Hi, i've been looking for a nice music player for a vga screen (because i'm not that happy with the htc touchflo3d music player), but i can't seem to find a nice looking, good working music player.
I was thinking, i could make a nice design (i'm a webdesigner/designer) for a cool music player. But i'm not so good with programming. Maybe we can turn this into a project to make a nice diamond music player?
In short, i'm looking for one or more ppl who can develop software for the HTC Touch Diamond and are willing to develop a nice music player with me.
I like the old Audio Manager than the new one built into Touch Flo 3D
I made a design of what i think it should kinda look like. It's a concept and not 100% finished, but i would like to hear feedback

Nice!
A few suggestions:
Something better (maybe a bigger dot) to grab the bar if you would like to drag it back a bit in a song.
Something bigger for volume - to hard to press the right button in your mockup.
Better use of album art - maybe it could be the background wallpaper.
Info on next song.
Sorry, but I cant help since I havnt any programming skills. Maybe easiser to find someone in the developer section?!

yes, well maybe we can use the hardware buttons to manage the music volume.
album art.. as wallpaper it would be stretched and pixelled i'm afraid
Have you tried PocketMusic?
WOrks on VGA.. and it's pretty good looking, methinks.
I too like the standard old HTC Audio Manager player.
There are some cabs floating about which I've used to put it on older devices such as the Jamin and Orbit 1 and 2.
Does anyone know if the cab will work on the TD?
I suspect the resolution will be Ok but am concerned that the DLL files etc may clash with those of the new player.
PocketPlayer and MortPlayer are Ok but a bit fiddly.
I'm concerned because all of the vids I've seen make the new player look very simple but also very limited! Does anyone know if you can list ALL songs for an Artist (ie you have more than one album by say the Clash and want to select from a list of all Clash songs) with the new player on the TD?
Or can anyone try the existing AduioManager cab on the TD?
Many thanks.
I tried all sorts of audiomanager cab and zip files floating around here. The best i got is the audio manager on 1/4th of the screen working kinda. got a error in the title bar though. all other vga versions didn't seem to work..

Look for claunch it's the first adress regarding freeware and able to customize.
Or O2 Plus tools. It's free, too. ;-)
thanks! thats very close to what im looking for, is there a way to make it run today plug-ins inside the tabs, that was the main feature i was looking for from spb shell.
hmm as far as I know there is no free Plugin with Tabs which can contain plugins itself.
But if anyone knows one, I'm interested myself. ;-)
it doesnt really need to be free, but spending 30 dollers on a full featured plugin when i am only interested in one of the features is like buying a brand new 2008 mustang just to take the door off it and put the door on the mustang i already had, but it is only 30 bucks...
Pocket Breeze ;-)
It's my favorite plugin, although it costed something. But it's worth every buck. ;-)
is that what the following today screen is using? how do I get an image to cover the entire screen like the following today screen.

pics above may be WA2 + WAD, bottombar is just made by user. real one may be turned off(but still accessible by i.e. wm5newmenu,,)
my "old" ones(so OLD, that my machine had even 48 mb PROGRAM mem free)(wm03 and icbar(wm03 wa2 like program) madness)..

get 240x320 px picture,
cut first 26 px from top, save,
cut 26 px from bottom,save,
save what is left,
use WA2 to set these 26 px cuts onto bars(i dont really know if WA2 can set bottom one, if not, WAD is needed to recreate "real" bar while real one is turned off..i never used WA2..eh).
here's landscape problem i assume - do not know if WA2 can set different bars texture..for portrait/landscape,
make theme to match both P/L orientations, set it - with WAD+WA just set what you get after cut top and bottom(268x240 px or so...eh) as wallpaper, same for landscape.
i am not sure, that it is correct english...kill me if i am babbling..
i downloaded WAD. its amazing! now i see how everyone has been doing thier skins
Hi folks
I'm having a problem with HTC's Audio Manager. When starting it up I get a corrupted display (see attachment).
The 'Player' menu item is also not displaying anything, so I take it the application has crashed
Has anyone else experienced this or better yet know a solution?
Thanks in advance

Yep. The same thing happend to me to when I activated the Music tab on Today screen and maximized the Audio Manager from running task list. When I switched from portrait to landscape it cleared up. Reboot didn't make a difference. I ended up deactivating the "Music" tab.
When I just start Audio Manager from "Programs" it's not messed up.
Thanks! Switching display modes does fix the display
Hopefully this will be fixed in a later version of HTC Audio Manager
Don't open audio manager through the tab and then maximize it through another program like wktask. what you have to do is click the tab again to actually open the program. that fixed it for me. I would get problems when i didn't do it that way.
I think I found a way around it ever corrupting. I had the same problem but this last time I installed the app (I've been flashing ROMs... a lot! ), the first thing I did was open audio mgr through the Programs icon, created a Playlist and played some music.
I then closed it and went to the Today music "tab" and when I click it once, it automatically loads the list and displays the first song in the little window; if I click again (with a song name displayed) it pops open the full Audio Mgr app without any corruption.
Just my two cents, hope this works for you.

Sounds completely unlogical... so reasonable enough for an MS product
Next time I flash, I'm definetly gonna try it out.
Install the seperate today plugin
Try installing the seperate today plugin. You don't need it enabled but I think installing it will help with the problem.
Cheers,

for playing music there are two standard options.
the tf3d player and the wmp10. both have problems.
the tf3d player cannot adjust the volume. so you will always have to adjust the total volume.
and both do not have a good library.
i would like a library that shows all the music with artist name and title, and offers you an easy way of playback. with keys you can use with your fingers.
this is an example.

unfortunately pocket player crashes after using it for 1 minute. I do not know why.
so does anyone have a solution, or maybe another player that gives you the same functionality and works.
hi,
if you want to have a very good (maybe the best) mp3 player, you have tu use S2P! and thank A_C for his good job!
cu
I still like and use the original classic HTC AudioManager which runs on the Diamond quite happily alongside the new one.
Very easy to use with fingers and very clear library lists.
Other than that I use Pocket Player and, although slow to start, it has never crashed on either standard or Bepe's rom.
Audiomanager in VGA (bad screenshot - looks much better on Diamond screen!):
It's amazing how you can buy a top end mobile phone with TWO MP3 PLAYERS built in and yet you still have to download third party software to get the job done properly!
It seems that HTC spent so much time pretending to be the iPhone that they forgot to add functionality to such an important feature!
Anyway, I'm off searching for the vga HTC Audio Manager!
as i said, the pocket player crashes on my stock nld rom.
the htc audio manager gives a lot of problems as far as i read in the forum.
the s2p (free by the way) does a nice job.
the volume slider is a bit insensitive, but you can use the up down on the dpad. choosing a number with your finger sometimes makes you choose a number that you did not want, but that is practice
Now everything is about Diamond. Isn't it boring?
Here is my new SPHERE interface!

Features:
- Edited graphic files of the HTC Home Plugin (no other software needed)
- Portrait and landscape mode
Installation:
1. Download zip file and unzip
2. Take a backup of your png files in case you want to set them back later (copy them from your /Windows folder to somewhere else).
3. Deactivate HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
4. Copy all files from empex_SPHERE folder to your device's /Windows folder
5. Active HTC Home (Settings/Today/Items)
6. Apply empex_sphere theme file (Settings/Today/Appearance)
!!! A CAB file is available now. Many thanks to Dr Puttingham!!!
And you're done!
Cheers
Empex
Please donate my work if you like it. Thank you very much!
Must agree, the Diamond thing has gone into massive overkill mode. It's good to see other ideas coming to the fore.
Sphere looks good. Are you planning to make it available in other colour schemes or skinable?
WB
I'm not using the HTC Home Plugin, but I find the design and concept 5 stars
Good work
Will you please post a screen shot image
any photos or examples maybe?..
Interesting idea!
BTW, I made you a cab with your files. I take no credit nor do I accept any blame
As an aside, make sure you have a backup of your png files as uninstalling this will not restore them, you have been warned!
Ooohh this is nice! been looking for a new look for my HTC home. will give it a shot empex.
There's an screenshot there.... may be you're having problems with imageshack.us...
Great work empex!! Although I think you should make sphere's a little bit darker... seem's there's little contrast with the main icons...
Screenshot man screenshot.. This sounds cool
VERY NICE!
If I could make one suggestion...
Could you make the images inside the sphere icons color? They are a little hard to make out but the design and concept is very cool!
HHC shin?
Instead of copy and paste into \windows why not create a set of skins for the HTC Home Customizer (emunutz http://www.pocketemu.com/news.html) Also there isn't a screen shot. Try attaching the screen shot as an attachment.
HTC Home tab and notification icons got a bit hard to 'read' but overall it's nice.
Screenshots...
Here are some screenshots to use
Awesome theme as always empex, keep up the great work
Superb use of the sphere, and with varying sizes. Very 3D-ish...!!
Excellent piece of theme.
Great Work Thank You
Been working on a Ghost Rider Theme this fits just perfect Thank You.
Awesome
If there was a screen shot to wet my task buds with. I would be happy to try it out.
That gives me an idea If and when the 3D drivers are fully functional, someone could write a today plugin with spheres lined up in a circle which you can rotate by sliding and every sphere stands for a tab or whatever and makes the icons available. I bet this could be done in 2D as well, but probably as slow as ThottleLauncher (no offense).
*cheers*
Thank (insrt your deity of choice here) that someone has decided to go against the Diamond theme. Personally, I don't find the Diamond theme all that appealing, and between all the requests and builds for Diamond-like and iPhone-like things, I wanna vomit sometimes.
Nice look empex, even though, as someone else mentioned, the spheres are on the smaller side (not a big deal at all).
High Mutha F'n 5!
Im So Sick Of The Diamond Obsessions!
Awesome! Thanks!
I searched for a while but couldn't find many VGA skins for Pocket Player, especially for fat fingers, so I made this one to suit my needs. This is a new skin I'm using mostly for the car. The idea is to maximize screen space with visuals and info, and use the hardware buttons of the FUZE to handle the controls. Just thought I shared...
NOTE:
The skin is named default_vgals.psz so it will overwrite your default installed landscape skin. This way it is automatically selected when tilting the phone. If you don't like that, just change the name ;-).
[EDIT 1/8/11]
1. Added a new version with some tweaks and the MENU BAR at the bottom, which seems more useful than the slider.
2. Also added a small Mortscript that enables selecting between separate PocketPlayer libraries. The idea is to split up large music libraries into different folders and let PP compile individual databases (metadatadb) in each folder. This greatly improves the performance of the application when browsing for music. For example, in my case, PP would struggle with my 3500+ song single library, taking on average 10 - 20 secs between each operation. After dividing the music into 4 separate folders (~1000 songs each), response is almost instant. You need to change the name of the folders in the script to match the actual folders you create, or it won't work. Then make sure you run the library scan on each folder. You get the idea...Try it...but remember to always backup, etc...

So the skin is only for the music program Pocket Player, which uses skins of the format *.psz (just a zip file renamed). The file just need to be copied to the pocket player installation folder, and then selected from the options menu. Also, this particular skin is only for VGA devices (640x480), but I don't know if Pocket Player will try to render it in your device (800x480). That said, let me see if I find some time to make a WVGA version this weekend...no promises...
