Hi there!
I searched the forum using google - but couldnt find a solution for my problem: I am using an exchange server with directpush on my WM 6.1 (no thrills v3 rom)... notification works perfect when the new mail is in the standard inbox -> but when my server side filter rules move the new mail into a subfolder, then my mobile device doesnt alert me that a new mail arrived!
I HAVE already marked the responding subfolders as "synced" (mobile outlook -> extras -> manage folders) but still no alert for those folders?
Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

You are right, there's no solution!
At least not when you use WM Outlook.
Only workaround is to use FlexMail. (Or maybe another 3rd party app)
Hm Flexmail ok... - are u using this one? Any experiences compared to pocket outlook? What about exchange implementation (like scheduler - time coordination between participants etc) and traffic?

No, I don't use FlexMail. Sorry, can't help you with that.
I tested Flexmail: Notification functions with every sort of account except MAPI and so except the communication with the Exchange server. Too bad
Can this be true? If we want to use push-mail / contacts / whatever together with our exchange server, then we cannot use subfolders and rulesets because only the basefolder will pop up a notification?
Is there no update / patch for pOutlook?
Try Watchflag, works with built in email client in windows mobile and allows to alert on subfolders. $20 though.
Yeah, I had this same problem, too. I have a Windows Mobile 6 device syncing with Microsoft Exchange. I have server-side rules set up to automatically route emails to different folders, which are synced.
The solution? Well, I couldn't find one, so I wrote one:
http://www.blackmonlabs.com/
It's a lightweight Today screen plugin that will display all your unread emails, in all your folders and accounts. As you read your mail, the display will automatically update. Also, you can configure each mail account to have its own alert as new messages arrive.
The free version supports alerts and sum-total emails for each account. (like the Messaging plug-in, but includes all your unread emails, not just the inbox)
For the $10 activation fee, you get the ability to have the today screen break out the folders with unread messages, so you can navigate directly there.
Cheers!

Any chance this could be implemented for HTC users? In HTC sense, there is no homescreen ;(

I know this isn't Kaiser-specific, so will happily accept pointers to any information....TIA.
Using an Exchange 2003 server it appears there really are only two choices: "Deliver all mail to handheld" or "Deliver no mail to handheld".
If I setup folders and server-side filters to move messages into those folders, then I believe I will: a) have to specifically sync those folders and b) not receive notification when a message hits the folder. Even that won't cover my general case - I'd like to do things like:
-notify me if a message marked urgent is received
-notify me if a message from a sender on my list is received (e.g. my wife, my boss, etc)
-not notify me of any other message receipt
Is there a tool (pay is fine!) that I can run (on the handheld, no access to the Exchange 2003 server) to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance,
Richard
Set up rules in your PC outlook client to move all unimportant emails to a sub folder. Only the inbox gets sent to your device.
Peter
Are you sure?
You can set any folders to sync. I get some items that outlook thinks are junk still pushed to my device when using directpush - whether I have left outlook open or not.
I use Pocket Outlook for my email to a great extent. I am sick and tired of clicking on two links to see the images in each email.
Switching to another email software package would be considered, but which one of them can connect and synchronize with my desktop outlook?
all the third parties one use the default databases so it syncs the same way, the application just displays the data better and gives more options.
Not true
All the third party pocket outlook replacements do not use the same outlook databases at all.
Still looking for either how to turn this on by default or for suggestions on actrual third party replacements that do a good job and do use the same DB...
I agree Kruse,
I have not found any 3rd party email SW yet that is all inclusive with the Outlook contacts database.
On a somewhat similar topic, would you or anyone else on this thread know how I can delete or turn off the (Mobile Outlook) feature that currently duplicates all of my sent emails and returns them back to my inbox on My Kaiser/TytnII? I've searched the forum for about three days and found nothing so far on this topic.
If I try to delete them the next time I Send/Receive they just show up again, which is ultra frustrating. The same sent emails (that I deleted) keep reappearing until some pre-determined setting in either the mobile or PC version of MS Outlook (expires I guess) and/or decides it is time for those emails to not register in the inbox as new mail anymore.
Could this somehow be an Outlook setting on my PC?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Sent items in inbox - solution (gmail, mapi)
You are not using the "recent:" setting, look into the setup instructions in google, that will get rid of the sent stuff appearing in the inbox. Basically, in your settings on the handheld only, the email address you set up in your configuration should not be
<whatever>@gmail.com
but instead:
recent:<whatever>@gmail.com

I note that your sig shows a version 1 hardSPL. Do you still use this SPL now with your 1.65 series radio? Have you seen the *Hopeless* GPS after 6.1 update thread yet? If you use a SPL designed for WM 6.0 with a WM 6.1 setup, you may encounter numerous problems. Checking the thread referred to above should help get your GPS up and running again
On the TF3D sceen, is there any way to link the mail button to the outlook mail instead of the "internet" mail?
Thanks
Err... If you set up your Outlook mail.. it would work.
If you set up your Outlook Mail and KEEP the Internet Mail (as well), then you will have both of them being accessed from the TF3D mail button (two envelopes on the right, instead of one)
If you set up your Outlook Mail and DELETE the Internet Mail, then you will have one envelope on the right .. and THAT will be the one for Outlook Mail.
To set up your Outlook mail, Tap on TF3D mail button
Then tap on Inbox
Then - Menu - Tools - Options
Now, tap on Outlook E-mail and enter the settings.
I actually tried to configure the Outlook Mail account (time pass) for gmail.
I couldn't get it to work.. (for some reason - sure I did something wrong).
Tried to sync Outlook Mail with my PC using Active Sync... some certificate validity issues came up..
Then, just decided to chuck it.
Had two envelopes appearing on the side.. just went ahead and cleared up everything from the registry - related to the mail set ups and set up my Gmail as the Internet Mail again.
I have set up my Outlook, and as you can see from screenshot, it's got mail in it, however, if I delete my POP3 email, the TF3D screen shows no accounts in the mail screen...
Anyone got any idead how to link the Outlook Inbox to the TF3D Mail screen??
Your email notification icon at the top looks quite suspicious... do you have another email client (such as BB Connect or Intellisync Mobile Suite) installed? I used Intellisync before and this is the icon I received and it also wasnt appearing in TF3D.
Let me know if you are using Intellisync- there is a work-around

It's much better than Outlook Mobile isn't it? Nice to have REAL push mail
The reason TF3D isnt working is because it only recognises Outlook Mobile and not IMS and you do not have an Outlook account setup. The workaround (I'm hoping to find a better way) is to create an Outlook account through Activesync/Mobile Device Center on your PC. I've done some tests and there is no conflict between the two.
The downside is that there is no real integration between TF3D/Outlook and IMS so IMS is essentially working in Parallel. What I am trying to figure out is how to map TF3D to IMS so that when you click the envelope it takes you to IMS and not Outlook. At least with this workaround, you will get the best of both worlds with TF3D showing you your emails and IMS giving you the real push mail functionality which Outlook lacks.
Let me know if it works for you

Excellent. I'm now showing the envelope in the Mail TF3D screen. I presume that with this workaround, all I will ever get is the "Click to view message" message, and not the first few lines of the message that you get with a POP3 account or a proper outlook account. (see attached)
From reading your message I am also guessing you are using version 8 or 9 of IMS. I currently look after 3 servers all using varieties of version 6. I have just created a new server with version 9 which installs the "intellisync" suite of application on the device. I've tried it on an XDA Exec, XDA Orbit (and some nokia and Sony Ericsson devices). I haven't tried it on the Diamond yet. How is it on that?

Correct.
I am using version 9 which works like a charm. I work for the local operator here in Dubai and am currently one of a few internal testers for IMS before we launch it as a service. I find it to be very functional and light on resources- highly highly recommended. Beats all competition including Blackberry (I've also set it up to get a personal POP3 account in much the same way as BB Internet does)
As for how much of the message appears in the TF3D, this depends on how much you tell Outlook to download of the message- all you need is a couple of KBs at the most to get the first few lines in the envelope.
Hey guys
I'm sorry but this will be probably an off-topic and stupid question but when you receive an email on your Diamond does it look like on your pc and can you view emails that have lots of graphics in them ??
I'm really sorry but this is my first WM device and i would like to know things like that
It depends on what kind of email account you are setting up on the device. If it's an Exchange account, the server has to be running Exchange 2007 for you to get HTML email on your device. Internet Email and IMAP display HTML without any problems.
well i've been using maill2web and it just emails didn't look like they should. Maybe you can tell me where can i find a good exchange server or something like that ??

Well... there's many to choose from depending on your needs and budget (not sure of any free ones but you'll probably find some out there- although possibly not because Exchange is not cheap to install or maintain). Anyway a simple Google will give you many results http://www.google.ae/search?hl=en&q=hosted+exchange&meta=
Anyone found the solution yet ?
Noticed the solution to sync to a phony account - But I would really prefer to sort this via a registry tweak or similar.
I need to roll this out to a large number of corporate users, so the phony tweak is kind of hard to roll out compared to a registry modification.
Anyone?...
Its kind of frustrating to see the number of new emails in the notification area of TF3D but not actually being able to use the TF3D envelope function.
Regards
M
Hello,
I tried to find a solution, too. But up to now without success.
Does anyone know, where TF3D gets it's information from?

I also had an intense view at the registry, couldn't find any link to IMS/Outlook key...
I had a phonecall with nokias tac, telling me they will release a patch to solve this problem, not only to see unread mails at the TF3D - to have the original functionality of the tf3d mailicon workin. He could not tell me when the patch
will be released but it WILL come...
...but I'm very sure it could be solved with the correct Regkey...

Sorry to drag up an old thread - I'm currently using Intellisync and would also like to use TF3D to view my emails ...
Did any kind of patch or regedit get released or worked out?
Meanwhile, I'll try the work-around above in this thread if I can work out what to do exactly.

Gary.
Any news on this ?
Any sight of that Intellisync patch ?
Hi all,
It's not really a Diamond specific issue, more a Windows Mobile one, but since I'm running Direct Push on the Diamond now, I thought it would be ok to post this here.
I have Direct Push enabled (Microsoft Exchange) and it works.
I have quite a few subfolders in my 'Inbox' on the Exchange server, having Outlook sending email to the appropriate folder as they arrive, using Outlook's 'rules'.
On the Diamond (mailbox 'Outlook') I can see all those folders and I have marked them all for sync - which works.
Now the problem is that I only receive a pushmail notification (sound alert/vibration and onscreen message) for email that is not send to a subfolder by a rule, and that stays in 'Inbox'.
When I receive mail that was sent to a subfolder by rule, it get pushed to the same subfolder in the Diamond, but without any notification.
Now who's dealing with a situation like this, and knows how I can get my new email notification for all subfolders?
Thanks!!
I've got the same problem, and it is realy a problem because I've have a lot of subfolders.
Jacky
Same problem for me too... any luck figuring it out?
-Alex
I've wished for this for a long time and I know of no solution. I have rules running in Outlook to sort only messages that I don't need immediate notification of on my device. The rules to sort the others are disabled. Periodically, I manually run the other rules to sort my inbox.
I have a "different" but effective workaround for this:
Are you guys using Server side rules to move all of the e-mails to the different folders?
I set all my rules to be client (Outlook) side. So when I am at my notebook, the e-mail will be moved to the correct folders. When I am out in the field, and using my Diamond, those rules obviously don't run, so everything stays in my Inbox and I get notified of all the mails.
Back in the office, my Outlook rules will move it to the correct folders when I open Outlook.
Like I said, not the best of ways to do it, but it works for me
A probably dump question, but wanted to see if my company is running push enabled email and if is it possible to receive mail notifications on my Diamond by knowing the following: company is using Exchange Server - I can check my work email only either via Outlook client or Outlook Web Access.
From the above does it seem that I can have push email working on my Diamond? Do they have to be running some special push server for this to work.
I know I can ask this IT department, but wanted to clarify this here before I approach them.
Thanks.
@ EazyVG,
Since you're accessing email through OWA (and Outlook Client), that means your company is using MS Exchange Server(and Microsoft Direct Push, which is a part of Exchange Server).
So you can get the emails pushed on your Diamond as soon as they arrive(or any device that supports Direct Push for that matter) just by configuring an email account on your device with the settings same as of your email server.
Thanks for the info.
So, there is no solution to the topic-title issue?

There are several applications that you can try:
MessageNotify - Installs as Today Plugin, showing all subfoders with new e-mails
You can find it on Softpedia.
And CheckMail that claims to do the same, but the site section dedicated to the software is unavailable at the moment I was writing this post
The producer is called Magicashop
(sorry for not being able to send links to those applications, but xda forum prevents me since this is my first post)

Hey, Forum!
I am looking for a decent email app for the SGT (running MIUI) that meets the following criteria (all are mandatory for me):
1. Has split screen view (folder pane and reading pane).
2. Can sync (using ActiveSync, not webdav!) MS Exchange 2003 - 2010.
3. Has build-in support for meeting requests (including accept/reject/propose new time), calendars and contacts.
4. Has built-in support for multiple accounts, IMAP4, POP3 and IMAP IDLE
5. Has built-in support for HTML messages.
6. Has built-in support to move messages between folders and accounts.
7. Can be used in conjunction/integrated with the Pure Messenger widget.
Also, I have looked into the following apps that are NOT sufficient/compliant with my requirements! I am looking for a clean, simple and efficient client, so count these out:
- RoadSync
- Exchange by TouchDown
- Moxier Mail
- Exchange with ExMail
- K9
- Gmail
- Samsung Email (this one is ok, but can't use it on MIUI)
- Enhanced Email
- Kaiten Email
- MailDroid
- AndroMail
If anyone can help, please fire away! I look forward to any suggestions.
PS: In case you are wondering, I don't plan on doing anything special with it, just reading and sending emails...
Cheers,
C.
Yes, I'm looking for one like that too... Anyone has any info about such client?
Bump!
I really hope someone decides to develop such a client or update existing clients to feature all of the above! Doesn't anyone want our money? :-D
I guess there are no other email apps that I haven't tried yet. I'll keep looking though!
Thanks all,
C.
