try saving it as .wav on your \windows dir
Umm...look above....lol... gues i was too wordy....
Thought I'd take a chance with this one. First what format is the media type you are working with. I have found under sounds and notifications -- >Start >Settings > Sounds and Notifications is where you have the granularity to make some choices. First you have to make sure a .wav format of the file exists in the correct Windows folder of your mobile OS to be able to use the file (*hint locate the names of the default sounds listed in the S&N dropdown list*). Took me about a week to realize that i was bound by M$ file types (.wav). If you need to convert a file from one format to another there are an assundry of apps to look at, but i recommend a look at audacity (only for quick learning curve and open source app).
Hope this provides some insight. As I am using a rom i found on this forum i don't remember the default path for a Kaiser or AT&T tilt anymore. Locating the file browser via activesync should provide more help in locating where the file should reside.
Don't toss the phone or if you want to sling it my way, wy wife could use the device (best I have had to date IMHO).
Cheers and good luck.
For the record, WAV and MIDI files will only work if they are in the \windows\ directory in the root of your device. This confused me when I first got my Tilt because my Wizard would see them in \My Documents\ on my SD card.
Not sure about wavs or midis, but it will use MP3s off of the storage card.
I'm using L26 v5 ROM and the MP3s in the Mp3 directory on my SD card root all show up under selectable ring tones.
Yeah as ringtones. But not text message tones, correct?
@Renegade503 we welcome your eagerness to learn about your device. But your flooding our board with n00bish questions, and repeatedly posting about stuff you can find in the manual sooo
RTFM ...
Just in case you dont understand what that means, and so you dont make another post asking what it means, i will just tell you..
Read The F**king Manual
Please Please Please do some reading on this site and on others, you might want to start with howardforums.com so that you may get a better grip on just what kind of phone you have. You can also read our wiki that has a wealth of information. Most people on here is not going to spoon feed you the answers.
i'm not a mod but maybe combine his threads into one?

all, I have googled to my hearts content and I am unsucessful. I have seen and used applications to add mp3's as ringtones on my 8125. But they have always been cooked into the rom by various people. I am playing with the WM6 rom, I have started clean and am adding the items which I want/need to make my phone useable for me. Can someone please point me in the right direction for this application, or an application like it?
Thanks
Not sure if i understood you correctly, but i am guessing you just want to use an mp3 as your ringtone.
If this is correct, connect your device to your computer using Activesync, and then navigate to: \Windows\Rings and then place your mp3 files in that folder.
Once you've done this you will now be able to use that mp3 as your ringtone by going to Settings ~ Phone ~And where it says Ring Tone[\b] select the ring tone you just added to your phone.
Hope that's what you needed help with.
I put all my ringtones in \Storage Card\My Documents.
When you put it in there, no need for copying it to \Windows\Rings.

I understood about adding them to the folder. I have seen apps in some of the cooked roms that facilitate this. They show a list of all the mp3's and wav's and then it moves them for you. That is what I was looking for. I moved a couple of mp3's manually, but I was looking for an application to do it for me.
ALright i have a fairly simple question..
where is the folder that holds the sounds for like txt message alerts and such... so that i can add my own custom sounds..
Thanks
Please search before posting, unless you really want flaming!, this has been covered many, many times before...
It doesn't matter where the current sounds are (/windows/) just stick your mp3/wma/wav files in /my documents or /storage card/my documents/ and it will pick them up....
Cheers,

That doesn't work for me for message alerts...
Funnily enough, I'd been looking for this myself and found out from elsewhere that you can just put it in Application Data/Sounds and it picks them up from there
This is still not working, for some reason it wont play the sound.
Note: i am trying to do this for text messaging
Probably MP3 files ain't working/supported for Text Message notifications. Why don't you try placing a wav file in Windows folder?
Regards,
Carty..
Still not working.
I found with all my ppc devices as follows...
Ringtones -
MP3, WMA, WAV and Midi. Can be kept in Documents or Rings Folder.
SMS, MMS ETC -
WMA or WAV in Windows directory only.
Hope that helps

Try placing this file in the windows directory. This one works for me! Odds are if this one works, and yours don't they are the wrong format of wav file. Check out the properties of that one, and convert yours to match. Don't ask me how, that's the one I have been using for the last 10 years and I used windows sound recorder back then, I have no idea how to do it now!
C:\windows\rings has always worked for me.

I just flashed my Kaiser to Dutty and as a result it's wiped my Onenote Mobile notes (no great surprise there).
Before I flashed, I took a Sprite Backup. Does anyone know where the actual "notes" live? Is in a directory or registry entry somewhere? I'd like to restore them if possible. I have searched XDA Devs, but there's nothing I can see explaining this.
Thanks in advance...
\Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote Mobile.
I've been looking for a way to move them to another folder but I cannot find it.
Ta,
Dave
Thank You!
Thanks very much for this solution. I copied from the backup and I can see all my notes again.
You just saved me a lot of frustration
I love this forum. Every time I have some obscure question, someone has already asked it and, usually, someone else has answered it perfectly!
Thank you!
amazing
Amazing, I was asking myself this same question this afternoon on the way to school. You guys are amazing!
Thank you! Been flashing new ROMs and needed to back up my notes... this forum rocks!
one note 2010
dear all
one notes stores in local device memory instead of storage card. any solution to store the one notes 2010 files in storage cards. Please help me
just navigate to \Application Data\Microsoft\OneNote Mobile... highlight the "OneNote Mobile" folder, select menu edit, copy...then navigate to your storage card...place it anywhere you want it by hitting menu, edit, paste. Now they will be on your storage card for future retrival

But how to make OneNote store to SD?
Haven't figured that out yet either...still working
I think it's Pocket Mechanic that has the option to move applications to run from storage card...I've successfully moved most everything I've tried with it. Has anyone tried 'moving' folder to storage card with this app? I'm not sure how it works...if it leaves a shortcut behind pointing to new location on card maybe? I use OneNote for work, and can't afford to screw it up and have down time trying to fix, so wondering if anyone has tried that route yet?
UPDATE: Tried above method, and it did not work. Has anyone else found a feasible way to do this yet? With it storing audio recordings in .wav format, it's basically not usable without being able to store to storage card. I run out of memory in less than one minute.
The frustration continues
Hi everybody,
I have been grappling with this damned issue with OneNote 2007 on my HD2 forever. It’d be nice if some of the top dogs here at the XDA took a minute or two out of their busy schedules to fix us up with a way to force OneNote to SD card. I mean come on people, don’t you leave us at the mercy of windows unpredictable array of hangs, crashes and total system annihilations, give us a way out.
I have personally wormed around the registry and found a way for that whole attachment thing JVolger. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>OneNote Mobile>12.0.
Once there edit the attachments String value with your favorite registry editor and change the string entry with the address of the folder where you like one note to save your attachments.
Now if someone could figure out a way to force one note to save to the SD entirely, I would be one happy man!!
I was wondering if someone could please help me as I am a complete noob at this. I recently purchased the Tilt (Kaiser) and I love it. My question is what is the best emulator for SNES to run on the tilt and can anyone give me a step by step instruction on how to put it on my phone. I was also curious as to how to put Shadow Of Legend on as well (cant seem to do it). I have plenty of space as I have a 4gb sdhc card. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you in adavance.
Nick
There are quite a few emulators around. Some people like one and some people will hate it. It's all about personal prefs really.
Have a look around the web http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=snes+emulator+for+pocket+pc&meta=
find a few and install them.... usually they are just a cab file that needs putting on your device and then clicking to run it exactly the same as any other PPC bit of software
Yo guy, stop making the same thread over and over again. The mods keep closing them for a reason you dope.
Sorry man im just getting overly frustrated with this i cant seem to get it on my phone i dont know exactly what to do.
Ok, I'm going to try and close this topic once and for all...
I went to http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Download.aspx and downloaded MorphGear and SNES9X MorphModule by clicking on the link [CAB].
I then extracted both of the resulting ZIP files on my Vista box, and copied them to my phone using WM Device Center. After the copy was complete, I tapped on both CABs to install them (to Main Memory). I then copied one of my SNES games to my phone (I will not provide any of these because they are illegal unless you have the physical cartridge in your possession).
I then went to Start -> Programs -> Games -> MorphGear, and launched the program. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF NEEDING A SERIAL NUMBER, MorphGear is an open source application.
I then clicked on the Open file icon and browsed to where I copied Super Punch Out (my SNES game of choice) to, and tapped on it to open.
I spent 30 minutes playing it at FULL 60fps with NO slowdown due to piss poor video drivers that we have to work with.
Please do not take this next part the wrong way, but if you do not know how to install a CAB file or copy files to your device using either ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center, you need to do A LOT of reading before you attempt to do anything other than make/receive phone calls on your device.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.
Bored of "beep beep" or whatever sound your pda is having? hmm.gif Wish your pda could make sounds like "excuse me boss, you have a text message" or even better, make it say "excuse me master *insert your name here*, you have a text message"
Well, i stumbled on this site and, basically you can enter any text you want, choose the voice, and it will say it for you. You can save the .wav file in your PC, transfer to your pda, and you can use it as an sms! Or even other notifications!!
"excuse me u have an e mail"
"hey pick up the phone" or can u even think of more naughty or vulgar speeches? lol
Best of all its free!
Instructions:
1. Go here http://www.cepstral.com/demos/ to do your stuff.
2. Download the .wav file into your PC.
3. NOTE: the sound is pretty soft, so u'll have to make it louder. If you're using windows, go to start > all programs > accessories > Entertainment > Sound recorder. Load the file, and u can increase the volume by 25% incrementally.
4. Now connect your pda to the PC, and place the .wav file in the root folder of your storage card, or in your pda memory
EG: /Windows/.wav or /Storagecard/hello.wav
tadaa!! U can personalise everything, your sms, e mail, alerts, whatever sound u can think off in your pda!!
I personally prefer Millie (UK english) find it clearer than the US English, and i like Shout (Character).
ALSO NOTE: If u cant get it right, try playing with phonetics. For example, Baronic sounds horrible on the program, so instead, i typed, "Hey Bearonic, you have a new message!"
This tip is brought to u by Baronic, PDA enthusiast. If you found this tip useful, post a reply to bump it up!
The site is actually a demo for a program, that u can use to read any text documents at all on your PDA. Imagine it reading your lecture notes to sleep. how cool is that? If u like the program, do support the developer and buy it.
I have made a package of sounds that can make your pda "talk", and corrected the volume to make it louder on the PDA, if you're lazy to do it yourself. Download and put in your root folder of storage card or /windows. U have to extract it from the folder. No folders. Just put all wav files in the before mentioned directories

I tryd to download it as a .wav....
But instead i had to download one of the voices with is 120mb a piece.
Were do i click to save only what i typed?
or do i need to download the voice completely?
No. You click "say it". Use firefox. And u can choose to save the .wav file. Each about 100 kb only
i use firefox..
but when i do say it... it says it.. wont ask me to download the file
are u sure? weird. My friends from another forum have no problems. Well.... i have a package of sounds that can make your pda "talk". Download and put in your root folder of storage card or /windows.

http://heretical-rantings.blogspot.com/2008/06/personalise-your-handphonepda.html
i used Internet Explorer instead of Firefox.
Firefox used quicktime to instand play the file.
IE didnt.

Great idea!
