Mobile IRC Client - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Anyone use a mobile IRC client? What's the best one? I googled it and came up with a few, but it's a pain to try and error all of them until I find the best (dial-up), so I was hoping someone could endorse one.

Read this. Its in there.

Ive used about all of them out there i think, and ive landed on pocket irc
'
google it. works great for me, no battery drain like wmirc gave me, and i think its freeware. wmirc is about the same exact program as the pocket irc, except itll cost yea around 20 bucks to registar it after a few weeks.

zsIRC works great for me.
Alternatively, I sometimes SSH into my linux box with Putty for PPC and run Irssi, although not having arrow keys or an alt key makes certain things difficult.....

Blackberry Messenger on a TILT

is it possible?
At work one of my coworkers told me someone got it to work on their tilt and wanted to know if I know how to do it. I googled but didn't find anything.
it states in the article that you can read message sent to you, but can't send them. doesn't make sense.

It's my understanding that BB IM uses the BB pin. Pin messaging is not fully implemented in BBC. Implementation also varies by BBC device. Hopefully they will add more functionality in yet-to-come versions.

It is.
See, "How To Enable BB CONNECT TO WM6.1 Based ROM credit to elec.two" or "...6.0..." on the following thread:

This thread should help with quite a bit on your Tilt questions.
Thanks alot I will try this out with my friends phone. Appreciate it. He told me he was able to read the pin messages but not send out. Thanks alot though I'll keep this post updated onhow it goes.

Just wanted to add here so that when/if others come across this like I did... The above does *NOT* help you with Blackberry messenger as the OP asked... It *DOES* however help you get bbconnect running on a cooked rom.
There is no Blackberry Messenger available for PPC yet, though RIM is supposedly developing the "Blackberry Application Suite"... Though there's be no news on it since the initial press release so don't hold your breath!

Is your friend's phone on a BES? Or just bbconnect? If he is on the enterprise server then security settings might be an issue. I had the same issue when trying to do a wireless sync with MS Exchange. Read the article below regarding the "protected groups" in windows server 2003. He can not be a part of any of the groups listed towards the bottom of the article. On top of that he would need to add the BESADMIN user rights for "send as" and "receive as" rights to his name in active directory. Do some more research on connecting a bb 8830 to BES with Exchange and you will understand.

i wish gmail would come out with a googletalk and gmail push for wm6 like they did for blackberry...the blackberry edition of the google software is awesome.. my sister has black berry and i signed her on gchat and it hasn't signed off in 20 days
I'll be the first to admit I don't know squat about blackberry, but I do have in my hands a CD labelled 'HTC TyTN II Blackberry Connect / Blackberry Connect Desktop setup' if the files from that would be any use?
Thanks but no. Blackberry connect software is readily available from here as well as sems site.
What Sabian is trying to tell everyone is that there is no Blackberry Messenger in Blackberry Connect.
I'm not surprised pin messaging is not part of bbconnect since it is a compelling application for blackberry devices. Rim's stock price is doing well and they are selling tons of devices now. They have no incentive to cut into this by adding messenger functionality to blackberry connect or releasing their "virtual blackberry" vaporware.
However, there are two things that may make them reconsider and soon.
First, another massive network failure like the one last year will have a lot of folk wondering why they are paying premium prices for a service that can't guarantee 100% uptime and are less than open about admitting fault.
Second, is the 800lb gorilla that's coming this summer, the 3g iphone with Exchange sync capability. No use arguing pluses or minuses about it, a lot of execs and management will want to be able get their email on their new toy.
Rim needs to get their act in gear. They think they can answer this by coming out with their own iphone-like device. The real answer is full blackberry functionality in blackberry connect for pda phones including the iphone.
Don't know, I have seen the newly released specs on Iphone 2 and I am less than impressed...
No front video camera to any market...
Only 2Mpix rear camera still
No Copy & Paste
No memory upgrades possible still
No user changeable battery still
plastic case throughout instead of the steel back (though I was always a little concerned about using a steel back on a phone....)
Price has dropped, but it's not something I would go for in a phone. If they are targetting business users, something as fundamental as copy / paste would pretty much be an essential. It's like marketing a computer for the 21st century without a right click option... oh, wait...
(and yes, I know on the newer mighty mouse you do have right click capability, which is turned off by default)
Yeah if Pin to Pin worked perfectly on AT&T Tilt. I would add that data plan to my line. It's so much simpler like that and besides all my friends have blackberry. It would be cool to message them for free.
Iphone for Business!! Ha!! Ha!! Ha!!
Imagine typing up an email that has to go out on a emergency on the iPhone. The typos would be insane. You have to touch the screen all the time. It isn't practical. I still prefer the Qwerty Keyboard.
My next phone will either be the Touch Pro or the Xperia. Hopefully this site will add this phone even though it isn't made by HTC. It would suck to find another community like this.
BB connect feature for Non Blackberry Devices is 45.00 a month.
I pay 50 dollars a month for unlimited messaging and data on top of my 70 dollar voice plan. My monthly bill is 140.00-160.00. I only have one line. They should seriously drop the price down on these things. Sprint already let it be known that "Data, GPS, Messaging, Airtime doesn't cost a thing. That's why they have the 100 dollar everything plan. I would switch but then I remembered their service sucks.
I know it's off-topic but yeah.. had to vent.
Yes it is available. I use on mine. Just download BB client software from ATT website install it then call ATT and subscribe to BB plan. After call your company IT and let them set it up.
Can you explain better? I didn't find any BB client software on the ATT website. Please share the wealth. I need to get BB messenger by saturday because I am going to Beijing for the olympics and I don't want to pay 99 cent each text.
For the last time... THERE IS NO BLACKBERRY MESSENGER IN BBCONNECT.
It is available BB Client for Windows Mobile !!!
I couldn't attach this cab file for some reason but you can download "BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_41.0.0.84.cab" from here: http://rusyn.4shared.com
so did anyone figure out how to use blackberry messenger on the htc tilt?

ebay application?

Hey all,
Does anyone know of any ebay applications to keep track of auctions, or reminders for auctions about to end/outbid on items.
Or, an alternative, if there is a simple application to sync your ebay auctions with outlook so it adds in calendar entries for end of auctions?
Thanks for any suggestions, I've searched all over and can't find any ebay applications at all, and only one that was for the calendar in outlook but that required IE which I don't use.
Thanks!

The site for the app appears to be dead, but it may come back online sometime, or you can find an alternative method of obtaining the program.
Edit: This site is for Palm, but this one http://www.pdatoday.com/more/1657_0_1_0_M/ says Windows Mobile
Hm, yeah reading up on it, looks like it was a subscription service too, which seems a bit much.
I'm amazed nobody else has written such software! Pity I left the old VB and Delphi developments behind years ago otherwise I'd have given it a shot!

Palringo

I'm probably a little behind on this Palringo deal, but how many of you all actually use this? I'm on the "xda-developers" group, but don't really see too much activity on it. I think having a chat setup for support, or one like this "off-topic" would be pretty cool.
I tried Palingro once, but when I uninstalled it from my desktop, it had embedded itself in Windows and took a heck of a lot of work to finally remove it from my computer. I don't like programs that fight so hard to survive against my iron hand of control.
Palringo for my pc? No thanks. I use trillian I use palringo for my kaiser though.

Request: Thin Client for the TYTN II (think MSTSC or VNC)

I want to quickly thank the members of this forum for all the software devlopment and "how to"s they provide. Me and my AT&T Tilt thank you.
I've been looking for a thin client. If you are familiar with other programs like Microsoft Terminal Services Connection (MSTSC), VNC, or Citrix then you know what I'm taking about.
I've searched with several keywords nad it's the first thing I havn't been able to find here on xda-developers.
Stop reading here if you don't care why I'm asking for this.
I work for a small business and part of my responsibility is IT help desk. Recently I've started working on my degree and am out of the office every afternoon.
If I get a help desk call and am at home I started using VNC on my home PC to check out their desktop. This usually cuts my calls from half an hour to five minutes. Seeing as I'm not paid for time this is a good thing.
Soon I'll be spending much more time on campus. Actually, the main reason I bought this phone was so that I could support my office immediately while remaining mobile.
So, does anyone know of a good thin client I could use? Thanks in advace.

Is it integrated into WM6.1 (and I've missed it) or is it a download I need to get?
I'm definitely willing to give it a shot.
Sorry for my noobishness. I've only had my phone for about two weeks now.

A bit of research shows that it should be part of WM 6 but I do not have it for some reason. I don't know what the local forum rules are so I'll err on the side of safety and just say searching google for "Window Mobile Remote Desktop Client" will quickly lead you to a solution for re-installing the application if you do not have it.
Thank you for the help.

Any way to use a remote session from your PC?

I'm looking for an app that will allow you to use your G1 on your PC, via USB connectivity, in a graphical session. Not tethering, not proxying - something along the lines of what existed with the WinMo MyMobiler app.
Does anyone know if such a thing exists?
53 views and no takers, eh?
Damn shame - I'm near a computer for 9 hours a day, would love to be able to send SMS replies via the full sized keyboard than having to futz around with the phone.

+1 20 characters.
Yeah, I agree too. I used mymobiler and have also used jeyo companion with my dash and wing and sending from the computer at times were great.
I am joining you in the search. If I run across something, I will be sure to post the information.
I hear Logmein is supposed to come out with an app for Android. Im not quite sure what its going to do tho.
I'm pretty sure it will
a) allow you to connect to your PC from Android, not the other way like we're looking for and
b) probably be subscription based and require LogMeIn IGnition like the iPhone app.
MyPhoneExplorer does the job nicely, from .at , Austria. kickass stuff !
works for all androids
