Diamond built quality - couple of questions - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi All,
Couple of questions on the Diamond build quality:
1 - are the top and bottom portions of your Diamond perfectly flush with each other ? i.e. the screen and the control buttons section. Run your finger down from the top to bottom, is it flat?
2 - Does light bleed in between the top and bottom parts? Especially when the lights on the buttons are on.
Thanks!

1) yes
2) no
btw, I dropped my Diamond vertically downwards only a solid surface and there's a dent on the bottom right corner of the unit now. it's actually plastic

Is your Kaiser wobbly / sloped ?

Been very happy with the Kaiser so far, including on the GPS front ;-) but I'm getting slightly annoyed by two hardware nits :
1. wobbly : in portrait mode when I tap on the screen the right side tends to "hit" the keyboard part underneath and looking closely it's easy to understand why, there is a tiny gap between the two parts, likely for the slide/tilt mechanism
2. sloped : when I pull out the keyboard, the right side of the screen goes out more than the left side so it is slightly sloped. It improved a bit when folding the screen. Again I think this is a constraint of the slide/tilt mechanism
I'm thinking it's a general quirk because I had to change my first model (stuck key) and it had the same problems.
Anyone else noticed that ?
in portrait mode my kaiser seems to be spaced the same all the way around and doesnt push on the keyboard when tapping the screen. I do notice what you mean by the keyboard appearing to be farther out on the right side but after taking a closer look it just seems that way because of the face plate not being uniform all the way down (part where it flares out on the left side). Mine is exactly pushed out on both sides.

Mine's the same as this. It sounds like yours may not be quite right and I'd consider getting a replacement. Of course, if you can live with it, and the functionality is all there then it's entirely up to you.
For the sloping I've had two and they were both the same, so it's probably a design constraint, no biggie.
For the "wobbling", it comes and goes, I can only really feel the "knocks" when I hold the left side tight and tap on the scroll bar on the right, again, no biggie.
solution
iv had the same problem of one end sticking out,
iv gone around it by inserting some tiny smugged paper into the sliding slots at the back, resolves the issue quite well.
I don't seem to have either problem (TyTN II version).

Screen ripples effect

Hi All
I'm on my second Diamond, first was a grey import, 2nd is a UK spec model. I've noticed that when pressing the screen towards the bottom left and right that there are ripple effects on ther screen. This only happens when I use my finger, not stylus. This is similar to what you get on a TFT screen on a laptop or desktop.
Is this normal, as I can't re-collect this on my first diamond.
Thanks.
you press to strong.
i only notice this when i press with a greater force or my fingernail at the edge on the display.
I have the same ripple effect on my UK Diamond to, even when pressing gently with your fingernail it still rippled on the bottom left. The rest of the screen is fine though, doesn't matter how hard you press you don't get the ripple effect.

[Q] help needed for unresponsive touchscreen

my touch 3g became unresponsive at right lower corner of the screen. within a day, whole of screen became unresponsive
I have the same problem but fot the left part of the screen. Any ideas?
Yuppers. The digitizer's borked. Have it replaced, it costs some 12 Euro on eBay.
I had the same problem with my Jade. With a simple action it came back to life.I took a sharp knife and raised a bit the plastic upper cover on the Digitizer. It worked instantly.Perhaps a small quantity of air or humidity has entered between the Digitizer and the upper plastic cover. This was the problem of my Jade. When i looked on the screen with the light off i could see some shapes on it.If you can see them too, perhaps you're having the same problem.
any tutorial?

Screen Distortion / Ripple

Does anyone else have this problem:
When you're just pressing a bit harder than the usual touch, on the top and bottom Left side bezel, it causes the Screen to ripple (fluid wave effect).
Not even pushing down too hard, just a firmer press than usual. This is easy too see on a darker background, like the default background when the device wakes up and still in locked mode.
Yes I realize it's a LCD screen, plus this Corning glass is thinner, and we're not always pressing it that hard to notice anyway.
But the Right side bezel and other areas are mostly fine,
So I'm wondering if it's a defect on my device or not (the left side being too sensitive)? would this cause further problem in the future? And it could be a concern if I carry the Nexus 7 in the backpack and other items pressing on it.
Other reports on this:

"the display can give a little and cause the LCD to ripple if you really press hard against the screen"

I wonder if I try the Fix on the other thread, taking off the cover, but instead, loosen the screws a bit on the left side, would that help?
Thanks!
Hi,
My device has this too. Mostly on the left side & a little less on the right side but hardly any on the top or bottom.

Fingerprint sensor location in the middle of the screen or on the bottom side?

Hi everybody
I think that the fingerprint sensor should be placed in the middle of the screen.
Many of the renders we have around the web, show it at the bottom of the screen though.
With a screen as large as this, I think this would be even worse than having it on the back of the phone.
Now that they can put it in the screen itself, the most convenient and user productive place for it is somewhere in the middle of the screen.
So if anybody knows where is it situated, please share this.
I cradle the bottom of the phone with my pinky. That would position my thumb 1/3 from the bottom of the screen. Putting it in the middle would strain my hand a little.

Didn't get that... I'm only saying that when I'm holding a phone with similar size, the thumb is around the middle of the screen or a bit lower than that.
it is the bottom middle

Though I'm still hoping this is not the case...
