Help me get my wife a real phone

Hi,
My wife's LG Shine is getting awfully long in the tooth and I seriously want to upgrade her to a WM phone with GPS, WiFi, etc. (I'm a touch hd owner-LOVE IT). THe problem is that she doesn't like the plain, brick-like form factor of my HD. She wants something that looks cool and is appropriate for a business woman (she own her own consulting biz in China). Can anyone help me out with recommendations? The plane black candy bar is out, what else is there in a full featured phone?? Price is not a concern when it comes to my better half ;-)

The Touch Diamond2 might look good on her...

I think she will love the Touch PRO 2 if she prefers having a keyboard, the HTC Advantage X7510 is too big for first time owners.
Don't go for the Sony X-peria, it has casing manufacturers defect.

Get her an iPhone, my wife loves hers. And it is a real womens phone. It has everything that appeals to someone that is not serious about their phone. It is a serious piece of fluff and my wife loves it.
Best part is, you can play with it , and you don't have to admit that you own an iPhone.

LOL!!! I have to admit I've snuck into an apple store once or twice to solidly molest the iPhone for a while... I'd never use one myself for all the obvious reasons but it was dirty and kind of exciting to fiddle with it

The looks of it are not a good reason for buying it.
Remember your X1 xperiance with the original Sony ROM??
Furthermore, the X2 will not be build by HTC, so don't expect support for it on XDA.

Oh right... I love my X1... but I have to see the positive things about this "X2"..
- the keyboard looks mmhhh... eerhh... nice.. looks like it will be easier to type.. (let's face it.. it's nice to type in the X1 with its sexy keyboard.. but it could be better).
- Is there a D-Pad?? (with buttons?) I can only see Optical mouse.. for me.. it's better with physical buttons (because of games).
-Looks like it will have a bigger screen... but.. I really love the small size of the X1.. a bigger screen means a bigger phone..
- Design... well.. X2 doesn´t look bad (c'mon)... but the X1 looks even better..
-Will the screen tilt?? (for me it's really not necesary to tilt the screen).

the only thing i can't wait on this phone is the ROM

I highly doubt this mate. One phone will not kill off a company of their size, lets be realistic. Im sure it will be a lot better than the X1, just wait a bit longer and stop moaning.

Well someone contacted me, if that deal doesn't go ok, I will order from this website.
MY screen foil has two dimps, so I'm sending my device for repair.

Htc hd2 front camera

Did anyone ever think about installing/making this possible? Like with a spare Evo front camera or something? Just a thought. I'm not even sure if it's possible. But if it was I would be interested.

LOL: it would be impossible since no hardware support for front cam, the sensor on top left is a photo sensor which is used for Brightness adjustment and proximity measurement

I have 2 phone's with front cam and i think i have used them twice.
When do you need a front cam ?

No. i do not use it, and i do not miss it on the HTC HD2

I know about the proximity sensor and stuff. And I do video chat. And couldn't someone make software to run it. It would be interesting. Maybe put it on the right side...

now that skype supports video call. Front camera on skype would be a dream for me on hd2

So where are you going to solder that camera to if you manage to drill the plastic part of the center frame? I don't see any room on the motherboard...

in fact there has a most simple (and cheapest ) way to get a "front cam function" with your HD2, all you need to do is to find a small vanity mirror like this:

then open it in 90° angle and put this mirror behind of your hd2, in front of camera. now you can launch your camera app and adjust the mirror to the best position to show your face in app.

it's so easy! isn't it? the only bug is your face is inverse in app (if you are graduated from school you should know why), but who care! video talk is just for fun for most people! so you want it, you get it!
PS: you still need use a app which support not just front cam but also main cam, to do this. it's the only limitation my dud.

The whole idea is for sale for manufacturing. If this happens I'm gonna get my hands on one of these.

Well, I guess in a glance the specs are kinda similar, though the sgs2 has twice the ram and internal, better front and main camera(quality, though might be software) also exynos and super amoled seems to make for much better battery life.
Anyone know why NFC is optional in SGS2? Are there two different versions?

It looks so good.
You can now get a white digitizer from ebay for 60 backs.
I bet in the next few days we will be able to get the battery cover aswell. So actually u can turn ur 2x into white for like 80 backs : )

God this trend about the color white. It's not just for phones, cars to even coffee mugs are supposedly cooler when it's clad in white color. RIM releases the black(irony) blackberries first because people(men and women) would prefer the white ones. Some people even go so far as to trade-'up' to a white one of the same model. And where I live they're good $20 more expensive too, of course you'll spend quite a bit more trading up to a new phone. But that doesn't seem to be a problem for a lot of people.
This is a trend, white is the new black, next couple years it will be the other way around.
