Deactivate HTC X-button to use Spb close button? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hello all,
I prefer to use Spb Plus "close" button as opposed to HTC X-close. Unfortunetly the two icons overwrite each other, even though Spb "add on" is the utility that is actually working.
Question is how do I remove/deactivate HTC X-close?
I am using Duttys latest 6.1 ROM (thanks Dutty, again!!) on a Kaiser.....
Many thanks
John

Start > Settings > System > Task Manager
On the Button tab, uncheck Enable Quick Menu on Today screen.

good stuff...sorted....many thanks!

flashing rom and radio wasn't a big deal, only take my advice newb and hard spl and jocky's security unlock first, then you're pretty much safe trying whatever. I would first try dutty's latest rom with its own radio. It's da bomb.

HTC Home

Can this be changed
IE can i remove the weather option from the list of 5 that sit below the time and email etc?
can this section be adjusted at all?
You can use the HTC Home Customizer to customize the HTC Home Plugin. You can get more info from the forum by searching or check out the HTC Home Customizer's website at http://www.pocketemu.com/hhc-info.html.
You can also just goto (on your Kaiser):
Settings>Today>Items
You should see a third tab on the bottom called "HTC Home". Click on that and you can check/uncheck each option (e.g., Launcher, Weather, etc).
Good luck.
ok thanks guys i have activated the htc home option as the 3rd tab int he settings options
but is there a CAB file that will allow me to add in my own custom tab instead of say music for example
i would like to add tasks or something like that
From what I've read you can't customize the HTC Home with what you're asking. If you need something like that you should look into SPB Software as they have a more configurable home screen/launcher/etc.
how do i activate the 3rd tab in Settings> Today ?

If you don't have the third tab then HTC Home is built in and can't be removed without a reg edit (like Sleuth's Rom I think). All you can do is switch the HTC Home plug-in on or off.
you most likely have the old version of the plugin which does not have the third tab. uninstall it and install the one in the link i am posting which is remade to work on wm6 and have the third tab option. but you cant make your own tabs, but you do have option to remove tabs.
1. uninstall the old one.
2. soft reset
3. install new one.
4. soft reset again.

Two start menu's am I doing something wrong

I just installed Dutty's Diamond Rom! I didn't like the start menu, so I installed QuickMenu 2.7 and now I have two, even though my QuickMenu is set to overwrite the default menu!
Help!
Update!
So If i click the windows icon it opens the start menu, and if I click I Start it opens the other menu. Is there a way I can turn the Windows default one off?
Disable Large Start Menu
Goto: Start, Settings, Personal, Large Start Menu.
No Large Start Menu
When I navigate to Settings > Personal, there is no option for large start menu! I click Menus but that has nothing in terms of disabling it. Sorry for the trouble!

Hmm... I'm not running Dutty's ROM currently.
Maybe the setting to disable Large Start Menu is under TouchFlo settings.
[EDIT]
Found it in Dutty's thread!

Got it! Thank you soo much!!
Also, if you open quickmenu start bar, and goto quickmenu->option-> and then on the general tab check "replace system's start menu". That does the trick too!

Quick menu, X, and ok problem!

I've searched through the forum but can find nothing about this problem.
For some reason the quick menu no longer drops down.
When in a program or menu such as programs (WM) the icon top right has the X or ok on top of the quick menu icon, both showing as in screenshots.
I have triend enabling and disabling quick menu in Settings -> System -> Task Manager -> Button.
you need to pick one x button or the other
if your gonna use windows go into quickmenu options and disable the x button and all related options
if your gonna use quickmenu x than go and disable windows task manager via control panel
I want to use quick menu, so I have both Enable the "X" button end running programs and Enable Quick menu on today screen, which i'm sure was default (i have htc rom 1.37.405.1 wwe). then when pressing button, list would drop down with x, spanner, and mem icons and list of running programs. this no longer happens.
to disable win task manager in control panel do you mean in the registry. if so which key, i can only see default and group.
Installing some other applications can interfere with HTC task manager and give exactly the symptoms you describe. For me it was installing Spb Mobile Shell. Sometimes after a soft reset it would work for a while and then stop working. Sometimes it wouldn't work at all. Could this be your problem?
Could be I suppose although it was working fine for at least 3 days after installing and using spb. Could it be from using task manager through spb and if so is there a way of changing it?
anyway i might get rid of spb mobile shell as i don't think it's that good and see if that solves it.
SOLVED: or at least back to normal after removing spb mobile shell disable buttons in task manager disable touchflo soft reset and enable all again.
update: i've installed spb again to see what happens, so far quick menu is still working so I'm guessing problem occurs when task manager is used through spb.

The Original Task Manager can be deactivated from Settings/ System/Task Manager

Windows Mobile 6.5 Start menu

Hi!
Please help me.
I updated my Touch Pro to Windows Mobile 6.5.
I love it, but the new start menu is not the real thing.
How can I downgrade or something else to the old Windows Mobile 6.1 start menu?
It is possible?
Thanks for the help.
use QuickMenu 2.8, it will break the 6.5 start menu and you'll have the old style menu plus. But you'll have to hard reset to get the 6.5 menu back.

I'v actually been able to run both.
The trick is...on QuickMenu, do NOT check the "Replace System Menu".
Then use AEButton Plus to Launch QuickMenu.
You can still use the honeycomb by pressing the Title Bar.
It really is the best of both worlds.
I have installed QM on WM6.5 but I do not have a listing of recently used, neither is there an option for adding frequently used menu items. Is there a way to use the normal start menu on WM6.5?

Depending on your settings, and if I remember right, if you tap and hold, the windows default menu used to come up. If tap the quickmenu should come up.
It may not break the 6.5 start menu anymore...a lot has changed on the newer builds since I last reported about Quickmenu.
But check those settings for quickmenu and look for the setting for the tap for default menu or something like that...good luck
thanks
thanks for the info. and nice sig some times i feel the same way. i think i need a new hobby.

Try putting a folder called 'Recent' in your windows folder. It might work (kind of a long-shot). You'll also need this reg entry (I think, lol):
HKLM\Explorer\Shell Folders\Recent, with Recent = \Windows\Recent
take a look at this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534630.
There is a qmenu cab posted by me that allow you to keep both menus. If you press in the windows logo you get Qmenu, if you press the word "start" (or any other program name in his place), you will get the honeycomb menu.
Wisbar Advance!! It doesn't break anything when it's uninstalled and adds so many extra good features.

Sense 2.5.2, cannot show running apps

Hi everyone,
My phone just came back from Telecare (they repaired my phone), and now I am missing the little tab/icon in the upper right corner to show running apps. Telecare swithced the motherboard AFAIK, and now I have Sense 2.5.2 running on WinMo 6.5. But there is no icon in the corner, so I can't access running programs!
What can I do?
Use file explorer and set it to show files in the rom. Then click on Windows & then task manager (or TskMgr.exe). Then go to the "Button" tab and tick the "Enable Quick Menu on Today screen" option.
Worth having a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664520&highlight=Running+programs and similar threads.
This is a well-known (and well covered) issue.

This soluce d'nt work on WM 6.5 : no TskMgr.exe on WM 6.5 (it's for WM 6.1)
Serge (France)
Just install QuickMenu for the built in Task manager.
