Initially when i clicked a you tube video within IE or Opera 9.5 the video used to open in a seprate player that came pre-installed with WM6.1 if i am correct i think it was HTC's own but i may be wrong. Anyway since i installed real player clicking a link in IE dose nothing and in Opera real player opens and throws up some unable to connect error.
Why has what appears to be the default program for playing you tube clips be replaced with real player
Uninstalling real player makes no difference either.
any help really appreciated
Cheers
Andy
I have been looking in the registry and have no idea what I am looking for, and don't want to make it any worse than it already is
guess I am just going to have to flash the rom again and do without realplayer
You could use a program like SkTools to edit file type associations. I think Dinarsoft's MemMaid also allows you to customize file type associations.
Also why don't you install the Youtube Player app? Makes watching youtube videos much easier then browsing for them in Pocket IE or another browser and having them load up in a video streaming app. Its all done within the app so you dont have to worry about realplayer or another app hijacking your file associations.
Ahhh thanks very much, i was not aware such a program existed
appreciate the reply mate

anyone notice you can watch youtube videos(not mobile youtube) in pie after downloading the flash plugin?
I have already been doing so but by using the TCPMP and "FlashVideoBundle.cab" technique because PIE was never able to play videos directly from the youtube site. Opera 8.65 on the other hand could.
But maybe they have changed something lately at youtube and the videos work directly in PIE.
Could you please comment how is the video quality. Is it choppy?? because that is how it is on Opera 8.65 but on the other hand very smooth on TCPMP
Regards
How do you use the TCPMP and "FlashVideoBundle.cab" technique? Do you start with PIE and then, when you give the command to play the video, the TCPMP pops up and plays it? I have tried it several times and typically the Streaming Video player that comes with the Kaiser pops up and takes over. I have adjusted the TCPMP by checking the MMS and the video profiles etc., but cannot get it to come on line and take over from the native (Streaming Video Player) Kaiser program. Any thoughts?
When I installed TCPMP I too faced this problem that when I clicked on a movie in youtube the default streaming media player would pop up and not be able to play.
The only thing that I did which corrected the situation was :-
Start TCPMP player, navigate to Options / Select Page / File Associations / and check the following boxes in addition to the ones already checked by default.
MMS Protocol
HTTP Protocol
Flash Video
M3U Playlist Files (M3U)
Hope this helps
it is choppy but I think it is because there is no way to resize the video to fit the screen.

Is it possible to watch youtube videos on my tilt? i go to youtube.com and click on a vid and it says file type invalid and it's showing real player as the program to play the video, i downloaded TCPMP, went through all the instructions to get it set up correctly, but still the same thing, is real player the default program? if so how do i change that? so windows media or TCPMP is the correct one? thanks
Either get vTap (google it) or HTC Streaming Media. It has been posted here before very recently.

Couldn't i just make TCPMP or windows media player the default player? would that work? if so were do i make either one the default player, i couldn't find it in either program.
The HTC Streaming Media proggy will fix your problem. vTap is a self-contained app that pulls videos off google and youtube. Take yer pick.
just go to www.ytpocket.com it works the best out of all the you tube solutions ive tried
you just need tcpmp and flash bundle. Search on this forum. I've installed them and working youtube and all other flash base website playing fine on my tilt. Just browse through youtube, click on the video, tcpmp just opened by itself and play the video.
Thanks for the help, i've give these ideas a shot.
Tap http://m.youtube.com/ in your mobile browser. Vids will automatically launch in Streaming Media.
Anyone have a link to HTC Streaming Media download? i did a search but didn't see it.

that didn't work for me. Vtap however does work.
ive noticed that no matter what you install youtube will not work on some tilts

ok, i've tried eveything mentioned here and some things mentioned on other threads and i still cant get youtube to work, the only thing i haven't tried is vtap and the only reason why is because when i go to install it on my TILT, i get an error that says " the file Vtap_pcc" can not be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets can not be found.
I deleted it from my tilt and tried it again, i made sure it was from the tilt selection on the vtap site, but still same error, Anyone able to help me with this, i've been working on this issue going on 3 days now.
also the error i'm getting when i go to youtube and click on a video link is "failed to conect to network" it opens up the streaming media player, and after about 5-10 seconds i get that error and it closes out.
did you find the HTC streaming media cab? That's what fixed it for me. vtap also works quite good.
I don't know if you tried the link I put above. Also look at this one: LINK
i used ytpocket on my wizard and now my kaiser. you can stream or download. works perfectly
I have HTC Streaming Media pre-installed on my Vario. I have since installed RealPlayer.
Now when I click on a YouTube video in IE nothing happens.
If I do it in Opera it tries to load the video in RealPlayer and fails with "Request failed".
How can I make the videos load in the HTC Player instead?
Ok I've got a tilt, so I've got the HTC Media player installed and I can now access m.youtube.com with no problems. However I would like to have access to the classic youtube.com however when I click a video it takes me to an error page saying to install flash player etc etc
What's the deal? Did I miss something? I thought the HTC player would handle standard youtube as well
Does anyone know why TCPMP will not open when accessing mobile Youtube videos? When I try to open a link at m.youtube the stock HTC "Steaming Media" player always opens.
I have:
-a HTC S730
-WM6
-TCPMP Ver. .72RC1
-Installed FLV Plugin 0.4.2
-Associated Files-Flash Video, MMS Protocol, Mpeg, HTTP, AIF, M3U, NSV, OGG, Matroska, Musepack and PLS -and at one point all files
-Done a soft reset
-uninstalled and reinstalled both TCPMP and the plugin
I expect that the TCPMP would open...?? Please correct me if Im wrong.
The reason I want to use the TCPMP player vs the Streaming Media player is that the Streaming Media player has poor A/V quality and Im hoping TCPMP will improve it. Thanks.
You might want to take a look in This thread, might help.
Thanks for the reply. Ive read through the tread, different problem.
Ive downloaded the files and followed the instructions @ ytpocket again. Still opening files with Streaming Media..!!!! Its driving me nuts.
Hmm, if no one has responded by time I wake up i'll take a peak into it I never really use You Tube on my phone and if I do I find the default to be sufficient.
In the mean time double check all the menu options in it to see if you can change the default association, I know you mentioned associated files but the program needs to tell the OS that it will take over instead of the other, this might be accomplished with a simple registry change but again not sure.
Hey I've recently started getting error messages when I try to play youtube clips from the built-in player. I get an error message saying that the file type is unrecognized and it started happening when I started to really enjoy this function. Im running stock 6.1 ATT rom and have no other programs open while using core player. any help would be appreciated.
p.s
Im not a complete noob, I've already tried a soft reset and looking through the pefences to see if anything had changed.
same here. and it was working just fine a few days ago...
I have been using it, but since yesterday I have the same problem.
To overcome it; open m.youtube.com on your IE, search for the video you want to watch, double click it from there and it opens & plays correctly with the coreplayer!
Explanation, no idea!
Same problem here, but only when I select the H264 or FLV file formats for Youtube. When I use the RTSP format it works fine, but the quality is total crap. Any ideas??? I would like to use the FLV format because it looks much better.
Has Youtube changed its file or streaming formats???
Ahhh, thanks. When I set it to RTSP it works.
Bump for anyone else who knows why I cannot play FLV or H264 youtube videos in coreplayer since the last week or so...
Bump...anyone know? want to use this program to play FLV videos
Hi, I have a new ATT Tilt, and it can't play youtube videos. I tried going to m.youtube.com using IE and HTC Streaming Media, and it times out before the video even starts. I tried again in Opera, no success
When I open TCPMP, it crashes and gives me a crash.txt error. At first I thought it was because I used the smartphone version instead of the pocketpc version, but when I switched versions just to see if this was right, it still did not work and just gave me the crash.txt error when I opened TCPMP. When I finally found a version of TCPMP that did work fine and did not crash, flashvideobundle and flvcodecs did not even open the video.
When I used flashvideobundle with TCPMP, as according to wiki, it did not work, and TCPMP crashed and flashvideobundle did not open videos. For TCPMP, I tried using it in Opera, IE, and I went to m.youtube.com and youtube.com to try to get it to work.
I have the latest ATT Rom and Radio, and except for a soft and hard reset done after buying it, it has not been changed.
Can you guys please help? I've tried everything, and spent about four hours last night trying to get it to work, the closest thing that has worked is HTC Streaming Video, which actually opens the video but times out before playing it.
TCPMP
Hello mazdabish,
Are you using wm 6.1? Ff so, TCPMP will crash, and you need the recompiled improved version, here. Otherwise, try skyfire for youtube. That should work unless I'm missing something,
Dave
Have you tried Kinoma freeplayer?
I had a similar problem but got it sorted out from this site, download the .cab file from the link, hope all goes well.
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-tag-youtube.html
Try this app, it's called Youtube play, works great on my Tilt(link below).
There is also Core player that has a button for youtube built in, but it costs around $29.00
Get youtube play here
http://www.databasedevelopments.com/downloads/youtubeplay.cab
Try Kinoma free play. It takes a lil bit to set up initially...but once your through that it works like a breeze. It has a built in youtube search feature and you can login to your youtube account and browse, search and play vidoes all from within the player. Video quality and buffer underrun is also pretty decent.
Sorry guys for not giving this thread a resolution, but,
I found it easier to just flash my Tilt to a ROM that already has Youtube built it, took me about a day, but it worked painlessly and was a breeze.
Thanks for the help though.
