FM radio sucks! Anyone has this problem as well? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Practically useless radio. Even out in the open, the reception is basically like "shortwave radio". Even with the strongest of channels, I can barely enjoy anything.
Does anyone here has this issue too??

no very good reception, even inside our office.

No problem at all with FM radio - crystal clear

inside, outside, everywhere excellent stereo reception!

Is there any kind of setting that has to be done before one can get good reception? Need to find out whether its me doing something wrong or what...

Are you using headphones or trying to use the internal speaker only? I think you have to use headphones as the cord acts as an aerial.

I was using wired headphones as I know the wire acts as an antenna of sorts. In fact, my Sony headphones has a pretty long wire so why still the bad reception? Really sucks man..

Sony headphones? Did you try with the headphones that come with it?

the headphones are the problem
if you look in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284512
you will find a wiring schematic.
if i read this right, than the antenne is connected to the microphone connection of a headset. so just headphones will not work.
how did you connect your sony headphones?

You guys r right. Using the supplied headphones solved the reception problem. But now the negative point is that I cannot use my Sony headphones which are the in-ear bud type...
I have a converter from mini-USB to the normal 3.5 plug. That's how I connected my Sony headphones.

I'd say the Diamond did pretty well.

Apparently it still had some sort of signal, without an antenna.

find a converter with a microphone connection and you can connect a wire to that.

Hrm, possible solution for you fella. There is a wired HTC headset that was available around the time the TyTN II came out. It contained a mic and also had a 3.5mm jack for any headphones you want.
I wonder if that will work with the Diamond. It uses the extUSB connector...so it's a possibility.
EDIT:

to bad that we do not have people anymore who receive radio with their tooth fillings ;-)

Can anyone confirm whether or not you can listen to FM radio using A2DP Stereo Bluetooth? From this thread it's obvious that you need to have a wired headset plugged in, but I'm wondering if you can plug that in for the purposes of reception but still pipe the output out to the BT unit? Thanks!

I can confirm (because I'm using it) that the HTC usb-> 3,5mm standard stereo plug, model HS-U110 works perfectly with Diamond.
No problem picking radio stations with it
HastaSSSS

I had the same problem using the headset that came with my Trinity - no reception.
Changing to the supplied Diamond-headset - perfect reception!

Common charging port and headset port in diamond!!!

Guys
Are you all OK with the common port for BOTH
Charging & Headset
Dont you think this is a weak aspect of HTC as Diamond battery is so weak which necessitate charging it while using ur headset???!!!
Meh. After a while you'll get used to it - HTC like their silly ExtUSB port. Use a bluetooth headset or carry a spare battery.
Is there a way to use your own headphones with this kind of port? And: is there an antenna/headphone cable available in order to listen to the radio with your own headphones?

Of course there is..
Besides, if you look online, you'll see splitters for the ExtUSB, when you can both charge and listen to music at the same time..
As I understood, ExtUSB has 11 pins.. the splitters make it into 2 ports - 5 pins and 6 pins..
It may not look... "perfect" but you'll only use it inside anyway, on a desk (or chair XD )
Thanks for the quick reply. Can you recommend a place to shop for accessories like these?
Frankly speaking.. no idea..
I usually check several places to find a model that doesn't look to cheap, so it'll fall apart in a week, but also not too expensive..
You'll have to google, I guess )
There's a thing that would interest you...

mytouch 3g 3.5 adapter Plus remote on headset?

ok so my problem is that i have the original mytouch without the 3.5mm jack but i have an adapter that lets me use them which has a mic and button for play/pause
i want to know if there is any way to get something like skullcandy fmj(not those but just those as an example) to be able to to play/pause while connected to this
what i currently have the mic on the headset works but the play/pause button doesn't. the button on the adapter works only
is there anyway around this or am i stuck with the adapter?
sry if this has been asked
Just Curious, What adapter are you using?
better go and spent your money for bluetooth headphones... Adapter's have low durability ... and headphones have problems with jack/cables
i bought a brand new nokia bh-503 and im 100% satisfied

This would be good for general listening. I don't think this is very good for running with. Also, many inexpensive headphones (3.5mm) have very good dynamic range and noise cancellation for low cost. I have not found a good sports bluetooth headphone yet. Secondly, the battery life of bluetooth has to be considered, what will you do when your battery is low?

Auxiliary Bluetooth Car port

Anyone know of someway to use Bluetooth in any car stereo by the use of adding a Bluetooth receiver or something to the auxilliary port? I've messed my up my port on my phone before and I don't wanna do it again with my refurb . I listen to a lot of music...
You could plug an FM transmitter into the headphone socket and tune the car radio to it if that's any help, those things are very cheap these days and you can get them integrated into car chargers..

Belkin makes a product for this. Two of them in fact. Look it up on belkins website under the iPhone in car section.

If you're willing to replace your head unit, search these forums for mention of the JVC KD-X50BT. Its a nice Bluetooth receiving head unit that apparently has some pretty decent sound. Reasonably priced, too! I plan on picking one up soon to use with my nexus.

I remember looking on ebay and seeing what looked like a bluetooth box thing that connected through the aux port.
ie this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/iKross-Bluet...ltDomain_0&hash=item51a218fae1#ht_2983wt_1032
For a simpler idea, cant one just use a male to male cable to connect it?
i just bought this and recieved it today..

its great, no loss in sound quality, easy charging and easy pairing, small with short cord, comes with an adapter so you can also connect it to stereos/tvs/etc.., also has good BT range.

Oh thanks this is exactly what I was looking for! Can you easily switch the chord out with a longer one?
Do an ebay search for "bluetooth receiver", you'll find all kinds of devices. As for how well they work, well, let us know.
You can try the flexsmart x2. It has a line out and line in jack. It is charger and Bluetooth as well. If you plug the line out to the head auxiliary jack then hook the device up through Bluetooth, you won't have to keep unplugging and plugging in. It could potentially work through Bluetooth.
I would try it, bit my car radio doesn't have an auxiliary jack though. Ill see If I can figure out a way to test it and report back.

They have a bluetooth 2.0 a2dp on deal extreme, it gives pretty decent sound and is only 13$, only downside is you have to wait for like a month for it to get here. I can post links yet as I havent hit 10 posts lol, but the sku is 8422 and its on Deal Xtreme. Happy hunting
I use this one in my truck. It did not come with bluetooth and I plug this in my aux to listen to music from the n7 or phone. It works well and pairs very easy.Battery last around 12 hours during use and charges in about 2.

Im using the HTC Stereo Clip. Awesome device. A little pricey but I think worth it because it does sound like it's directly plugged into the device.

I use the Stereo Clip as well. I've found that battery life on it sucks, so to remedy that I have it constantly plugged into a car charger. This works for me because both my AUX port and a charging port are inside my center console, so they are both hidden from view. Otherwise, you have to recharge it every 2 days or so.

How long do you have it connected? What's your bt device play time? I guess I don't use the clip enough in a shot to really compare. But I have been happy with it and I too, have it constantly plugged into my car charger.
I like some of these that I see here. The GoGroove has pretty decent reviews but can it charge while I use it in my car? Anything that I won't have to take out of my car to charge and has pretty decent audio quality will do. Also if it sleeps on its own when a Bluetooth device isn't connected to it. Really just needs to not be so much of a hassle to use and be reliable.

Headphone jack problem

When ever I plug in any L-shaped headphone jack I have to push it in really hard for it to work and any jostling will disconnect it. It works with I-shaped ones ( I'm assuming ) because the stock headphones that came with this phone are I-shaped. What headphones do work for this phone and what doesn't and more importantly, is there any way to fix this?

Phone does not register headphones being plugged in?

My HTC One doesn't register that a my solo hd's have been plugged in with the L shape jack, if I use the opposite side of the wire it works but is extremely distorted. Any ideas?
The headphones and the wire work fine on a tablet and 3 other phones I have tried it on.
There's no visible switch in the connector (for headphone detection) which means that headphones are probably detected based on their impedance...
Solo HD's have impedance 45Ohms which is a little high but nothing dramatic, so my guess would be a lose contact - try your HDs on another HTC One and/or different connection cable...
I had this happen to me but with any pair of headphones I plugged in. Sound would still come from the speakers. How I fixed it was to toggle beats off then back on and then plug in the headset. I don't know if your issue is the same but that's what did it for me

And that didn't work but thanks for the suggestion. The weird thing is that using a standard 3.5mm jack wire which I bought cheap on eBay works fine with the headphones but the monster one doesn't?
And other headphones work fine? The big one is if it's the phone or the headphones...
Yup I've tried five other pairs of earphones and they all work fine.
I've tried a pair on ibeats, generic Philips ones, the stock HTC one earphones, stock iPhone earphones and also some seinnheisers. All work flawlessly.

yeah it is....beats me (no pun intended). Do you have an extension cord for headphones or splitter? Just to try out that it isn't a lose contact between the phone and headphones...
