How do u flash the rom? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi guys,
Kinda noob since diamond is my first ppc phone..
i am interested to flash to 1.37 as it seems to fix a few dreaded bugs like memory leak.. however cant seem to find a noob guide on in the forums
few questions
1) what are the common programs used to flash the rom?
2) After flashing the rom, all settings would be back to default?
I understand that i can use sprite backup to backup the settings
but can it still work after rom upgrade?
If so, after restoring the Rom using sprite, would it be back to the old rom version OR new rom version but previous settings?

Read here. Don't make a new thread, look around and read the stickies.

Upgrade ROM and Backup/Restore

Hello All,
Got a question about using a restore options after upgrade to a new ROM im on the 2.17 T-Mobile custom rom now and was thinking about going to the 2.2 T-mobile custom rom. I haave both the sprite and spb backup, both work pretty well, my question is can I upgrade the rom and then restore from lets say sprite back up everything including registry and exluding windows directory, otherways its such a pain to go thru all the tweaks and reinstalls. Has anyone tried this ?
I tried Sprite 5.0 and it did not work. When the restore was completed the system went into a hard reset. So I reinstalled my apps using the method I described on my blog here.
Yeah I was reading your blog before, but I tought you were using a older version. I got so much stuff already on and so many tweaks, bookmarks etc... I dont know if its worth it with such a small upgrade no major bug fix no major features.....
I agree, if memory is not an issue then it probably makes sense to wait until an AKU 2.2 or better ROM is available.
Xelencin, how long until you can cook up a T-Mobile AKU 2.2 based ROM?

Can I add to another ROM?

Ok so I got my blackstone last week and its great, but really want to have the functionality which is in Dutty's latest ROM. I'm thinking of flashing to it, but have a couple of questions first (I'll admit I'm a complete noob with this). I've searched the forums but can't really find any useful answers...
1. Is there any way that I can add a package or two to Dutty's ROM? I've read quite a few threads giving instructions, so I'll have to try and follow them to do it (if poss). I want to add things like RemoteTracker in so that if my phone's stolen I can still track it.
2. I found a thread saying how to backup the ROM, so I'd do that first so I've got the shipped Orange one handy. But if I happen to mess up adding software to the ROM (which is likely for me), will I be able to restore the Orange ROM or will I be absolutely stuffed?
Thanks!

Question here, need advice

I have a question that bothering me front and back.
Ok i have an himalaya and I flash the latest 6.5 rom, and it was exactly what it's after it flashed completely.
When i want to draw back to the 6.1 rom, which with a mode sms (i used before) and the mode sms is not working after all. After that i found that flash rom in the bootloader mode, only overwriting the rom and it's not remove all roms and install in a clean and clear new version of the rom.
Can it be "format" completely before i want to flash the new roms?
do you choose the format storage and reg hive after the rom install
as all flashing guides describe ?
yeah it's truely what i want. Thanks man!!!

1.25.707.1 cl227575 release-keys AND backup

Hello guys, im planning to root and flash my wildfire device for the first time, i already studied and review all related things on hot thing done in wildfire..
now, the only question and seems not posted here..
As i bought my wildfire the stock ROM version is "1.25.707.1 cl227575 release-keys", where can i download this ROM so that incase i got a problems with different custom roms i can revert it back to my original rom version, i cant seems to find it in SHIPPED-ROMs website..
and if there no such thing as that version in the net, is it possible to backup my original ROM?.. (i guess not because i need first the custom loader to have the backup features which will wipe first my original rom before i can backup)..
Thanks!..
as far as i am aware you can use unrevoked to root your phone. this will also install clockworkmod which replaces stock HTC recovery tool. within clockword mod you can make a backup of your current ROM and all apps and settings etc. you dont need a custom ROM to backup your existing ROM. just need your phone to be rooted. which is pretty much a one click process once you have got the windows drivers installed.
not sure about posting external links on forum but google unrevoked and see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7895908&postcount=127
good luck
