camera focus problem....... - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

The "touch and press" shooting feature of diamond is great but it wont work after i take a single picture. The "touch" operation is fail to target on the autofocus until i soft reset the device. Anyone experience the same here ?
my rom is 1.37.707.1

I have 2 Diamonds, both same at 1.37.707.1.
1st has the issue above, 2nd which i bought later for my wife is perfectly fine. Touch and press all the time no problem. But to think of it may be the 1st one was registry tweaked, or it could be the hardware issue....
Need some further test to conclude....

i had a similar problem at one point, and had to soft reset a couple of times. it then seemed to work ok again.
Maybe changing ot from touch and press to something else, using it, and then changing it back might help.
Of course, it could just have been i was catching the touch sensitive ring around the button and that was confusing the hell out of the camera.....Damn my fat fingers!

Anyone has a solution for this probleme?

Hi,
I have the same problem with Italian Rom 1.37.408.3
Someone have a solution ?
Thanks

Also got the problem - take one photo with 'touch and press' autofocus then with the next photo I try to take straight away, the 'touch and press' autofocus function stops working.
Then if I don't take a photo for a while, the function returns but then soon after taking another photo, 'touch and press' autofocus stops again.

I have tha same problem.
I find that if i tap the shutter button repeatedly (whithout pressing it) i can get the autofocus to work properly. Sometimes i only need to tap 5 or so times, other times i may have to tap 20 times. (only takes about 3 seconds or so)

lol
I'm getting the same problem and it's been happening out of the box (i.e. before I started tweaking ;-).
The 'tap quickly without pressing' works for me too. Bit of a strange one really.
Btw XDA rocks!!!!

Hi guys,
Anyone managed to solve this problem?
Now we got the capacitive touch button SDK, so perhaps some experts can fix this issue
Is there a function that focuses the camera, so we can map this to some other button instead of relying on the centre button..
Cheers!

Autofocus not on all Kaiser models?

I upgraded my AT&T Tilt to Helmi_C's cleaner TyTN II ROM until realizing that some models may or may not have autofocus capability in their cameras.
I read the manual for the TyTN II and it talks about autofocus. Is it a registry setting that I can put back on my Tilt, or is it different camera hardware altogether?
Can anyone dump out their real TyTN II's registry, specifically HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera? Thanks!

Thanks. Unfortunately, it turned up nothing different from what I already had. Perhaps it's hardware-enabled after all...
have you tried holding down the camera button half way down on the tilt then letting it focus like with most digital cameras?
i have seen my tilt focus when doing that.

Autofocus in kaiser
Hello. What's really the autofocus?.
How can I know that it's operative?.
Thanks.
This might sound stupid but could it be because you have your sound turned off or on vibrate? The reason I ask is because when I first got my Kaiser I thought auto focus stopped working because when I pushed the button half way down it didn't make a noise. It turned out I had it on vibrate and the sound from autofocus was not mechanical as I thought but it is really just a sound from the speaker.

Well, aside from any sound setting that may be attached to the focusing operation you can easily see the process on screen. When you take a picture you will notice 1 or both of the following:
1
If you use the half press to focus and then full press method to take the picture, then when you half press and pause you will see the white lined centre box on screen turn from white to green when focus is achieved.
2
When taking a picture you will see the Centre white on screen box move in and out a little before the picture is taken. This is the auto focus searching for focus.
Mike
Ok.

Problems with pictures in touch flow

sincetoday a have this problem...when going to touch flow pictures and make a fingertip to the photo it goes big and in one ore two seconds it goes back to the touch flow screen by itself.
any chance to correct this ? scrolling through the pictures is no problem but when I open it it goes small by itself
someone the same problem ?
Try soft resetting your Diamond and see if it still happens...if it does then try a hard reset..if it still does it then it could be the phone is faulty and needs to be returned.
Mine doesnt do that as far as i can see.

Photo taking problem

Hi,
Does anyone has the same behaviour :
I am selected as "touch and press" to take a photo.
The first time it works, but for the second shot, I ve to press totally to take a picture. Same for the third ...
If I close the photo device and reopen it, it works again the fist shot, and not after.
It 's very embarrassing, because when you press totally, the picture is taken automatically when focus is OK, but not when you want.
I have completely the opposite. I touch the first time and nothing until I full press, then every time after that I can touch and it focusses.
It's weird and crappy.
I have Touch and Press selected and if you touch (keypad lights up so I know I touched) nothign happens. You have to press and then of course if focuses and then takes the picture for you.
Touch and Press is very useful in order to focus first and then frame your shot before pressing to capture.
Not working. all the modes seem to be the same AFAIK.
On mine, it seems also that every mode finally lead to "press ttotally" that autfocus then shot

Same Problem here, sometimes AF works or not.
even keeping the Finger on the touch button (hoping for AF to activate) seems to trigger digital zoom instead (without sliding the finger)
Any Solution yet?

HTC Touch Diamond GER (Stock ROM)
Same thing happens on my device. Touch and Press works on first shot, then the following shots require Full Press. Quite an annoying problem.

I think my Sprint HTC Diamond is defective.

I just got the sprint version of the HTC DIAMOND Sunday, and this is my first WM device. Warranty is still good as well.
My problems:
1)
When trying to take photos or videos, the zoom constantly moves in and out regardless of me not pressing a thing (For example, when i open the camera, the zoom constantly moves from 1.0-2.0x all on its on). I don't know if it suppose to do this or not, but i don't think so. The same thing goes for viewing pics and Opera as well, it zooms back and forth without me touching a thing.
2)
Sometimes it seems as if the "end" button or buttons on the right of the center button, doesn't respond well. I try to hold it down to lock my phone, but it takes several tries in order to this. Maybe its just me
3)
Iv'e read that the center button susppose to act like a scrolling mechanism, but i dont think mine does. Has this feature been disabled or something?
Its a nice phone, but i think mine has a couple of bugs. The zoom problem really annoys me, because i cant take pictures with the camera zooming in and out constantly. Please help..
When using opera Or the camera rotate your finger around the center button(stay on the outside of where it raises)
With the end button try to press it on the far bottom right(as far from the center as possible.
I think the center as a scrolling thing has to be enabled

Make sure when you are in the album or camera, your palm isn't covering the scrolling "ring" around the centre button, as this could be causing the zooming problem. If all else fails, hard reset.
Also, for the buttons to the right, make sure you are almost at or close to the edge of the diamond. if you are close to the center button, it may be acting as a "right click" (as the area to the right of the center "scrolling ring" is a "right" button).

thanks for the info, but when i say it zooms without me touching it, i meant that literally. For example, right now im looking at a pic in my phone. The phone is literally just laying on its back while I'm typing this message. Its constantly zooming in and out of the pic in real rapid movements. Could it be the screen protector that came with the phone? (But then again, it only happens when I load the camera/camcorder,search the web, or view pics) I have it on, but i didn't think that would be the cause. Anyone else encounter this problem? Maybe I should just do a hard reset, or maybe return it. IDK
Sorry to hear...
I have the screen protector on that came with the device, and mine is working fine. Try a hard reset, let me know if it works

Camera button sometimes unresponsive

I have to hit the camera button 2-3 times in order to start the app. It doesn' t matter whether the screen is turned on or off. But it works nicely and sensitive as soon as the camera app is running so I hope it's somehow software related.
Anyone else experiencing this?

It is working just fine for me. You have to consider the camera button has two pressure points. One usually to focus and a harder one to shoot. The first pressure point will not trigger the app.
I'm well aware of this and it really works perfectly in app. Maybe I'm simply to impatient when I quickly want to take a pic...
To open camera app you need to hold that button...

Right, it takes about 0.5 seconds...
It's also a vast improvement over the Z1C button, which was way too stiff and using it often caused camera shake for me because you had to press so hard. The Z3C has found just the right balance between sensitivity and 'clickability' without it triggering asccidentally all the time, IMHO. It's now actually easier to use the button than the on-screen one in most situations.
