Just wondering if like the HTC Kaiser the Diamond has the option to use the GPS Photo setting, I know that with the Kaiser the registry had to be modified, has anyone heard if this is the case with the Diamond.
Cheers
Andy
I asked that a couple of days ago already..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396136
No clear answer yet, unless its in the video's, but its hard to watch here in China. So I don't know yet...
why dont you guys dump the roms and check there before asking here. in short... yes it has the gps photo.
Sorry I am not that technically minded to know what dumping a rom is.
I had spent an hour or so on Google so felt that sufficent research time spent before deciding to ask the question here.
thanks for the reply though
geotagging
i will be writing a detailed post about geotagging using any windows mobile 5/6 device that has gps built in.
must warn in advance that any geotagging info written to file whilst still on the device is not what i will be dealing with (roms and al that sort of stuff will deal with tht) i will be talking about once your photos get to your computer.
check back here soon. cant do it now im at work.

According to the tweak post, stickied at the top of this forum, it requires you to change a registry setting. To do so, download any Windows Mobile registry editor, and install the file. Then, check out the Diamond Tweak thread, tip #13 (I've just copied it below, but the thread is really filled with valuable information!)
13. Enable GPS photo: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P10 -> change the value "enabled" from 0 to 1
It might not be the right place to ask this but does this mean the GPS is activated/deactivated when you start/stop the camera ?
nope, only when you go into the GPS Photo mode.

Welp I was fixing to pay Cingular $350 to prematurely cancel our contract b/c I was about ready to throw my POS 8125 out the window. Then someone referred me here and I'm cautiously optimistic that my blood pressure will once again be below 250/150.
But after reading through alllll the threads on alllll the roms...I'm a little more confused now than before.
Simply put, which ROM for my 8125 is:
Fastest?
Most Stable?
The custom AKU 2.2 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51047 ) was recommended to me...but now I've gotten lost...
Thanks.
I saw your thread on hofo. This place is 100x cooler and more helpful.
I've had my phone for less than six weeks and read a ton right before buying the phone. As soon as I bought it, I did all of this and haven't had any problems at all.
Get lokiwiz first. I used v0.2b and it worked fine for me. Be sure to take extra time to read the instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33796
Select your ROM and perform the upgrade:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/
I selected Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_CF2_A2DP-fixed.exe from the directory. This is version 2.17 and I haven't had any problems at all. I've been following discussions on newer ROMs and plan to stay where I am for now. You can run this through Activesync and don't even need to establish a partnership. I did my phone, then 3 others all the same way (my wife's and then two for the neighbors) and didn't have a single problem with any of them. Running from the point at which you open the box and start going, this takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour once you do this over and over. I've only done this once per phone but seem to be operating a free upgrade service.
Finally, you'll want to hack the registry.
There are tons of registry hacks here:
http://www.indippc.com/v3/index.php?topic=322.msg2018;topicseen
and here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other

You'll probably want to use Resco explorer and their registry editor. Those are nice because you can try them before buying them and make sure you like them. There are others and I tried Total Commander first, but found the Resco product more effective for importing the .reg files I'd created to help speed up the edits.
Hope this helps!
100Tbps, that's awesome info. Thanks for pointing this out. There are a ton of threads with tons of info scattered through and it's easy to miss something. I remember reading that somebody suggested putting all this info in one thread or post and you seem to have done most of it.
One question, is creating a .reg file for WM5 just as easy as creating it for XP/2K? I would like to put my favorite tweaks in one .reg file and import one file.
Thanks!
Well with such a great reply like that, I'd have to agree that this place is beter than hofo.
Concerning Rosco, do you think that it would be better than SPB Pocket Plus? I only ask b/c I read on hofo that Resco slowed the 8125 down more than SPB....but I've been running SPB and it definately slows down my today screen refresh. Does anyone know anything about this?
Also (I posted this in hofo, but I have yet to get an intelligent reply), how does everyone's video run on their 8125? I'm wondering if something is wrong with mine b/c pretty much everything that I try to play only plays at about 0.5 frame per second but with normal video. For example, navigating to the windows media favorite that comes bundled into the favorites menu while my 8125 is connected via USB to my broadband connection, and then clicking on ANY of the videos (they are either 37kb or 54kb) gives me this problem. It's reallllly annoying as I was hoping to later hook up my 8125 with a slingbox--but if I can't get any videos to play normall...this obviosly won't be feasable. Is this par for the 8125? Or is mine just screwy? And yes, this is after both a fresh factory ROM installation and the new 2.2 beta I just installed. Same problem.
Thanks!

Creating the .reg file is very easy. I used Total Commander on my phone to create the .reg files. When I hacked my wife's phone, I discovered Total Commander didn't recognize the .reg files and that's when I tried Resco's product. Their program registered the .reg files but even better, has an import button. So I placed all my .reg files in one place and one by one went through and imported them. I have just under 20 of them. If I ever get time to figure out how to do this, I'll probably try to condense them into larger .regs or learn how to make a .cab.

I actually don't have the Resco product installed on my phone. When I hacked mine, I used Total Commander for regedits, then used Resco on the three other phones. I actually installed it when I was done, but I'm more than likely going to go back and buy it the next time I need to do this. I haven't tred the SPB product so I can't say.
For videos, this might be a more complex discussion.
If you mean recording videos, there is a thread around here explaining registry hacks to increase the frame rate when recording so it plays back smoother. I thought I had it in my collection but don't see it, but I do recall seeing a discussion about this.
If you mean streaming videos over the net or files placed on the SD card or in memory, it could be one of a few things. You may need to overclock the player to get it to play more effectively (this is 100% a guess), try a different player (I've seen people bow down to TCPMP), or the bitrate may be too much and / or an oversized video. Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences about any of these avenues since I've said a bunch without really offering anything concrete. I believe TCPMP is free so that may be the easiest thing to try.
thanks.
I'm actually talking about streaming any video. It's not a bandwidth problem b/c I've tested it while connected to my home broadband over usb. And it's not the server b/c I can turn right aroung and stream the same crappy qualit 37kbs video on my pc and it plays fine. It just seems like the 8125 should be able to handle this w/o any problems...

I use Spb Pocket Plus and I like it a lot. It does slow down the 8125 a bit but I don't think it's any worse than Resco's product, though I don't remember using Resco's. However, SBSH's iLauncher is pretty good. It has a ton of options, much more than Pocket Plus, but Pocket Plus just seems to be a more refined product. You might want to give iLauncher a try.

I was going to ask the same thing lol
I divided these into things I think anyone would want (the general folder) and things that may just be personal preference (the personal preference folder). For example, some people may use Hotmail and thus not need to remove it from the list of Inbox options - and not everyone uses Microsoft Voice Command and wouldn't want to change their dialer to something not installed - so these are in the personal preference folder.
These are what I extracted from my phone after I edited them manually (using the 2.17 ROM summiter cooked for us) and created the reg file for my own future use in case I re-flashed. I think it's important to mention newer ROMs may not need some of these because they may already be there because Microsoft (or summiter, the grande provolone of ROM cooking) enabled them - or the registry may be different. So my suggestion is manually verify the path is present before importing to make sure you're actually getting what you want.
Thanks for that
I installed the fixed 2.17 and so far so good...except for one rather big problem--the battery meter no longer works. It just tells me that I always have 100% battery life and the icon at the top taskbar now looks filled in with a single line diagonally across the center. How do I fix this? I also should mention that I'm now using Resco Explorer 2005 5.40...so I don't know if the problem is related to the firmware or Resco.
Any advice? Anyone seen this before?
Phone = AT&T Tilt.
I found out about this site from Mobilitytoday this morning and have literally sat here all day playing with the incredible, free and wickedly cool things these people are nice enough to share.
I installed the "Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.720719.Schaps.Color" and cannot figure a few things out:
1. The brightness fix doesn't work. I get, "Access denied..." when copying the "HTCUti1.dll" file to the WINDOWS dir.
2. Is there a better battery indicator than "powertray_489"? I was looking for something that came with the new home screen but couldn't find it.
3. I have the "Kaiser Comm Manager(10 Buttons)" comm. manager installed but the WLAN button doesn't work. It just won't turn on. I tried installing the other comm. managers but they wouldn't install.
4. Is there a way to change from Celsius to Fahrenheitfor the weather portion of the application?
5. When I slide my screen into landscape mode, there is no scroll available at the bottom to see the other items. When it is in vertical mode, the scroll is there. Odd because when I installed the “Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.720719.cab” (black and white version) the scroll was there?!
So there they are. This site is awesome and I’m addicted to it already! Any help would be deeply appreciated!
Here is a big hint for you start reading and use the search button! No one will spoon feed you here all your problems have been talked about a few times so they should be easy to find
However much I would like to help, austinsnyc already said what can not be disputed. Read, read, read... when you are finished, read some more.
Do not concentrate on just the Keiser area, read ALL threads. OS isn't phone specific all the time. A fix or tweak for one phone is good for alot of phones.
I'll give you one answer though...(the easy one of course)
When you choosed your city in the weather app, click menu options and there is a box to check for Farenheit.
Good luck
being a new user myself, i can say that the search function isn't very helpful. however, there is an option in the HTC Home plugin options under weather, where you enter your city, to change it to Fahrenheit. also, to fix the CommMgr there is a registry edit you have to do, you change whatever it says to like WLAN1 or something.
Did you try the search XDA using Google sticky post?
For conveniance here's a link:

Also this is not really what we think of as upgrading so I'm moving it to the Kaiser section.

Hey
I've recently bought the HTC tytn II and I've tweaked it to my liking. I'm very satisfied with what was possible. E.g. Gps Photo, I've found a mobile program that could read the exif code of the photo and then I could manually put the coördinates in tomtom to navigate to is.
The question arose if there was already a program that could automaticly select the picture, read the exif code and then would give you the option to navigate to these coördinates with tomtom navigator,... Now THAT would be awesome
(I've been searching the internet for it, but to no avail )
thx in advance boys and girls!!!
i know there are some geo tagging apps that will allow you to sync with google maps to get a location but off hand i cant think of the names. ill get back to you on that one lol
I think its geotagging automator action.. but could be wrong. ill keep looking just in case
thx dude... any luck already?
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had an idea on how to tell if the optical pad is currently enabled on the Xperia X1 programmatically? Is there a registry setting somewhere that shows the current mode (D-Pad or Optical)?
...I actually don't have an X1 at the moment, otherwise I would have have been able to investigate this more. I've checked through the xda forums and on Google and haven't found any hints on this.
Hopefully, someone has already come across this setting and will be able to point me in the right direction?
Also, a second question... does anyone have any thoughts on how to detect whether the current device is an "Xperia X1"? I'm guessing there would be a registry setting for this.
Thank you -- any information would be very much appreciated.
I know for one that the device info is a .txt document in the windows folder. I have no idea about the D-pad though. I can't imagine you'd be able to tell through the registry, as modes aren't usually controlled through the registry - which is rather used for fixed variables. I think only the driver "knows" the current status. Won't be easy to extract.

Thank you for your prompt response Angelusz. Do you happen to recall the name of the .txt file with the device info?
As for the location of the optical/d-pad mode setting, I actually wouldn't be at all surprised if they stored it in the registry. The setting has to be stored on the system somewhere, and the registry is as good a place as any.
(Sometimes, it's actually beneficial to store things in the registry since then you don't have to worry about creating your own custom file format, or writing file read/write classes.)
Anyone willing to check the registry for such a setting? Or perhaps do a search using the Remote Registry Editor ("Edit->Find")? Maybe a search for "optical" or something?
I'd probably assume that there would be something stored in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers"...
Really, any help with this would be great.
Thanks again.
ModelName.txt - it just sais X1i - or X1a if it's an X1a ofc.
I searched the registry for "dpad" - no results.
Checked HKLM/Drivers - no results.
I still think I'm right.

Thanks for the additional info on the filename and it's contents. So, (just to confirm) the only thing in that file is "X1i" or "X1a"? Or would I have to parse for anything else in there?
Also, thank you very much for doing that search, much appreciated!
Hehe... well, I'm not saying that I'm 100% sure you're wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if you were ...I'm just saying that the driver has to look somewhere to see whether the optical pad is enabled or not.
They can either use a file or the registry, that's pretty much it. Otherwise a soft-reset or battery drain would cause that setting to be reset.
Okay, one more request, if you don't mind.
Would you (or anyone) be willing to do a registry search for the term "optical" with "Values" and "Keys" checked, in HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE?
I realize that this is a lot to ask, so please feel free to say no. In any case, I really do appreciate all of the time you've spent on this so far.
Thanks again for all of your help!

it is under settings, there you can see the optical pad icon to change the settings.
you can put it on/off and there is a option if you want to use it in ie (internet explorer) and you can adjust the sensitivity.
peace to all

Yes, just X1i or X1a.
That finds some settings, just some strings. A filename, OpticalJoystick_Setings.exe (the app below post describes) and that's it.

Wow, sorry about the super-delayed response - I didn't see a notification of any new posts come into my email...
Anyway, thank you very much for confirming the data in the text file, Angelusz; and for running the additional registry search. This is very useful and I thank you deeply for taking the time to look into all of this stuff for me!

I am a normal user with pretty ok hang on general computing, but I got in way above my head. I sincerely hope someone will give aid.
Originally I was just looking for a way to 1) get my "tasks" to show on the HTCs interface start screen together with calender appointments and a way to record my phonecalls.
During my search I found some tweak-pack that did lord knows what. Among other things it added the options to record phonecalls, but only in wav and on main memory though.
Unfortunately it also made manila work in landscape mode, which I dont like. It flips over everytime I tilt my phone the slightest and I see no use for it actually.
I then downloaded some registry editor and tampered with some "enable landscape" setting under local user/software/manila and changed the value to false". After rebooting my phone still tilts and I cant find the command anymore in the registry. What did I do wrong?
I even uninstalled the tweak pack, which just made the record option dissapear again but the landscape rotating persists.
I also realized that adding the command again is easier said than done. Appearntly it takes much more than just writing it as I need to insert strings, dwords and whatsnot, and I have absolutely no clue about what is what.
Now Im even worse out than before. I have no record option any more, and the manila interface is still tilting. I still havent found a tweak or app that can add tasks to the manila homescreen.
Can someone help me disable the landscape rotaing, point me to a crash course for "phone-tampering illeterals" or recommend some way to get the two sought for features? Especially the call-recording preferably to memcard and mp3 is highly needed. First priority is to stop the screen from tilting though.
Oh please.. Help me out /cry..

Unfortunately if you tampered with the registry and did not save a backup, you will need to hard reset to get it back.
As Mohamed stated, TD2Tools will fix your rotation issue.
As far as incall recorder, here's the cab but you'll have to search on how to configure it.
I have not used it, so I cannot verify its functionality.
**Also, please edit your title to remove profanity, as it can only be implied here.... **
Hi,
I can verify- it works.
I use it and Resco Audio Recorder (paid) to record it in format i want (MP3 too) and there i want (phone or memory card)
1. Hard Reset
2. Install a ROM which has option to record a call
Thanks for the help guys. I never tried installing roms. Is there a list somewhere and some instructions on how to do it? Is it reversable without loosing everything on your phone?
With the tools recommended earlier will fix the rotation, the worst problem is averted. I still hope for some way to get a todo-list on my main screen without the cost of uninstalling Manila. But maybe thats not possible?

Read the wiki for flashing for newbies.
It is not reversable and you will loose all your data as well as your warranty if you screw it up.
Not many have been able to flash HardSPL lately which is the precursor to flashing a ROM so good luck with that, you'll probably end up having to pay for it, but it is well worth it.
All questions about flashing should be direct to that thread for maximum exposure and make sure to search and read first before you ask.
There are options on your current ROM to install a Second Today program and toggle between Manila and 2nd Today where you can add your todo list.
Note: not every registry hack is restorable by a hard reset.
