TMC support with Diamond? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello!
Since the Diamonds built in radio supports RDS, our beloved toy should also be able to recieve the TMC signals which are a part of RDS.
Can anybody confirm this?
I thought of purchasing TomTom but but after hearing that Navigon is still the only popular system with TMC support I am hesitating.
So:
Does TMC support work with the Diamond and Navigon?
Or does it maybe even work with the latest TomTom 7 release? *hope*

I can't believe someone starts yet a new thread with this question!
Lamarque, nothing personal and welcome to the forum ... but please - use SEARCH

I did search for "TMC" in the Diamonds forums.
Got 0 results.
Can you enligthen me with a link, please?
nvm: I guess this is what you meant?

You can also try this:

BTW, I have a feeling Search doesn't work with 3 letters words.

It's not a feeling...it's a fact...

Teaching ATT Tilt to get TMC traffic updates - what are my options?

Hey guys,
I've been using iGo 2006 Plus on my ATT Tilt and now I'm wondering what are my options to get TMC updates for the GPS?
I read that you gotta have a certain antenna for that and whatever else.... however, I have unlimited HSDPA connection on it and I'm curious if its possible to get TMC through it and feed it to the GPS software.
Was anybody sucessfull at that and if so, what did you use?

TMC is only available through a GPS application that has subscription to the service.
As yet, there is no 'stand-alone' TMC reciever' for the 'Kaiser', you will only get TMC traffic reports as a data download via GPRS/EMSD/3G connection within a GPS application such as TomTom or Garmin XT while you are using that application.
So TomTom does have TMC through GPRS, but iGo doesn't?

Can't really confirm that cause I have not used iGo but TMC for any app on the 'Kaiser' at this time needs an active data connection, whereas a dedicated GPS device like the Garmin Nuvi has an 'add-on' FM receiver for this function.
Use Live Search. It's pretty accurate when it comes to traffic, and you can use teh GPS, as well getting directions and others. I love it. And use it daily.

Well, since I do have unilimited data, and I don't want any extra thingies to haul around with my Kaiser... I guess I'll give tomtom a try
Can't really push this, but look in the 'Trash' forum..... for Garmin XT.

Hmm that might be a good idea.. Does it have all the nifty stuff like POI DB, import from contacts, voice guidance?

You won't know until you look!! But forget it if you don't....
One thing you have to remember is this forum is 'Worldwide'! TMC is only good for US/Europe so take that into account..
Yeah I know. I've checked the list of supported countries - US is in it.. So it should work.
So Live Search GPS.. is it free?

As far as I know, Live search only uses your GPRS/3G connection so if you have a data package then (yes/no) you are already paying for it!!
Someone using Livesearch jump in here!!
Hmm... downloaded Live Search, it runs.. but there's no maps, just a GPS's arrow in a middle of nowhere hehe.. Gotta check their support forums.

Haha, sure its not night time there??
Well that's the beauty of forums =)
I figures it out, I've made a separate post in case someone else has this problem..
Live Search is cool, however it doesn't have good turn-by-turn navigation and no voice guidance. And I'm not sure if it truly creates a route with traffic in mind.. Or just shows traffic info..
I'll try TomTom and see what it does.. so far screenshots of it look pretty bad, actually... iGo looks a whole lot better.. but TMC is worth the sacrifice for me.
I am afraid I don't find a 'trash' forum, am I missing something?

HTCS730 with GPS Navigon MN6.5

Hy Guys,
I used a GPS Software for Smartphone name NAVIGON Mob. Nav. 6.5 on my HTC S620 => it works without problems
This GPS Software is ok with HTC S710 but not yet with S730 (as this device is brand new)..
I've tryed the combination (HTCS730 - MN 6.5) : it works for fast research (proximities like gas pump or restaurant) but its goes down with classical researchs (too long) => the program stop !
My problem is with memory on this device HTC S730
I've maximum 17 000 to 18 000 Kb free at the best moments.. and I've installed no other software..
I've done a advanced test of my RAM thats shows that some files (hidden files) took much memory.. (like video telephony, listening ports) but I don't want to use it.. (I would prefer to hide them in order to make my GPS soft work )
So who can tell me how to dismantle some WM6 files/process in order to win some KB for my GPS ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Jeff from Belgium
HTC S730

Hi,
Someone could tell me if the "IQ Routes" functionality is present in tomtom 7 for PDA?
Thanks a lot

For TT7 on the Diamond - this is a grey area. Some operators are giving TT7 away on the Diamond but without maps. You still need to buy the maps from TomTom. Better for TomTom to get *some* money off you than none at all because you had to go to a competitor.

I don't encourage the warez, I just ask information about a product that is installed in certain countries on the diamond. Those who have, have been quite legally.
Someone would have an answer to my question?

Man, i know that TT7 is sold with the HTC Touch diamond somewhere but if pammoun is asking for settings then surely it's not the bundled version (because that come already settled up with internal GPS)
not necessarily that default settings are always the best. at least this is my experience with TT6 and TT7 on HTC devices.
I found that _universal_ settings for TT6 and TT7 for HTC devices are:
Other NMEA GPS
COM4
1200 bps wheter available. some devices will offer 2400 bpps only. but 1200 is still gives better results.
tested these setting to be the most suitable for Artemis, Trinity, TyTNII, Pharos, Diamond. both TT6 and TT7 (Diamond).
Hi SecureGSM,
If you used tomtom 7 on PDA, can you answer me about "Iq Road"?
thank you
@zeldomar.
no IQ routes, no lane guidence on 6.x and 7.x maps. TT7 does not support maps 8.x.
as far as navigation experience goes, TT7 is great step forward. Big success, me think.
I thought the 6.75 Maps were the latest version for Navigator?
official support:
6.x maps: version 6.75
7.x maps: any version
8.x maps: no support
I use:
other gps nemea
9600
com4
working well
ps: same settings of previous tt6

That's correct, but you also need to go to settings/system/external GPS and
set first tab to com2 and second tab to com4 or vv. In my case select com2 rather than com 4.
This works for TomTom7, IGO8 and Navigator7.

See reply #14.
How can posting about TomTom 7 be Warez. Now if you linked up the maps which is what you license for then yes it would be Warez at it would need a map to work.
You can ask TomTom themslves for the executable and they will give you a link to download it from.
I've heard it all now , so if I was to say "Copilot" now in this thread would that be Warez too... jeez Its in the Tytn forum and the general !!!!!!!

Review for GPS software on Fuze/TP

Hello everyone. I've searched through the forums, and have found nothing of this sort. (Please scroll down and see the question I have asked if you want to skip all this bull crap and intro)
What I'm planning to do is write a review of all the GPS software available for the Fuze/TP and compare its performance to each other and to that of a dedicated Magellan GPS.
This will give people an idea of what GPS software for their phone to buy (if any) if they do wish to have one
I'm going to write this review on a the Fuze flashed with a ROM (I will let you know which ROM later) and I will make sure that this doesn't have any GPS tweaks. So it is whatever you get from a Fuze flashed with a ROM.
Topics that will be covered:
-Ease of use
-Accuracy and precision of pin pointing the location on the map
-Lag time
-Direction giving
-And many others.
Question for you guys: Other than TomTom Navigator, which other mobile GPS software are available? I know there is a Garmin and a Magellan, but I don't know the name/latest version. I have the TomTom and I have enough information to write a review on it. I just need more GPSes
thanks
There is AmazeGPS, GarminXT, ALK CoPilot Live 7 (beta), Destinator 6, Route 66, iGuidance, OnCourse Navigator 6.0, Pharos Ostia.
The only ones I have used on my fuze though are Route 66 & TomTom.

FM Radio - doesn't work on @thunder141 Ultra ROM

Hi,
I have got above ROM (6.5.3.12_29007), Ultra version, and i can not "make FM Radio work":/
I have been trying lot of Cabs found on the net, the most "possible" was the one from here, but this one causes the same issue:/
I get, an error message, in which i can read that app:
- is not signed, or something is missing...
Have anyone any thought how could i fix it?
FIXED
Problem Fixed with:
windows.modaco.com/topic/320975-cabswwe-samsung-jc2-cabs/
the ONLY working FM Radio APP:/
HyperGPS B7610
my post don´t really fit in this thread, but maybe searchable for those with interest
Thanks to beemer
Device: Samsung Omnia pro B7610, WM6.5.
HyperGPS Work excellent with igo8.
HyperGPS don´t work with Navigon MN74.
My TrafficLive abo with NAVIGIN run out. No extension available. I think they want to get rid of WM.
So this tool is very helpful for me.
Start via HGPS_Switch.exe works fine.
best regards
Bernd
