Need some help with a SD card please - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Two days ago and while I was synchronicing the phone it had a crash and all of the files on the micro SD card were deleted or at least that was what I thought, I reinstalled the apps....no problem there, but to my surprise I loosed around one giga or maybe more of space on the SD according to the phone.
I have explored for files and the sum of my real files is not bigger than 2G, but the phone keeps saying there's only 200 mb remaining of space remaining on the card. Is a format the only way to go? Any advice? Thanks !

Copy all the files from the card to your PC with a reader, format, copy the files back. You can try a scandisk before, but I wouldn't even bother.

memory card not being read

i have an att tilt and twice now it has stopped reading the files on my memory card and wont let me use any of the programs or access files on the storage card. it knows there is a storage card in the phone and shows that memory has been used on it from the files that i can not get to. i think this has happened twice now after hard resetting my phone; however i have tried not doing so with the storage card in the phone after the first time. the only way i was able to correct this was by reformatting the storage card but that meant i lost all the files, i have tried using rescuepro deluxe because thats what sandisk would have told me to use to recover files off a damage harddrive but that didnt work at all as it wouldnt look toward the storage card when i put it into my computer. i am wondering if there is a way to get my phone to recognize the files on the storage card again, i cant view anything when i go to file explorer-->storage card....i really dont want to have to reformat the storage card again because that means i lose all my files and stuff if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.
thanks

Problem with Micro sd card

I have AT&T Tilt with Sakajati's HyperDragon IV Windows Mobile 6.1 OS ROM, I also have this 8 GB micro SD card, which has around 3.5 GB of data, but for some reason I am not able to write on it any more. When ever I tried to format it I get this message which says " The card is write protected" I don't remember putting any password or anything. I can read data from that card on any computer or phone, but can write anymore data on the card. I can't delete anything from the card either.
Can someone suggest what could be wrong with the card and how can I unlock it?
I have tried low level format also, the format completes without any error, but when see in file explorer all the files are still there. If I try to format from SD formatter, I get error "The memory card is write protected", windows format doesn't give any error, just runs and in the end says "Windows can't comeplte the format". Card is working file and have no problem in reading the data it has, just can't write new one ot delete old one.
This is very weird problem... any help/comment is good.
Not sure if this will help....
I've had very similar issues over time...
Because of high TomTom & Music Use.
Both are loaded and work off my SD Card (6 GB worth)
What I finally found that worked for me, was to get a 2nd card and backing up my SD card to my Desktop PC, so later I could transfer to the 2nd SD Card when needed.
Then I do a Complete Format [Full FAT32 Format] of the old SD Card, via the Mini SD adapter on my Desktop PC.
I found that formating within the phone doesn't always work...
If this is not the case I can think of 2 other reasons for potential problems..
~Some ROM's require the removal of SIM & SD Cards when installing?
~If you were using an adapter formating the SD Card and it was not set to write mode?
Best of Luck!
JAC,
Thanks for your reply, but I have already tried FAT32 formatting using micro sd card, but as I said before, but it errored out.I even tried low level format, but didn't work. There is no locking swithc or anythign in micro SD card, not sure how the data can be locked. If it was ecrypted I was not able to read data on other devices. So what happened? Any help!!!
Like everything else, sometimes things just wear out, break or are just low quality to begin with. If you can read it on other devices, then transfer it and get a new card.
There is also a trick used by nefarious suppliers that takes a 4GB (or any size chip) and format it in a way that it appears as a larger chip. Then when you go to write to it the whole thing goes crazy.
This is why I recommend using reputable resellers and buying good quality Name Brand Chips, Like Sandisk or Kingston.

How do I transfer files from old SD to new SD Card

Transfering from stock 4GB to Kingston 16GB class 4. I am becoming very frustrated as this has turned into a whole day event.
What I have done. I copied all files from 4GB onto laptop. I then copied those to the 16GB. Attempted to insert and I got an SD card error on the N1 and it asked me to format. I erased all then formatted on windows (fat32) im not sure what that means but I heard it round these parts. I then copied all onto 16GB and I am still getting an error. The card will work when blank in the phone but when I copy files it shoots me the damaged SD error. Am I missing something here. Also at times during the copy paste process I get numerous errors on file transfer that I end up just skipping. Sorry, I did search but not too good due to my frustration.

Bad card if you get write errors.

Where did you buy the card? Sounds like it's bad.. If it was too cheap, it was probably not a 16G card... Although 32G is the new size to rip people off on, I'm sure there are still fake 16G's out there.
i got it on ebay for $33. They card works but the problem seems to lie when I transfer and put in the phone. If its empty it works... but when copied and pasted files back onto my 4GB I had no issues. Empty it works fine and shows 15.59GB free
thanks for the input...guess Ill return and buy an actual card from Best Buy or something unless some 1 has an reliable sight thats not too expensive.
Maybe try formatting in the phone first (with whatever format it uses) then connecting it to pc and copying files to it?

[Q] Lexar 32Gb micro SD Card HC Class 10

I have the above memory card for my N7000 (Rocket Rom v3) and am having problems verifying its capacity.
H2testw (Windows utility) verified it as having no errors and as 32Gb
ES File Explorer's SD card analyst displays capacity as 11.06Gb
SD Tools displays capacity as 11.6Gb
I have tried copying music (21Gb) to the sdcard using two methods. Firstly connecting the phone as a media device which was very slow and started to throw up errors after a while. Then secondly by removing the SD card from the phone and plugging it into my laptop (Win7) which was far quicker. This second method didn't throw up any errors BUT when I put the card back into my phone no files were found!
I am beginning to think I have a fake SD card which when plugged straight into my laptop is telling it 'Yes I'm a 32GB card' but for some strange reason allows it to copy too many files to the card without complaint. I am going to do some tests to check this out.
In the meantime is there an alternative utility which is guaranteed to verify what my card is either on Android or MS?
Thanks
Please try to do a SD card format on your laptop before putting it in your phone
It might be an issue with its storage that is preventing android from detecting the full size
If that didn't work, try to format the memory card over the phone (using settings)
Best of luck

Okay there were 2 problems, the first one was getting the memory card to be read by my note which I've now managed to do, not sure what I did but there you go, but it certainly wasn't reading before.
The second problem and this is a little embarrassing but when ES File Explorer opens up it displays the contents of the "/sdcard/" by default which on my old desire was the external sdcard but on my note its the internal memory! Not the external sdcard! To view the external sdcard you need to navigate to "/storage/extSdCard/" which is downright misleading unless you come from a Unix mindset of course
SDTools just seems incapable of picking up the external SD card and can only see the internal memory.

[Q] is my SD card really dead?

Hi guys, I have a 64GB SanDisk Ultra MicroSD class 10 card. I use it on my Samsung Galaxy s3. Couple of days ago I went to my friend and ask him to give me some movies. He was sending it via data cable but we got frustrated and we had to go somewhere so in the middle of transferring data he unplugged the cable and now my SDcard isn't working anymore. I mean can it be damaged just because we unplugged it in the middle of transferring? I've done it so many times before but it wasn't really a problem. Anyway I'll try to explain what I did with my card since then and what was it's response.
1. The data in the card is intact, I've backed it up as well and when I put my card into my phone it works perfectly. (btw the card was in FAT32 format)
2. I can copy stuff into my card but when I put into my phone it wouldn't show and when I put it back on card reader again the file disappears.
3. I can delete stuff from my card then I take it out and put it back again and the file that I've just deleted comes back.
4. I've tried formatting it but it would give me an error.
5. I've used Easeus partition manager but it would give me an error as well.
6. Then I've used the software I've used when I first formatted the card to FAT32. Guiformat. It would format my card normally but when I go into my card all the files are there.
7. I've tried using commands like "chkdsk d:/r or chkdsk d:/f etc but after like 44% it would say certain files are invalid and can't continue the do the checkdisk command (the file it shows was the files I tried to get from my friend)
8. I've tried so many other stuffs but none of them seems to able to format my card.
now my question to you guys is my card really dead? can it be dead just for interrupting file transfer? is there any way to get my card back to normal? anyway I can format my card? I'd really appreciate it if any of you guys can help. Thanks
