I don't know the answer, haven't got my diamond yet - but can I ask why you want to use iexplore over opera and all its new features? Just asking if its not as good as its hyped to be.

we used to have different applications build for IE and by clicking a URL the Diamond will open Opera.

I would be interested to disable Opera as default browser too. Anybody found a way to set PIE as default browser. It's not that I dislike Opera, but one of my most frequently used sites http://mobile.alex.nl opens really small in it. Every time I open it I have to zoom in to make it readable.
Of course if anyone knows a solution to this problem, I'm also interested.

Did you guys tried to search?
Look what I found:

it seems, the new version of sktools is able to set iexplore as default browser.

Actually I did, but apparently with the wrong terms! Thanks!

Yes, but this will not change the browser that is opened from the browser tab in TF3D. Despite the default browser set, in TF3D when click on "Browser", still the Opera is opening

Best Browser: Opera Mini, Opera mobile, Netfront, or Mozilla Minimo?

What is in your opinion the best browser (last version) for our Kaiser instead of Explorer.
I never tried Mozilla Minimo or Netfront...any feedback?
For quick n easy when on GPRS Opera Mini
If on 3G OR wifi then opera mobile.
I've tried the rest and these are the best IMHO
I've tried Minimo and found it absolutely useless. Was not impressed with Opera Mini, but Opera 8.65 is Impressive.
I've never tried Netfront but I would like to.
To be honest I'm not sure that these kinds of thread get us very far - and often lead to arguments.
The best advice is try them all yourself and lookup Menneisyys guides as he does a superbly dtailed round up of these.
Having said the above, I'll ignore it and say this:
Another vote for Opera Mini's latest version (very fast and actually a nice set of features and viewing options - great on the road) Free so you can have it anyway alongside any other browser
PIE is actually pretty decent IF you install the slow scroll fix CAB (without the CAB installed forget it)
I also use Opera Mobile. Actually I sometimes run bothe PIE and Opera mobilesimultaneously- there are some sites that just render better on some browsers than others and it's not always consistently the same browser. So that's my choice or rather my three.

Can you post that .cab here. (PIE slow scroll fix CAB) I can't seem to find it in a search.
Thanks!

Got it -- Thanks!
honestly i have found opera mini the abs. best hands down..the only thing i can say that it should add is a way to have more than one window. but thats it.
Another vote for Opera Mini. Don't forget to read my related tips & tricks, which make it MUCH easier to use - for example, the invocation hack. See http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Web Browsing, browsers

Try it with Jbed, using the hacks & shortcuts I've developed and/or explained in my Bibles. With them, OMini is WAY better than without.

You didn't lose much - OMini and/or Opera Mobile / IEM with a decent plug-in (PIEPlus + Flash + CrEme for Java) is WAY bettter.
Could you send a link to your bible ? Thanks

Let me disagree - if you know the right hacks/ shortcuts, Opera Mini is by far the easiest to use. Particularly now with the bookmark sync features between your mobile device(s) and desktop browser(s) - it REALLY rules!
I use PIEPlus
opera mini by far

Oh
Ok, is there any reason why i can't seem to connect to logmein web page using opera or ie?
yea...they should've made one browser..ie and opera together...havin problems with opera on my mobile too...everytime i rotate the screen to landscape mode...it minimizes:/...neone know a fix?n where can i download the latest version of opera?mayb updatin it will fix the problem...
I'm not sure if there is an update. I believe we already have Opera Mobile 9.5 (beta), which Opera lists as the current one.
But, if you don't care for the default Opera interface, perhaps you should try Opera Mini?
http://www.opera.com/mini/
For info on the differences between Mobile and Mini:
http://www.opera.com/products/choose/
I have to admit that i find Opera Mobile a hassle sometimes. Adding that the data-charges on my subscription is quite substantial I often use opera mini, wich really is getting good these days.
Still looking for the answer. I really liked Opera on previous devices, but really don't care for it on the Diamond. I don't care for the UI, or lack thereof, and the Favorites is a mess. Zooming and panning is a nice feature, but having to constantly adjust to get a decently rendered page is a pain. PIE is much better for me on the Diamond. Better/familiar user controls and better rendering.
I do have IE on a soft key, but programs that auto switch to the browser still call Opera as the default. Opera also eats a big chunk of phone memory. I have tried the 9.5 Beta and it's some better, but not much and does not delete the existing Opera.
So back to the original question...anybody know how to uninstall Opera and change the System defaults to PIE?
Thanks

Opera defbrowser, etc... need a little help!

I've succesfully edited the DEFBROWSER, HTTP: & URL: in registry to make Opera open stuff by default.
Even RSS Hub started open links in Opera after I changed the http: value in the registry.
There's one thing that refuse to open with Opera, it's in contacts, I mean the browse webpage in contacts (those who have website). I hope you understand what I mean... Please help me find out how to change this from PIE to Opera, I don't want to do a hard reset just because of a small issue like this...
Hi
Hi man, how did you do to makes your Opera default browser? Can you give me keys and registry values..? Thank you very much it will be nice from your part...

How to make opera mobile default browser?

Ok...i've been having some problems with this for a long time now, and now im' finally started looking into how i can change it. but does anyone know how to make the opera mobile browsers the system wide default no matter what programs are used? it seems like some programs use opera, while others (palringo) default to PIE. the funny thing is, even palringo doesn't always default to PIE its just a hit or miss.
i searched and found this
1) suggests changing Default Browser key:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/: DEFBROWSER/1 to operal.exe from iexplore.exe (then soft reset)
doesn't work
2) opera:config --->install--->first time launch, save (exit then soft rest)
doesn't work
3) in the opera settings menu, there's an option to make it default browser (exit then soft rest)
doesn't work
does anyone know of a sure fire way to make it so that system wide whenever you open a url it always opens in opera? only other thing i found was xperia and a touch pro tweak cabs which obviously wont work on the kaiser.
lil' help
Search this forum for a .cab called WM6 OperaDefault. I use it on my s620 running WM6.5 it should work for you. Any URL in a email opens in opera mini.

[Relatively] Stable Browsers

I have encountered the annoying browser glitch with text box's. And in my search for stable browsers, I have found a few results. Aside from the awesome Opera Mobile, I have found these to work rather nicely:
Ninesky Browser:
I haven't played around with this one too much, I only really checked to make sure it didn't crash. But the layout is nice enough, not too cluttered.
Maxthon Mobile Browser:
This one was the only one so far that allowed me to utilize FimFiction.net's archive search. Opera Mobile and others would either refuse to load or crash the browser. This browser also has an interesting active gesture system, which allows you to temporarily see the result of your finger swipes. However I find this to be more of a pain, as it is hard to always get the browser to move around when it is interpreting every swipe I make. I also couldn't figure out a way to zoom in and out.
Browsers I have found to either crash or not work very well at this time are: Miren, Dolphin, Boat, Bolt, xScope, and Skyfire.
That is the scope of my search so far. If anyone knows of any other stable browsers, I would be happy to learn about them .
I'm using opera mini. Worked fine. Tried several others, with poor results. Dolphin almost made it, but the url bar does not work (can't type your own url, only coming from search or another site)
hi,
the dolphin HD or dolphin mini browser crashed? I would like use the dolphin mini, it's possible and stable?
thank you
Both had problem at the url bar, and both had some minor crashes. Doesn't look that good anyway. Opera mini still rules.
Probably any browser based or that uses the default webkit will not work.
text only browser
hi,
text only browser work on nook?
ex: market.android.com/details?id=com.spacenext.textonly
like kindle article mode.
thank you
Opera works great for me.
I finaly found a browser that can use volume keys to scroll and (so far) seems stable. It's called Galapagos browser. Doesnt compare very good to Opera otherwise, but scrolling with keys is a big help on eink screen.
xScope
I use xScope Pro ($2.99, lite version available). You can use the volume keys to scroll (remapped my side buttons on the NST), change the standard font size to be bigger and change the theme to an all black one. Only problem I've had so far is logging into reddit.com causes it to crash for whatever reason. I think it's permission related, going to poke around on the command line later.

yes it works fine
I've tried several browsers but only opera mini made it, it has poor scrolling but after a while you get used to it
Sent from my NOOK STR using XDA
"Exsoul Browser" seems to be working fine.
EDIT : It does not =_=. Sorry for useless post.

Opera mini, and or opera mobile. Also, they can be configured for high contrast browsing. (editing global CSS file)
I've been having the best luck with Opera Mini. Pages load very, very fast, and scrolling is remarkably responsive if you turn on NoRefresh Toggle.
I had high hopes for Dolphin Mini, but it doesn't seem very happy on the Touch.

B&N (intentionally?) broke webkit on the Nook, so yeah, Dolphin won't work.
"Maxthon Mobile Browser For Android"
seems to be working more than fine + it plays Flash animation with the plugin installed.
EDIT:
Probably the best replacement for Opera Mobile there is.

But can it use a user defined CSS file, for high contrast browsing?
Nope.
In Maxthon you can use the "WAP mode" to remove all of the pages formatting thus creating a high contrast site.
You can also turn on a "negative mode" to inverse all of the colors.
This NoRefresh makes me quite happy with the achieved contrast.
Opera "New" 7.0
I tried the Opera "New". It only crashes, so I'm reluctant to upgrade Opera mini 6.something.
Update "New" to 7.0.1 also crashes on launch.

I would like to know how to set up the user css. Couldn't find any mention of it for the mobile versions, only full version.
