, having Outlook sending email to the appropriate folder as they arrive, using Outlook's 'rules'.
On the Diamond (mailbox 'Outlook') I can see all those folders and I have marked them all for sync - which works.
Now the problem is that I only receive a pushmail notification (sound alert/vibration and onscreen message) for email that is not send to a subfolder by a rule, and that stays in 'Inbox'.
When I receive mail that was sent to a subfolder by rule, it get pushed to the same subfolder in the Diamond, but without any notification.
Now who's dealing with a situation like this, and knows how I can get my new email notification for all subfolders?
Thanks!!
I've got the same problem, and it is realy a problem because I've have a lot of subfolders.
Jacky
Same problem for me too... any luck figuring it out?

I've wished for this for a long time and I know of no solution. I have rules running in Outlook to sort only messages that I don't need immediate notification of on my device. The rules to sort the others are disabled. Periodically, I manually run the other rules to sort my inbox.
I have a "different" but effective workaround for this:
Are you guys using Server side rules to move all of the e-mails to the different folders?
I set all my rules to be client (Outlook) side. So when I am at my notebook, the e-mail will be moved to the correct folders. When I am out in the field, and using my Diamond, those rules obviously don't run, so everything stays in my Inbox and I get notified of all the mails.
Back in the office, my Outlook rules will move it to the correct folders when I open Outlook.
Like I said, not the best of ways to do it, but it works for me
A probably dump question, but wanted to see if my company is running push enabled email and if is it possible to receive mail notifications on my Diamond by knowing the following: company is using Exchange Server - I can check my work email only either via Outlook client or Outlook Web Access.
From the above does it seem that I can have push email working on my Diamond? Do they have to be running some special push server for this to work.
I know I can ask this IT department, but wanted to clarify this here before I approach them.
Thanks.
@ EazyVG,
Since you're accessing email through OWA (and Outlook Client), that means your company is using MS Exchange Server(and Microsoft Direct Push, which is a part of Exchange Server).
So you can get the emails pushed on your Diamond as soon as they arrive(or any device that supports Direct Push for that matter) just by configuring an email account on your device with the settings same as of your email server.
Thanks for the info.
So, there is no solution to the topic-title issue?

There are several applications that you can try:
MessageNotify - Installs as Today Plugin, showing all subfoders with new e-mails
You can find it on Softpedia.
And CheckMail that claims to do the same, but the site section dedicated to the software is unavailable at the moment I was writing this post
The producer is called Magicashop
(sorry for not being able to send links to those applications, but xda forum prevents me since this is my first post)

Only by setting a filter at the server level. You desktop outlook has its filters set up to shuffle from inbox to spam folder, but it wont do this on the PPC. You need to stop the spam as soon as it hits your server. Which provider are you with ?
I am with Virgin network and have Outlook 2007 on my pc.

Here is how I have virtually eliminated spam on my Mobile. Set up a Gmail account - they have one of the best filtering systems EVER. You can any or all of your other accounts filtered through their system and just set up one email account ([email protected]) on your phone and Spam is virtually gone.
I struggled with this for a long time before I went this way.

Yep. This will be the simplest hassle-free way. You can even configure gmail to reply from you usual @vigin.net address..
Thank you for your help
In Gmail, you can specify multiple "From" addresses so you can truly consolidate all your email accounts into your Gmail account without people knowing. So for example, I can send emails from my work email address from my Gmail account without the recipient really knowing. Does anyone know of a program for WM that can do this as well? Apparently pocket outlook ties a single From address to a single email account and I haven't found a way around that. I've also looked at FlexMail but couldn't find this capability in there either.
Ideas? Thanks!
