my diamond reboots itself..! - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi all,
just wondering is there anyone who experience same problem as mine..?
After couple of day of use, my diamond start to reboots itself without any reason.. i've done hard reset, didn't install any program. I have synced with my computer and that's all i've done and it just reboots on me!
it happens so randomly.. so i don't really see any direct cause..
usually happens when i open and try to edit contacts, or trying to reply sms..
doesn't happen very often though. after reset, it stays stable for a while.. and suddenly happens again next day.
any advice? should i try to re-install rom?
i got this from ebay overseas and i don't really want to go thru the hassle of sending back for a/s
Thanks in advance

When you hard reset, did you choose the option to clear 'Internal Storage' as well?

mod edit: Please be polite on the forums, and read the FAQ before posting

oh..
@marisa
No I haven't tried that.. thank you i'll give it a go
@cammy
well, thanks to you too. i don't expect to get diamond in my country so ebay is kinda my only choice. hope you don't have to wait long

There's absolutely no need for that. They're clearly more enthusiastic about this device than you, so accept that - and they've found quite an interesting problem that hasn't been found before...

Play nice. He found an issue. When you get yours, and it has the same issue, wouldn't it be nice to know an answer?

no flack please....

have a few questions and until now didn't find answers here or goooglelswhere.
please, don't throw stones, i am a sensible guy...
1. how to hard reset it (the diamond, of course)?
2. can be volume during call tweaked (very low in comparison with my beloved and abandoned trinity)
3. does anybody succeed in installing iGO8? the strange thing is that i did install with no problems the igo in my trinity (no biggy) and in my athena (also with a microdrive/internal storage and vga). if it worked for athena why is'nt working for diamond?
4. how to disable the touch flow? solved...shame on me...
thank you for yr patience, please don't tell me that the answers are "somewhere here"....
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
2. use the volume buttons on the left side of your pda =.=
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397019 finding it damn hard not to flame about this, since there was a specific thread and i'm pretty sure it'd have turned up in search

You obviously didnt bother to even have a scan through the this forum. There's only 3 pages of threads even here!
You can say don't throw stones etc, but we're not here to go and find everything for you, stop being so damn lazy! And you obviously are not a sensible guy.
Thats actually why i didnt bother to answer your questions, after not getting a reply you might have put 2 minutes into it and found it yourself.

Here's a good list for you:
1. Find out how to connect and explore your device's file structure.
2. Find out what a "cab" file is.
3. Learn to install/uninstall cab files.
4. Browse phone settings.
5. Read FAQ sections and understand what is a ROM, what are the dangers associated with "flashing". Decide if you're ready for it or not.
6. Drop in the "development and hacking" forum, see if there are any programs you find useful. Try them out, you'll learn a lot by installing/using/uninstalling stuff.
Thanks all of you, I was really few guides but im still confused. Im currently using t-mobile with its Total Internet. And everything is working. Wow! What a noob. (and I'm not saying that to insult). You have a long way to go before you ask those kinds of questions. It's like my 8 year old asking about the big bang theroy. I can answer, but he won't understand.
I'm gonna say the same thing as eveybody else, READ as much as you can before asking a bunch of questions. You won't understand the answers you get untill you do.
One more tip. Part of my job is training people how to use diagnostic equipment. I always leave them with a 4 word rule to continue learning the equipment after the training. And that is..... Push The Damn Buttons.

This subject is all covered extremely thoroughly. Do yourself a favor man and go to the Kaiser WIKI here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser . If you dont find an answer there, then there is NO fix for you. We call this error the ID-10T error and its unfortunately unrecoverable, and thusly, causes irreversible damage....... especially to your reputation here at XDA-Developers
P.S.
Research the HARDSPL issue first You cant flash roms without first modding your bootloader as it prevents you from installing non-official ROMS........

Can Call Duration be cleared... anyone know? Any tweaks / proggies to assist?

Start, Settings, System, Device Information... Call Duration. How do you wipe those figures from your handset folks? Must be a way somehow but how?!
Please gimme a clue cus i'm trying to sell my handset 'as new' and even though i've only used the phone for about 2 hours total, in and outgoing, it'd still be nice to have no comebacks with it.
Besides... someone else might need this info for some other reason to so if you know... shout loudly please!!!!!!!!
By the way... ROM changing doesn't do a thing. Looks like it's part of the handset's brain so... well i dunno now actually! HELP!!! lol

There are 3 command you can enter:
Code:
[email protected]?1
[email protected]?0
[email protected]=270F,270F
These do the following

[email protected]?0 - Shows Inbound time in HEX
[email protected]=270F,270F - Reset both timers to zero.

I am truly amazed at the amount of help offered to someone who wants to sell a used phone as new. Spare a thought for the poor sod who will be conned into this. And please don't start the "it's like new business", you know it isn't.
You might need security unlock or Hard SPL at least to do this.
So if you have HardSPL already, you possibly need security unlock. Security unlock is still been worked on at the moment, so you could be stuck for a while.
Sorry, but I don't own a Blackstone to test on.
Thanks

What I am trying to bring to this thread is a bit of ethos and concern for the guy to whom you will flock your wears. 3 days or 133 days you have no right to clock it and present it for something it isn't. It is also illegal.

Illegal? Well 2 things.
1. As you'll have noticed, i'm new to all this side of things as far as XDA goes so i was unaware of that.
2. Tell that to everyone else and quit hassling me.
The ethics and ethos of this have been discussed everytime a thread like this is started.
As this is not possible at the moment I see no need for this discussion to continue.

[Discontinued]- Stock GT-P6800 *Rooted, Deodexed and Zipligned*

Hey Everyone. I just wanted to let all of you know that I am very sorry about the screw-up on my part that led to damage of a few users devices. The error was all mine and it is inexcusable. Please know that I take this very seriously, to the point of losing sleep over it. As I have stated many times, I would like to pay for the cost of the bricked users JTAG repairs. Please just PM me.
I also want to apologize for my defensive attitude over the course of the past couple of days. I have never screwed up like this on these forums and I wasn't sure how to handle it.
There is some good news that has come out of this, however. I have been working with Task650 of GT 10.1 fame, an amazing dev and person, I might add, and we have come up with a beta ROM that I am running now that will be safe to flash and better than the original ROM I posted in terms of speed, stability and overall performance. I plan to have a private beta, and will ask for testers in a separate thread after Task650 and I have made sure that everything is OK and it is ultra-safe...
I have been humbled a great deal through this experience, and I believe it will make me a better developer. I have already learned a lot from Task and all of your posts, and I hope that I will be able to earn your trust with smooth, stable and innovative ROMs to come.

In another thread, you said you bricked cooking your own ROM. So which is it? Not trying to be testy, just wondering, so I can figure out what the issue is.
BTW - where are the bricked users from?
OK
So, flashed again, still fine. THe issue must be with the couple/few people's devices that bricked, or the installation process was messed up in some way. BTW, am NOT saying its anyone's fault, just saying that there must be something unique to your tab, or how you installed that caused the problem. So, if anyone has been "bricked", please let me know the following:
1. You did a full wipe, right?
2. You flashed on galaxy tab 7.7 wifi and 3g, not the wifi-only version, correct?
3. Where are you located and what was your build before flashing?
I am not asking these questions to be rude or defensive, I just want to know what's going on. I have had thousands (over 10k) of people download and flash my ROMS (search "Magnolia" in XDA), and have NEVER had anyone brick their device on my ROMs. I am known and respected by most or all U.S. developers for Verizon, so I am not some hack.
Thanks.
Steve
One last question...
Can you power on while holding down the Volume up key simultaneously? I am guessing, no, but thought I'd check. I just dont see how a device can be bricked when there is no firmware/radio, etc. being flashed. Not saying it can't, but it's weird...
EDIT - Try removing the SIM, too.

Nope. Only two users have had problems with it, that I am aware of. The other 148 seem to have been fine. However, if you are not willing to take a risk, don't flash it. Simple.

Definitely not offended, sorry if I came off that way. I just wanted to clear up that it is apparently a VERY small minority (2 users, that I know of, and one other who bricked cooking his own ROM and then came here to state that he was bricked for some reason) that seem to have this issue, and, in fact, samsung tabs seem to have the "wont turn on issue" anyway, so I am not sure if it's the ROM, the devices, or what. I just don't like the dissemination of potentially misleading statements, intentional or otherwise.
Thanks again for your post.

[Q] Might have screwed my HTC One

Hi guys, I might have messed up my HTC One and would like to see if anyone has any insights. The phone originally has TWRP installed. I then download ROM Manager and install CWM on it. I restarted the phone and now it can no longer power back on. Is there anyway to save the phone?

Oh please benevolent Android gods rain down your furious Android justice upon this unworthy phone is bavkoid user before he bricks his phone for real (if he hasn't already). Listen OP, you've given no information, nobody knows what the hell you've done, and then you are hostile when I try and communicsuggest worthlessness of the information in your original post. There are a dozens of lazy entitled idiots like yourself who post the same rubbish on these forums everyday so before you start telling me, when all I'm doing is trying to help you, to keep my trap shut, I'd consider the facts that you're the ones who knows bugger all, you're the one who's phone isn't working, you're the one who needs helps and I, out of the generousness of my humanitarian compassionate soul, am trying to help you. listen postfatal I don't know what kind of help have you offered. Since the only thing you did is to mock. If you think I should've done a search first then just tell me. There's no need to write a whole godamn essay. Use that kind of attitude and see how fast you can last in a job.
Btw, thanks to all those who did suggest something and refrained from sarcasm. I've figured out what happened and the phone is back up and running.

So how was it fixed? I am sure it would be useful to someone else.

The phone was just acting weird. I had to press the power button + volume down for 20 seconds to get back into recovery. It has never happened before.

Was your home and back button flashing when you tried to do power and volume down at first? First time I saw that I thought something was def broke and maybe getting a phone with a non removable battery was a bad idea but than read on here just keep pressing and it will go to bootloader. Catastrophe avoided!
