I have a friend that has a tilt and someone supposedly upgraded her firmware. This did not delete all of her files but it did wipe out her email settings. She created a new email account with the same settings but in her today screen it shows two email accounts. The new one which functions perfectly when new email comes in the indicator shows and when you check all mail the indicator leaves.
Then theres the second one, which existed before the firmware update. It just shows 1 unread message constantly. If you select it, it just take you to the main messaging screen. Is there anyway to remove this via the registry a specific folder so this ghost email account does not show up with doing a hard reset.

Tell her to go to the messaging app and check the system folder. It has an inbox also. I got that when I installed BBC and removed and reinstalled about 10 times before I actually found out what it was.

I have also the system folder for BBC. Since a few days it shows 1 unreal mail which I can't delete. Do you know where I can delete this ghost mail?

My Tilt automatically deletes emails on its own. After hitting send and receive it gets the new emails and then the old one get removed and the are not in the deleted items folder. Please help.
It does not delete the emails but does not show them anymore, they're still available. Don't know if this is a setting or default.
I am new here sorry. So where do the emails go. I called ATT and spoke to HTC as well they said device was defective. This is my second device this week and it still does the same. ATT, HTC says they never heard anything like that before.
It's not defective. It's a setting. If you use mail from an external ISP you do the setup of your account. In outlook on PC (I presume you use that) there is a setting to keep a copy on the server. If that is not flagged, you send and receive mail on your device, but as soon as you do send and receive on your desktop it clears the files from the server and puts them on your PC. If you then again do a send and receive the mails are gone from the server and automatically removed from your device.
EDIT: Why not using exchange instead. Then you don't have this issue at all.
Yeah, it has to do with over how many days you want to download emails to your device. The default is typically 3 days, at least on mine, so if an email is older than 3 days it will be removed from the phone. It will still be on the main server though, unless you manually delete it from the phone in which case the aforementioned setting to keep a copy on the server is selected. So, in other words, if you are downloading Gmail, for example, if you log in to the Gmail website your email will be there, just not on your phone if it's older than 3 days. Obviously, changing that cutoff date will add or remove more emails. BTW, you change that by opening Messaging, go to Menu > Options, and pick the account you would like to change. Then go thru the wizard, and when you get to the panel that says "Download Messages", change the setting in that panel.

Did you checked your e-mails with your pc as well? Your PC downloads the from the server, your tytn show them only.
so if you connect after you've been busy on your desktop, their gone and can be found on your desktoppc

not really, just increase the download time in the email settings, but none will stay permanently. (Unless there's a keep all emails option, I don't remember ATM and the girlfriend has my phone). It's a memory saving function.
Enter the messaging screen, tap 'Menu' then 'Tools' then 'Options'. Next, tap on the 'Storage' tab at the bottom, you will then see a dropdown menu for 'Empty Deleted items'. Select 'Manually' and your problems will be solved.

It is not working on Kaiser. Is there any solution for keep emails on pocket outlook when they gone from inbox on sever?
The one solution what i know is move email to the other folder ('draft' or created one) beacuse mails are deleting automaticly only from inbox folder in pocket outlook when it can't be find exacly the same copy on server.

This is not SOLVED
Here si the fix on the HTC and disappearing emails
1 start/message/click email account/menu/tools/options/tap email account/edit account setup/next/next/next/next/next/download message 3 pls days/advance setting/keep them on server/next/ finish
Do this for all accounts
Now go to your computer and outlook tools/email accounts/view or change email account/next/change/ more settings/advanced/leave copy on server/ how many days is up to you
You must do this for all you accounts on that computer. then do the same to all the computer you use to get the same e-mails.
I am actually having the same issue as the person that started this thread. It only started 2day. Ive had my phone for over a year and it was with WM 6.0 and my gmail on the phone was working fine....if i pressed send recieve it got my emails....i left them in the inbox and when i pressed send recieve again 30 mins later for an example my old emails still stayed while the new ones came in. Now i upgraded my phone to WM 6.1 last night and now when i press send recieve to get my gmail the older emails automatically erase/disappear from my phone. Anyone understand why? And yes its still on my regular gmail account...it doesnt disappear from there!

Im running wm6.1 on my kaiser. As we all know on the htc today screen, theres the 3 buttons below the clock... email, text, and missed calls.
i get a txt, the middle icon shows ive got 1 message. i click that, opens up my sms/mms inbox... read txt etc... close screen.
i then get an email, the left icon shows ive got 1 message. i click that, but for some unknown reason, it loads up the sms/mms inbox. I have to then switch to my email account using the drop down menu.
This never used to happen, but it does it all the time now...
Also, i created a "new account" using my gmail address, instead of using the "outlook E-mail" account... could this be causing the problem? i dont want to have to flash my ROM again, but id like to get this all working properly.
Finally, i just downloaded Slithers CUBE (SCLPC w/FTouchFLO)... and i cannot find where i need to link the email button to in the config. yes, i am a noob, but id still v much appreciate any kind of help with this matter.

I believe that the Email Icon is linked to the outlook account specifically and not to a user created account (Like Gmail). If it does not find a valid outlook account then it may open up the last accessed account (E.g SMS/MMS).

i've just created/edited the outlook account so that its got all the details etc from my gmail address... but for some reason, it comes up saying error syncronising...

While you are inside the "Message" application (I do not know the correct English word as I'm using a Norwegian version of WM), you can use the left/right button to switch between SMS/MMS, Outlook and other additional e-mail accounts.

I can see what you mean, but my issue is more that it should simply load straight into the email account. And now that ive deleted the account i created, it does just that - loads straight into the outlook account.
However, i keep getting the "error syncing" message whenever i try to download my gmail email.

My intention was just to give you an easier method for switching between your accounts, as this method should be more user-friendly than using drop-down menus

Try this:
1) Download and run KaiserTweak
2) Find the 'HTC Application' branch.
3) Change the 'HTC Home e-mail button' to 'Open default Mailbox (Advised)'
I've had this same problem in the past. Essentially when you push the e-mail button and it's not working correctly it will open up the messaging app wherever it already is. So if you have SMS open (but minimised/off screen), then pushing the e-mail button will simply open it there.

Im afraid i've been one step ahead... kaisertweak was one of the first things i downloaded... originally, i did have the problem with it loading up the "choose accounts" messaging thing, and i changed that using the kaisertweak settings...
but im afraid, one day on, that i still cant download my email using the outlook account i searched lots yesterday, and found that people either used activesync to jumpstart the emails, or that it just randomly worked the next day. But ive tried both, and both have failed
please, someone, help me get my mail...

i was fed up of not having emails, so ive remade a new email account and i just have to switch...
tho i am looking into ways of remapping the softkeys so that one is assigned directly to going into your email inbox, and the other to start a new sms... two vital functions that dont seem to exsist on the kaiser

I'm having an issue with TF3D's email tab - it's displaying that I have an unread email in my Inbox where in reality I have no unread emails!
I have tried to remove all of my Email accounts, disabled TF3D, soft-reset, then re-enabled TF3D... It's still displaying 1 unread email!
This has occurred with a few ROMs - Dutty's DPT ROM v2, Walshieau's Elite 3.0 and the Stock 1.93.xxx.x.
If anyone knows how to fix this, could u pls let me know. I don't want to flash to another ROM because my current ROM is perfectly fine apart from this one bug. TIA!
Have you tried deleting the email account with the ghost email, and setting it up again? A bit less work and less drastic than a reflash.
All the new ROMs automatically create a "Windows Tips and Tricks" email when you create a new account. Go into the Inbox (using Messaging and not TF3D) and delete this email or mark it as read. That should fix it.

I have a similar problem, my diamond says no accounts when i have an account, its an OMA, account if I click on messages i can see the email but in touchflo it says no account... I have tried messing around with the phone but i can not get it to display the envelope like before, any ideas, please advise...

This happened to me too today. What had happened was that Shozu dropped an email in the main messaging inbox. Deleted that and good to go. Well, good to go after having to re-add my accounts since I deleted those thinking something was "stuck" with one of them
I had this earlier today and after much faffing about i managed to sort this, i believe this is a fault with windows mobile and not touch flo. what i did was go to settings go to the personal tab > today > items tab under that i removed touchflo 3d and enabled messaging instead. go back to the homescreen and it should display 1 new email click on that and then delete the message. then reverse the process to get touchflo 3d back. hope this helps

I also had this problem and was fixed following the above steps. As it said somewhere in this thread MS Outlook creates an email 'Tips and tricks..' and in my case was an unread email. Deleted the email and everything is ok now.
hy guys,
I have a touch diamond and configured an imap account. So far so good.
My Phone showed me several unread messages. So I went online and read those messages with my browser (also imap) marking all messages read.
The little account icon shows no new messages now, but the flow scroll bar shows 1 unread.
Does anybody habe a clue? HTC wants me to ship the phone to them for repair....
Firmware is original HTC latest version from their website.

I forgot to mention, that deleting the account doesn't change a thing. Even without an email account it shows the green dot with the white 1 in it.

I think I had that too. If I'm not mistaken there was an unsent message somewhere... Just check all possible folders (of ALL accounts), maybe you can find it..

Who would have thought, that there was an unread message in the NOT used exchange (windows mail) account.

So, my problem is that every time I receive a new message in hotmail, I read it and delete it. And, each time I delete a message at the top of the list, a new message appears from the end of my inbox. The trouble is, the old message appears as new at the bottom of my message list. Is there a setting that I am missing?

Go into your settings in the hotmail account, and check never for update frequency. Then log into your account on your computer and delete the emails. I was having the same problem with aol account, I deleted the emails like 10 times and they kept coming back, so thats what I did. Once you delete them on your computer they might come back one more time, but after you delete them this time they won't come back.
