Okay. I completed the following steps on my new Cingular 8125
1. Used Loki .2b to do CID and unlock - Don;t have another SIM to test but seemed to work
2. INstalled Cingular_RUU_Wizard_AKU2.3_Custom_RNG_THM_A2DP_TEST
3. Installed the 2.25 radio from kypher (sp) update.
Everything seems to work great and response times seem stellar so far but I do have a few questions...
A. When I go into Remove programs I see the following programs
FdcSoft PPC ContactsMgr
ammar Wireless Today Plugin
Summ Summ
What are these, what are they for and can they be deleted since I don't seem to find matching entries in programs for them?
B. Under Programs there are three called Clock200 240 and 252. I am guessing these are overclockers but clicking on them does not seem to do anything. How do these work?
C. Should I delete the cab file I x-fered over for the Loki unlock?
D. While some of the sound files that came on the ROM are cool, I would like to get rid of most of them. How do I do this?
General questions
Is there a profiles setting where for example I can choose a sleep profile so that the phone rings but e-mails don't do anything or is this a 3rd party app deal?
Has anyone ever had issues with having two different IP addresses for your exchange server? It seems that when I put in the IP address into Active Sync that I use to get Outlook Web my phone connects fine when out and around but when using USB errors out. If I put in the exchange server name my IT guy gave me I get the opposite. He is kind of helpless and clueless so any help here owuld be greatly appreciated.
I can help a little, The wireless today plugin is the one that appears on the today screen showing wifi on off and bluetooth on and off. The clocks are overclockers and they dont show anything happening but it does overclock your phone. Sorry I can answer the rest but hopefully what I have said helps some.
Hey every bit helps, thanks!

FdcSoft PPC ContactMgr is a replacement on the contacts of the phone - less buggy than the stock one, and no - don't remove it.
Summ Summ - is the alternative task manager that you see in programs. If you wish, delete that one. Personally I like it, because when you close it, it actually closes.

They are overclockers, and yes they do work, but generally there's an omap that you run in conjunction with other programs. There's an omap.exe file that you can re-do on shortcuts that will have a manual clock setting on simply just the program itself, but I'd find the thread that discusses omap overclocking.

Not sure you can delete some of them, because they're taking up ROM space, but not other memory. Check windows\ringers and see if they're in there and deletable.

Can't really say I can help with this one, but from my experience with the phone, there's nothing in it that has different profiles other than just ring, vibrate, and sleep. Try looking for some third party aps.

THanks a bunch Brian....
I have noticed a few things.. I seem to be getting the error where the time zone drifts. In my case it tries to put me in Indiana. Was there an easy/common fix for this.
Also, it seems to not hold a wifi signal very well anymore. Is this the problem you were experiencing. I installed Wififofum2 but did not get much time to play with it, but in the time I did could not get it to pick up a network at all.
I'm having wifi issues as well with a belkin pre-n, and my srx router doesn't hold its session and ip info.
The fix has been that summiter release a test2 rom, which I'm about to flash my unit with. There is also discussion of trying to get a seperate thread on radio roms which i believe deals with wifi as well, and you don't have to re-flash your entire os just to get a new radio rom.
Also, here are the images you may be interested in:

no problem man. as I type this message from the fresh test2 rom that summiter updated the gsm radio with, I'm finding that it is staying connected to my srx, and on the middle performance setting. what I am also noticing is my reception here in my room, dear god, I use to get to bars being lucky, but now man, jesus, full bars, its amazing. I do notice the reception does jump up and down a lot more but that's fine with me. overall the radio version in test2 seems to rock my sox. we'll see if it holds out for this really long post.
well scratch that on the wifi problem, had to reconnect to my router again... ugh, but better reception for cellular!

I will have to disagree with that. The PPCContactMgr caused scrolling problems with my contacts, and I wasn't the only one this happened to. For example, if you hold down the D-Pad in while in contacts, it scrolls the the alphabet in very large letters allowing you to stop easily at a certain letter. This program screwed that up for me. It worked OK if I just scrolled through a few letters, like to "D", but if I scrolled all the way to "T" for example, then selected a name, it would throw me back at a random name much earlier in the list.
Removing this program fixed the problem.
The only thing this program really gives you is the ability to "select all contacts", if you wanted to delete them. It's not worth the problems. I'd remove it.
Is IE unusable on the kaiser with the bug i hear about? I usually use the joypad for scrolling down, is it still the same?
Compared to the Hermes, how fast is the Kaiser at building pages up? On any big pages (eg. ebay) the Hermes really grinds to a snails pace and even when you think it's finished if you scroll down it's still (slowly) inserting images. Sometimes it can take nearly 60secs to finish showing an eBay page.
cheers, John
Which bug?
I use PIE with PIEPlus 2.2 and it works fine.
It is slow though, compared to my old Magician WM2003SE But thats obvious (WM2003SE is not flash based OS, no persistent-memory, thats why faster).
I am waiting Opera Mobile 9, which I am not sure will ever be released!
Duke Nukem Forever
I don't notice any difference with the Hermes. What bug are you talking about exactly?
By the by: opera mini beta 4 runs great on the Kaiser.

Yes it works, but the scrolling gets laggy once you have scrolled down a bit. The page download times are probably on a par with the TyTn. The Touchflo finger scrolling works better (once you get the hang of it).
Opera Mini works faster and scrolls OK.
Mike
Im not having any issues with PIE in general and I'm already getting used to the scroll feature. In fact I picked up my Trinity today and found it annoying when I had to use those fiddly scroll bars.
I wonder how it compares to the experience on the new iPod Touch?
I heard from a friend that the browsing experience on that was very intuitive - but then he is an apple nerd!
My bigger issue with the Tytn II is still the radio used. I am having real problems with the gprs/3G switch and both phone and internet connection have major problems coping when I am in 1 or 2 bars of 3G.
And I am still rarely getting a full 3G signal which was not the probelm with the later radios I have on my Tytn and Trinity.
I will try my Vodafone SIM tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

this is the bug i was talking/hearing about.
With the extra power and extra chips I was hoping the page building issue would have truly gone, it's my biggest gripe with my Hermes. My other gripe was the poor video playback on my Hermes (which has improved thanks to many WM6 roms), I hear this hasn't improved much either. I think I'll wait until a new ROM or a new device...
Touchflo doesnt work with my installation of Opera Mobile (8.60). Would have thought there would be 20 million threads on it by now so am thinking its just me with the issue.
Is touchflo something that has to be written into third party software of should it would with anything?
Opera Mini is the Java version correct?
New ROM will not fix that because it will be still the same IE.
IE is just slow, that's all.
Try Opera Mini and enjoy the super fast browsing experience.
You will never look back to IE, trust me.

Yes, Opera Mini is a Java application.
But it is running fine and superb.
Here what I got it installed in my device:
1. Install JBED-JAVA_MIDLET_MANAGER.2007.08.02.2.1
Get it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=49222&d=1188897204
2. Use IE and browse to mini.opera.com/beta
And follow the instruction to install it.
Note: Choose "High memory" version.
You are done.
Now, read this article below :
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-...ed-includes-info-new-java-midlet-manager.html
You will be able to:
1. Make a shortcut to the "Programs" folder
Then using the "Settings->Button" you can change the IE softkey to execute this shortcut.
2. Get rid of the network security warning.
That's it

All thats left is for it to be set as the default browser and take links from emails.
Cheers for that buddy.
The shortcut part just doesn't work for me. I use Esmertec and my shortcut based on what I see in the appsdb folder is
#30"\windows\jeodek.exe" -run s3_
Whatever I do it gives me the message - Could not find MIDlet suite s3_
The file in appsdb is s3_suite.jar. Even still, I tried from number s0_ to s3_ to no avail.
Hope somebody can help.

Also the change in the selector file has my OperaMini still asking for permission. Any suggestions????

Guys, I'm still getting the permission warnings as some other Opera 4 users are describing. I have done everything in this post including the selector.utf file. Has anyone figured out what might be causing this?

i could only get it to work witn Cloudyfa's JBed, not with the default JMM.
I finally got it to work with Cloudyfa's JBed. For some reason, JBed wasn't installed properly. It wasn't showing up and Remove Programs. I reinstalled it, reinstalled Opera, applied the shortcut/network warning fix, and all is working perfectly.
For other people having this problem, make sure JBed is showing up in the Programs list and in Remove Programs before you install Opera. Seemed to do the trick.
I will be doing all of this tonight, Thanks for the tips.
Same here, I too get the error message could not find suite s0_. The number is correct, but i noticed i dont have any .jar files in the appdb folder... Any ideas?
I also didn't have any .jar files in my appdb folder. I did see some files with s2_ extensions (eg. s2_.jah and _s2.obj) so I changed my suite link to s2_ and it worked. Once I got the link to work, I then copied the selector.utf file from appdb to my PC and ran the Fix.exe editor on it and copied it back to the Kaiser. Works perfectly with no more permission dialog, thanks so much for sharing!
My squence;
1-Install Jbed
2-Install Opera Mini and test to verify it works.
3-Create link in programs folder and test
4-Copy off selector.utf and "fix", copy back and it should all be good, with no more permissions required.
5-Map the program link to a hard key.
6-Crack a cold beverage of choice, life is good
In my old nokia 7710 i had a little app that would kill\end processes even system process.
But it also had a nice memory compressor which did make a 10meg compress on average.
Any ideas?

Great find! I just tried it then and yes at least 10MB extra freed up...
So, is just the dial pad that changes? I admit it does look better with phone skin on, but 10MB saving is enormous. How can that little dial pad possibly consume 10MB. What is going on there..?

Hmm.. Yeah its a little more than the keypad that's missing. When people call you, you get the old interface that's like a message balloon pop-up, rather than the nice screen that we're all used to. Also when you dial out, the contact picture is tiny and overall it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the 'skin'... I think I will switch it back on! Once the memory leak is fixed I think I can afford the 10MB
Hi
I made this little CAB to install the registry tweaks that prevent your screen from blanking. I can confirm that on my Orange Diamond, using Bepe's .97 this actually works, whereas using Advanced Config didn't solve the issue.
The CAB file is uninstallable should you wish to remove it.
Thanks,

Actually i found that using DT didn't work either, and I also find it more convenient to apply the registry changes with a cab file, rather than having to install an app I don't use and then make a load of clicks.
If you prefer to do it using a tweaking app then this cab isn't for you. The only reason I posted it is because I use it myself.

Well actually it's been very easy to achieve by taking registry snapshots, and then using diff on a linux box to find the changes, then import them into a cab file.
So thanks for wishing me luck but it's not required.
Sarcasm breeds sarcasm and frankly i'm slightly ammused that on a forum designed to help users share tips and software, a simple CAB i use after new ROM flashes has created such a hostile response.
I'm not attempting to replace or belittle your tool monte, it's certainly streets ahead of what i can do at the moment, however as bepe's ROM lets me run cabs at build this way is nice and easy for me to ensure that if I need to do a hard reset I can reinstate my registry tweaks during the reset without having to install any additional software.

It's not that bad, it just annoys me when I'm phoning numbers where you have a number menu system to get through.
It's strange that it's something no other WM phones I've used have done, yet theres no menu option to disable it.

This CAB file is flawed, because it causes unnecessary battery drain.
It's wrong to make the screen never go to sleep during a phone call.
If you'll think about it for a moment, during a call we never really need the screen to be active for more than 1 minute or so, from the last time we touched it. If you are calling a digital voice machine (either your voicemail or anything), 99.999% of the time it won't take more than 1 minute between key presses.
The ideal tweak should just make the screen behave like when you're not in a call, meaning the screen reduces brightness after ~30 seconds, and shuts down after ~1 minute. In order to be 100% on the safe side, you could make it shut down after 2 minutes from last key press. BUT, making it never go to sleep is simply a waste of battery if you're doing for example a 30 minutes conversation.
center button and screen back on
My preference is to have the screen come on, see who it is, then allow it to go blank. If you need it to come back on, i just push the center of the scroll, enter button or whatever its called, and the screen comes back on. (at least it does on mine) . I like it that the screen blanks so it will save battery.
But i dont think we should discourage anyone from making any kind of cab if they desire.

Still, it is unnoying to press that damn key every 5 seconds. The screen should shut down after 1-2 minutes, but NOT never.

Thats abosolute BS. It is NOT flawed. If you dont want your screen to stay on just - dont use the CAB. I think most users around here are smart enought to know that keeping the screen on during a call takes a battery hit. If they use the CAB as I intend to they are willing to accept this.
Hi, I am just thinking, old HTC Universal (VGA), has smoother icon redraw than brand new HTC Diamond. So, where is the problem? WM 6.1 are not slower than WM 5.0, both devices has VGA screen. Universal should not be faster, since Diamond CPU has same frequency but is brand new.
You're right, your thought is really random... Which icons, where, when, how? Is there a video comparing the two? How do you expect us to understand what your problem is without giving any info?
Ever heard of Glyph cache?
Oh, first, I am sorry, I should give more info, now I know it, but i thought, that icon redraw speed is just icon redraw speed, no matter where. But if you want it, so: I mean system icons like media player, games folder etc. for example in programs directory, but not just this. Even some icons in some programs, it is like I said - icon redrow speed, anywhere in whole system. And for tnyynt: Yes, i heard about Glyphcache, in fact I have doubled this cache in first week of playing with Diamond.
if you mean redrawing hole screen full of icons you re right...my asus P525 with WM5 was so much faster, slide inside programs menu isnt so smooth as well...I dont understand where is problem because the same situation in settings menu is 100% smooth without problems so why???

Could you check one thing for me? Create the situation when icons appear slow (maybe go to programs folder, you know better where exactly you are experiencing this). let the page fully load, scroll down so that all icons load, then close the folder and then reopen it. If this second time it is instant, then it's a glyph cache issue => needs higher value.
I understand you and its better i know it but as redrawing is better I never obtain smooth slideing as in settings folder and glyphcache is set to recommended 32kb... but I want to know why this never ever happened in settings menu...with using device memory is fulling that is normal for windows but performance isnt so better as should be so I think is the matter of bad written OS in this case...

If it makes you feel better, settings scrolling is better than program scrolling on my other devices too (Elf, Polaris, Trinity). It must be an OS issue.
What I did to overcome this was to restructure my programs into categories and set 4 icons/row settings, that way I never get the chance to scroll, and they appear instantly, so no icon lag.
