I just got a JVC KD-BT1 stereo installed in my car. It has all kinds of bluetooth features to work with cell phones. One of the features I dearly want is the ability to automatically display text messages on the stereo's screen. Supposedly the Kaiser/Tilt supports OPP (Object Push Protocol) which is required for this feature. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get it to work.
Has someone had any luck doing this sort of thing and could they post what settings are needed on the Kaiser side? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone? Beuller? Beuller?

having trouble getting my Pioneer AVIC D3 to connect with the bluetooth on my Tilt; the bluetooth audio works just fine, but i cannot make or recieve calls on the Navi system and its pissing me off. i already made sure the device is visible and bluetooth sharing is turned on (idk if i need it on but trying this anyways)
anyone else have a similar problem or a suggestion?
ugh, i want an AVIC so bad. but my truck is only 1.5 din. wold require a custom install
My silly thoughts:
1. Your Tilt doesn't need to be discoverable, you AVIC does.
2. If the AVIC doesn't show under settings-connections-bluetooth, then you haven't created a proper partnership.
3. If it does show there, then you should tap & hold that entry and see if you get "Set Headset" or "Set Handsfree". If you don't then the device isn't reporting a BT profile for phone use to the Tilt.
If you go through all of that and it doesn't work, I'd check with Pioneer for software/firmware upgrades for the AVIC. It may be an issue that they've fixed with updated code.
bump, tried the above with no luck. my sony S710a works fine and this is REALLY pissing me off; i spent almost $500 on the phone and another 1,000 on the damn navi system, if this doesnt work out soon im selling the Tilt and going back to the Sony
It is more of a problem with the pioneer unit rather then the phone. I have the tilt (flashed to htc) and have a problem of auto pairing. Everytime I get in the car I have to turn bluetooth off/on to get the deck (9800bt) to see the phone. This is something pioneer knows about a realesd a patch for the avic z2 (is that right) to fix the problem.

thanks im a member at avic411 as well as here and have had no success thus far; looks like SIM swapping with my Sony S710a is the best i can do. too bad because skipping songs or going thru my playlists via bluetooth is freakin sweet.
yah, i have the avic-d3 and the att/tilt, im so almost about to take the phone back. Even my crappy iphone paired withno issue. Please post if you figure it out.
Sad to see there has been no progress. I just got my new Kaiser, and I can only use it for bluetooth music and not as hands free with Avic D3. What a piss offf!!!!!!!!!!
I believe its a conflict with WM. I have the Pioneer 6800DVD and bt adapter and the same issue with my Treo 750 and Tilt.
I was able to get it to work on my treo using a bt program called jetware. I haven't tried it on my tilt yet. but it might work
I can confirm that the Jetware patch works great with my Tilt! You MUST uncheck bluetooth stereo (on your tilt) and only use the handsfree feature.
Hey all,
I've searched on Google & xda-developers forum for a while, but couldn't find anything on this. I've got an EGO Look carkit (http://www.egohandsfree.com/ego-look.html). This carkit has the ability to read messages from a phone over bluetooth, at least that what's stated in the specs of the carkit. I also see this option in the menu of the carkit, but its disabled. This leads me to the conclusion that the carkit thinks that my phone doesn't have the right bluetooth-options. I also tried it with a Samsung D600 & Samsung D900, but that didn't show the messages-option enabled either.
I updated the carkit to the most recent firmware, and am running RomeOS V3.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406346) on radio 1.65.24.35. I have enabled Remote SIM Access in the bluetooth settings, but to no avail.
Is there anybody that has had a similar problem/feature in their carkit, that have this feature working? If not, can anybody tell me what bluetooth-profile is needed for this functionality?
Thanks in advance,
hawkeye
Hey guys, i need some help to figure this one out
I have many BT headsets:
- Moto HT820 (the best)
- Jabra BT8010 (perfect for when you need to look more professional single sided, or both sides when no longer dealing with clients )
- Sony HBH-DS970
They all work great on my Palm Treo (Zero problem), however on the X7510 they all seems to be stuck in the AD2P mode, so when i try to make a phone call, or pick up an incoming call, it doesn't load the headset profile.
If i go into the BT stack, after pairing for all of them, they have both of the Check Boxes selected:
- Stereo
- Headset
It is very annoying having to stop the music manually, and remove the headset to answer the phone in speaker mode.
specially when you are on a bike, and both hands are busy, staying alive in the crazy traffic zipping in and out, trying to avoid being hit by a truck or something, LOL
well since no one cared to help, i just wanted to let anyone know the problem has been fixed already.
How did you fixed it ?
You know, sometimes nobody knows the answer! Some folks might even thank you for telling them what the solution turned out to be. I have a pair of Motorola HT 820's that I normally only use with my desktop but it would be nice to know how to properly pair them for dual use on my X7501 which has only worked that way sporadically.
Thanking you in advance,
Brad Miter
Hello everyone...sorry for bothering, but I'm so frustrated that I'm about to scream...I really need some help here.
I have an AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) running their standard ROM. I just bought a Motorola H780 bluetooth headset for it. The salesperson said that he knew of some people who connected this model to their Tilts and was able to listen to music through it...and even on earpiece box it says that the H780 supports both the Hands Free and Headset profiles. However, I have not been able to accomplish this: it pairs for normal use (phone calls, etc), but nothing else. The "wireless headset" option is greyed out for me; the earpiece only gives me the option to connect using "Hands Free" profile.
I have looked...and looked...and looked for how to do this. The best I found from Google was for people who have Windows Mobile 5 (I have 6)...and even so, I tried a couple of those registry tweaks. On here, I keep running into countless forums that tell you, not how to enable A2DP, but how to improve it (using modified bitpool value in the registry, etc). Can SOMEBODY PLEASE tell me how in the world to get this working? I would really appreciate it...THANKS!
Well this is how i do it. I downloaded this http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware
that is the page then you get a2dp toggle
and then when my bluetooth is on the the headset is on i then go to this program and double click it and it puts another icon by the bluetooth icon and i get sound that way for my music and also calls still come threw too. I am not saying this is the right way but it works great for me...
bluetooth toggle
bluetooth toggle turns on the headset (single ear normal everyday talking sets) like a speakerphone.
all audio will get directed to it, im, e-mail, meeting announcements.
I had a sony headset model, with 12 talk time, nice because it will eat your battery while on ( tilt and headsets rated for talktime will apply to this ) . my plantronics only does 4 hours, so at lunch or when not in use I charge it and phone via usb cable.
I am in IT and most peaple are ok with me wearing bt headset (plantronics 655) and write me off on the gadget side when I wear it 24/7. In reality I listen to music (10% volume on audiomanager) all day (literally) from my 8 gig card.
I have streaming and resco radio, and podcasts. Mostly I converted my common mp3s to wma to have more on the phone and high audio cd quality is not to be expected over bluetooth. The right rom and radio are very helpful and the ability to tun off screen but still play music are all important or battery will suffer even more. using the stock rom and radio will work, just not a good balance team.
duttys roms and a few others had it included btw. I found a way to use audiomanager 1.2 on the new roms with 1 registry setting change to allow suspend mode.
I use a very simple version of it. I attached it because, I searched a bit to find a link, (still recommended for education on the subject) but didn't find it or in the chefs and mods downloads either.
Thanks to both of you for your responses! I appreciate someone taking the time out to help.
Blinkste21957, I tried your solution and it didn't work...for some reason, it saw my headset as being "unusable" (my term) with regards to headset mode. I don't quite know why; my headset clearly says on the box that it is. (Motorola H780). This is why I think that there must be something missing on my phone that will enable the "headset" option for my earpiece.
Acehole, I tried your solution a while back...but it was with the 8525, not the tilt, and with my (previous) plantronics headset. I was less-than-impressed with the problems I had to deal with last time...but I could give it a whirl again with this phone/headset and see what happens.
If anyone knows of anything else I'm missing in terms of "activating" the headset capabilities of my phone (which I thought was supposed to have A2DP), let me know. I'm just very puzzled why, for an earpiece that supports headset mode, my phone would have that option unavailable.
Actually, I think that it is the phone and not the headset. When I had a nokia I was able to listen to music via my bluetooth with no issues. The tilt will not allow you to do this without the use of a third party application. The following is what many people have used and are using as a work around. BTAudio, BlueMusic, A2DPToggle. Tech soft makes BlueMusic and the A2DPToggle and can be found here: http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=products. Unless one of the bright developers here on XDA takes this on, I fear that it will never truly be resolved.
Thanks ACEHOLE.. I was struggling with my iMate.
Someone on here recommended the Sony DR-BT22 some time ago. I bought a pair and they link up and sound is impressive on the Tilt with Windows 6.1
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8458466&st=bluetooth&type=product&id=1184369168158
I can also control forward and reverse functions of the player with them too.
Bluetooth - especially compatibility - is still one temperamental beast! My car's built-in hand-free made me and the poor guy from AT&T a believer. They can plaster A2DP, HSF, HDP, ESP, JMDP, whatever on the box and it it means squat as to whether it will work or not. Only ones that do are manufacturer-to-manufacturer....sometimes.

If you have WM 6.1, and if you have a headset with the A2DP profile (NOTE this is not the same as the "headset" profile) then you can listen to music without any problem. If you don't have both, then you need to mess with the software add-ons mentioned earlier in this thread .
As for me, I got the excellent Jabra BT8040 and it works great with My Kaiser with stock 6.1. Only about $30 too.
I'm having issues with a bluetooth conflict.
My set up is as follows:
- AT&T Tilt - WM 6.1 stock ROM
- 2009 Toyota Camry XLE V6 paired to the Tilt with Hands free profile
- Motorola S705 paired to the Tilt with Wireless Stereo profile ONLY -- I don't pair with Hands free profile. The S705 is connected to the Camry via an aux connection.
I also have GpsGate running in the tray with a bluetooth GPS receiver, but that seems immaterial to the issues I'm encountering.
When I pair the phone as above, the music from the car speakers skips to the point where it will be inaudible for 2 - 3 seconds per 30 seconds of music...no hissing or popping...just silence. The 2 - 3 second pauses are not regularly distributed.
In order to resolve the issue, I go to bluetooth setup on the Tilt and select the Camry Hands free and select 'Set as Hands Free', which, paradoxically, does exactly the opposite...it disables the pairing with the car (until I restart the car). However, once I do this the Wireless Stereo connection is rock solid. Alas, in this configuration, I can't get dial or hang up, hands free, via the steering wheel buttons.
I'm tending to believe the issue is the Toyota since I can connect a Scala 500 as Hands free without issue when playing music in the car (FYI, at no time do I have both the Toyota hands free connected and Scala 500 powered on at the same time).
I'd love to know:
- How I can confirm the problem is with the Toyota, since it is likely they will simply point to the Tilt or the S705 and claim that it is the culprit? I would like software output that demonstrates the Toyota's bluetooth implementation is ill-behaved.
- If the issue lies with the MS stack instead. My understanding from another site is that the MS stack was hacked to allow A2DP. I wonder if the MS stack is simply performing poorly and the Camry bluetooth setup is simply doing what it ought to do. If I could replace the MS stack with the Widcomm stack, this might allow me to test this premise.
In searching I've found some other threads which deal with Kenwood stereo systems and different symptoms (restarting), so I'm not sure the problem is related
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442370
I've also searched and found information on replacing the bluetooth stack. No confirmation in the thread whether this will work with the Tilt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=449775
Options i'm considering:
- replace BS stack with Widcomm -- no confirmation on whether it works on Tilt
- installing JETware -- mixed results in other threads, Tilt isn't listed as compatible
- reverting to 6.0 -- mixed results in other threads, don't relish the idea of going backwards (HTCHome via cab, etc.)
Edit: That would be the BT stack, not the BS stack (freudian slip)
Does anyone have any experience with the same problem, suggestions as to what options will likely bear fruit or if there is a simpler option? I'd prefer not to do a hard reset and re-install everything I have on this phone if I can get away with a simple fix.
Thanks.
Im having similar issue
I purchased a new headset for my motorcycle helmet.
I can not get the hands free working..
I have another headset that works with the phone, this ended costing me shipping charges thinking the helmet headset was bad.
I have searched many sites and have come to the conclusion it is the phone.
I have not seen anything that gives me an indication that we will find a fix..
