I got tomtom 7 running on my herald, including maps
However I cannot get mapshare or Tomtom Home (2.3) to run properly.
TomTom home installs fine, but does not recognise my device and so I cannot update my maps.
did anybody here get it working on a herald?
GPS
Hi.
Sorry I don't have a solution to your problem, instead I have a question for you.
Are you using an bluetooth gps?
If so, what make and model?
Would you recommend the same?
Thanks
Chris.
is use keychain gps 2000 with an MTK chipset.
it's fast and accurate and (for me) most important: it's small. MTK is a very good chipset. i would definatively recommend it.
i use it as a keychain on my carkeys, very handy good reception, no need to put it under the windshield.

other devices with the mtk chipset:
qstartz bt-q818 extreme is supposed to be very good
good sites with good reviews: www.gpspassion.com

I've recently purchased an EverMore GM-R900 GPS receiver, connected to the 750v serial port through a mini-DIN adapter (which also includes power input from the car adapter). The question is : how do I map the serial (data) to make it available to other apps (other than active sync, which seems to be the only user of the serial...) ? I tried with GPS Gate but unsuccessfully, I cant find the correct source. Has anybody experienced something similar, yet? Perhaps with some carholder with integrated gps?
UP! C'mon.....is there a way? I've also tried with gpsgate but maybe I'm using the wrong parameters....... I've tried (from WM gps config) to map every port but I'm not getting a thing on any of them. The antenna itself seems to be working.
Still No GPS Device Found
Hi Guys,
Thanks in advance, i have gone through this site numerous times but still haven't been able to get my TomTom working on my new Treo750 and Ox-XDA IIs both running WM6.
I have GPS receiver in my cradle which works like a jam on my previous Treo650 (Running PalmOS). But since upgrading to this WM device it has become a night mare can't get it right particularly the way windows is handling com ports.
Can any one please guide me on how to get it going as I don't have PDA with in-build GPS receiver nor bluetooth receiver only this serial connected receiver.
Thanks
Nilesh
not sure i understood
If you have the tom tom software from your 650 and you are trying to use it on wm6 ,it is more than liely a software problem.
i have tom tom running on my 750,with a sirfstar 3 bluetooth gps unit, with no problems but the software came with the device.
If I am not mistaken tom tom allow you a device change every so often, in which case you will be able to download the correct software for your device.
I'd like to use my diamond as a bluetooth/USB gps and get connected to my laptop. Due too its bigger screensize, viewing maps on laptop got to be nicer, but then how ??? Any clues smart guys???

Thanks bro, I'm gonna get it
You could also try GpsGate for PCC and PC..
Works great for me.
Hmm... I never even realised you could do this. Saves me buying a separate BT GPS receiver for my CarPC.
One question, how do you actually set this up over Bluetooth? It just asks me to pick a BT port, but I have no idea which port to use.
it's said that autoroute 2007 works on the PC, i'll give it a go
Someone knows if it's possible use touch pro as gps antenna for notebook pc?

Hi,
my ME176CX has Lollipop 5.0 newest version from ASUS.
The device is rooted.
From the list of features of this tablet:
GPS
GLONASS
Compass
Magnetic field sensor
Accelerometer
3-Axis positioning sensor
The Compass seems to be hrrrrrmmm "uncalibrated" (read: wrong), but is does something.
The 3-axis positioning sensor seems to work
Accelerometer...dont know how to check for that.
GPS? GLONASS?
Currently: No, nothing...no satellites found, no sync...nothing.
I tried some basic GPS apps...but (as said) nothing.
I definetly DONT want Google maps (and even if I want it, I cant...bad luck with WiFi on my PC).
And for me it is a contradiction to need Wifi when using GPS.
What happens to GPS/GLONASS on this tablet? Dead?
Is there any app with offline Openstreet map support AND the possibility to put the
maps manually onto the tablet's external sdcard?
Thank you very much for any sync on a GPS/GLONASS satellite !
Best regards,
tuxic
Possibility of getting GPS working?
What are the chances of getting GPS working on the Fire? The info thread has a post saying the chip in it is a MediaTek MT8127 and links to the spec page which says it has GPS on the chip, as well as an FM receiver. Curious if it requires dedicated antenna connections that aren't there on the Fire, or if it's ready to go hardware-wise and just requires something on the software side? Would be pretty awesome to get it working and use these as a dedicated car tablet, especially now that cm12.1 is booting on it thanks to ggow, and the upcoming Black Friday $35 price.
GPS would require it's own antenna (plus a couple of supporting components) since it's a different frequency than wifi/bluetooth. So even if the chip includes GPS we can't use it.
Tho in your scenario of a dedicated car tablet you should be able to use a cheap usb GPS dongle. The fire has USB host.
Use TetherGPS Works great.
