Question about Reg file and Video converter - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello guys (and girls)
I have 2 small questions that i hope you can help me with.
* First Question,
After flashing my rom i always do a view reg-edits that i want changed.
now i was thinking......
i know i can make a file that i can open and it will do the changes for me on my PC.
But i wonder if this is also possible for my diamond.
And if so.... how?
* Second question,
Does anyone know of a easy and free converter that can convert a video to a smaller size for me to watch on my diamond?
Thank you....
Alex

For the registry, I'd suggest you look at the UC related threadsm as (even if your ROM isn't UC capable you can still use the cab making techniques to apply changes)
As for the video compression, it depends on what format you want at the end. I use DivX encoder to convert videos to AVIs and scale them to QVGA for my Prophet, and then play them in TCPMP.
UC info is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337

Mplayer has been ported to WM. See here.
It looks promising on my Vox and Kaiser although I couldn't get RTSP streaming to work.

Are you sure you aren't behind a firewall / in a NAT zone? This might have been one of the reasons. (The other is that it isn't indeed supported.)

How to get dvd films onto my kaiser?

Ok I am a newcomer so many of you may think this a simple question ..but .. how can I transfer my dvd films onto my kaiser? I have read a few threads about converting video formats and have downloaded a copy of Pocket Divx which I hope is a step in the right direction. What now? I admit to being confused by talk of bit rates etc so can someone provide a simple step by step method? What about copyright protection - is it possible to copy feature film dvds anyway, must be way I suppose. Optimistic thanks in advance.
http://www.pocketgear.com/en_US/html/display_product.jsp?id=prod5790538
It converts to WMV so no need for DIVX.
Try reading some of these guides. www.videohelp.com is a great website full of guides.
If you want though there are programs out there that can directly do this for you and optimize it for mobile phone screens but i havent encountered any that are free. PocketDivxEncoder is useful if you already have avi movies that you want to re-encode into a more mobile friendly resolution and/or bitrate.
Hope this helps.
edit: Im assuming here that you want them in AVI's. You can play AVI's on a pocket pc with TCPMP. Google for it if you dont have it.
thank you for the link Slave1, had a look at the software, no mention of WM6 compatability - will it work, any idea?
thank you too for the link ga41. Will have a look see later when I'm not supposed to be working. (I'm self employed and my boss has work avoidance guilt issues.)
Try a converter named 'SUPER'...it converts video to any format and lets u control the frame rates, size etc....
For any other converter u already have :
1.] Start the converter software > open any video u want to convert (either drag and drop OR using File>Open>....)
2.] Adjust the settings for video conversion....for the kaiser, Size: 240 x 320 pixels,Frame rate : 30 fps,Format of video :H.264/MPEG 4/WMV (these r the basic settings,play around later for advanced settings)
3.] Press convert for the finished product and transfer it to ur Kaiser....Enjoy!!
[Copy right protection depends,if ur converter can load the video and convert it then i dun think there shoud b a problem....]

I doesn need to be WM 6 compatible....jus the encoded video should be supported by WM 6....H.263,H.264, MPEG4,WMV are supported formats for WM 6....if u want divx support try the player TCPMP....

thanks mickey. have just seen this on the coreplayer forum.
There are a couple of references to you tube. Don't know if it will make things easier in relation to youtube. Am keen to try it when I have time today.
anyone try it yet? Hows the performance of the HQ youtube?
I am playing with it right now. It seems great at first but for me the youtube videos never load. I just get the CorePlayer's "I am thinking spinner" then it never loads, I gave the last video almost 20 minutes and it never loaded. I am on a good wifi connection so I can't see why it wouldn't.
any one else get this issue?
I get YouTube videos but the buffering really sucks. Is there some setting to help with buffering?
I guess from reading on their forums it is a known problem and they are looking into the buffering issues. Also some out of sync issues also seem to be common.
I was able to get mine to work when putting it on the high setting butI think thats where I get the buffering problem. Ohhh well, it works a little bit. I am going to try it out on 3g on my way home to see if it goes any better.
i'm having problem to load the youtube too.. the 'spinning circle' keeps spinning .. i fail even i have changed and tried few settings.. i'm using Dopod 838 pro..
change the setting to high, I tried med (default) then low thinking it would help but the high actually is what works for me on my wifi connection
can someone with coreplayer please try this link and tell me if it works with coreplayer? Thanks!

No, I'm pretty sure that's a Stream the World link, requiring a flash player. Core Player won't handle this stream, and I'm not aware of any other players that will handle this type of stream. But here's a link to KBKS (106.1 Kiss FM in Seattle) that will work with Windows Mobile streaming players, including TCPMP (free), GSPlayer (also free), Core Player, etc.

I will ignore this post
Still waiting for Handango & Corecodec providing the V1.2.1 upgrade (Handango even still not offers this one) so this 1.2.2 version is a long term wish for me...was it not that ..
Just to keep potential purchasers on Handango aware.
EDIT: An answer cam through from handango regarding this , old and future Coreplayer updates:
Hello xxx,
I receive information for our content team and its seem that I will have to forward customers over to the developer in order for you to receive an upgrade to your software. I will contact them once again to help you obtain this software. At this time we are working with the developer end to obtain the update software to post on our site. I am sorry to make you go through these email back and forth.
Sincerely,
xxxx
As far as the 1.2.2 release concerns, I red here, and I saw on a friends device that Youtube buffering indeed underperforms under Wifi. H264 or lower Q seems not to impact. Did someone tried a bigger buffer?
the av. stream used here was around 500 kb/sec, so it is not the width which plays a rol.
Just sound
I am trying to see a video but i only get sound, no image, just a black screen. Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks in advance
theres no point in using this player until it is out of beta...or upgraded to atleast realplayer or WMP quality....watching youtube on tcmp .072 is the best way to go for now...even watching avi's and dvds on tcmp are solid...coreplayer just isnt rdy yet

After all the drivers and discussions...Can any1 play videos well on a Kaiser?

Hey guys
Title says it all
I was wondering, after all the new drivers that have been released and all the discussions has any1 actually been able to use the Kaiser as a decent video player??
Ive been trying, tweaking Core Player, trying different drivers, different setting when i encode etc etc... But i cant get the video to play smoothly! I still get "tearing" between scenes... Its just not a pleasure to watch
Anyone else had more luck of late??
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357330
So i guess then the short answer is... No??
I see that Core Player has its own codec or whatever it is, meant specially for the Qualcomm CPU, to try and get adequate video performance out of it... But for some reason when i use "video output QTV" i just get a purple block on the screen and audio!!!
Of the remaining options, Directdraw, raw framebuffer and GDI, does any1 know what the pros and cons are? Do any seem to work better than the rest??
Will try the MP4 tip tonight and see if it helps!
I can play YouTube stuff just fine on my Tilt with the newest TCPMP. Haven't tried other stuff yet.

I use coreplayer version 1.2.2 and QTV display driver delivers up to 70% better performance than TCPMP. Try to find a solution to your problem on coreplayer forum.
Where did you get the 70% number from?
Im not sure if this helps...but
I converted a few movies that I had downloaded a while back thru windows media player...I think Pulp Fiction or something. It played just fine. Great video, great audio, good synchronization. Really impressive. All this on AT&T Tilt.
Keep working on it or flash a ROM since most have the support u need to watch the video. Honestly, u would probably benefit from reading the forums for about flashing a ROM than to mess with new codecs and other drivers.
Have u tried downloading TCPMP and core player. Install both. Then open TCPMP in background. Now open ur windows media player and try to play a video.
Now if u can stream videos from ninjavideo.net ur doing better than I
Cheers

Found this on the CorePlayer forums....Seems ambiguous at best...
http://forum.corecodec.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1044
It seems that they have an option to enable "TyTN II driver mode" but they dont actually support the processor in the TyTN II...Odd!!
Apparently version 1.2.5 has a fix for the black screen in QTV mode (on WM 6.1 ROMs) does any1 have 1.2.5 to verify this??
That's right, they've fixed it.

There's a benchmark option in coreplayer. Play an avi file first on QTV driver and then on Rawframe buffer you'll see the difference. Than if you're still not convinced you can play the same file in TCPMP on rawframebuffer and compare the results.
Youtube w/ the new manilla 2d works flawlessly for me, as does any .flv i just plop on the phone (without re-encoding). Streaming mobitv is a bit laggy. But other then that my video runs great. For awhile quicksilverscreen was working str8 off the website too. (seems to not be working atm however).
I installed no new video drivers or anything just manilla2d. .flv has always worked since i installed the tmpg stuff.
Yes I Can!!!!
Just installed Core Player 1.25 and it works PERFECTLY!!!!
QTV works in the new ROMs in V1.25 and it plays my videos perfectly! Benchmarking, my frame rates arent much different to the RAW buffer, but the videos visually play better, there is no tearing as scenes change, they look great....
V1.25 does the trick!!!

here is what i think of from the top of my head...qtv is one of the options in the video driver selection in Coreplayer...Coreplayer is the paid version of tcpmp...From my experience, it really smoothens out the transition of scenes in this mode, but it also depends on how the video is encoded I think, coz' the movies I had encoded much earlier which i used with my treo 650 were still choppy even with the qtv display....But my recent acquisition, Ironman, it plays quite flawlessly...
v 1.25 refers to the latest version of Coreplayer, which fixes most of the bugs of earlier version...You can scope it out at corecodec.com, but sadly there is no trial version for it though so if you really want to watch and play videos on your tilt, it might be worth it for you...
As to the youtube videos, you can either:
Buy and use Coreplayer
Download the Youtube player extracted from the opal
Use the recomp version of tcpmp, the orginal won't work on the 6.1 so look for the recomp
Or if you wanna show off a bit on the bus or something, download opera 9.5 and flashlite 3.1, The flash vid will play as a part of the web page....

Need help, HTC touch pro video converter.

Hello, I need help, I have HTC touch pro, and wanna watch video, but I don't know video converter programs, can you give my link?
Try out this:

http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478050
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112
They are all for free.
Which ones quality/size ratio is highest? I've been using pocketdivx but if other give better results why not change...
You should give 'Double Twist' a try
It doesn't give you a ton of options if you want the video in a certain format, but it's extremely easy to use.
Just plug your phone in (and let activesync/WMDC sync it) and it will show up in double twist. Than you just drag and drop a video on your phone - it converts it and transfers it to your video folder!
Couldn't be easier.
The one in this link is the best I ever used; simple, fast and good quality. I really recommend it. For the Touch Pro I always use 640x480 resolution.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467112
Try Format Factory. It's free and you can convert just about anything. I've used it for a while and I don't have any complaints
i use coreplayer.. what format should i use so i can watch videos without it skipping?
