Description: Were you a Treo 650 user? Miss the old threaded "Chat Style" of the text messages? Well, you don't have to be sad any longer! With the SMS Threader application, you can now send and receive your text messages just like you used to! The program will even automatically open even if it's not running! All threads are automatically backed up as HTML files, for easy viewing on any machine!
PS - If the program does not function correctly after installation, your device may need a soft reset.
Thanks, i'will give it a try.
looks good, fonts is a bit small on the message text and can't see a way of making it larger
I have had a couple of crashes when trying to select the message thread with my stylus (which did not open it) and by then using the action button.
I have been after this app for ages so thanks for the post
Paul
great to see SMSs like IMs, its the application I never knew I needed.
Only prob is the character counter doesn't seem to count the characters, staying at "0/160" even when a message is typed.
Also, annoyingly when in a convo the "X"/"OK" button is not present, forcing you to click Options >> Close to exit the convo. Though there seems to be options to "close after response" etc so this might not be so annoying
PocketCM also does a similar thing and in my opinion has a great interface. A must have application IMHO (http://www.pocketcm.com/)
True, the way this is done in Pocketcm is really good. I used it for a while but the rest of the program isn't what i expected from a good contact manager.
I have been using shogunmark_wm6_threaded and it has been perfect so far.
How do these compare to IMSMS, which I find works very nicely -
@argoldst
palm threaded app working perfectly on kaiser? did u manage to make mms feature to work? which rom are you using? would be great to get this all working
After a nights use of the OP app I found it to be a little annoying, for the following reasons:
1. Constant notification alerts in the top bar, even when I have read the thread. This means your constantly "dismissing" an alert, just to see if the thread has been updated with a new SMS
2. The alerts didn't popup over my full screen app (TomTom) which was annoying as I had to minimise TomTom just to check if I had a SMS or not. Default notifications popup over full screen apps AFAIK.
3. All new message go into the thread, but not into the Default Messaging list, so attempts to bypass it are impossible.
Think I will try some of the other threaded SMS apps listed here.
Am I the only one only looking for a little program that automatically threads all my EXISTING SMS's?? Everybody talks about these SMS Threaders that only thread SMS's sent within that program.
CMContacts is better; it looks at my existing SMS database but I do not need another contacts app (FingerFriendlyFriends is THE BEST contact manager for my purposes...) on my Kaiser!
The best solution would be a sort of a threader-plugin on the existing messaging-application, but as far as I know that does not exist...
Just my 2cts!
Does it transfer the sms's already in your inbox to the threaded program? Or does it not? Does it replace your inbox as the Palm Messaging app, or does it only add a new app? Thx
I cant find "CMContacts" anywhere
Do you have a link to this "CMContacts" software?

the version i downloaded automatically sets your defeault SMS to the palm one, and it replaces my old inbox with the new palm one. Basically i installed it and it became my default SMS application automatically. Only downside to palm threaded app is that you cant use on-screen key boards very effectively, they all cover up the txt input box in a convo. message. Except when you write a new message.
and to Eddythepeddy: i believe it will thread all of your existing SMS...hmm could be wrong about this tho, for me it only threaded my sent messages

Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, everything works perfectly including mms.
The only negative to it is that the txt will not thread until you reply. For examlpe, if you get in 4 sms from Jane but never replied, it will show up as 4 different sms. Once you reply, they will all fall into a single chat (threaded sms) and will stay like that. You ONLY have to reply once to get all future (and past) sms's to thread.

anything special you did to get mms to work correctly? I (and most people here) get a memory error when trying to send mms.
You can get all sms to thread regardless under options. There should be a setting to thread all messages.
Hi:
I am brand new to the AT&T Tilt. I used to have a Palm Treo 750, so this is very different for me. I have searched the forum but can't seem to find an answer (sorry). Is there a way to turn off that annoying message sent pop-up every time a text message is sent?
Thanks
A part of me wants to reply with the "go SEARCH noob" that I've seen occasionally here and a lot of other forums.
BUT ... since I've gotten so much help here (even if I read till my eyes bled) here's a good way to go about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333898
Thanks so much. I honestly did search, I tried SMS, SMS disable, SMS notify, and came up with nothing. I didn't even think to search for text. DUH! I am sorry for my stupidity
I first purchased my tilt on nov. 28 and on jan. 11 it would not sync to my pc. To make a long story short ATT sent me a new Tilt. When I recieved the new phone I simply installed wm6 threadded app for higher aku version phones. No messing with hidded files, just a simple .cab install and it works fine. Hooray
did get the mms part of the palm app to work? i've been using this palm threaded app since i got my kaiser last october, and sms threading works fine, easy cab install. just that mms gets an out of memory error.

Hi:
Like the second poster, I'd like to know if MMS is working.
Also, would you please post which cab you used, since there are several floating around?
Thanks so much!
I have MMS plus threaded SMS working on a stock ATT Tilt ROM.

Get this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/61245824/MMSsetup.zip
Then do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1569374&postcount=16
Your MMS will be with your email accounts. Be sure to choose "Cingular" as the default for the MMS once you get it setup. To do that, just go to MMS > Options > Servers > and choose ATT MMS.

Hi Grizzley:
THANKS SO MUCH!
I had read through so many threads on the subject, that I was a bit overwhelmed, and was nervous to try it out.
Your instructions worked perfectly (at least so far, lol).
Thanks again!
I'm glad it worked. I have been using it for about 2 months and from what I can tell, I have had no problems.
this thread is a little misleading, this is a fix that has been covered way back in the begining, and grizzly pointed to the correct post for that. The reason most chef's used a certain arcsoft version in the cooked roms was so that we could have seperated mms and sms accounts in the default messaging section.
SO just to clarify for people, this is to use palm threaded app with Arcsoft MMS. THIS IS NOT to get the mms portion of the threaded app to work...

Very good point Shogun. I think, at least for me, all the other threads from a long time ago have so much conflicting information. I just wanted to be able to use threaded SMS, but not lose mms completely. There were so many posts made before this one, and yes I read all of them lol, but it just became overwhelming to figure out which cabs were the most recent, what devices were they tested on etc.
But, thanks to this new thread (and Grizzley's help) I was able to find an easy solution to have both threaded sms and mms working.
Thanks
By the way, I am using your threaded sms cab, THANKS for making it
Hi:
This solution is working very well for me. My only problem is that for some reason text in landscape mode is very small (I usually use large font).
Is there any way to set text in landscape mode to stay the same size as in portrait mode?
Thanks!
Sounds great! Can PPCPimBackup keep track of this program? Or is there any other program that can backup sms as fast and easy as PPCPimBackup?
I have the annoying problem of text messages from the future from a specific friend. Will this screw up my usual messaging? It would see that the phone would be smart enough to know a message from the future if one hour off.
Anyway. I'm drunk and posting. Weeee.
I did the WM6.1 upgrade and finally have (most) of my stuff back to normal.
is there a cab out there that makes the tytn ii have threaded sms much like the iphone??
TIA
No. Nothing like that exists.
Have you considered searching? There has to be at least 4000 threads with this same kind of question in it. Search and find the god dam software. And if you want an Iphone, get an Iphone. Or AIDS. Either would be fine
**MOD EDIT**
Have you considered not wasting so much space? The question may have been noobish but the 3miles of space in your post was even more annoying..
Actually, You're obviously simple so I will perform the search for you. Using your exact terms.
Oh look, 5 threads on the first page with the answer.

Try PocketCM at www.pocketcm.com
Really great SMS replacement and Contacts Manager replacment.
Threaded SMS
I discovered a very reliable threaded SMS client for Pocket PC Phone. It handles both square and rectangular displays. It has some good configuration options for the display and has an excellent popup notification functionality too.
http://www.pocket-sms.com
Downsides are that it only runs on WM 5.0 or better and the license needs to be activated.
Otherwise, a nice simple http://www.pocket-sms.com

Otherwise, a nice simple application which is not so hot on graphics and presentation but has good functionality/setup opions.

Pocket CM with plenty of iPhone skins, and CM Keyboard or I forgot the name, have a keyboard that looks exactly like the iPhone.
And if you want, theres a software which cost money cost extreme text. I just use the Palm SMS Threaded, it works great for me.
Buddy, just do searches, there everywhere.
Does the Palm threaded SMS still break MMS support?

Yes, atleast for me and I can't send ANY MMS without getting an OUT OF MEMORY error. Anyone know how to fix this? Back on my old 8525 I never had a problem. I don't care about losing the MMS selection. I just wanna be able to SEND MMS and still have the threaded SMS on my Tilt.

Hi:
I now have Palm threaded sms, and mms working perfectly too.
The instructions I followed are as follow:

I am using this on AT&T Tilt, I am not sure if it will work on other devices, I believe the proxy cab is only for AT&T devices. You can probably find more info on it if you read through the original post ^^.
Anyway, I hope this helps.
just wait for WM 6.1, includes threaded sms support......i believe it has already leaked and dutty is on his way to releasing a rom for it soon. (a beta is already avail for download)
hi all,
i travel on the underground trains a lot, and sometimes its the only time i get to write / reply to text messages.
however when i click send all i get it "SMS CANNOT BE SENT" message and it gets saved in my drafts. then i have to remember later to re-send them.
is there not a way that we can queue the messages in our outbox so that the phone immediately sends when it gets reception?
my old phones used to do this but it seems newer ones dont..
many thanks!
just wanted to ask if people understand what i mean? i found a similar topic to this form last year with no replies also.
my old HTC (200mhz windows mobile 5) had no issues with this, so may be this is just a registry fix... ?
There is an easy way to do this...
type all the message in ur Tube Train
once all the messages are there in your drafts, go into your drafts folder, select all the messages and click menu>move and move it to outbox. Once your phone will get the reception sms will automatically go
Regards,
Vishal
see but this is the problem, if i do not have reception already then sms get automatically moved from the outbox back to the drafts folder.
i know you are trying to be helpful but i want it to do something different!
imagine this, you are on the tube, then you get off and make your way through the crowds up to the street level onto a crowded busy street where just standing in one place would be in somebodys way.. so i walk to where i have to get to and immediately once i am there the client will be asking me questions or i will be working to make a good impression for us..
it leaves little time, and by the time i would remember i would already be at home wondering why i havnt had a reply!
someone must know where to point me to find an answer?? i cant be the only one!
i've asked on a few more windows forums to see if anyone knows. ive also had a look through the registry myself to see if there is anything obvious which there isnt..
i'll keep posting back with my findings.
I really understand what you mean. That little thing keeps annoying me too, most of the times I believe I've sent the message but I haven't, leading me to missunderstandings.
My old Nokia n70 didn't have any problems with that....sometimes I miss that phone so much!
Please write down here whatever you find...
