Living On The Edge - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I live on the very edge of cell phone service. It would be helpful if I could be notified by sound when I have a signal, so if I want to make a call while driving I can pull over and use my phone. Is there a tweak (or app) that would add Phone Signal Connect/Disconnect to the TyTN II?
Thanks.
-Bob-

If your network supports cell broadcast function, you my turn that on in your Kaiser so everytime you get connected to signal or change area location, you probably get that annoying notification

Carty..

You should goto hacing area and request a Mortscript for this. It should be doable, if so thats the place to ask

AM/FM radio

Is there a cab for Kaiser that will install a plain radio on your phone? AM/FM? Lots of Sony comes with one...
better yet is there a cab that will install a projector onto my tilt?
no even better. is there a .cab that will tuen my tilt into a iphone?
I'm looking for a registry tweak that will turn mine into a personal watercraft.
There have been several discussions on this, which you should have seen when you did your search. Even a well respected poster tried, even though he knew there wasn't a fm radio chip it the unit.
you guys are i luck, i just found a cab that will turn your phone into a watercraft with a am/fm radio. here it is readthedamnwiki.cab

Now that is funny!!!

I think this is my favorite thread.
has anyone else noticed that the 3G doesn't work in watercraft mode?
I think I have a solution for that. If you activate your Good Puddle Skipper (GPS) before you activate your Watercraft Mode, then 3G works fine.
Thanks that worked just fine.
The replies are quite funny however the ego is hurt. Been around for a few months but I don't remember seeing a tread asking that. I searched on google and seen nothing so I had to ask.
Closest thing to a radio that I found was Resco Radio which is an interface that helps you connect and manage favorite internet radio feeds. Hope that helps some.
If you care for the details, here are the main two I followed:

Serrious help needed!!!!!!!!
Hey, since you helped with the Watercraftw-AM/FM.cab, I was hoping you'd help me as well! You see I live near Los Angeles & traffic is hell. Do you think you could point me to a cab that would turn my TYTNII into a car pool dummy so I can use the HOV lane?
Or better yet....A cab that would make it into an inflatable doll? That way I get car pool lane & a companion for those lonely nights!
On second thought, nevermind. Sticky buttons & all that.

Actually you are wrong. It does have the ability to do this but HTC did not purchase the driver licence from Cutting Edge Technology giants Qualcast http://www.qualcast.co.uk/rotary/

How to get tomtom to work?

Hi All!
Just purchased a new Tytn II and I am trying to get TOMTOM 6 to work, but so far no luck!
How do I set up the device properly to get a signal?
Also I am unable to find "Quick GPS" anywhere, I have that in my htc advantage but not in Tytn II!
Please help me!

Ok, I have read and tried everything on that thread!
I do get the orange gps ligt to blink every 8 sec or so, but it never recieves any signal.
I am standing next to an open window, and my htc advantage is picking up signal without a problem, but not TYTN II!
Try going outside, you'll get a much stronger signal.
That´s it!

Yep, that did the trick!
After about 20 min of walking I got a signal, and now I get a signal even inside
I figured that might be the problem. I've been using TT for years & whenever I do a fresh install I always have to go outside for a few minutes to get a good sat signal.

GPRS Question

How on earth do you turn it off for good until switched back on. My orange is connecting with gprs and you have to go up to the title bar to turn it off how do i make it so GPRS dose not or will never work until switched on.
Step by step please
Thanks in Advance.
Bump!! Anyone?? Just got billed lots.
Try forcing the phone to use gsm mode only...should be in the network settings.
..and hopefully a registry tweak will show up in the future.
i am not sure what are you asking for.
try this out: http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility/

you are welcome. this utility is quite well-known for the community in this forum. it's proven to be working. for most of us, we have unlimited local GPRS plan. we don't care the GPRS usage report by SPB GPRS, so we seldom install it. Instead, we more perfer the small NoData utility.

Smart Phone Newbie needs guidance

It may be stupid questions for some of the members here but I hope they would understand me Im just starting to use my first smart phone, I have a HTC touch Diamond and it says that It has a A-GPS and GPS does that mean I have an internal GPS hardware? Also my question would I be able to use GPS navigation on my device free? not like other phones that you have to pay the network carrier to have GPS on your device? If so can someone educate me on how to do this thank you.
Hi and welcome!
yes, you have gps hardware in your diamond. you can use for example tomtom 7 (use search to find th .cab file, it's somewhere here on xda-dev.).
so you only pay once for buying a map on www.tomtom.com
so find the .cab, put it on your device and start it from explorer and then buy a map...

thank you for the response, is the GPS network dependent? I asked because alot of my buddies keeps telling me that i have to pay my network "At&T" for the GPS service thank you
no, you don't have to pay anything to your network provider if you use tomtom... the GPS-signal is for free and has nothing to do with the AT&T or other providers network!

HTC Kaiser GPS NOT WORKING MAJOR PROBLEMS!

Hi my name is Mike. I am currently having a problem with my AT&T Tilt (8925)s GPS unit. I see the orange light at the top flashing but the phone is not recieving signal at all. I heard if you use HTC GPS Tool it will tell you if it works. I am using it right now and I am noticing all these messages rolling over the screen when I select COM4 4800:
$GPVTG,,T,,M,M,,K*4E
$GPGSV,1,1,00*79
$GPGGA,,,,,,0,,,,,,,,*66
$GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,,,,N*53
$GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*32
repeated over and over again.
When I click the satellite tab nothing is found.
Also I am not sure if it matters that my keyboard is the old version and it claims to be a 8925 when it looks different in pictures online.
If anyone can help fix this problem I will pay $3 via paypal (IF ALLOWED BY MODS AND ADMINISTRATOR, OTHERWISE FORGET IT)
I found this on a website but I still dont understand why its doing that.
$GPGSV,1,1,00*79 = 0 Satellite Vechicles in view
$GPGGA,,,,,,0,,,,,,,,*66 = No GPS Fix data available
$GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,,,,N*53 = V in field 2 means navigation receiver warning (invalid position)
$GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,*32 ==> Automatic mode (3D/2D) & Fix not available
$GPVTG,,T,,M,,N,,K*4E = NO GPS data available
EDIT: I tried the GPS on Android 2.1 on the phone and still no connection at all.
I dont understand this.
Please help me!
Thanks,
Mike
I take it you have tried a soft and hard reset?
Are you outside when it is looking for Satellites? It can also take some time to get an initial lock on. Perhaps if you switch off the auto-off/powersaving part of the phone and go outside, set it on a wall and wait...and wait....and wait... and hopefully it will get a lock.
Good luck I recall years ago with a Garmin GPS that was Serial and not Parallel receiver it would take aaaaaaaages to get a lock on ie, up to 45 minutes! Usually after it was OK but even so!
Is this a factory rom?
Not Sure of your location... However when I experienced problems in the STATES it was usually the Radio I need to change... Plus having [QuickGPS] installed to help moved the GPS initialization along [Finding a satellite lock] For me about 2-5 Min on average, depending on location. Also not sure what you use for Navigation but I use TomTom and it's been problem free....
Good luck

Good advice.
Got one questions for you guys, are you using additional antennas or is there's a build-in one? My kaiser really sucks about gps, it hardly ever locks gps even outdoors. But got a solution: Get a cooper wire which fits into GPS antenna socket, cut about 5-5.5cm of it and stick it into the socket you can bend it so it won't disturb. Maybe you can stick it under the rear cover so it won't be visible.
With this short cooper wire i've got a steady gps lock even indoors.
Sorry for my bad english

Oh sorry
I have, finally, succeed in fixing my GPS issue
I have taken a short wire do a loop with it and plug it into the GPS external port.
I have sticked my cheap installation into the mobile back !
Please find enclosed two pics representing my installation... with a brief scheme!
Hope it helps.
Kind regards from France,
Nino
