iv just opened the bac of my htc (o2 stella) and theres a little hole on the back, i noticed in this little hole theres a word that says "void" can any one enlighten me into what this means?
thanks
If you get water on the device, the sticker should turn a pinkish colors which indicates to your provider that it has water damage which usually means it can't be warranted.
oh so the void thing will turn pink of it is void then, i was just a bit concerned that it was allready void lol am i right in thinking this?
Yea, you're fine as long as it's white.
that hole that says void is just a sticker covering a screw, as long as that sticker is intact then you're fine.
the one kareem is referring to is the water damage sticker, which is under the battery. It turns pink when its exposed to moisture, and as long as it is white you're good
Here is a post I did on it before showing places on the photo I took of my device to help.

Can any body else with ATT tilt take the battery cover off and see if it says void in white letters in the 3rd hole closer to the right (last one on the right after the antena) very strange I never noticed this before.
Maybe non tilt peeps can see as well. Thanks

Lol! Too funny!
Void? Sometimes is about warranty.
Some company, for trying to be sure you won't try to fix something and then decide to give it back to them for an exchange, they put this stickers and the idea of VOID is that, if you remove that sticker, then your warranty is void, cause you tried to "fix" instead of send it to them.
What he is talking about, is NOT a sticker. Its something INSIDE the 3rd home from the right. You have the two GPS plugs on the left, above the camera port, and between the camera port, and the speaker, is a 3rd small hole, and inside says VOID. Again, its not a sticker placed over a hole, but something about 1MM down INSIDE a hole. I have the same "void" showing on my phone.
Good god, seriously? Can't anyone search?
It's a water damage sticker. It turns red/orange if it's wet. Feel free to try it.
It IS a sticker

It actually IS a sticker. It is made of a hard, brittle plastic that is designed to break up and fall apart if an attempt is made to remove it. My AT&T Tilt had one over the lower right screw. On your phone, the sticker is stuck to the top of the torx head screw, which is recessed about 1mm in the hole.
Like someone else said, if you return the phone and sticker is gone, No warranty return for you.
It is not the water damage sticker. The water damage sticker is yellow/off white, square, and doesn't say "void". It turns red/pink when exposed to water. There is one inside the battery compartment and one or two inside the phone (stuck to the mainboard). They serve much the same purpose, though. If they have changed color, no warranty return for you.
Thanks for the info. I thought that the VOID sticker was part of a shock detection system, that if dropped, moved the void word into view, thus voiding the phone. I guess a big dent in the case does the same job.
Hahah almost right after I got my tilt, i poked that gently and it went through.
*Facepalm*
What is the void sticker under the battery cover on my TILT? Is it supposed to be showing?
As a guess...I'd say no.
Usually that happens when a sticker that needs to be removed to open the device is removed, leaving behind the word void repeated several times. It's impossible to replace the sticker and lets the service outlet know you've been fiddling. If you haven't been fiddling, I'd be worried you have a badly recon'd unit...

WHAT THE ****.....
I ordered a refurb to replace my brand new TILT and my new Tilt has the VOID STICKER showing under the battery cover.
I haven't done ANYTHING under the cover, only flashed a ROM. It works perfect. Now I'm scared i can't return this because of that stupid sticker for some reason showing!!!
So either my new or old tilt is messed up
Its ok, relax. Im guessing your talking about the void sticker that is covering the screw in the left bottom corner? My Brand new tilt from att has it too. Its so you cant get in with out takin the sticker off. Cheers!
The void sticker should be covering one of the #5 torx screws on the back. In order to open the phone, you would have to remove the void sticker, thus voiding your warranty. No worries everyone has a void sticker not just you.
Oh that lil sticker! Bout 1mm big? I hadn't even noticed it before! I thought there was another sticker that when removed revealed the word void. That little thing seems awfully easy to remove and replace. Not going to try though! Sorry for the panic!
It's definately normal - my MDA Vario III has exactly what you describe showing (and has done from the box).
It's only normal if you're talking about the little black sticker with white letters covering the screw.
If you're talking about the white sticker behind the battery & it has Red letters saying VOID, then you need to worry. That is the moisture meter sticker & it means your device has been wet enough to activate the sticker.
ha, yeah thats the one. phew...thanks guys.
now to find out why my refurb I got has no sticker....
warranty dept just asked me color of same sticker....I truthfully said whitish but slightly greenish...i thought all I needed was a battery/charger for my dead phone but they said phone needed replacement...I noticed black VOID capscrew right after hanging up...googled up you guys. I was warned warranty void if moisture damage. Does no red VOID mean no chance they will try to say moisture involved and deny warranty? ( another post said they tried him) should sticker have been brighter white? I dont want any surprises after I send mine back.
When the diamond back cover is off, i have noticed two small indended discs with the word "VOID" written on them. They are positioned to the left of the camera lens and to the right of the stylus head.
Has anyone got any idea what these mean?
Is it by any chance referring to the warranty being void due to water damage? (my worst fear. . .)
Probably stickers over screws which void the warranty when removed ie, you've taken thee phone apart.
As above, they mean "void if removed"
yup its the screws. I opened it up to perform surgery on the diamond to improve audio.
ok, thanks for replies, (phew) that puts my mind at ease

there's a thread around here somewhere...
Basically you unscrew, cut out the plastic covering the speaker.
Those VOID stickers had me worried! I thought I'd done something wrong.
Thank you for the reassurance.
I had a Motorola some years ago where a white area inside turned red, and I was told that meant it had been dropped in water and the warranty was void. It hadn't, and it's still working fine (daughter has it).

not VOID due to water damage, but VOID since you removed the screws...
I know the G1 has two water damaged stickers. One on the side, and one on the main board. I also know T-Mo wont accept it if the one on the side is pink/red. What I don't know is, if the one on the side is white, and the one inside is pink, what will happen then?
If you don't know, then you don't know right? Will they still charge your account if you sent it in for a replacement?
Ideas, own experience, or thoughts?
So you opened up your phone to see the if the mainboard has water damage? Wouldn't that void the warranty already.

Based on the HTC repair manual, on page 96 of 113 (or search for water), it shows there are (2) water damage stickers. But whats interesting (too me) is the one on the side says "this label assemble by vender" while the one on the board doesnt.
There seems to be a few of these white stickers that say pass everywhere. I'm not sure if they are water damage stickers or not.
I believe that if you have a red sticker of waterproof they wont repair it for free, I bought it from someone else and it works perfectly but..
In the charger white sticker is red instead of white and I can see some light going out from the screen meaning there is a small gap in the charger stuff..
Conclusion: Waterproof sticker is red, phone works perfectly but if I have any kind of problem Sony wont take charge due to the red sticker meaning the old user didnt close it correctly before puting it in water? (I've tried it in water and there is no problem at all.. so what does the red sticker mean?)
Well, red sticker means that port was exposed to some kind of moisture, or even humidity/water. The flap probably wasn't sealed properly and the sticker turned red.
Some say that Sony still repairs phones with red stickers under warranty if you can prove that there was a defect in water resistance. Meaning you closed the flaps but they still couldn't provide an appropiated seal agains't water. But since you say that they work, you are pretty much screwed, warranty wise.
If you got the phone for cheap, well, live with it. If you got it at full price or close to it, I'd ask for a refund.

so.. if it doesnt work due to this they would probably repair it (due to water)? but if It just stops working or explodes they wouldn't?
then I will have to lie and say I closed correctly but water went in and now it doesnt turn ON!
hope nothinghappens in these 1.5 years of warranty XD
