Hi,
New to this forum and have a question. I recently notcied on my AT&T Tilt that the TX Rate is reported as 54Mbps but the RX Rate is reported as only 1Mbps. I thought it might be a problem due to configuration changes I had made so I reverted back to the original AT&T configuration.
I still can only get a RX Rate of 1Mbps. Now, in the AT&T configuration I see the RX Rate jump to 54 Mbps for a split second once and a while before reverting back to the 1Mbps.
Is there a way to get the RX Rate to operate at a higher bit rate?
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks,
Dear,
I found the same config with my tytn ii, with original htc rom and all new roms tested.
Maybe this is a "standard" config.
BR,
Laurent
try changing your power save settings. Granted, you're going to drain your battery very fast by doing so but it is a solution. It's under Settings->Connections->Wireless LAN
did that it did not help
i also tried my router in fixed g and fixed b mode with no different results.
I have got the same problem.
I guess it's a problem of the driver since this function working well on original firmware.
My solution is turn off the wifi for few second and try again.
Sometimes, it may work.
But if u still get the problem, you should flash your device to original rom or others' ROM.
I thought this was a cosmetic issue and the actual RX speed is the same as the TX speed? I know if I check my Wireless AP it shows my Kaiser connected at 54Mbps but doesn't show separate RX & TX rates?
Could be wrong though?

Dear all,
On TyTN II, I found something strange, either on WM6.0 and WM6.1.
When you go in Setting/Connexions/Wireless network, you can see some technical details, including Rx and Tx speed.
I have tested to improve performance in Power Setting tab, and even after a Restart of the TyTN II, no change on Rx speed : It remains at 1 Mb.
Performance is always :
Tx : 54 Mb
Rx : 1 Mb
Is there a way to increase the Rx speed ?
Thanks in advance.

Yes... At home (Freebox), at work (D-link access point).
Same results...
Any idea ?
I get the same behavior after the upgrade to WM 6.1. I believe it to be a display issue as it certainly doesn't seem any slower, but that could just be perception. Would need to run a connection benchmark to verify.
On a second look, I noticed that initially the Rx Rate tends to fluxuate between 54Mbps to 1Mbps before settling on 1Mbps. I'm still thinking its a display issue, but I'll do some ore testing today (I noticed the Rate doesn't seem to change with the signal quality).
Edit: I think I see what's going on. This probably has to deal with the power management on the phone. When the phone is idle (not receiving anything) the speed drops to 1Mbps after a period of idle time. If I ping the phone from my system, the Rx Rate immediately steps up to 54Mbps and stays there until some time after the last ping (when it drops back to 1Mbps).
So basically:
Idle (no data being received): 1Mbps
Active (data being received): 54Mbps (or whatever the best speed it can reach is).
Data receive finished: Sits at 54Mbps until a certain amount of idle time has passed, then returns to 1Mbps.

Welll... You are right.
After some testing, when data are received, Rx rate change and go back to 1Mb when flow stops !
In fact, no problem... Just a value that is adjusted in realtime
Thank you very much for your help.
Laurent.
hi everyone.this is probably my first post here and posting it directly from my x1i .anyways. i have searched the forum but couldnt find an answer for my question which would be how to increase wifi speed because i get speeds of max 0.7 mbps. today i was downloading xperio rom and got fullspeed connection with my router and download speed of 3mbps but again im down on under 1 damnit. atm im using firestorm v5.4 t/r version.
tnx guys
found a cab which would make it n draft
but the performance was still about the same as you get
think qualcomm cripple wifi to make more people use 3g heard that
iphones suffer from the same thing so it's not just qualcomm
could be.but still thats weird..tried few other roms but no difference.found one cab that changes wifi b to g but maybe some small changes in performance.what have you found? and yeah should have seen that. i went to options after seeing my connection gone mad and it was saying tx rate 54mbps rx rate 54mbps and i was like wow wtf xd.
now its back at 1 -.-
cheers
You need to change your power settings for wifi, mine always says 54Mbps.
Hey guys, hope someone can help.
Short version
Phone only connecting to home wifi with 802.11b. Very poor range and performance. How to force connection with 802.11n or g?
Longer version
I've had poor wifi performance for a long time, and was my inspiration to upgrade to CM9 just recently. I'm loving CM9, but I'm still experiencing dodgy wifi.
I've been looking at the router admin, and it shows I'm connecting with 802.11b only. Here's what the router is saying:
edit: Okay, apparently I can't post outside links to show you the wireless device connections screenshot. Here's what the router says about all the wireless devices connected, my device is at the top (hope the formatting holds up ok)
MODE - RATE - SIGNAL (%)
802.11b - 11M - 18
802.11g - 36M - 18
802.11n - 65M - 38
802.11n - 58M - 26
802.11n - 130M - 40
802.11n - 78M - 18
Mine is the only Android device in the house.
Curiously, this is AFTER I changed the router to mixed 802.11n & g (not b at all). I've searched xda and google for someone with similar problems but to no avail.
The router is a D-Link DIR-632, though I had the same wifi range and performance issues with an old router (Linksys WRG54T), hence the new one.
I've tinkered a bit with the router settings, changing the 802.11 mode and changing channels (only one neighbour with weak wifi), but no luck. I need to be literally standing next to the router to get a good signal.
Wifi Analyzer app has my connection hovering around -80 dBm
Hope someone can help! Cheers.
Did you tried connecting with your computer after changes done in wifi?

I had the same problem after first flashing cm9, but after inserting sim card, everything worked just fine.
Appreciate your help, guys.

Computer stayed connected whichever 802.11 mode was set to. I'm a but unsure how this might help solve the problem with my phone though?

To be clear, I believe I may have always had this problem, as the wifi performance is similarly poor both before and after CM9. I only identified the 802.11b as a possible cause after further investigation when CM9 didn't magically fix it.
Still, I hadn't tried removing the sim because I wouldn't have thought it was related. I have now tried it. Booted with sim out, then again with sim back in. Didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Any other ideas?
Has this problem got xda stumped? Maybe I'm asking in the wrong place?
Would appreciate any ideas. You're all so very smart (and handsome, too).
have you managed to solve?

Nope, not solved. It's doing my head in.
Anybody?
Hello guys,
I just get a new wifi error since some days. If I try to connect to my wifi network, I get an error called "authentication error".
The range is also shi**y as hell! My phone is rooted and I tried different fixes (set gEnableBmps from "1" to "0" and set ConnectivityThresholdDMB from "-87" to "-100".
But the range is still like before. The speed is also reduced a lot, when I got a weak signal.
Is there any other fix for the wifi range? And does anyone got that authentication error too?
I made 2 tests. 1
The first result was made 4-5 meter away from the router (1 Wall between router and the room)
The second result is next to the router (30cm away)
Are ya using STOCK ROM maybe? Update to latest version 12.0.A.2.245 and tell us how it work
I already got the newest firmware (245), but I had these errors on my old fw (257) too.
I say slow because they are much slower that a Galaxy S4 and Note 3. At work today we were testing out a Belkin AC router to a cable modem. Using the Speedtest.net app the galaxy's were reliably hitting 200-210 Mbs download speeds. My new One was only able to muster 95Mbs down. I come home and connect to my ASUS N66 router and I'm able to hit 104Mbs reliably. What gives? This makes no sense to me. I verified I had a 433 Mbs link when on the AC router at work, same as the Samsungs, we were all in the same location I even tried standing where they were and holding the phone differently in-case I was blocking the antenna. I never expected to be able to get 104 down at home standing one room and 30 feet for the router. Is there something weird going on with the app maybe?

In WiFi advanced settings, disable WiFi optimization - other uses stated it helped them to increase the speeds.

Thanks I read that and tried it to no avail. Speeds were better yesterday at 150Mbs and inline with a coworkers brand new ONE running 4.3. I believe it is just a matter of how HTC deals with packet size (windowing) and not truly indicative of throughput capability. The test runs for a limited time and the throughput increased throughout the entire test. If it ran longer it would climb higher but just how high is the question.
It's a matter of curiosity more than anything as I never need those speeds nor are the repeatable anywhere but in that test"lab" In reality I only have a 100M connection at home and with power boost see speeds of 150 max. I get 100+ reliably (5Ghz N network) to the phone from my main living space and that's nothing to complain about.
I will have to say the range on the ONE is outstanding. My desk is 100 feet from the AP and I was able to obtain 125Mbs reliably from my desk. I didn't have the chance to compare it to the S4 at that distance but I can't complain about that speed.
