strange (it worked once, but after a hard reset not anymore
i have internet on my phone over 3G: works just fine.
however, when i try email, i get a synchronized error.
somehow the connection is broken or so.
so i want to remove this connection and add a new one, but
i dont know how to remove all connection entries, preferrably
including proxy-settings, so i can start a fresh.
does anyone know how to accomplish this?
when i add a new connection now, it does NOT show up in the drop-down for the advanced-email-account-settings to use that particular connection for email! only the old one!
thats why i want to delete all and start a new. or is there another way to get the newly added connection to appear in the dropdown list for using with with my email-account? (only vodafone GPRS is selecteable, along with internet etc)
thanks!
Go to start--settings---connections---advanced---select networks---edit---then take the stylus and hold it on the connection u want to delete...it will come up with a box with the option to delete...click delete and that should get rid of the connection...then just set up a new one...
Thats how i did mine and it worked perfectly well.
thank you m8! thats exactly what i wanted to know
great forum!

How can I make absolutely sure my phone doesn't connect to 3G/EDGE unintentionally? I don't want it to default to this when it can't connect to a specific WiFi-signal, since my calling plan has terrible rates for data transfers.

i may have the perfect solution for this....(especially if you're operator is Tmobile)
go to start>settings>connections>connections.
manage existing modem connections.
tap and hold that connection located there and delete it.
now without connecting to a wifi signal, open your browser and type a site (ex. google.com) and if that edge/3g doesn't pop up, SUCCESS!!!
hope it works and good luck.
Is there registry hack to force phone to ask user confirmation before connecting using GPRS/EDGE/3G. All normal phones has that...

I'm not recognizing the menu choices there, is this for a s730? I did try to change user name and password in GRPS settings under Start>settings>connections>GPRS, but that didn't seem to help either.
What omadon99 suggested about a registry hack would be perfect, since I don't want to permanently disable 3G/EDGE, I just don't want the phone to connect to it and cost me money without confirmation when WiFi doesn't work.
Here's my dilema not sure if others are having the same problem. I recently flashed my tilt with one of the htc roms. Since then I have not been able to check my gmail via outlook . I get an error message dialed: cannot connect for an unknown reason check your internet connection and try again . if problem presist please reset your device. This dosent occure if i'm on wi-fi. Only if i'm relying on at&t to connect via gprs...
could it be the att settings? i'm not sure, as I still use the att rom, but I am trying to gather as much info as possible before I take the leap for the first time.

I am sure it some kind of setting that got knocked off when i flashed the rom. i Because everything else works I can browse and everything. I think its my connection settings and was hoping someone else experience this similar problem and can guide me through the fix
I know what the problem is:
Follow these instructions:
Start, Settings, Connections Tab at the bottom, Connections (the Icon), Advance Tab at the bottom, then Select Network.
The first box will say programs that connect to the internet should connect using blah blah blah. Keep a mental note of what the first box says.
Go to your Gmail inbox and click on Menu, Tools, Options. Tap on the Gmail account to edit the settings. Keep hitting next until you get to the Outgoing Email server settings. Once there click on Advance Server settings at the bottom. Make sure the network connection matches the one listed in that first box I told you to keep a mental note of ok. After you make the change hit done and next to finish out. Try to send/receive. Let me know if this helps.
Thanks so much for this answer. I was wondering why my outlook had issues syncing with gmail. I thought it was the custom Rom I installed. Thanks! I hope others will find your post useful.
Hi all
My head's getting a bit sore from banging it against a brick wall while trying to sort my phone out, and I was hoping someone might be able to help me.
I did a ROM flash to Dutty's latest about 1 month ago, and all worked fine. At some point afterwards, I did *something* (possibly running the Connection Setup Wizard - don't ask!), and I lost the ability to get internet transfers over Orange (UK) - mail would just tell me it can't retrieve the messages (check the settings blah blah), and Opera just gave me a Network Error page.
Now, I've chatted with Orange lots, deleted all connection settings and played around with various settings and I'm pretty confident I have that right. On demand (i.e. starting mail or Opera), I can see the session establishment (i.e. the arrows moving over the G or 3G or H marker on the title bar), and the Data Connection indication is set in Comms Manager, but I still can't get transfers.
Note that I have since reflashed the same ROM a couple of times, and both times I have successfully had the internet working for up to about 2 or 3 days, then it goes again. When it does go, I get the Database Update Check appearing almost every time a session is established. I originally put the patch in place to stop this happening, but was worried that might be causing the networking problems so didn't since reflashing the rom this latest time.
WiFi works OK - I'm using a static IP address but I don't think this is causing a problem with GPRS/3G comms.
So, I'm thinking there might be some setting on the phone that I keep changing somehow (not intentionally) which is breaking the routing between Orange and Windows.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm losing it a bit here, as it used to work fine all the time and now it seems to just stop!
Cheers for any help
Rich
Soft Reset
Does a soft reset fix your problem?
I get this from time to time, i soft reset and all is ok again.
I also get orange safeguard on some sites every now and then even though its switched off.
Nope, once it's gone it's gone. Very strange. Still trying to figure this out, as it's driving me nuts!
Still, it's a good excuse to try out some different ROMs!

i had this a wile back and all of a sudden it just started working again
SOLUTION
If anyone's interested, I found a solution to this and I thought I'd share it.
The problem is due to an issue with 2.03 ROM as far as I can tell (I had Dutty's v4 on the phone) and static ip address on WiFi.
IF you use static ip over WiFi, then when you enter the ip address etc for the WiFi network adapter, it appears to try and use these settings on the GPRS connection too. This is why, when I spoke to Orange, as far as they were concerned everything was working OK.
So, the session establishes to Orange, then I request a page and it try's to use my DNS (192.168.1.1) to resolve the address - all goes wrong at that point. No web, no mail, nothing.
To solve, simply remove the settings from the WiFi adapter.
There may be a better solution to this, but I'm just happy I can have my phone back working again!!!

I have stock rom, PL, and I've been going over customizing my system, installing good software and in the end I got most of the free stuff at reccomended software thread even though I didn't follow it. That means your reccomendations are approved by me. Anyway...
Is there any software for windows mobile, paid or free, which installs additional connection manager/overrides default one?
I would like it to have some of those options:
-maintain different WiFi hotspots and remember their passowrds(default doesn't seem to remember the pass, it always forgets my home hotspot password...)
-ability to tell 3G etc. to cancel connection and not try to reconnect. Right now when I by mistake turn on some internet app it tries to connect, when I cancel the connecting bubble will jump out before I'm able to close the app, and it's really hard to close the app without connecting...
-being finger friendly... like most of rest of my phone now... Anyway, I can't imagine much apps to be less finger friendly than default manager so it doesn't matter that much
And basically the more options the better I've looked over net and looked trough XDA with google but I didn't find anything appropriate.
10 Button Comm Manager
Have you looked at the WM 10 Button Comm Manager by Dutty. It won't help you to remember passwords, but it has a button to turn off 3G. When you disable 3G, it won't connect to a site with 3G again until you re-enable the connection.
Well, I just tried it, but I don't really see the point. Even if I turned it off my programs would connect with Edge. I pay for the ammount of data transferred and I don't think changing to edge helps anything except for slower speed xD
Edit: I found something like that: http://www.maxprograms.pl/plik,510.html
I will try it out later, but it might, just might, do some of things I want.
hi guys, im new here, but any how to the point, i got win 6.5 on my phone, and i cant get wifi working, its connected to my router, it shows that, and i know alot about routers and everything, its setup, and my laptop connects to router and internet no probs, but this..... it wont, i went into browser connections and put it on wap and tried internet, nothing, then i tried secure wap, nothing, and then internet, nothing, and i put it on automatic, nothing, so here i am, wifi is not working on it..... i disabled HSDPA or w/e its called because im on a pay as you go plan and i dont have a data plan..... thus i'd just use wifi because its free and theres plenty of it around.....
anybody know whats up?, thanks, the phone is a samsung omnia i900
If you haven't already power cycled your phone (pop out the battery while the device is on and leave it out for about 15 seconds. If that doesn't work you could try downloading a different web browser like Skyfire or Opera mini or just back up your data and do a master reset if all else fails. If none of that works contact your provider.
You may have to hard reset or flash another rom
well i have tried soft reset, ive reset the phone, and i had another rom, that Yonn's SPB or android one, i had OCK's and that worked but that was months ago, the Yonns i remember it worked... i think, but then stopped, then i am on steff195's rom which i like so far, has a bunch of useful stuff in it.....
but i still cannot get the wireless going GRRR....... i had opera in yonns and i do remember now that i had wireless working... but then it stopped working, so im not sure whats up, i think i have wrong settings.... and also with yonns maybe it stopped working when spb was asking me for a license and i just ended up closing it off.....
bumpppppp .....
Would your web worked if you had data through your provider?
These are just a few settings you might check, i'm on a dutch WM6.5 rom so translated the options, might be a bit different on your phone.
start>settings>connections>wifi (or wlan)>advanced>energymode (or powermode)> set it to 'best performance'
start>settings>connections>connections>advanced>choose networks> make sure both options are set to 'my work network'
Hope it works out for you
well the thing is, also i mean my actual network the phone is with, being ROGERS, is not there in the choose networks and its using a "vodafone" but, that does not concern me because, i will not be using any data from them any how, like i said im pay as you go, i make calls, and thats it, and for my data aspect i want to be using the wifi, now i checked, i got a mac address, i got a ip, but i just cannot do as much even as to connect to my own router if i enter its ip in, ive tried what you guys have said, and so far to no prevail......
