Perhaps the title isn't the best, but I think this problem might be quite common. Most mobile phones and 99% of mp3-players have the ability to stop the music without taking it out.
With the Kaiser, I always look like an idiot when I take out my Kaiser out of the leather pocket and fight with all the cables just to stop playing music. Also with my headphones, if I press them, I'd expect them to stop/resume when pressed once, play the next song when pressed twice, instead it goes into sound recognition mode when i press the button.
So my question is, is there any:
- way/hack
- accessory
- software
that allows me to stop and resume playing music without taking out the phone?
bump.............................................!
there is wired remote control for htc devices called w100. it has media player and phone controls. i think there is also wireless (bluetooth) remote control availible. search for this under accessories here on xda and on htc's website.
Most A2DP bluetooth headsets will have forward/back buttons that you can configure to do this sort of thing.
thanks!
the kaiser supports the ad2p profile?
Kaiser handles ad2p just fine...grab a bluetooth headset and call it a day (I got a nextlink for about $25 on ebay shipped and am very happy with it and its 10-11 hours of continuous play time)

Ok gurus, here's a good one for you with a CE development kit.
The Wizard (and the SDA for that matter!) have a BOTCH in the way they handle bluetooth. That is, with a headset active, they will NOT send ringtones and notice messages (noises of various kinda) through to the headset.
They also won't play music there either. Yeah, I know, its not high fidelity nor stereo (at least not until AD2P shows up) BUT you should be able to watch ORB'd video, for example, with sound.
But - you can't.
Or can you?
There's a tiny little app called "BTon" and "Btoff", along with "BTtoggle". It does what you think it does - it redirects all audio out the bluetooth port.
Now this would be perfect except that once you turn it on the Bluetooth audio channel is left open, which beats the snot out of the battery in both the wizard AND the headset.
So - here's the challenge...
Figure out how to intercept (hook) the OS so when it goes to open the SPEAKER audio channel it, if configured to AND you're attached to a Bluetooth headset (which can be determined from the current active device in the registry) for either handsfree or headset, you execute the equivalent of "BTon".
When the speaker channel is CLOSED, you execute "BToff".
Now you suddenly have Bluetooth headsets working the way Microsoft SHOULD HAVE implemented them. If your phone rings, it rings ON THE HEADSET with your ringtone. If you get a SMS, the notification tone comes through the HEADSET. If you play a music file, it plays on the HEADSET. Basically, if the headset is active, it plays there - if not, THEN it plays on the speaker - no matter what the app is.
The Wizard software has control of the audio amp in the unit. It therefore must be possible to determine if the amplifier is togged on, and if so, to execute this.
What 'ya think? I'd think this would be a VERY simple app to write - I don't have the hardware register layout nor the CE development tools or I'd take a crack at it - but one of you guys has to....
This little app, sitting in the background, would consume almost no memory or processor time but would basically fix my (and many other's) BIGGEST ***** with the Wizard AND the SP5 - since both do exactly the same thing, and both should be amenable to the same fix.
Anyone up for the challenge?
Anyone got it to work? the BT headphones work fine as long as the device is 'switched on', if I switch the screen off it pauses playback, but only with BT headphones, works fine through wired headphones.
Any ideas?
I haven't had that problem at least when listening to music, but I only have headphones at the moment so thats all i use them for.
I am using the Plantronics 590A, and I am able to switch the power on and off from the phone during music playback just fine. The music keeps playing over bluetooth.
Odd then, got some sony BT headphones, and if I turn off the screen, then it stops.
Hmmm, have to have a dig around and see if I can work out what the problem is, what ROM's are you guys running, oh and remember this only effects the BT A2DP headphones, works fine with wired.
What player are you using?
The work around that works for BOTH WMP and AudioManager is to also install Advanced Configuration. Advanced Configuration includes some helpful shortcuts. ONe of these short cuts is callled "Turn off screen." This shortcut will be available in Settings/Buttons, so just assign it to one of your less important buttons (I use PTT Hold). Viola, when you want to shut off the screen, just use the hardware button and both players will continue to play AND over BT.
Ron
Just FYI, using a prophet and I have the opposite behaviour, ie it stops if A2DP is disabled.
can anyone recommend a bluetooth receiver that works well with this phone?
I am looking for something I can plug my own headphones into... has its own mic... and controls that will work to skip tracks when listening to music.
A friend recommended me this
http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=152
which is about 2 years old now... just wondering if anyone else uses anything else?
or even a wired one that controls the music and has a mic, but lets you use your own headphones.
Thanks
Hi
I have a set of Motorola S9 Bluetooth headphones, which also has a built in mic and music control keys. I was getting backgroud hiss issues with my Vario II, but I can confirm that these headphones work flawlessly with my Touch Dual.
http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=177
hmmm was hoping for something i could use my own earphones with...
thanks though
The S9s are good and sound quality (at least on my old N73) was absolutely fantastic.
However, I couldn't recommend the Motos to anyone. I've had 3 of them, and they've all failed with exactly the same problem - all the controls have failed. They're supposed to be waterproof, and having used them down the gym whilst running, they couldn't cope with a small amount of sweat.
You could go for :
http://l8shop.net/products/SonyEricsson-Stereo-Bluetooth/Headset-HBH-DS200.aspx
Only £30 at L8shop.
ahh... thats the one i ended up going for... hopefully arrive soon...
we must think alike haha
Sony Ericsson HBH-DS220
I ordered a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS220 from Ebay about a month ago and paid 60 USD - works really well for music, has full controls including call functions - even pauses music when you have an incoming call and you get to use your own headphones if you prefer - which is why I chose this set?
Here's the link - hope this helps?

just received my Sony Ericsson HBH-DS200 today...
I have to say I am disappointed.
In the description on the mobilefun website I think it said music browsing... I was expecting to be able to twist the thing (like on my old md players, etc) to be able to skip forward or backward.
I was also expecting a volume control, but there is none.
Other things that bug me...
- when phone is on standby mode, when you press play on the ds200 the phone turns on. I am not sure if this is because of my ROM (t-mobile uk) or because of the ds200. A mate of mine back in oz has the touch dual with the motorola mentioned above, and the screen doesnt switch on. Pretty annoying.
- when someone rings me... I thought that I would just hear the ring in my earphones... but my phone rings.
- when listening to music... it seems to cut out momentarily (half a sec) every once in a while. Not sure if most bluetooth audio things do this, since this is my first one.
On the positive side of things... when listening to music and you decide to call someone... it switches automatically and the mic seems to work alright with the earphones. But I guess this is something that I expect anyway.
Also it is a good size.
Lbt-hp210c2bk
any one had try or tested this new logitec LBT-HP210C2BK??
I'm generally disappointed with the music playback on the Dual, either with the supplied headphones, or with my Jabra BT620s.
Pressing play on the Jabras doesn't always make the Dual start playing. Sometimes pressing play on the Dual, playback commences through the phone instead.
The momentary pause in the music seems to be a "feature" of the Dual though It does it both via wired and A2DP headsets.
Also, see what happens with incoming calls when you've got the bluetooth headset connected. Mine routes incoming calls through the phone, not the headphones.
And for those considering the S9HD - consider the price difference, and look at installing the SRS WOW HD software onto the Dual - probably does a similar job.

I have a DS220 and am generally satisfied with the sound quality for music playback but I do have one (rather major) problem: after phone calls (both incoming and outgoing) the phone drops the connection to my headset and I have to switch the headset off and then back on to reconnect. This is really irritating!

As I've said before, mine won't route incoming calls through the headset, makes it VERY dangerous whilst driving.

my dual occasionally, without notifying me, turns off bluetooth.. found out yet again today when i got a call in-car.
i can find no reason for this, but i sympathise...
Hi everyone, I just recieved my Sony MW600's in the mail and charged it up and paired it to the Focus. http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=25845
This is by far the best headphones I've used next to the HBH-IS900's I've owned the past 2 years. I would've gotten another pair of the IS900's but didn't want the propitary charging port after seeing the MW600's are micro usb too. Pairing was easy and all the music controll functions work great. The headset has it's own volume adjustments too, but it's touch sensitive which you have to watch out when your holding it by the sides. You can skip tracks or pause music with no problems. Now for watching video they of course don't work because there is a problem with Zune sending sound to the headset, but the controls still work. The FM radio function works pretty awesome, better than my cars tuner. To bad you can't store station pre-sets. Only other thing is finding a place to clip it. Other than that it is a very good buy.
I have it - I second it as one of the best devices for bluetooth.
is there any remote control or an app that will allow me to change the music without first having to hit the power button to turn the screen on then press the next button while driving?

there are many many different bluetooth solutions in the market, that can do much more than just skipping songs remotely. Adapters, Radios etc. . if your car radio doesn't have bluetooth, there are several bluetooth remotes that connect through aux.

i have a gm9aux or whatever adapter on my cd player that has two rca inputs can you recommend one or a couple with controls for changing songs via bluetooth?
was looking at this adapter http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10827&cs_id=1082704&p_id=7364&seq=1&format=2
but like i said i need one with controls for changing songs as well
my car has steering wheel controls and there are tons of adapters for controlling iphones and ipods with it but none for the hd7 or windows phones
maybe Parrot MKi9100? - that one would enable you, to skip your songs, but also use voice comands, it also includes a handsfree set. Please search the web for more options on bluetooth adapters. Wait, in your case, mybe a new car radio fits your needs - one that connects to your steering wheel controls and has bluetooth to use with the windows phone - there would be the JVC KD-R721BT on the cheap.
Thank you 123fels321 that parrot kit will work perfectly i think for my application..
the only reason i do not replace the headunit in the car is because mine is a monsoon which is 1.5din and aftermarket stereos look like crap in the car while the stock unit looks perfectly fine and sounds decent enough after a speaker upgrade. so I am pretty much stuck with the monsoon.
