i accidently renamed a file in the registry. Now i can't open file explorer or view other things. i was using total commander and the file is in "registry\HKLM\" the file is in between "software" amd "system" so can somebody please tell me the original name of the file?
P.S-im sorry if i posted this in the wrong section
There's no other folder in my phone between those two folders.
do you think "clear storage" it'll put everything back to normal?
i know it started with an S can someone please help me i can't open my contacts or the windows media
A Hard Reset would fix the issue. Sorry but there was nothing else there.
Here are the available directories in registry/HKLM on my WING that start with "S" Haha!!! (sorry)
-Security
-Services
-Snd
-Software
-System
If you cant open Windows Media, you probably renamed the "software" directory.
In registry/HKCU there is a directory between "software" and "system" named "Start". That could be it.
LoL Hope this helps.
Hey guys , I went into my registry with Total Commander and my phone got a little click happy and renamed a folder in my HKLM, problem is I don't know what the folder was called! , now when my phone starts up it can't ifnd MSPOUTLOOK or MSCPROG , so i'm wondering if someone can give me a list of all the folders they have in HKLM so I can see which folder i'm missing.
MSPOUTLOOK and MSCPROG are defined in the following key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai
that's what I thought , it shows I have a Software folder in there already though , did the OS automatically create the folder again once it was renamed do you think? would i be safe deleting the current Software folder and renaming the other folder to Software?
so I went ahead and deleted it and it just regenerated itself again, how am I going to get rid of it to rename the original Software file back to how it should be.
copying all the data from the folder that was accidentally renamed into the new folder , this should work... i hope...
it worked thank christ
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Hello everybody,
i've now a new (not really) xda diamond from O2 (german provider) with the known laggy and buggy firmware 1.37 GER. I want to update it to the (also not really) new firmware 1.97
Is there a way to update the firmware without Windows or ActiveSync, because i own Ubuntu Linux.
Thx for helping me.
Greetings
MrMex
if they have just a exe package like t-mobile you have to download that package and have winrar installed, when you right-click you'll see that you can extract it. then you'll see a signed_nbh.nbh i think, rename that to DIAMIMG.NBH and copy it to your internal memory. then press the volume down key and the arrow pointing to the left and then the reset button. keep them all pressed till you'll get a grey screen, read the text and follow the steps
happy flashing
Hi,
thxs for your help. Is there a special location i've to move the file to? or just to the internal 4gb storage?
Its an O2 exe-file and after extracting it, there are the following files:
EnterBootloader.exe
ErrorBattery.fig
ErrorUSB.fig
ModelID.fig
rapitool.eye
README.doc
ROMUpdateUtility.cfg
ROMUpdateUtility.exe
RUUGetInfo.exe
RUUResource.dll
RUU_signed.nbh <-- is it the needed file?
Greetings
MrMex
yep sorry it's the RUU_signed wasnt sure if that was the correct name
and you have to put it in the root of the 4gb, so not in any folder and it has to be on 4gb storage
Hi,

Click to collapse
you have to press all at the same time, so first press and hold the volume down, keep holding it and press the arrow pointing to the left keep holding it and then just press the reset, you can stop pressing when the display turns grey
ohh, ok, thx - got it, i've pressed the button not long enough - now its gray

Hello ,
I have made this question/request somewhere else but with no answer.
(I really don't know where to post it).
Is it posible to have a copy command in the phone menu so that we could copy a phone number and use it (paste) somewhere else? (word, excel, agenda etc)?
Thanks again .
Hey all I have a X1,
I want to know how to replace files in the Windows folder, can anyone help me out?
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated
MOD EDIT - Moved to General discussion as not related to rom development
can anyone help?
Total Commander: http://www.ghisler.com/ should work
I myself prefer Resco File Explorer...i haven't done a "windows" file replacement in a while, but I believe that method works
Don't forget to enable hidden files (just in case you aren't seeing something)
I will try it out right away, thanks a lot for the reply
