Does anyone know of any good SMS Message programs for our phone other than the standard crappy windows one?
I recently installed Nadavi's/dutty dialer/call logs and I love how it has shortcut touchscreen buttons to easily organize/view your dialed/missed/incoming calls.
Now I want to find a program with similar on-screen touch buttons for text messages to easily touch view your sent/inbox/drafts, etc. instead of having to press the drop down menu and selecting the proper message folder.
And yes, i have searched
uhh, no help?

Palm sms is the best one i've found. It threads the conversations, which I love.
Palm SMS Threader
for some odd reason on my tilt, the palm sms doesnt allow me 2 send or receive multimedia messages....so i dnt kno if it is the best text messaging app.
i think you guys are misunderstanding me. I already have pocket CM. I don't need to thread my conversations or anything like that.
I just want touch screen buttons to press to easily view my sent messages folder, or inbox folder, etc. instead of having to press MENU>FOLDERS>OUTBOX/DRAFTS/SENT, etc. I felt the need for it eversince I was able to have shortcut onscreen buttons for dailed/missed/incoming/all calls when I am in my call log screen.
Below is a picture of the Dutty DualTouch Dialer. If you look at the first picture of the second row, something like this where you can press a button for inbox/sent/drafts instead of dialed called/missed calls would be AWESOME.

you CAN send mms, read the thread I linked. And Palm SMS always shows sent items along w/ received. As far as big button shortcuts no, it doesn't have them.
yea nufsaid, that's why I didn't like the palm program. I think you meant to quote chimaj21 btw when you were referring to sending MMS capabilities.
as for my problem, looks like there is not really a solution to what I want.
yeah my bad.

Within the pocketcm contacts manager, you can hold an sms conversation kind of like instant messaging but the only bad part is that the pocketcm doesnt log your sent messages so you only get the received messages. When you send a message, it doesnt advise you that the message was sent so you dont know if the sms was successfully sent.
What I'm wondering is if anyone has figured out a way to have sent messages show up for the contact as well as received messages.
Thanks
Kevin

actually it does log ur sent and recieved msgs....its collor coded it all shows up on the same screen its just that sent is 1 color n recieved is another or atleast thats how it is in version 0.15...wut version are u using?
yeah with the newest version ( i believe it's had this feature in some previous ones as well) it logs your sent messages as blue. it should show up with the received messages when you click on the sms button when your in someones name. it's below the other options like home and mobile and stuff. also on the main screen (where you can scroll through the contacts) it shows the number of received messages next to the contacts name, justified to the right.

Is there a way to get pocketcm by pressing the green phone button instead of the standard dialpad?????
thanks
Also, is there a way pocketCM doesn't pop up when i get an sms because i use another program for sms and its so annoying how pocketcm pops up
This might sound like a stupid question but, have any of u guys been able to send touch tones on your wing. I mean like not through the keypad, but like a no. from the contacts list. Almost every phone has this feature. I just thought i would discover it after some days. 5 months now and zilch. Please tell me i must be overlooking some little thing.
Thanks,
I don't really understand the question.

You mean like being able to press and hold the number 2 and have it dial your girlfriend type of thing? If that's the case and you're using the HTCTouch pad, just press down while you're in the pad.

I am sorry for being so unclear. I usually use calling cards to call my home country. In order to do that i have to dial a access number, a pin number and then the long distance phone number. I had an older Nokia 6019i. In that phone
i use to have my dads phone number stored as....
xxx(calling card pin)xxx(long distance number).
I mean all those numbers i use to store in the number field of the phone book entry. Then i just use to call the access number. Select call options from the Nokia call menu. Then select "send touch tones". Search for the phone number as you would do in any phonebook. Select the number and press send. It would send all those numbers as tones.. as if i was dialing them...but much much faster.
Hope that clears it up or messes up the question even further
I found this in a quick search. May it can help you.

This new version, which is in BETA, works on Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. It is resolution aware, so it will work fine on QVGA and Landscape screens.

Seems to be a little nicer than the other one.
Hey duprade,
Thanks for all the info man. Will try both of them. Its a pity that such a feature which is natively available on lower end devices, is not there on a WM device. But thanks again, those applications will definitely fit my purpose.
Does anyone have a lead on a SIP that will do straight up old-school style text messaging? All I'm looking for is a SIP that kinda looks like:
123
456
789
*0#
All I want is to be able to hit a button, it will hold on the letter for just a moment so you can press again, or move to the next digit. No predictive t9, no having to hit superfluous buttons to actually input the word. Just real old school texting. Even a way to do this via customizing an existing SIP would suffice.

and u would want this on the wing because???
Easy - one handed texting and text input when the situation calls for it. I mean, why does M$ put in a SIP on our devices to begin with? Not like we don't have that full blown keyboard under there. I want something that I can use on the fly that doesn't require manual dexterity or practice to get use to.
There's one floating around somewhere...I had it on my Wing before I flashed the 6.1 on it...gotta see if I can find it again...it also did T9 as well..I got a email from Handango that there is a program that has two letters a key like the Pearl, or Shadow and you can text that way....costs money though
how about the touch keypad and keyboard ?
I use TouchPAL by cootek or something like that for one handed texting, and I have found it to be quite useful.
They were giving it away for free on their site .. and then they offer a pro version which has predictive text... I dunno if they are still doing that.

I tried this out; not terrible. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but not terrible. Still just want an old school dumb phone way to text on the touch screen, but this will do for now.

Hi!
I am posting here because I use a Kaiser !!
I have posted in this thread here
I am reading the threads on S2U2 to see if I can find an answer.
I lost messaging after installing S2U2 v1.00! I unistalled but when I press 'messaging' from the drop down menu or on screen, nothing happens..!
Message ( sms and email ) worked fine before installing S2U2 v1.00
Are there any registry edits that I can try..? Not sure where to look !
Any advise is much appreciated !

Same problem here. My phone also doesn't ring/vibrate any more.
btw, someone suggested storing messages on the phone instead of a memory card. I don't have a memory card and still have the problem
This happened to me twice and each time it was caused by a program install. Sadly the only remedy I was able to find was to perform a hard reset on the phone...
If you file explorer to \Windows And Find tmail.exe and excute it will it run?

are you using a 3g dialer skin for Kaiser? There is a 3g dialer skin that just kills receiving calls and text messages when I install S2U2. The name of the cab is Kaiser.3G.Dialer.cab (1.24MB), and the good 3g dialer cab is 3g_dialer.cab (2.96MB). You may have to do a hard reset, though.

No, I'm not [wasn't] using a dialer skin I am now, with dutty's rom.
I am now on to the HTC Rom. When I send a txt, the message pops up saying "message sent" but the receipient will not receive the txt!
i just installed Dutty'x WM6.1 WWE on my Tilt. works GREAT, and VERY user friendly! only have a couple of issues, the main one being that i have my contacts list and everyone is there, but when i click on a single contact to view the details, i see a blank page with only "New" and "Menu" on the screen over the soft keys. and when i am sending a text message and type a contact name into the recipient field, it should bring up a drop down list of the contacts who match the name, but it's like the font is in white. they are there, because i can select from them, and if i keep typing, the box gets smaller as the matching contacts are narrowed down. but i can't read the selections. like i said, it's as if the font is set to white. can anyone help me with these issues? i would greatly appreciate it. post a reply or send me an email to [email protected].
Thank you,
Chris
can you show us a screenshot of this?
trying to figure out how to upload image.
Hopefully this will work. i just uploaded them to my Facebook.
This is my contacts list:

}
And this is after i click on a contact to view their individual details:
i dont think that worked.
maybe this will work
this is my contacts list, which looks just fine:
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30597483&id=1028245282
but when i click on any particular contact to view their details, i just get this basically blank screen:
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30597494&id=1028245282
also, another thing i noticed last night is that my QuickGPS isn't working now. it says it cannot be opened. cert isn't signed...or one or more cmponents missing. i've heard this is a common problem with QuickGPS on HTC ROMs.
can't access the screenshots you sent...you should know that you can upload pictures and screenshots right here with in your posts on xda...
anyway, just clarify one thing...does the "white font" problem happen ONLY in landscape mode? landscape mode is usually enabled when you have the hardware keyboard slide out...
if the answer to the above question is YES, then just disable "cleartype in landscape" using "kaisertweak" or "advanced config".
yeah i saw the screenshots, and its not a white font bug you have, because both of yor soft buttons also disappeares... i'm reposting your images from FB here:
contacts in the list(1st pic) , pressed one contact (2nd pic)
do you have ANY application that customizes contacts in any way?
