V1615 Problems

I received my V1615 the other day and was initially chuffed to bits, the phone looks great, most of the functions you could ever need but my delight was sort lived.
I have loads of issues with the device and have called Vodafone to ask if they had any ROM updates, the man on the end of the phone tells me that the phone comes with WM5 and that no updates were available for the unit!! I said it cam with WM6 and he told me mine must have slipped through somehow.
The problems I have are mainly
Unusable camera
Phone Lockup
Wifi Poor and will not work with any Netgear wifi points
Can not turn on TouchFlo (can’t find how!)
Are these common issues with the Kaiser or should I be looking to get the unit replaced? I don’t mind holding on for a updated ROM
My current Rom version is 1.56.161.4
Any suggestions would be great
Hi,
i have had the V1615 since launch day and have none of the problems you mention.
WIFI connects to just about every make of WIFI i come across, i am computer engineer so use it on may types, so far DLINK, Belkin, Netgear, Zyxel and a few cheapo non name brand ones, with and without security and all work fine.
Camera works brilliant on mine, takes good pictures and unlike my old Vodafone 1605 does it in just about any condition, video is good as well.
Phone had never locked on me, had one problem after doing a Tom Tom install but they was fixed by a reload.
When you say touchflow assume you mean on the contacts and Ie scrolling around page ?.
Sounds like a duff one, have you tried a hard reset and reload ?
I have a 1 week old v1615 and it works fine. recommend you send it back to vodafone and ask for a replacement
mine is also running well...
I've had mine for about 2 weeks and I'm absolutely delighted with it. For a change, I think Vodafone have been thoughtful with the software they bundled onto it (Sprite Backup and TomTom 6 being just two).
Same here. HAd mine for a week or so and it's doing great. And it seems that guy you talked to doesnt know anything. The phone shouldnt come with WM5 but with WM6 as everyone elses.

It's doing fine so i see no reason to change it to another ROM at this point.
edit: By the way i just saw that my phone came unlocked from Vodafone. I just checked with a sim from abroad and it worked fine. Calls and the lot. You guys might want to check yours out too. I didnt have to enter any sim unlock code or anything. Just came unlocked. These guys here got the same thing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1625232
Nothing to do with ROM's but cool isnt it?

dod you align your screen properly? Try to realign it and soft reset and then check again
jaszek, did you even bother reading the post?
uglynip - That's a really weird problem... I have not seen it on my Fuze.
hey uglynip- interesting problem you have there, i know you said you tried a bunch of differens roms; I'm just wondering if this problem is happening right after a fresh hard reset (before any programs, cabs, tweeks have been applied)?
it only happens when i use any GPS stuff, like igo8, tomotom, navman, garmin, etc, and any other GPS test stuff that the cooks normally put into their roms.... it so weird,, i also tried calling HTC and told them about my problem and they said they have never heard of it b4..i really need to use my gps stuff on this phone cause im going overseas to 4 different countries next month....so i guess no 1 else has this problem... dammmmm...it
Hi uglynip1980,
Just watched the video ... seems to me like you may need to take a least-to-many approach. If you have the patience, I would suggest:
Flashing to the Stock HTC ROM image (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael_WM6.1_ROMs) - 5.05.405.1, 1.11.25.01, 52.58.25.30, 20764, 1.4.3
Install only one GPS application that exhibits the problem and test
Everything ok?
Leave the unit on for a couple of hours; try the GPS again start/exit a few times.
Everything still ok?
Points to something in the cooked ROM or add-on application. Since add-on applications are the next easiest to test, install and Reset one of your add-on application and confirm functionality. This should help reveal which add-on is incompatible with the GPS.
Now if all the add-on applications test fine, pull down and flash a ROM you haven't tested yet. Alternatively, you can download Da_G's Simple ROM Kitchen and cook your own if you feel up to it.
Same Problem?
Hardware related; possible that initialization of the GPS radio is causing and issue. Would suggest returning the device for warranty repairs.
HTH,
PS: You may want to update the Subject Line Text of this post to in case others with GPS/device troubleshooting experience are looking.

GPS problem!

Hey everyone!
I just got back my Diamond from repair because of the display oil patch (got a new one). Well, I tried to acticate the GPS but I don´t get a signal. Tried everything I found in this forum to solve the problem: aGps enabled/disabled, Quick GPS, HTC GPS Tool, tried many roms and radios..., etc
When I start the HTC GPS tool, i don´t even get those red dots (satellites). What do you guys think, is it broken or anyone another idea?
Thanks alot
Same problem
hi,
I've sent my diamond to a authorized rapair center once because of a boot problem.
When i got it back everything seems to work fine again.. but the next day i tryed to use Tomtom and it didn't work..
After that i'v been searching on the net, trying to solve my problem.
I've downloaded many programs but couldn't find out what the problem was.
After a month of irritating that the gps didn't work, i send it back to the repair center and waited for 1,5 week. When i got it back, everyting worked fine. I think it was a hardware problem because they didn't instal a fresh rom or anything.
I'm not saying that you have to sent it back right away, but consider it could be the same "thing" i had.
It could save you a lot of time searching, downloading programms, or what ever..
The most usefull program i used to see if it worked or not was: VisualGPSce
http://www.visualgps.net/VisualGPSce/default.htm
Goodluck with it!

no wifi and quick GPS doesn't work

hello all.
no matter what the wifi doesn't want to come on in the comm manager. Even if it's clear storage booted. And gps as well doesn't work. what do I need to change/replace/repair?
any help appreciated
mines is doin the same exact thing but i can get wifi just no gps
You tried changing the rom or radio?
thats my next stop im shoppin for a good one now
I found quickGPS stopped working (continually failed to update and said it had never been run) after I updated the installed version of TomTom Navigator from 6 to 7 recently. In the end a hard reset and reinstall of TTN 7 fixed that. It was a simple process for me as my setup is standard other than the addition of TTN. If you want to resolve it by fiddling around with registry entries and cabs etc, then we need to know what changes were made immediately before the problems arose.
I think it may be a hardware issue more than software.
also kaiser tweak installs about 50% of the time when doing a hard reset. it can't find 1~temp file or so..
I think i'll just deal with and move to the X10/android. Windows doesn't care anymore and i'll never buy an apple product so android it is..
BTW, where can I buy a mainboard for the tytnII?

If you've got the money to splash out on a new phone then that's one option but why not save yourself some cash and try to get what you have working properly by spending as little money as possible first?

There you are keen to spend loads of money again. If it's just a mainboard that's required then you're best bet is to find a TyTN II which has failed through some cause other than the motherboard and use it for parts. By all means check prices with your HTC repair centre but it won't be cheap new.
Now, this is something I should have mentioned from the word go, in order to provide any sort of meaningful assistance, we need to know what ROM/Radio and SPL is on the device now and have any changes to these occurred? If you don't know how to find this out, check the xda-wiki for further info and may the force be with you. You mention wifi and quickGPS in the subject yet GPS (ie the navigation application itself) in the content, which is it?
I just have the ATT software that came with the tilt. I don't have a backup phone and have no experience with Romming so i've put it off. Maybe I should look into and give it a go...maybe that will fix my wifi/no quickGPS connection.
I think I do want to get the X10 because of the rez and screen and keep the Tilt as a backup.
thanks for the help.
Time to call AT&T if reading the wiki and hard resetting fails

You haven't mentioned what network you're connected through but if it's not AT&T (ie someone has unlocked the phone), then you will have some problems with the default ROM. If you do use it with AT&T then if you've already read all the relevant xda-wiki pages here related to the Tilt (it has its own page and you should definitly read it) and are still getting the problems you've described even after a hard reset (try the D Pad button method), why not see what AT&T have to say about things? I suspect a hard reset will fix it though if there have been no changes to the ROM/Radio or the SPL and you're with AT&T.
Internal GPS problems
I have also problems with the internal GPS of my TyTn II.
I changed the housing of my TyTn II because the old one was pretty trashed.
Now when I have new housing, the GPS doesn't work anymore.
Everything else is working just fine except that damn internal GPS.
I've tried three different navigation software which I have in my phone's storage card, TomTom 7, Garmin and McGuider. No hope, the GPS is not working.
McGuider can find the internal GPS automatically but none of those navigation programs are able to get GPS fix. I've tried Quick GPS and HTC GPS Tool. Nope, doesn't work...
OK, what should I try next? Hard reset? Or just accept the fact and get another TyTn II?
Well, maybe my TyTn II would still work with external GPS but I wouldn't like to a) purchase it and b) carry it with me.

Broken WiFi for htc Diamond :(

Hi guys, I mingled with my phone last night and installed this android build i saw on neopeek, it said it has 3d drivers and camera working so i thought idd give it a shot. I installed it and it worked pretty fast , then i wanted to download an app and started wifi.
It took longer than usual to activate so i went to settings (i activated it from the power control widget 1st) to check out whats going on. And wifi it was saying activating .. error. I tried a few times when i said to myself , oh well, good build , but wifi aint working.
I returned to windows mobile and now i cant activate it anymore not even in windows mobile. I tried everything, soft reset, hard reset, installed a stock rom, nothing works
can anyone help me ? is it broken hardware ? should i use the heat gan on the wifi chip ? what should i do ? thanks
this is what the guy says to do

hi, i installed your rom, replaced the kernel for the camera to work, and i tried logging into wifi, it said error. i returned to windows mobile and now the wifi doesnt work in windows mobile either. is there something i can do ? thx
i remember that in early version it happens. I thinks the solution was to reset our device until windows recognize wifi.
i tried everything, soft reset, hard reset, installed a different rom with new radios, nuthin` worked. I think the wifi is broken hardware
Also When im in windows mobile and i go to device information , i can see the bluetooth mac address, i cant see wifi anywhere in the hardware tab
Sorry for editing once again , just wanted to say i tryed MTTY format + ROM installation, and its the same, i guess its hardware broken and i need a heatgun, will post updates, if anyone cares
200+ views and no answer. Thats pretty sad, i guess im posting so i can bump it in front, maybe someone sees it and can help somehow.
you don't see wifi MAC address under hardware..
I had same problem, changed bottom buttons(contains wifi chip as well) and now working
I changed them because they had pretty bad scratches.
you can get those pretty cheap on ebay.
if reassembing, make sure you connect screen and buttons ribbon cable(they don't snap in)
solved
Okay first of all i would like to thank the person who posted an answer , it really helped.
I didnt even buy new buttons, i just disconnected the phone from all the connectors (display, buttons, etc.), and reconnected. It was really hard reconnecting the display but i did it in the end. Now wifi works once again !
One happy camper here !
If you guys have the same problem , and have enough patience to disassemble and reassemble , this is your answer !
Mods, you can rename this one as solved
