X to closes application - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi,
Pressing the X sign doesn't stop a program from running, it remains in memory.
I remember I read about a way to realy close an application upon clicking the X, but can't rememeber were...
Any help is welcome
Thanks

quick menu.. click on the 'x' of the programs listed or open your task manager in settings -> system

Hbutton is also fine for me. there's a thread in the dev-forums about. you can also assign the ok button to close apps...

Closing programs vs. minimizing

Tried searching for this but I can't figure out what to search for to get the results I want. Is there a way to alter your settings so that clicking the X in the upper right corner of a program closes it instead of minimizing it? Going through the Task Manager every time is a huge pain. I think there may be an option under the X menu on the home screen, but the ROM I'm using removed that X, so...help? I'm positive this has been asked before but I can't seem to find it anywhere (especially since "x" gets filtered out of searches).
Take a look at the HTC Task Manager, it has that option
Tap and hold down should close the app. I find this sometimes isn't reliable though - especially with WM Mediaplayer and on some occasions it only minimises the app. On other situations holding down the 'x' wont do anything and it has to be released in order to minimise the app. This is with the stock HTC WM 6.1 ROM listed in my sig.
Yep, that worked I think the ROM I downloaded didn't have HTC TM, so installing that let me do exactly what I wanted.
Use wktask, best "x" program
I prefer Quickmenu to wktask. It is one of my favourite apps and it gives you a Windows desktop type cascading menu, allows you to switch bluetooth etc etc etc lots of features and it's free.

Looking from a close program button to assign to key

im looking if anyone knows of just a small program i can install that acts like the "Close" function of Spb Pocket Plus. i want to be able to hold the ptt button to close the running program...
i've searched and had no luck
If your running a custom rom or anything apart from the ATT rom you can do this without additional software. Just go to "Settings" and "Buttons".
im running att 6.1
i just dont want to have to install pocket plus for one stupid function that it gives me
Quick Menu does this as well
Quick Menu does this as well... i personally like the program a lot cos of its various functions.. one of them is that you can get the OK key to close programs... and it has a small memory footprint... above all, its free... check it out at www.alensw.com ... hope this helps
so i tried quick menu... didnt really like that...
any suggestions?
you know how spb mobile shell has the ability to made a soft reset a program icon? i want that for close program. just to be able to assign it to a hard key...

I use AE Buttons Plus and it's small and works great. I have the "close active program" assigned to a long press of the OK button. It even has a task manager you can bring up with a hardware button and kill programs just by using the d-pad.
You can find it here: http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php.

But can you close the active program? There is no "close active program" program in WM to assign a button to. Unless this has that feature built into it (as AE Button Plus does), I know of no way to do it just by pressing a hardware button, which is what the OP requested. Also, you can use AE Button Plus as unregistered for an unlimited time, but it is so cheap, that I decided to buy it.
hbutton - taskmanager
I'm using HTC Taskmanager with 'end programs by tapping X' - with 'OK/Close' Button mapped to my Hardware-OK-Button in Hbutton it works perfect for me....

Lost my X-Button

Hi, I'm not sure if that is what it's called, but the button in the upper right of the screen that lets you look at all of your current running programs and lets you close some or all is now gone.
I was trying to get SPB Pocket Plus to work and it was having some strange behavior (one is losing the X-Button). I have removed the software, but I still have no X-Button. If anyone can help me to restore this, it would be much appreciated. I haven't been able to find anything through search regarding this.
Thank you!
look for htc task manager and try to reinstall it.
settings, system, task manager, button tab, enable quick menu on today screen
That was it sjm...thank you very much. I wonder what disabled that?

[Q]3Q's: GSen; close apps; compose SMS

Hi folks,
I have gathered a few questions you might be able to help me with.
Using: O2 XDA Diamond, Olinex 2.4 unsigned, Radio 1.09.25.23, Panosha Simple 1.1, the usual tweaks
1)
GSen. It might be useful to some, but I just don't need this flipping anytime I move the device. I renamed the gsen.exe to prevent it from being loaded on startup. This works, but I get a nasty error message, of course. That doesn't bother me, but I'd still like to know if there's a more elegant solution to this, like a registry entry disabling GSen altogether.
2)
Is there a way to make pressing the little "cross" button (top right corner in most apps) close applications instead of minimizing it? To finally kill a program I have to use the task manager. Any idea how to add a little more power to this button?
3)
About composing messages: Entering a name in a new message used to make the corresponding contact entries popup in formerly used ROMs. That's no more. I now have to open the adress book, choose a contact and select "Send Text Message". How can I get the lost feature back?
Regards,
ziphi
Not sure about 1 & 3, but for 2 unless it's been altered in the ROM your using, goto Start>Settings>System>Task Manager>Button, you can change the action the small cross does.
Thanks,
but this seems to have been changed in Panoshas ROM, there's no "task manager" option in the settings.
Anyone else got an idea?
Managed to solve problem No. 1)
Deleted shortcut file for GSen in /windows/startup/
Problem No. 3 is what disturbs me the most, now. Any ideas?

Planning on Developing applications for windows mobile (not wp7)

Hi
I decided i will try and develop some applications, to give something back to the community for all the help they have given me over the past year.
So any suggestions for apps?
battery time remaining
isn't there an app for that already?
something like a .cab to do this?
something that we can install that when we hit "ok" or "x" it will exit any app or process thats running.
so we dont have to stop things with a task manager that we thought we had stopped but they are still running in the back ground.
i know the option is in some task managers but something small just for this problem will save having to have two task manaers installed the default one and the other one to get the "ok" or "x" to close option.

Hey thanks for that, it will save me going to the task manager.
I downloaded visual studio 2010 but it doesn't include wm, so i am downloading vs 2005 instead.
virtual d-pad for playing game
Its a good idea but you rould be able to press 2 buttons on screen at once. No multitouch.
how about copy and paste ?
how about having copy and paste work in everything instead of just the apps that support it?
so when ever you come across any text input or menu u can hold the stylus down 4 a few seconds and get a copy, cut, paste, delete etc.
just like the inbuilt windows menu.
very handy for cross app text input!
