Custom Caller ID's - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Are there any good custom caller ID's out there? I'm looking for something similar to the iPhone w/ a nice BIG picture w/ answer and ignore. The default WM doesn't do it for me. I've searched the forums and can't find a thing, thanks in advance.

you can use S2U2. it is iphone like app that is used for locking device screen and it has built in caller id function. you can even change the phone number format. just look in S2U2 settings and you will find what you are looking for.
there are also some threads about this application so you can find all info in there

Thanks, I've tried S2U, didn't really care for sliding everytime i'd unsleep the phone. I've got big fingers, and it sucks when i'm driving having to slide a bar, i'm looking for a standalone caller ID app.

You can enable D-Pad and slide to unlock using the D-Pad.

In the new version you can use the green button to answer...
Next time follow the link on my sign....

You can also disable the sleep feature, and just use the Caller ID like I do.

id also like to enlarge the picture on the caller id ..... any other options?

You guys should look at PhotoContacts Pro.

There's got to be a free/better looking caller ID replacement out there somewhere, I'm going to try the S2U2 again and disable the sleep function as suggested...I'd still really like to see a GOOD replacement for the WM caller ID. Thanks for the ideas though.

you can enlarge picture to almost full screen

A few things to note:
If you've set your contact pictures using the default WM contacts program, your pictures have been resized to the size you see on your caller ID right now. Using a full screen caller ID with these low resolution pictures will look like crap. You CAN, however, use a third party contact manager to set a high resolution contact photo, but from what I understand, Outlook doesn't like that and refuses to sync the contact picture when you do so.

if you use s2u2 1.05 and also s2v and assign you contact pics thru s2v the caller id pics will take up pretty much most of the screen with good sized answer and ignore buttons its pretty much the best option out there and easiest to use i think try it if its not what you are looking for you can alway remove it

i gave in and installed s2u2, although im not using s2v i can still assign photos via outlook. some photos get distorted when they are blown up... i prolly just have to use a better quality photo

Nope, that's Outlook resizing your picture. You have to use S2V if you want pictures to look good when blown up. The only problem with this is that I think pictures won't sync up properly with Outlook if you use that feature.

upgrade to 1.42 ROM.what is caller id application?

Just upgraded to 1.42 ROM and when I hard reset the device it asks if I want to install caller id application. I am not sure what this is or does and what I should reply. Can anyone give me any advice?? Thanks John
Caller ID app allows u to assign different ringtones/music and photos to different callers - ie to personalize it. Just like on regular cellphones.
However the app that comes with phone is crap. Doesn't work half the time.
Download Photo Contacts Pro by pocketx. DOnt bother with any other caller id apps - i tried them all.
The latest version of PCP is decent, tho not perfect IMO. But at least it works like it's supposed to!
Thank you Starik and also for the recommendations..This means I can decline this app when it say do you want to install? Thanks again..jd76

Large Picture-ID

One thing that annoys me to no end is that you can put a picture in each contact but when they call it's just this tiny little pic on the screen.
Does anybody know of a program out there that will show a full screen (or close to it) picture of the person calling in? This has always annoyed me!
I remember someone with an iphone 'skin', which I believe brought up the full picture while you were RECEIVING a call. I can't remember if it also worked when placing a call.

Thank you much!
I've always wished that there was a caller ID program that did not come with all the bloat of Photo Contacts Pro. Seems like no one has ever bothered to make a simple program like that though.

Try Inesoft Address Book, very good with skinning support for the caller ID. www.inesoft.com
why cant there be just a simple program for photo caller ID? ive tried all the other programs and dont need the address book and everything else. Its a part of all these other programs, someone must know how to do this. thanks...
S2U2 v0.72 supports full screen photo caller ID. Search the forum and u'll get it free. Need to edit registry key though for caller ID to work. Just read the first post of the thread.
The iphone skin reffered to is the program Slide 2 Unlock. This is available via this forum. Within the post there are details of a registry setting which gives you two different options for setting caller ID pictures. One is a small pic and the other is full screen. Works well !

I installed S2U2 v0.86 last night and it appears at this early stage to do the large incoming caller photo very well. I also use PocketCM both for browsing contacts and to assign the caller photo. Both apps are from here at XDA-Developers and have excelent support. They are both skinnable.

Dialler Skins - what are you using?

I've spent a couple of hours looking for dialler skins for my kaiser (o2 Stellar branded) and not had a lot of luck finding anything that works with smart dialling, video, landscape and that has no major issues. Can anyone recommend anything that could replace the dialler on my stock ROM without having to flash a cooked ROM?
I have tried searching for such skins, and had no luck. I apologise if I have managed to miss something, and would be grateful for a link to any thread dealing with this query.
Haven't tried it yet
Found this today when I was thinking the same thing. http://www.hkscorpio.com/members/bong/product_Dialpad_Maker.htm
Also, I was thinking of doing it myself. I found the windows dialer images in the windows directory. Haven't got around to changing them myself.
I think they are:
Number buttons (replace # with numbers 0 through 9)
[*]NmBtn#dn_Land.png - Landscape pressed button
[*]NmBtn#dn_Port.png - Portrait pressed button
[*]NmBtn#up_Land.png - Landscape unpressed button
[*]NmBtn#up_Port.png - Portrait unpressed button
Backgrounds
[*]Dialer_BkgL.png - Landscape background
[*]Dialer_BkgP.png - Portrait background
There are more PNGs that make up the rest of the buttons but haven't located those yet.
hmm im just using the normal one for wm6.0 instead of the htc one
Thanks sahoopes, but I could not get anything from the "download" link on that page. I'll have to have a go at messing about with the images you found when I have time to teach myself how.

Quick contacts in TF3D is pure rubbish...

There is nothing "quick" about it, and the whole point of quick contacts is being able to find a few people very quickly.
With SPB Mobile shell, all you have to do is 2 clicks and you're at your contact (one click for quick contacts, and another click to enter your person).
With TF3D, You have to do one click in order to get into quick contacts, and then painstakingly slide your finger on the small slider, until you hopefully reach your desired contact at some point. This is so fricking dumb. It should be the definition of form over function. It's almost unbelievable that HTC used this total disaster to serve as the most recognized picture of the touch diamond (smiling Grace Fuller).
Is there any way to replace this horrendous quick contacts tab with something more efficient (ala SPB MSII) ?
you can also move quickly through your contacts on the right side of that screen, goes pretty fast.
Hi after a sync my quick contacts is missing and i cant put it again? I only can put the new contacts and the old whose missing i cant put it again?
Have any of the tweakers put some thought into expanding the maximum number of quick contacts?

I *was* talking about using the right slider of that screen. The thought of having to look at the faces of my contacts, one at a time, in order to reach the desired one, never even crossed my mind.

If you are willing to sacrifice just *a little bit* more function, you can simply put your contacts at the "Photos and Videos" tab, then you can browse through an unlimited amount of your friends faces.

Sorry, misunderstood you then. Maybe assign one of the softbuttons to 'contacts'? I have PI8 assigned to where "phone" was I believe.
Anyhow, I agree that it's more visual than functional. For calling one of my contacts i still prefer the old way of pressing phone button (hard button) and type first letter of my contact.

I agree too. I think it's just the choice of form over function. I must say that HTC home older versions were better functionally . Just 2 clicks dialing as well. I am also not using them anymore. It's better to use the quickdial feature on the phone instead

You can start a new sms and when typing in the To field the first letters of the contact it shows.
i totally agree.
i would love to have contacts, messages and emails to be shown in an ordered list-style like the recently discovered call history. touchflo3d itself is really nice with this sliding-thing but these three tabs are indeed more visual than functional. hope someday someone will discover how to add third-party plugins...a vga-version of icontact integrated would be awesome.
re
Well, partly agree with this thread, I agree totally that it isnt the fastest way (for exemple HTC home contacts on my tytn were much quicker)...
But then comes the issue, Is it really QUICK contacts or is it favorite contacts, I have to admit i pretty much like the interface, and navigating on the right side goes quite well...
So no, it isnt the quickest way, but much faster than the standard program, and besides that with a very nice interface..

But it looks darnnn nice, specially if you assign cool avatars to your contacts!
hey if u want to quickly call a contact, why go to touchflo3d at all...the fastest, and i mean really fast...method is to press the call button on the phone, and use the T9 dialer to bring up the contact (provided u know the name of the person ur dialing )
this works pretty fast...coming from an HTC touch (elfin), where the dialer lagged a lot, this one is blazing fast!! try it out
and yeah...that quick contacts thingie is purely for cosmetic purposes...useful only for showing off to your friends!
using the dialpad is the only way to use the 'phone'
The thing I hate about 'quick contacts' is how it displays the full name from my contact, instead of using the 'display as' field to get the name.
Oh well, more disappointment from my most disappointing phone ever.

I've the softbuttons mapped to Contacts (left) and Camera (right), so getting to the contacts list is a single click, and then scroll or press the letter on the right column. I think is quite fast.
Quick Contacts is purely for quick access to your 'favourite' contacts, and it serves that function well for me: it is not laggy and provides a quick means of me contacting my top ten or so contacts with my fat thumb to hand. I see no problem with it. with a tap on the contact you can Email, SMS or call them. It's pretty sweet in my estimates.
As for the Diamond being disappointing = each to their own I suppose, but for me it's the best phone I've ever owned lacking only a decent camera and (less importantly) an expansion slot. It also scuffs too easily, but aside from that it does me proud every day and I love the weather and contacts tabs especially.
And quick contacts are not only for calling, but also for choosing which number to call, to geolocalize them, write mail, etc.
But I agree to the fact that when you scroll on the right, HTC should have skipp the transition between pictures... It's way to slow for quick-supposed contact browsing. I figured a way to make things better, just wait until somebody finds out how to program TF3D tabs-plugins.

Dial Screen Choices?

Would someone be so kind as to point me to where I might find some Dial Screen skins / options.
I'm looking for something that will:
1. show a LARGER Contact Image
2. and secondary if it could have slightly larger dial buttons that would be cool to
Thanks for any info...
Oh btw - I have a AT&T Tilt, one is running Cube(SCLPF_1-62_Uno_Skin_) and one is not.

Thanks...
Thanks for the link
That helps with the larger dial pad .... but what about one that lets you have a Larger Contact Image?
Not really sure if your talking about just contact photos for the incoming calls or what. Cuz if you install S2U2 (which is free) and you can turn on its caller ID function and make your contact photos show full screen when receiving calls. But as for large photos to choose from to make an outgoing call, the only thing I am really aware of is PocketX Photo Contacts From the description I read, it too can make your contact photos full screen for your caller ID for incoming calls but this costs money. You can also browse your contact list via somewhat large photos. But keep in mind this program is a PHONEBOOK app. As for a DIALER that has very large contact photos, I dont know. Also, I havnt used this PocketX app personally so I cant tell you much more about it. Sorry. Anyways hope this helps.
I searched for the same thing as the first poster. Although it's true that Photo Contacts would do the job, it's incredibly bloated *and* (as already pointed out) it's not a dialer.
I haven't found an all round solution yet. My temporary 'solution' is to have a custom theme/pages with WAD, allowing for a nice big friendly photo dialler for a selection of my regular contacts.
I'm quite disappointed with the phone aspects of this device, to be honest. But I've bought it now so I'm just trying to make the best of a bad situation. The rest's great tho
"Nice" to see I'm not the only one looking for this ;-)
What custom theme/pages with WAD are you using? (oh and what's WAD).
Any chance of a screen shot?
Thanks

I'd just shame myself if I posted a screenshot, my artistic talents are near zero
It's quite easy, although a little time consuming to set WAD up the way you like it, but here you go :
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products/pocketpc/WisBarAdvanceDesktop/
Absolutely perfect for me, as I really (really!) don't like all these custom phone themes kicking around in here giving 3D effects and slowing my phone to a crawl.
WAD'll let you set things *your* way. Not perfect in it's entireity, but certainly the best thing available for me.
Any help, just ask. I'll do my best.
