Howdy all!
Just found the forum via a Google search and was wondering if anyone can help - MANY apologies if this problem has been posted elsewhere (im a newbie here so please be gentle!), but ive just had a look but couldnt find anything......so here goes...
I've just got myself a XDA 2i today and having active sync'ed Tom Tom 5.1 to it i've come across a "program may not run correctly as its set up for older software" message. After running TT anyway it does indeed start, but cant seem to connect my wireless GPS receiver to it, and im just worried (having read elsewhere here) it could well freeze up in use if i perserve with it. Anyone have any advice?? Please??
I have a XDA 2 and my Tom Tom 5 runs perfect on it.........but am now left considering selling this new 2i on eBay (instead of the other one i'd intended) as i just want something that works. Can anyone help? Im just looking for some simple advice..........id REALLY appreciate it
Thanks in anticipation ............
Ant
Ps, I guess my main issue is just advice whether i should perservere with the XDA 2i (i just want Tom Tom to work!) - or sell and just stick with the XDA 2 that 'seems' to be less problematic. Im soooo desperate.........help!
Upgrade to 5.21
I'm not familiar with the Alpine but one thing that you should be doing for sure is to install the upgrade to 5.21.
Hope this helps!
Connect Tom tom Wireless Bluetooth GPS
Hello
I had TomTom installed in my Qtek 2020, and it worked.
I had a problem at first. I wasn´t able to connect with my wireless Bluetooth Gps, but then i set up the connection by setting it as "other NMEA cable GPS", strange, but it worked. I never could connect it as a "Generic Bluetooth Gps". I have a Pretec Gps Mini
I hope it works
Have you made sure "Receive all incoming beams" is NOT ticked in the settings - connections - Beam - menu? that is the normal culprit that we all forget!!!
Thanks SO much for the help guys....the 'incoming beams' thing did the trick......and it now recognizes TT5. THANKYOU!! Here's hoping it doesnt freeze up on me....! :?
With regards to the updated XDA2i not being compatiable with 'the older software im trying to run' would anyone recommend getting rid of it and sticking with the XDA2? The 2i is certainly the business with wi-fi, etc....but having uploaded a Commodore 64 emulator from Clickgamer (and having the same message pop up) i just dont know if im going to run into any other issues with this newer version of Windows its running. Any help would be really appreciated....thanks again
I would not worry about that pop up, it does it with loads of programmes, my 2i is very stable with tt5.2, even when using the phone via a BT headset and I have other programmes running in the background - the choice is SD card is more critical - Transcend 80x's seem to be the most stable.
Excellent...thanks for the advice!
Btw, just noticed the 'radio' thing in your signature......is it part of a download for the xda? Any other websites you'd recommend? My 2i is brand new out of the box and needing some cool gadgets put onto it! 8)
Thanks (again!) for all the help
Theres some good stuff on this site pdagold
It is freeware as well.
As for the Radio, I, along with many others have upgraded to Pugs rom, this seems to be the most stable one around, you can get it from the FTP part of this site, then just follow the instructions to reflash your rom.
a MASSIVE thanks for this.........sorry to be such a newbie, the advice here has been fantastic. Thanks alot!! :!:
i recommend pugz rom
i was using the o2 rom with tomtom 5.1 and and i kept loosing connection also had bluetooth issues, once installing the cooked rom, i've not experienced any problems
damned tt5.21
the problem is that I'm trying, at least, to let the O2 2i working with tomtom5.21 and fortuna clip-on gps receiver...
I read a lot of posts, so my beam settings are ok...
seems that tt5.21 don't want to communicate with the gps.
In fact the gps fixes (red light), but tt5.21 don't want to see it. It continue to say "no gps receiver", "signal lost from..." or, in the configuration, "Gps signal not good (or something else, I'm translating from italian)", and the small circle on the left up corner rolls, rolls, rolls...
so has any ideas? I'm not sleeping since 4 dayz....
tnx for all
pugz rom?
and where can I dl it? can so plz post me a link? tnx
*ant if you have problems with tomtom locking up swap sd card for a mmc card I was having problems with mine have had no lock ups since I changed to mmc

Hi *Ant
I have used tt 5.1 5.2 and now 6.01
With both tt 5s on SD card I had frequent freezing, but since changing to an MMC card it has worked with ought a single glitch.
I LOVE my XDA 2i
Good luck

Finally, i´ve decided to upgrade to WM2005 to solve my "unrecognized card" problem... but, now, I´ve not wlan settings!!! ¿?
The tiacxwln profile is still there, but there´s no wifi settings in "connections".
Is this normal?
I hope your answers came soon!!! please...
thx!!!
oka, i´ve found it...
still "unrecognized card"...
It sounds like a hardware problem to me, i don't think you will solve it by switching ROM's. You will probably have to get a new Wireless card (unless it is built into the motherboard and then you might need a whole new one of them :S) fitted by someone.
maybe your card is incompatible with your device, or the sdio slot not works as it should work
no, he is talking about the built in wireless 'card' that comes with all BlueAngels?
Hi!
That´s it Midget, i´m talking about the integrated wifi module of an BA...
thanks a lot for your replies!!!
Yes, at this point, I think it´s a HW issue... I have tried EVERYTHING  !!! with no results... I even tried dissasembling the BA (as there´s no warranty for me) for seeing the HW connections and also the SD slot.
I have reminded that, before I started having the problem, (but I can´t remember if was exactly at that moment) I placed an MMC card reversed... so I wanted to check the SDIO slot.
BTW, I can´t undestand how it can be a HW problem... becouse the BA does not have any hit or misuse, and the message appeared without any apparent reason... :? Now i´m going to try any registry settings again, and freeing memory...
And also I´ve noticed that my "Down" button is not working  but I don´t know if it wasn´t workinb before the wifi issue.
Any oter ideas... ?
Thanks again!
BTW... what does it mean, if I insert "tiacxwln" in the text box, and after that the device disappears from the "network cards" list???

Hello again (after a few days out for holidays!)
Any new idea to try...?
And, another problem... after disassembling the unit... now only the half of the QWERTY keys work  I´ve broken nothing!!!!!
Puuufff.....
Thanks in advance!

Can you give me a link on web.. and also is it 802.11 b/g (both). Did u try it with the latest WM6 rom which we got for Himalaya?
maybe somebody could confirm that wifi cards that worked in wm5 works in wm6?
i mean the step from wm5 to 6 was much smaller then the step from wm2003SE to wm5

oh yeah... MUCH smaller
Well, sure, we should build a compatibility list...
it is much smaller being based on CE 5.2
wm5 being based on CE5
and wm2003se being based on CE4
Socket Com E300
I use the Socket Com E300 on WM5 Hima PH10A, with the WM2003 drivers.
SDIO is not driven the same way on WM5 the why i first install WM5 drivers and the the WM2003 drivers!
I haven't tried it yet on WM6
SPECTEC SDIO WLAN Card
I used SPECTEC
SDIO Wireless 802.11b.It's work well.

Sandisk Wifi/b Card without Memory
Hi,
My Sandisk Wifi/b Card without Memory is working after pushing the Reset.
Eject the card and reinsert it is not working you have to reset again. Is there any better driver out there? My one is from the year 2003.
Physical reset required on Socket Com E300!
I have a Socket Com E300!
I installed WM5 drivers => nothing
I installed WM2003 drivers + reset (no soft reset like with psshutXP) => OK
I think this issue is more coming from WM6, isn't it ?

Did you install any driver?
I never succeeded to make it work on my previous WM5 release so I hope it will work under WM6, not tested at all.
Thanks.
Ok i have got the Spectec 802.11b Wifi SD working perfect on WM6 just from the standard drivers you get with the CD
I tried two different types of sd-wlan cards, both works perfectly!
Spectec wlancard a/b (but the plastic was broken after a few usage)
JustMobile SDW11G it is a very fast card, i suggest you!
Both card has wm5 driver which works correctly.
I use the Spectec 802.11g SD Card. I think its model ends in 821. It's a blue SD card.
I just used the CD provided with it and it installed drivers for it on my phone perfectly. The card actually works better under WM6 then it did under WM2003SE.

It is quite simple:
No SD Wlan card ----- No WIFI.
That´s it.
Look at this:
i am installing now PDAVIET's rom does this 1 have wifi without sd card?
erm, Wifi is a Hardware, not a software issue, Get a Wifi Card (SDIO) and then you can use it, no matter what ROM You try, unlesss you have the Wifi card, you CANNOT RUN WIFI
wifi sd card thingy
i had one for wm 2003 how can i make this one capable?
himalya don't have wifi the hardware is not there
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HimalayaHardwareOverview
so if you had a win2003 rom which gave you wifi
you prob don't have a himalya device
plz anybody can search for wi-fi micro sd card...
There are no wifi micro sd cards, WIFI cards come in SDIO format which our gene supports. I dont know about their availability in India, i got mine from a friend in Kuala Lumpur as gift.
Wi-fi is working?
Hi krazy_about_technology,
so Wi-fi is working for you??
Of course its working for me But the only problem is, i need to keep my browser etc on phone mem as the card doesn't provides any storage facility.
Thnx
Thnx...for answering
does it support gene with wm 6.5 os as i have flashed my gene with my own cooked wm 6.5
