Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Recently my Tilt starting having an issue where the "word completion" feature doesn't work anymore. I've checked under Start | Settings | Personal | Input | Word Completion. The setting for Suggest words when entering text is checked and set for:
Suggest after entering 2 letters.
Suggest 4 words.
I think I've located the problem starting after I loaded KaiserTweak. I recently upgraded to a new ROM and it started working again. However, after I reloaded KaiserTweak, it seem to stop working.
Has anyone experience this. It is extremely annoying and makes the device less "one-handed".
Any help or ideas to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
DG
Me too!
I was just about to post the exact same thing... only that I've not pinned it down to KaiserTweak... but that's not to say I disagree... that was certainly one of my suspects (along with spbFullKeyboard and some others).
In my case, this is the standard (T-Mobile) ROM... no custom ROM (there did seem some similar problem reported with one of the custom ROMs).
Like you, all the settings seem fine - both within Windows/Settings and also those shown by KaiserTweak. But I get no word completion when typing emails, texts, no suggestions when entering email addresses etc.
Any suggestions gratefully received...
i had the same problem w/ auto complete & att had me rma the phone...didnt have the problem w/ the 2nd phone.
When I upgraded the ROM, it initially worked. Like a champ. After I started re-loading all my software spb Mobile Shell, KaiserTweak, iguidance 4, dutty throys 3g comm mgr, pocket CM, Mort Script, Total Commander, Wisbar lite, etc it stopped working. So, I don't think it is the device itself. Something is mucking it up afterwards.
Found The Solution To Word Completion!
***Solution: disable XT9 under KaiserTweak and do a soft reset***
I'm using the 3/7/08 XML version of KaiserTweak. Under recent versions there is a section called Text Messages
Text Messages
---Sent Notifications
---XT9
---Threaded SMS (WM6.1 only)
XT9 is disabled by default. KaiserTweak recommends enabling this. If I enable it, I lose the ability to do word completion. However, here is the twist -- if you disable it to regain the word completion, you MUST do a soft reset for it to take effect. After the soft reset, your word completion will work again.
I don't know if there is a way to enable/disable the XT9 on the fly from a keyboard. I saw several references for other PDA models where they talked about this and being in XT9 mode disables word completion, but toggling back to abc mode fixes it. I'm disabling for now so I can have my word completion.

i had same problem until i started using a dictionary and learned my words

Also, had you searched for the problem, here's the thread which already had this discussion, and solution:

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the duplicate question/post. However, it is not always expedient to wade through the useless posts and commentary to get to the solution. The post you quoted is evidence of that. Just a bunch of ranting and raving. I'll never understand why people need to comment other than a solution. Just my 2 cents worth. However, now I've contributed to the ranting. Dammit, I hate when I do that....
DG
Wading? It was the same topic!
Fair enough, although it's not really wading.
"Autocomplete Has Stopped Working" was the topic heading, and it was asked in post # 1, and answered in post # 2.
Glad your phone is working.

Can you please provide a solution to this problem? I have several soft keyboards (SIPs) and every time I go to select one, I have to wait ten seconds for the keyboard list to appear (pop-up). I click on the little arrow next to the right of the keyboard icon and the list of soft keyboards shows up 8-10 seconds later. PLEASE HELP…
I've seen others post some sort of fix for this. It involves removing some software or something like that. Do a search on something like keyboard list or SIP list.
Wait, I just found the thread. You started that thread also and an answer was supplied. Why did you start a new thread? Did that not work? Even so, why not just keep posting in that one? What the hell? Is it a hobby of yours to open new threads to just keep asking the same question?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342727&highlight=keyboard+list
EDIT: Dude! This is the 3rd time you opened a thread and asked the same question!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342320&highlight=keyboard+list
Each time you got an answer with no response from you!
Thanks For Nothing…
I saw it however the solution wasn’t saying why it works. Anyway, THANKS TO YOU, I followed that solution and now all my soft keyboards are gone. The only keyboard I see in the list is the default built-in keyboard. You killed my Tilt, it doesn’t even function after a soft reset. THANKS FOR NOTHING…

How to reduce soft keyboard pop-up delay?
I have added two soft keyboards to my AT&T Tilt and when I try to select them by clicking on the up arrow next to the keyboard icon; it takes ~8 seconds for the keyboard list to appear. How can I reduce this time by modifying a registry key?
As I read in a forum, using a Registry Editor go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and export CLSID.
Delete CLSID and then run the file you exported before (CLSID.reg).It will ask if you want to import the file and you press "Yes".
Don't know why it works because it's the same thing, but it works!
And opening the same exact thread every other day was your response? maybe if you dialoged with the person, you'd get some feedback.
And apparently others have gotten it to work just fine. You are the only person who's "Tilt got Kilt" by this.
Any time you decide to mess with the Registry, you know the possible consequences. Blaming me or anyone else for your mistake is LAUGHABLE. A hard reset will basically allow you to do over. So your phone isn't dead, as you want to have us believe. And then you will say, I didn't have a backup. And somehow, that also will be our fault. People like you make people not want to provide help.

Ha, sorry you lost your keyboards, the saying I like most on this forum is "If you can't take the heat, stay out of the ROM Kitchen".
If you delete that registry entry and NOT restore it correctly I would guess that something like this would happen. You must follow instructions exactly and even then things can happen. I use Spb backup and keep my PPC backed up after EVERY successuful addition to the phone. If I screw up, I would restore back to the previous step. I haven't needed to yet and I've changed something on this Kaiser almost every day for 2 months now.
So don't whine to us, be responsible for you own data when you modify your toys like the rest of us or go play somewhere else
Anyone else got this... Every time i open a message it seems to default to the bottom of the message... i.e. a blank screen. So I have to scroll up to the top of every message i get!
How do i fix this!? its really annoying!
I have the same problem... I think it is rom specific though... I am using WM6.1...Sleuth V3
It's a registry hack issue. Install Kaiser Tweaks and disable the D-Pad scrolling.
If you are using Kaisertweak, make sure you have the D-Pad Scroll Navigation set to default.
fantastic - thanks
when i installed KaiserTweak i basically just put everything onto it's advised setting
Which option is it? I cant find it in KaiserTweak.

In KaiserTweak Collapse all the trees one by one until you get all the way down to PocketIE. In there set D-Pad Scroll Navigation back to Disabled.
AFAIK, this is not a registry problem. in fact all you have to do is to choose the way your messages are arranged
at the right upper corner of the messages application (right below the clock) there is a tab that arranges your message by: Message Type, From, Received, Subject
normally it's ticked to received, but if you hit Received again you will see your messages arranged from the older one you got and the newest is at the bottom... all you have to do is to hit Received again.. And you're done
Cheers

Hi Guys, Thanks alot. that was really starting to bug me, and I had the feeling that the only way to return it to "normal" would be to hard reset, so just deseleting the D Pad in the Tweak and soft resetting has saved me alot of trouble.
Thanks Again,
Tom

Hey guys,
I'm experiencing the same thing with a Helmi AKU 3.5 ROM that I've put on my Universal. I know that KaiserTweak is for the....Kaiser, but I was wondering if anyone knew exactly which registry hack to change to "disable DPad scrolling". I read in one of these posts that it was under the PocketIE settings, and I do know that my PocketIE has been hacked to support "high resolution mode", so maybe this is what is causing my issue (although I've found nothing about the setting in IE itself).
If anyone can enlighten me (probably with a Registry setting), even if you've already 'fixed' your Kaiser, I would appreciate it immensely, as this small issue is slowly driving me nuts!
Thanks in advance all,
-scar
Hey guys. I just recently updated my Tilt to Dutty's latest wm 6.1 WWE (4/28/08) & radio 65.14.06. The problem I'm having isn't the standard tilt keyboard fix or a cleartype issue (I've seen someone post this type of question before only to have the Cleartype solve it). My problem is when i type in a document or even a sms (anything that involves the keyboard) it seems like my thumbs are moving faster than what I'm trying to type. Its rather frustrating. Here's an example since I'm typing this on my Tilt anyways:
Red foxes jumpedt he river bed only to finda wolf hiding int he bushes. He atet hem oneb y one.
Besides my lame story skills, you can see what my problem is. The really weird part is that when i do force myself to type slowly, the text will even "AutoCorrect" itself (i.e. Ate them = atet hem) to look misspelled/fractured. Also, my backspace button likes to choose not to work, turning itself into Delete when it wants to (but no other buttons are affected). Any ideas or cabs I haven't come across yet?
Also, the auto correct hardly works as it is. It won't provide apostrophes where needed.
Thanks for everything guys!
I'm not trying to yell at you, I just have a Reputation to uphold regarding this.
DISABLE XT9!!
So Search for that CAB in the File Repositories and it will fix your issue.

Doesn't work. No, really, I had this issue before it was installed and still have it now.
Option 1:go to setting---input---Word Completion---Clear stored entries. This will delete all the incorrect words which have been remembered by the phone. After that, try to type slowly.
Option 2: Disable the Auto Correct function
See if that helps.
Which version of HardSPL do you have installed?
Try installing one of the latest ones or see in the ROM thread which one the chef recommends.
I installed Vito's SMS-Chat program, after testing it a while I uninstalled it. After the uninstallation I always get an pop-up saying the sms-message has been sent. I didn't get that before, and it's kinda annoying so I want it gone.
I've looked in start->settings->sound and notification, but there are no options for sms-delivered-thingy.
I've also tried Advanced Config, and tried to use the tweak there witch let's you enable/disable sms-sent-notification, but that doesn't change anything (I've applied the tweak, and reset my device, but nothing happened).
I've searched this forum and elsewhere for answers, but couldn't find any, I've emailed Vito but they haven't answered. I've seen that others on these forums have had notification problems, but they have all been about the opposite of my problem (their sms-notification has disappeared and couldn't get it back).
I use the latest standard rom from HTC, 1.93. As I see it, my last option is to do a hard-reset, but I was hoping I could avoid that.
Thanks in advance, and btw, I'm from Norway, so sorry for any grammatical-errors and such.
Use DiamondTweak.. disable sms sent notification..
Thanks for the help, that actually worked!
Anyone have the problem where when you select a contact and then text it takes 2-5 seconds to load the screen with the cursor? And the cursor itself is pretty slow to get input from the keyboard.
I'm pretty sure my keyboard itself needs cleaning as I've seen in other threads. However in Win 6.1 and now 6.5 with autocomplete of sentences on or off I still see the huge delay before I can type. Something feels wrong about this, anyone else experience this and have any advice?
usually turning off any autocomplete or t9 should speed up typing delay
well - stuff like that happens in Windows Mobile
theres a registry cab file somewhere here that fixes this.. do a search
Hmm yeah I have text correction set to None so no prediction or sugesstion.
I'm running windows mobile 6.5 is there anywhere else I could go.
Just counted now and from the time the screen acknowledge my click on text to the white screen and cursor loading is 7 seconds. My god windows mobile grrrr!
Everything else on the phone is pretty fast but wow 7 seconds!
royalbloodvi - I replied this morning before seeing your reply.
I've looked for cabs, registry tweak etc searching here and on google and I haven't had any luck. I've tried w/o quotes stuff like "SMS slow registry tweak" "txt slow" etc etc but no luck any pointers?

LOL. You're a funny man... telling him to "do a search" after all those ****worthy threads You've started.
anyway...
I don't know if it's going to work for You mate, but worked like a charm on my tytn 2 back in the past.
Hey, not sure if you tried this, but there's also a cab, or registry hack which disables the text "counter" in sms which also decreases the delay.
Here's there XDA thread which links to the original posting at ppcgeeks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581901
I have it cooked into my rom and it does help. I don't even miss the counter cause everyone I know either has unlimited text, or doesn't text at all.
Also, whenever you want to send a text make sure your Xperia is in landscape before going into the sms program or hitting reply. It helps a bit there too.
hope all that helps.
peace

yea thats the one..
Thanks I ran the cab and followed the directions about thread_sms.htm
All I saw in thread_sms.htm was <Inbox:ComposeBodyCount> which I assume is not the count of characters and my unexperia rom already removed that.
Having it in landscape mode prior to clicking someone's name definitely helps although first time I do it there's still some 5 secs or so of delay. But if I go back to another contact there's none. I'll keep playing a bit but thanks much better.
Day by day I will actually make my phone usable!
Edit: Also it's great how original X1 users have to wait and use cooked roms to get features from X2 to actually make the X1 "ok"
