Guys,
This is my experience with O2, which stuck on boot after udated to new IVAN's ROM.
First of all I'd like to thank Ivan for his great job.
Now, what I did:
Downgraded to se2003
Unhide, Unlocked EXTROM
Repartition EXTROM to 8MB
Upgraded to new WM5 ROM
Reboot -> STUCK !
I found the solution which worked for me and may be will help you too.
More, after my second attempt to upgrade ROM, my Laptop rebooted itself a 47% ! I did panic- my device was gone dead!
even Bootloader mode was unavailable.
OK, I disconnected PDA from cradle, removed battery and left it for 10 minutes. Then I put battery back, and was able to put it into bootloader mode.
Then, I run mtty utility and typed in "set 14 0" I'm not sure why and how, but it allowed me to to go to bootloader mode.
-I set SE2003 OS
-I repartition EXTROM to 16MB
-Updated again to new Ivan's WM5.
Voila ! it's OK now. I'm installing all needed CAB's and now have clean very fast and working OK WM5 OS o my O2 XDAs PDA.
( although have not tryed yet BT and WiFi)
I'm afraid the problem was due to setting number 8000 KB in partiotion tool set it actually a bit less something about 79xx KB.
May be EXTROM for Ivan's ROM did not like it and failed to boot. But this is just a speculations, I'm not sure. I should perhaps set size o EXTROM to say 9000KB and try again, but simply did not have a time to do test.
Nevetheless, I'm happy now.
can u provide me step by step (noob guide) to downgrade back to wm2003se ... the one i downloaded from the official site doesn't work ... it will say error and i still stuck with wm5 ... im a noob ... please really help, thanks
ok at last i found it ... extract the installation files provided by o2 ... put the rom file into the downgrade folder provide by the modified rom pack ... now i try go back to wm5 ... wish me luck
i tried go back to win2003se but when i use the unlocker tools it failed ... so i guess i will nvr get to see the ext rom ... anyway as long as the phone can be use i will leave it as it is now
Yes, I know, it gives you an error message (something about wrong parameters) on unlock. But, under that you can see another message box with unlock OK message. Quite weird.
Steps I took to downgrade are exactelly as instructions in downgrade folder.
And one more thing I forgot ! After unhiding I did soft-reset, then unlocked and then Formatted ETROM folder before upgrading to WM5.

maybe that's why u able to see the extrom after upgraded to wm5 ... btw i install the cabs one by one and now my wm5 worked ... guess imnot going to touch it anymore, but the performance is actually quite slow ... do you actually install all the cabs into the device, storage card, or extrom partition (i dont have this) ... to maximise the performance?
what WM5 are you using?
if you ask me, i'm using Ivan's ROM + radio 15.0 with about 10 diff. cabs installed.
performance is not such impressive, but everything is working and I do not have soft I won't use.
clean and quite reliable, but speed is slow.

I also got stuck with a white screen after flashing ArtZ Rom and doing a hard reset.
Just a white screen and nothing happens.
Flashed other Roms - back to Tuma - same thing - white screen after hard rebooting.
Stuck and confused now.
Any ideas for a solution?
Thnx
OK - I am back.
Panic mode over - whew!
Flashed back to WM2003 from i-mate site - it worked.
Then flashed to latest ArtZ Rom.
Don't really know what happened or why. I've upgraded to nearly every WM5 Rom with no problems. suspecting the partitioning of extrom?

imatrix, thank you very much, your hint solved
this issue with stucked boot screen and Extended
ROM Error when downgrading to SE2003.
I already tried with mtty and "SET 14 0", but
don't know for the other commands / task 28, task 0.
The main hint is "task 28" which made DOC_format_HW+
DOCInfoTableinitHW+ other formatting.
Again, thank you very much and all the best to you.
Greetings from Croatia, the small land for a great vaccation ;-)

imatrix's suggestion.
@imatrix
Followed the steps before, and followed them again.. I'm still stuck.
Something interesting happened though:
There are two horizontal stripes across the splashscreen now.
I already tried to flash the OS, It doesn't work with the standard imate flash executable (It used to work before) and now I'm getting a 'MODEL ID ERROR' when I try to flash it using the BAupgrade... executable.
I tried with the MAupgradenoid tool, it flashes but I still get stuck on the splashscreen...
Thanks,
Wadih
BlueAngel Bootloader
Anyone has a way to either dump a bootloader file for the BA (Providing the file of course) or alternatively directives to copy it from another device (From the same make, i.e. Imate PDA2K) ?
Many thanks,
Wadih.

I did, but as I specifed in me earlier post, eventhough the MAUpgradenoID flashes the files, I still get stuck at the splashscreen.
Interesting point: After flashing witht the MAUpgradenoID, I try reflashing back with the BAupgradeid.. I get the Model Error ID error back..
Something in the BA is wrong, and I believe it may be in the Bootloader. So, is there a way to replace the bootloader itself?
EDIT: By the way, I can't seem to be able to place a WM5 rom instead of the WM2003, although the flashing procedure starts, it quickly ends (i.e. without the percentage bar appearing) and says that the flashing worked successfully... But nothing gets actually flashed.
Many thanks for the help imatrix.
Regards,
Wadih.

Hi, I have the problem, that windows does not recognize the Blue Angel any more, so no "WCEUSBSH001" available. Any help??
Thx
Hi,
Can anybody please help me with this proble,
I am freaking.
I bought the phone SX 66 (Cingular) a week back and thought will download some cool things in the weekend.
I thought of upgrading the Rom.
The sequnce was confusing.
So I downloaded BAUpgradeUt file , EntelBL, GetDeviceDte, HTCRUU.DLLHTCRUU.cnf and xda3nbftool files on to a temp folder.
I guess I executed the BAUpgradeUt file (with Activesync on) and the phone was on the cradle connected to my laptop.
It restarted and went to a mode where the screen started showing USB v2.07
I removed the battery and tried restarting by pressing the power button, it showed serial V2.07 (as it was not connected to the cradle)
I waited for the battery to dry down but nothing is happening.
Now when i connect it back to cradle, it says USB V2.07
I am really worried.
Its a little difficult to understand fro the XDA forums, so can anyone help me step by step on how to fix this.
I mean which file do i need to execute.
Should i disconnect anything?
Pls explain in detail as i will miss out again and dont want to loose this.
I have unlocked this successfully erlier
Awaiting the earliest reverts
Thanks
Abhi

Hi Midget, Thank you for the patience and being there.
I am sorry but I am still stuck with this.
Like mentioned by you,
1. downloaded mtty1.42.rar onto a temp fold on my laptop
2. Stopped wcescomm.exe from taskbar(the rapimgr was not running so dint get it)
3. Device was put into cradle (was saying USB v 2.07)
4. I executed the mtty1.42 extracted file(application)
("This is where I got stuck")
I got
open port setting popup
a. Asked me for Port (options were COM1,2,3 and USB)
I selected USB
b. Asked me for Baud:
I selected 115200
c. Databits = 8bits
d. Stopbits = 0bits
e. Localecho=No
f. Flow Control=None
e.Parity=None
When I say Ok, It opens me a window of Multi Port TTY Version 1.42 and within that there is another window that is opened that says
USB115200 N-8-1 and its a blank notepad kind of a file
(Do I need to type in anything into this and save and and download?)
5. U have instructed me to
a. Choose WCEUSBSH001 (where do i choose this from?)
b type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset. (where do I do this)
c. type "task 28" to get your device formatted (where)
d. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot (where)
6. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already(I was not able to reach this stage).
Please take a little time in guiding me and sorry if I have been troubling you with basic questions and I m very worried and want to fix this sooner.
Also is it required for the phone to be charged suring this process and is it mandatory that I should ensure that it reads USB v2.07 while it is on the cradle?
Awaiting ur instructions and Thanks again s much

I am trying my best to follow the instructions and dont know where am i going wrong.

I tried entering

USB>task 28
USB>task 0
USB>
Saved the file as USB
The phone in the cradle was still showing USB v2.07
I took the phone out of the cradle, removed the battery and inserted it back into the cradle

I ****ed my BA like this guy and found this solution via google.
It worked perfectly. God bless you sir.
Stuck in Serial
The BA that I have killed is stuck in "Serial, v2.07". Placing it in a USB cradle does nothing. I have tried to connect using a cable I purchased, but I think I need a straight thru cable and I only have a null modem.
I want to verify that I should be able to connect via serial and do the same process?
Thanks.

still in stuck serial
After a long break, I'm back to trying to recover this BA that is stuck in bootloader. I've read wiki's and forum posts till I'm blue in the face. I have two BAs, one with WM2003 and the "stuck one".
If I put the good BA into the cradle, it starts Activesync and the USB driver and I can connect via mtty and see the good BA, the "stuck one" does not start anything.
If I plug in my serial cable and put in the good BA, I see the "CLIENT" message. When I put in the "stuck one", I see nothing and typing the codes does nothting.
Any ideas would be greatfully appreciated.

HOWTO: Reinstall existing ROM without touching Extended ROM or Upgrading/Downgrading
The following methods allow you to get rid of all user data on the device (except for memory recognised by the resident system as being storage cards).
>>> METHOD A -> Device Only (recommended, faster)
1) Use two fingers to simultaneously press the RECORD and CAMERA buttons of the phone (on the phone's left side). Whilst these two buttons are depressed, use the stylus to click the soft-reset button underneath the phone - keep the two buttons depressed until the boot loader screen appears.
2) This should enable three options on the boot screen. These options allows a YES/NO response. Use the RECORD and CAMERA buttons to navigate between the options, and switch the YES/NO values. Set the following:
1] Enable KITL: NO (this is a debug tracing option which isn't required, except possibly for developers)
2] Format Registry Hive: YES (clears the registry)
3] Format Storage: YES (formats the internal memory: "\" directory, and under "\RamDisk\". Items under any storage card "\Storage Card\" are not formatted).
3) Once these options are set, press the MAIL button (in between today and the Pocket IE button) to confirm these options, and continue with the Registry and Storage format.
4) The device performs the reset, and the Windows CE setup screens (ie. screen alignment etc.) appear. Continue as per a new install.
>>> METHOD B -> Mtty
1) Kill activesync processes: Ctrl+Shift+Esc in Windows to bring up Task Manager. Kill wcescomm.exe and WCESMgr.exe (by selecting the task on the processes tab, and clicking the End Process button below)
2) Phone needs to be POWER + Record + Pen Reset and on Serial/USB screen. COnnect it to the PC, and it should show USB, with the backlight remaining off.

I have the same problem with my O2 XDA IIs, this is how I resolved the problem.
1- Take the battery out
2- Put Battery on while holding onto Power Button and Record
3- Now the PC shoud recognise a Windows CE USB
Now you can updategrade or downgrade.

try mtty method, you may have screwed a lil your device
1. Download mtty from the attachment
2. Stop ActiveSync, by Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Escape) kill two processes rapimgr.exe and wcescomm.exe
3. put your device into the cradle
4. Run mtty (from downloaded) Choose WCEUSBSH001 (or just USB in port) and press OK
5. type "set 14 0" without the quotes to tell bootloader to boot the OS after reset.
6. type "task 28" to get your device formatted
7. type "task 0" to ask your device reboot
8. take the device out of the cradle, and manually reset it if it does not do that already.
After this procedure reflash

After step 4. mtty alerts with "USB port cant open". What now?
On your phone, when connected, ensure that at the top of the screen, it says "USB", not "Serial". Also ensure you've killed the ActiveSync processes properly.
Also consider:-
* Are you able to use ActiveSync to sync when not following this process?
* Does USB appear in mtty as a connection option?

>>> METHOD B -> Mtty
3a) Run mtty1.42.exe. (or the attached mtty application)
b) Select USB from first list (where COM1 is displayed. Don't press USB button). If USB (or a list item containing USB) isn't in the list, then you have't connected to the PC properly.
