Every time I uninstall a program the shortcut still remains in the startup meny.
Anyone know how to permanently delete old shortcuts.
Looked in the windows\star meny folder but nothing there.
/M
<M
tether phone
access via explorer
unhide system and hidden files
/windows/start menu
delete .lnks as necessary

On mmy 8925 Tilt, I did just what I did on my old 8525, but I am having error messages.
I went into Windows > Start Menu > Programs, and made some new folders to organize my shortcuts.
I now. randomly, get two specific program error messages that the .lnk file cannot be found, BUT, when I go to the Start Menu, click on the link, the two applications open and operate.
Any suggestion, other than move the link. Thanks
Are you using the Menu tool in the Settings-Home tab? For some reason when you assign a program to the Start menu, it moves the shortcut from the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder to the Windows/Start Menu folder. This then screws up any shortcuts you have setup (like in the appplication tab of the HTC home plugin).
I wonder if there is a registry setting to change this behavior? This did not happen on my 8525 w/ WM6.
No, that is not an issue. These are links that were listed under Programs, in the Start Menu, that I moved into subfolders that I created; like the folder "Utilities" has within it MemMaid, and SK Tools, etc.
I would create a new link for the two entries that 'short circuit' and replace the old (original) links, but I do not know how to do this!
Can anyone help me create new links??
Thanks
I am not quite sure exactly what you are trying to do, but here is what I do to create folders and shortcuts in my Start Menu\Programs folder.
With a File Explorer Navigate to Windows\Start Menu\Programs (or the directory you want to put the links in)
Click Menu, select New Folder, and type the desired name for the folder.
Next Navigate to the .EXE file for the program you want to make a shortcut to. (If it is a program you have added, it may be in either the \\Program Files, \\Windows, or \\Storage Card\Program Files folder)
Highlight the .EXE file and select Menu->Edit->Copy
Next Navigate back to the Folder you created in the Start Menu\Programs
Select Menu->Edit->Paste Shortcut (This will create a .lnk file that links back to the .EXE) You can rename the .lnk file whatever you like, and that is what will show up in the Programs Folder.
I have installed a version of Opera that came in a CAB file, the problem is I want to remove it but it dose not appear in the Add/Remove programs list, I can see the folder under /windows, how do i go about removing it completely including the start menu shortcuts ect without just deleting it
any help appreciated

Andy
easiest way would be to delete the opera folder plus any shortcuts tbh
How do I make a shortcut to a program so that it appears in the programs folder?
last night my java app disappeared from my applications folder - but the program still exists and runs from 'my device/windows' if i click on it in file explorer.
Any ideas?
From within File Explorer, copy the .exe file, then navigate to the "Windows\Start Menu\Programs" folder.
From here, just use the Paste as Shortcut option from the menu.

Thanks...
I managed to make a shortcut, but couldnt figure out where to put it so that it appeared in the Programs folder.
I recently downloaded realplayer one to my Tilt but decided that I really did not need it after i downloaded it so i removed the program but the icon for realplayer is still on my programs list. How can i remove the icon?
Go to windows>start menu>program files and delete it from there.

Open file explorer, go to My Device, then go to windows>start menu>programs, and delete it from here. the 'program files' is a different area.
Note: using the remove programs (settings > system > remove programs) option would have probably done this all for you.

Thanx. I jus removed it through the 1st option u mentioned.
And i did actually use the remove programs option 1st but the icon still remained
This is common when you rearrange your start menu... since the start menu .ink file is not in it's original location.. the remove program option won't take out the link
I searched couldn't find anything. I want to know if it is possible to put the programs I install into folders in the honeycomb menu, for example put Corplayer in Multimedia. BTW I have energyrom 3.0 build 051209 but that shouldnt be hat important.
yes it is possible, use a file manager such as Total Commander or maybe even just File Explorer goto you program files folder and create a shortcut of the .exe that loads CorePlayer and then move that shortcut into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Multimedia and then your shortcut will be visible you don't even have to soft reset
ok thanks man
dont mean to be dumb, but when I use file explorer to cut and paste shortcuts in new folders, they appear in the folder and on the start menu. How do I fix that?
