How to disable GPRS totally? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

i was trying out the broswer via my home wifi. Haf way thru, i noted that my GPRS was also running concurrently with my wifi connection. is there ny way to diable GPRS totally as it will incurred charges.
I have disabled the auto detection of GPRS in the advance config.

Start> Settings> Connections tab>Connections> Advanced tab> Select Networks> Change both options to "My Work Network"

Thanks. Had done the above.

or you can use BandSwitch monitor... to prevent also unwanted data connection

Or you can install the "No Data" app.

the latest version of Advanced Configuration does what NoData does (disabling GPRS)

Cingular Internet via Underground WM6 rom

Can anyone get their cingular internet (edge) to work?
yea.. i did. you just have to extract the files from the Cingular EXT Rom. It includes a CAB to enable Edge and the Edge icon.
*In the attached EXT ROM, Signed_Edge_Icon is the Icon itself, and EONs is the cab that actually enables Edge. Install EONs first then the icon.
~Stefanelli~
Thank You !!!!!
Okay, I installed both like you said and it still does the same thing. When I click on IE, it says it can not connect with current connection settings. To change your settings, tap settings.
Is there a setting I still need to change? How do I access the edge icon you were talking about that.
Have you tried running this cab file?

am I supposed to do something after I install the cab file or is it supposed to work automatically?
You have to make sure that you have the correct settings in!
Go to Connections, then to advanced. Tap 'Select Networks'. Create a new connection profile, name it MEdia Net.
Then tap Modem and tap...
Create New
(name it Cingular)
Enter a name for the connection. From the "Select a modem" drop-down, select Cellular Line (GPRS).
Tap Next.
In the "Access point name" field enter wap.cingular.
Tap Next.
Verify the following profile settings, then tap Advanced:
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Domain: Blank
Verify the following settings and tap Ok.
Use server assigned IP address: Selected
Use specific IP address: Unselected
Use software compression: Unchecked
Use IP header compression: Checked
Tap Finish.
Tap Ok.
Give that a try.
Just so you know... Those settings are for Cingular users... not AT&T... so if you are AT&T tell me and I'll give you settings for that... but what you have said tells me you are Cingular. Hope I've helped.
I am cingular.
okay, when i attempt to connect to the internet, it says the answering modem has disconnected. to check your connection settings, go to settings...bla bla bla.
Is the password "CINGULAR1" was the 1 and caps typo?
no it should be caps and there should be a 1 at the end.. the settings i gave you are directly off the cingular support site.. so they should work..
-Stefanelli-
Oh good GOD, I was the one with the typo. I was typing WPA (like the encryption) instead of WAP. Thanks for the help. I'd buy you a beer if I could
If you simply run the cab that golfernutnflorida posted all those GPRS settings are there.
I'm on Cingular and I'll be damned if I had to put those settings in by hand the numerous times, sometimes daily, that I flash a new experimental ROM!
In other words, I keep that exact cab on my SC.
Exactly! The less I have to put in under a Rom Flashing, the better.

Disable 3g/gprs/hsdpa on tytn ii

I have a Tytn II on UK Orange. I intend to use the wifi intesively with my Exchange server for push email etc , but when I am not in a wifi zone I dont want it to automatically use any of 3g/gprs/hsdpa.
I may sometimes need to use them (hopefully activating 3g manually) if I am out and about.
I can disable hsdpa, but cannot find a way of disabling 3g/gprs without deleting the profiles in connection manager (which would mean I would have to create the profile again everytime I wanted to use it out of the office).
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Tom
i cant quite remember, but is there and option to do this in kaisertweak?

You gave yourself the answer.
What happens if you created another profile that is empty instead of deleting?

Hi dude
if your intend is only to not allow to any apps to automatically use your data connection but only the wi-fi try in this way:
settings -> connections (or networks, i'm not english, sorry!) -> connections -> advance -> network selection, and there put "office network" in the both options! In this way all your apps never use your provider data connection!
I don't know how to manage different profiles, as you said, however an other way to control the connections is by installing this CommManager or look this other one with the 3G button, so you can manually turn it on/off!
hope to help you!
Ciao

Just an update that the application does work on my O2 XDA Stellar. You can toggle the connections on and off as and when you require just by a single click.

just a quick question...

have any of you seen a "data" tab under phone settings? (it terminates any active internet connection when the phone goes into standby.) i had it with one of dutty's older roms but on his two newest roms that "data" tab is not there anymore. do any of you guys know a registry tweak or a program that would bring that tab back? my phone just drains the battery when its connected to the internet without me knowing (to receive email.) i have searched for it on google and all over the wiki but i haven't had any luck with how to enable it. thanks in advanced for your response.
look on the forum for modaco nodata cab
it lets you toggle the available connections

thanks for your help but i found what i was looking for i searched the registry of one on of the roms that had it active and just copy the registry name and value. here it is how to do it in case you are interested: Search for "PhoneSetting" on any registry editor and if the key "ShowPDPPage" is not there add it on as a DWord and set the value to 1. then using the Advanced Config tool scroll all the way until you see GPRS auto attach (under Data Connections) and set it to Disable, if its not disabled the connection will not disconnect even when the phone goes into standby mode.

ATT Settings.cab

I have a file called ATT Settings.cab which I got from this forum (somewhere, can't remember where). It is supposed to set the phone to ATT US connection settings. I have installed it (i.e. clicked on the cab file), but can't find where the icon is to start it (I'm expecting menu settings, etc.) Has anyone used this before and if so where do I look to run this program?
I haven't used this cab before, but I have to assume all it does is automatically enter the browser settings. Like the ones you would find here. You won't find an installed program for you to run.
it's automatically installed.
its not an application, it changes settings. some roms it may be just install the cab and your good to go, but in others such as L26 diamond you have to go settings>connections(tab)>connections(icon)>advanced(tab)> select networks> change both to mediaNet then edit>proxy settings> uncheck this network uses a proxy server...

well after you install att settings cab and follow these operations you may as well install removehiddenproxy.cab because attsettings.cab doesn't remove the hidden proxy. The hidden proxy can prevent you from downloading quickgps, htc weather updates, and a few other things.

How to hack TF3D to have 2G/3G setting appears on the setting tab?

I used it once, but I reset my machine recently and can't find the post for doing that now.
Thanks in advance.
I used the Diamond Advanced Config program from this forum
Under Menu, more settings, comm manager
I find my signal is improved with 3g turned off
