I've really begun to use Hamachi in so many different ways. Routing realvnc/ftp/voip/etc through hamachi. I make sure that only the 5.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ip block can connect and with hamachi for windows mobile and vnc/ftp/total commander/etc. I can access all my machines on the network securely. If anyone is curious on how to do this let me know.
It is nice using my home network as a proxy to access the web securely at work. It's way faster than tor, secure and no one at work can monitor my activities.
Hamachi with magicJack
Hi Klepto,
I have a magicjack. Is it possible to use hamachi free edition to tunnel VoIP? My ISP is blocking the VoIP ... I have a computer in US that I can tunnel to .. I am in Karachi.
Sincerely,
Tariq
I tried once to use hamachi on my kaiser winmo. But after installing it, I could find the way to browse through network. I tried to type the IP adress directly in the File exporer or total commander. I guess I'm missing something about the use of it despite I get it right on different PCs. And there's no faqs or docs on their website.
So while I didn't get a simple file access, you get a proxy use of your machine '-_-
How to configure it
Hi,
How is it possible to use Hamachi for Windows Mobile to connect to a hamachi gateway, I got the client, but it has been removed from their website? I got version 0.0.3.1, is it the same version you use
Thanks a lot.
Pretty P.Oed that LogmeIn just pulled the client w.o. warning. I contacted their online chat, which was useless - just told me that LMI no longer supports the Windows Mobile platform.
I updated the rom on my phone and now do not have access to my gateway.
PPCgeeks has a thread with an attachment of what is said to be Hamachi 2.0 for Win Mo. It's attached to this post. Link is here too (requires registration).
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/windows-mobile-software/109508-logmein-hamachi-mobile-beta.html
I emailed LMI as well. I don't have the gall to try install this - but am running out of options, so will probably do it.
What alternatives do I have ? Are there any good (Free) VPNs that work with WinMO that are relatively easy to configure.
URG!!

Hi
Just purchased a Kaiser and loving it!
I am new to windows mobile and trying to SSH into one of my work servers.
I have purchased PocketTY and copied my SSH2 key on to my device. I have setup a VPN in the connections settings.
How on earth do I make PocketTY connect via 3G and dial my VPN to access the server? I cannot find any docs this at all. Do I need a VPN client and if so which one should I get.
Thanks
bump
Does no one really know how to do this?
Thanks
Try PocketPutty, works a treat for me and it's free........
I think that it depends on what type of vpn you're using. Me for example I use Open VPN and therefore I had to use openvpn client on my kaiser (and I'm very happy that there is one). I also think that in your case is the vpn that isn't working properly yet. Let me know what vpn link do you have and I'll try to help you
Hi there,
i have installed Finster869's WM6_RemoteDesktop.cab, which is available somewhere in the forum here.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set some advanced options, which are normally shown in the regular remote desktop application for Windows Desktop OS's?
- Display: Remote Desktop Size
- Experience (Desktop background, Menu animation, themes)
Thanks
Chris
I'm curious how to set these too. 640x480 seems to get forced when I connect, making Outlook unusable.
Yeah, me too. There's a file default.rdp where you can amend the value of the resolution but somehow it doesnt take effect.
I end up using VNC Viewer though.
Hi, if there's just another Remote Desktop Client allowing to fit my needs - I'd use it.
What are the best Clients (also commercial)? Where can I get that VNC Viewer?

Got another question though - Is it possible to connect to a WM2003 server console through Finster869's RDP client?
Logmein
Another option is logmein free. They have a plugin for WM that works on the Kaiser I have from ATT. Allows me to set resloution, screen size, etc, and it's free.
im too looking for a way to get remote desktop mobile to set a custom resolution
because in small resolution on wm6 rdm it just hard for me to navigate stuff.
can someone find a hack for this please.. dear hackers out there thanks.
Need a little help here....i've 4 computers in the house and it's all running VNC Server Enterprise Edition 4.2.2. I've downloaded VNC Viewer from the link above and run it on my Kaiser but when try to connect, it says "Unable to connect to the specified server!". I'm not sure what to set as i'm just bad with these network stuff.
Assuming i want to connect to my computer A name "Desktop". I would assume i just input the name Desktop to "Server" in the program and put in the password right? Or am i just so lost
Hope somebody can kindly guide me on this. Appreciate it.
Anybody? Would love to get it working in my TyTN II & i have up to 4 computers to remote into
Are you trying to get into them from the Internet or are you on your WiFi network?
If you are on your WiFi you will need to know the IP address of the machine you are connecting to unless you have DNS setup internally. Not sure if WM6 by default will detect Windows names.
If you are coming from the Internet then you will need to port forward your to each of your machines.
Guys, as usual, Wiki is your best friend. Do search it before asking - I've answered almost all the questions asked in this thread in the Remote Desktop Access Bible at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Access your desktop PC from your Pocket PC!
To make it short, in the Comparison Chart ( http://www.winmobiletech.com/122006PPCPCRemoteControl/PPC2PCRemoteRoundupTable.htm ), it's the "Resolution, zoom, color" group that you must check out; most importantly, the first ("Remote desktop resolution?") and the fifth ("Remote desktop resolution settable?") row. The latter even shows how you can actively change the resolution from the client.

Well....i would want to get connected via Home WiFi first. All the 4 computers are connected to the same router. I've tried putting in the computer IP address (ie: 192.168.1.101::5900) but it still says not able to connect. the ::5900 seem to be added in on it's own.

1, welcome to XDA-Devs
2, you mean is the address, your name / password saved? All of them, as is also explained in the chart of the Bible (did you check it out?????), in the "Login: l/p credentials definable, used (with RDP clients) and remembered? – an advantage particularly with RDP-based clients" and the "Server IP’s remembered?".
Please DO spend some time reading these Bibles / charts before asking questions!
no, sorry for the bad english. I mean, what about the security of the connection. Via PC i use a ipsec connection. When I use a normal connection it is possible to trace my login data and to get access to my server for other people.

RDP is a safe protocol - no cleartext passwords are communicated. BTW, you can also run RDP over a VPN connection to maximize safety.

hi, i want to ask, is there any program for my ppc, that can work as an webserver? where i can add my own sites, and it will accept internet connection, when i route ports to it? i know it will not be fast, but i want it for webs where can be max 5 people online, ... so are there any apps like webservers? thx..
There are (just use google) but due to most phone networks being behind NAT, your portable web server wont be reachable from the public internet.
Surur
Even when I have public ip??when I have public ip and will forward ports to my device,it should work, shouldn't it? but im little worring about trojan and wiruses... it is still computer on web without firewall... so what do you thing?
Besides the web server you wish to use, WM devices do not have any native services/ open ports, so it should be quite safe on the wild internet, not to mention there are no viruses in the wild for Windows Mobile in any case.

When connected to WiFi network, it should work in the LAN enviroment.
But IS there a WM webserver?

ok,
this is gonna be a little description and a question at once.
i've tried to get a cisco vpn client to run on the diamond. at first, i tried athenaVPN, which works really good, but it installs automatically a firewall-app next to the vpn client. this FW is started automatically at windows startup, no chance to get this off. after that, i tried to use bluefire vpn. it took a lot of time to get this running, but now it works, but it slows down the whole system. i don't appriciate this. so the question is...is there another simple cisco-vpn client out i've not seen before, because the other two applications have too many disadvantages. thanks a lot,
earp
I also would be interested in any cisco vpn solution, that works...
Did you guys ever find anything?
OpenVPN
If it interests anyone, I've used OpenVPN for a while, and it works great, at least on my KS20.
It's open source and it's not so difficult to install and configure, but admittedly it doesn't work with a Cisco VPN. As SFR in France blocks all ports but 80 and 8080, it allowed me to use MSN and other communication applications (too much lag for Skype) and access my shared files...
You can get it here
I've been looking into this too - we use Cisco AnyConnect VPN at work and it'd be nice to see whether it's available on the HTC.
I'd also be so happy if one of us can find a problemless vpn client. I hate logging in as a guest user everytime to my network.
I have tried Bluefire VPN with success. I had only .pcf file and here is not VPN client on PDA to use with. If you use group password, you have to ask your admin about cleartext password and then you can use VPN for example to your Cisco 3000 VPN concentrator.
You may want to take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356489
i can't seem to figure out how to allow my n1 to wirelessly access my computer's files through my wireless router, using w7 64bit. i left my usb cable at home, and bluetooth would work through ubuntu, but i can't get w7 to pair at all, even using bluetooth file transfer apk. ideally, i don't want to use that anyway, because bt is slow as mud, comparatively speaking.
re: wifi
i've enabled file sharing on the home network. searching for devices doesn't give up the nexus at all. i have no idea how to add it :/
re: bt
i've enabled and started all bluetooth services. it can't even pair with my phone, for some reason. both are discoverable, both see each other, but won't pair. :/
i wish that there was a stickied thread about this. doing forum search with titles only doesn't pan out anything. doing google search only leads to non-helpful sites for the first 50 or so.
this seems like it should just be basic stuff. tell my computer to look, tell my phone to look, they see and go. but, neither wants to, they're both being stingy little stuck up bastards, lol
any help would be appreciated.
Sorry to say, but you're all wrong about it being a piece of cake.
Don't know about bluetooth, but sharing files over networks is far from easy. When did you last try it between different OS?
Let's start with this: Android is Linux (more or less), and it doesn't share files with Windows networks without extra SW. Windows find network computers using NETBIOS and shares using Samba. Linux uses mostly FTP.
So:
To access Windows shares from phone , you need Samba client. Use ES Explorer, for example.
To access phone from Windows, use FTP server. SwiFTP, for example.
To use Windows sharing on Android, wait until Jimmychingala updates his Samba server to work on Nexus, I'm testing it. NetBIOS works already, shares not quite yet.

you rock, sir. i will investigate. thank you very much
I'll throw in some more info:
There is no default Bluetooth file transfer support AFAIK. But there are 3rd party apps to do it, for example Bluetooth file transfer, or the aforementioned ES Explorer.
I would try dropbox for android. Its free and simple to use. 123 you're sharing files between multiple computers and your phone

yeah, i tried bluetooth file transfer. works fine in ubuntu, i can't even pair in w7. which is weird, because i had the exact opposite problem a few months ago when i was running stock ROM. i could sync to w7, without using the app even, but not to ubuntu.
dunno. i just hate having to drag that stupid cable back and forth from work.
and, dropbox is a good idea, but i don't want all of my business in the cloud. i have enough of it up there, lol
install filezilla server (or whatever you prefer) on win7 and connect via andFTP.
Make sure you configure the win7 firewall to accept incoming ftp connections.
If you find that hard use zonealarm free firewall instead of the default.
