Does anyone know why TCPMP will not open when accessing mobile Youtube videos? When I try to open a link at m.youtube the stock HTC "Steaming Media" player always opens.
I have:
-a HTC S730
-WM6
-TCPMP Ver. .72RC1
-Installed FLV Plugin 0.4.2
-Associated Files-Flash Video, MMS Protocol, Mpeg, HTTP, AIF, M3U, NSV, OGG, Matroska, Musepack and PLS -and at one point all files
-Done a soft reset
-uninstalled and reinstalled both TCPMP and the plugin
I expect that the TCPMP would open...?? Please correct me if Im wrong.
The reason I want to use the TCPMP player vs the Streaming Media player is that the Streaming Media player has poor A/V quality and Im hoping TCPMP will improve it. Thanks.
You might want to take a look in This thread, might help.
Thanks for the reply. Ive read through the tread, different problem.
Ive downloaded the files and followed the instructions @ ytpocket again. Still opening files with Streaming Media..!!!! Its driving me nuts.
Hmm, if no one has responded by time I wake up i'll take a peak into it I never really use You Tube on my phone and if I do I find the default to be sufficient.
In the mean time double check all the menu options in it to see if you can change the default association, I know you mentioned associated files but the program needs to tell the OS that it will take over instead of the other, this might be accomplished with a simple registry change but again not sure.

I installed the player but is there a way to change it to the defaults player for IE so when I go to youtube it doesn't try to load RealPlayer. In the program I looked over all the settings but didn't see one. I also went through and check that it was suppose to handle all file types just to make sure. thanks for any advice
After setting file associations .flv in TCPMP did you soft reset?
Have you installed the flv plugins for TCPMP?
I haven bothered to install RealPlayer on my Kaiser, it is on my Wizard, and I haven't missed it yet. TCPMP works fine for me on Youtube. If you unistall RealPayer does the incorrect file association recover?
Launch TCPMP
Select options, settings, select page.
A pop up allows access to all the settings including File Associations.
(s)He's talking about m.youtube.com loading RP.
Sorry, misunderstood.
I did set all the files assoiciations up. I also did a soft reset. I did install the flv plugins. Because the tilt comes preinstalled with Realplayer it isn't even listed as a program that can be removed.
any more ideas? Thanks for your guys help.
Yesterday I installed TCPMP on my Tytn II. I wanted to see if there was any improvement over the reported jerky playback of .wmv files. Unfortunately it could not read the .wmvs I tried to play and reported that it did not have the right codes. I thought that TCPMP would have the codecs 'out of the box'.
In any case I've just installed and tried Pocket Player but the jerkiness was still there. I increased the cache in the options but to no effect. I would like to try Core Player but can't since they do not offer a trial/demo version from their site.
As I understand the jerkiness of video playback is due to an OS bug and might be resolved with a ROM upgrade from HTC. However has anyone found a temporary/permanent solution?
Well I uninstalled and reinstalled TCPMP and left the defaults setup and it seems to work now.
Do you just get the jerky ness on wmv files? I have't loaded any yet cause I am waiting for my 4gb card in the mail.
I get the jerkiness to some extent also with .mp4 and .3gp files. I'm no expert on audio/vide/codecs etc. I just want to watch videos on long trips.
I've also tried encoding just a single chapter from a DVD and placed this in main memory. Same jerkiness so it's nothing to do with transfer rates from the MicroSD card.

Guy go in the file Association area and check mark all the blocks, now your TCPMP/PLAYER will be the DEFAULT player, if this does not work PM me and I will send you the added software you might need!
I used TCPMP and now Core Player, they work very smoothly. I use RAW Framebuffer and encode my media conservatively 320 x 240, 96-128k stereo (it still sounds great even at 96kb) and a video bitrate around 475kb. I have to say it looks very sharp and clear on the 8525 and now my Kaiser

What type of files do you play using TCPMP and/or Core Player, and what app do you use to encode them?
Full length movies usually from my DVD's, or MPEG2 files from Replay DVR and PC Based SageTV, encoded with PDXE to Divx format.
Hi. Have looked all around, cannot find answers for this. I want to stream internet radio on my phone. I've downloaded TCPMP and Flash video bundle, installed, no problems watching YouTube videos. But when I go to various websites (Streamcenter, etc.) and click on links I get "player:audio codec (windows media audio)not supported by the player!"
??
Also, is there a newbie step by step instruction thread for this, or just getting a radio to work?
TIA,
Patrick

I've streamed internet radio on my Tilt with no hacking at all. I've tried XM Mobile, and Live 365. Live 365 had a lot more stations available, and was cheaper than XM. Live 365 also has about a dozen free stations that still work after the trial expires. I've never tired to stream radio over WMP, but I guess its possible, I just never tried it.

I was looking to stream thru TCPMP, if possible. Checked out XM mobile, didn't have stations I was looking for.
When you try to stream it should create a file in \My Documents with an audio or video extension. You need to make sure that you have selected the file association in TCPMP options & then you can find this stream file & click on it & hold. Then select open with & browse to TCPMP. This may work depending on the format.
When posting about audio/video issues, it's always a good idea to let everyone know what format the file/stream is in. Makes it easier to offer help.

Sorry, had a feeling I was missing something when I started this thread.
I'm able to listen to stations that are mp3, getting error message when I listen to stations that use Windows Media Player. Is this not compatible with TCPMP?
I've read various posts about AAC codec not working with the version of TCPMP I have (0.72RC1), could this be a part of my problem?
Also, have not downloaded any new cabs, factory settings on still, except for a few demo bloatwares I was able to delete without resetting.
Rom v1.57.502.2
Radio v1.27.12.11
Hope this helps
Cheers,

Hey I've recently started getting error messages when I try to play youtube clips from the built-in player. I get an error message saying that the file type is unrecognized and it started happening when I started to really enjoy this function. Im running stock 6.1 ATT rom and have no other programs open while using core player. any help would be appreciated.
p.s
Im not a complete noob, I've already tried a soft reset and looking through the pefences to see if anything had changed.
same here. and it was working just fine a few days ago...
I have been using it, but since yesterday I have the same problem.
To overcome it; open m.youtube.com on your IE, search for the video you want to watch, double click it from there and it opens & plays correctly with the coreplayer!
Explanation, no idea!
Same problem here, but only when I select the H264 or FLV file formats for Youtube. When I use the RTSP format it works fine, but the quality is total crap. Any ideas??? I would like to use the FLV format because it looks much better.
Has Youtube changed its file or streaming formats???
Ahhh, thanks. When I set it to RTSP it works.
Bump for anyone else who knows why I cannot play FLV or H264 youtube videos in coreplayer since the last week or so...
Bump...anyone know? want to use this program to play FLV videos
Hi, I’m writting to you from Brazil.
I’ve got a TyTN II with WM 6.1 Pro and Windows Media Player Mobile doesn’t play anymore .3gp or .mp4. I can record, but not view it with WMP. It seems a missing codec : " No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection”. I can view it with CorePlayer, but there is some apps that always "call" WMP, like HTC Album.
Someone could help me fix WMP ?
Thanks a lot.
I am in the same boat
The same for me. I don't know why. I tried to install an another version of Windows Media but stil the same. It's annoying when I try to run a video from HTC album. "The filter source could not be loaded". One week I'm on this, I'm bored !
If someone has any information. Thanks.
Hi,
My problems start when I did a registry cleanup with Pocket Mechanic. I could do some file associations with Resco Explorer, but I only fixed the mess with a hard reset. Sorry!!! It seems to be a missing codec, but I think the problem is in the registry.
Same problem
I just noticed it gives me the same message when I try to run videos. I also used Pocket Mechanic to clean the registry.
Any fixes on this?

Initially when i clicked a you tube video within IE or Opera 9.5 the video used to open in a seprate player that came pre-installed with WM6.1 if i am correct i think it was HTC's own but i may be wrong. Anyway since i installed real player clicking a link in IE dose nothing and in Opera real player opens and throws up some unable to connect error.
Why has what appears to be the default program for playing you tube clips be replaced with real player
Uninstalling real player makes no difference either.
any help really appreciated
Cheers
Andy
I have been looking in the registry and have no idea what I am looking for, and don't want to make it any worse than it already is
guess I am just going to have to flash the rom again and do without realplayer
You could use a program like SkTools to edit file type associations. I think Dinarsoft's MemMaid also allows you to customize file type associations.
Also why don't you install the Youtube Player app? Makes watching youtube videos much easier then browsing for them in Pocket IE or another browser and having them load up in a video streaming app. Its all done within the app so you dont have to worry about realplayer or another app hijacking your file associations.
Ahhh thanks very much, i was not aware such a program existed
appreciate the reply mate
