Hello guys,
for the last 20' i am searching the forum but i cant find an answer.
Is there a tweak for the diamond to be able to write in landscape? The landscape mode of other phones is sooooo nice, that it is for me a major factor in selecting the phone i am going to purchase. Makes the SMS life so much easier...
Download GSen from the sticky thread at the top of the forum. Then you can just turn the phone sideways to switch any app into landscape mode.
Enable Manual Screen Rotation (Portrait/Landscape): HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (change from 1 to 0)
After this, you can map the long press key to <Rotate>.....I go into sms, press the answer button for a sec...everything goes into landscape....exiting the program takes me back to portrait on the today screen. My only gripe is that it rotates only clockwise. I would rather it rotate the other way but it works.
Your other option is to try Gsen and use the G Sensor to rotate the screen. I have not tried it yet as I have read that some have experienced bugs.

I must say though that texting using the WM6.1 qwerty keyboard isn't too hard. I dont have fat fingers though.

yup just what i was gonna say, and it works well, i believe you can also manually rotate the screen in the options menu (there is a tweak for this listed in the tweaks thread i think) but i just use GSEN since it lets you rotate any app just by tilting the phone

Ok in my zeal to change the registry..I am not use to this keyboard on board and I change the registry right below this GDI-rotation-hideorientationUI...what was the name and value right below this? I can't believe I did that.

I'm about to ask the same question.
Gsen is a nice application. But I only want landscape when messaging. Is there a better way to activate the rotation when I;m messaging and deactivate when I exit messaging.
remove all other values in the gsen config and keep the one for sms.

If you mean LandscapeFixed, which is what is below it on mine the value should be 1.

Hello bro, your instruction is clear. But for a beginner like me, I do not know what is the .exe file to include in the gsenconfig (file name in WM6 for messaging application)

i have the sprint diamond and i got it to work, i set the long key by going :
start > settings > buttons > now where is says "2. assign a program" you need to scroll all the way up the list to find "<Rotate Screen>"
its like this because the list is in alphabetical order and characters come before letters.
hope this helped!

How come Gsen works with my "Programs" but nothing else.. it wont rotate in texts or nething else.. wtf.
Gsen hasn't been updated in an eternity.
I recommend Brins0net_Gyrator:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427805
Still in very much active development and in a much more usable and configurable state than Gsen.

I just installed TomTom 6 on my Diamond, all is working well but I can't seem to force the display to rotate 90 degrees to landscape orientation.
On my Wizard I always programmed one of my hardware buttons to <rotate screen>. There's only one button to program (the green phone button) on the Diamond, but the <rotate screen> option is not available!
Any thoughts?
Have you tried to install SPB pocket plus and use the built-in shortcut to rotate the screen? It should work... or so i hope

Wow nice app!
Ill try it out on my wife's Diamond to see if it will force rotate (and hopefully remain rotated after a reboot/restart).
I was hoping on a more elegant solution, other than having to install a whole new app just to enable screen rotation!
You know what, I'll fire up the WM6 SDK and program a TT6 launcher myself Let me know if anyone's interested so we can gather some tips and other useful input on this.
I used quicktime but it messed up my taskbar, my close programs icon was gone
needed to hard reset
On the Diamond the screen options under settings do not include the Landscape / Portrait wwitch. Is there any way to force the device to Landscape?
you can force Landscape / Portrait with "WisBar Advance"
Or with QuickMenu...
yeah, personally I have this switch mapped to win-logo long press in QuickMenu
Found this, posted somewhere odd

The Touch Diamond does not show the WM screen rotation under settings so we can't manually set rotation for apps like Word, SMS. Here is how to enable it. After you've done the hack, run the app you want to rotate (eg. Word Mobile), then do Start, Settings, System, Screen to set rotation to landscape. The onscreen keyboard is much larger in landscape! When you click the HOME key it will go back to portrait.
Enable Manual Screen Rotation (Portrait/Landscape):
HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (change from 1 to 0)
Change is immediate effectively. No reboot is required.

confirmed, this works.
HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation :
LandscapeFixed: set to "0" ( default is "1" )
extends options to:
Portrait
Landscape (right-handed)
Landscape (left-handed)
cool, thanks - this is handy for me being lefty; any chance of disabling the right-handed option forever?
You can do just what you want using Mortscript...
And the script should run automatically everytime you reboot your device....

i also set this up. works only on home page. f in an app, i get this new never efore seen menu that says \
Copy
Cut
Paste
Select All
Select all + copy
select all + cut
Undo
If we now can activate it from the system eventually we'll get to know how to use the acceleremoter in whole system or atleast in whole TF3D.
woho, nice to hear that the edit menu works on diamond too, cause it's dunno why not working for me. this is great feature of quickmenu allowing you to manipulate with the clipboard whenever you're in an editbox.
It would be nice to have G-sensor to automatically rotates screen in all apps. I'm sure that there is a way, registry entry perhaps.
You can, using this app:

Works like a charm

1.) Give Google a try and search for TF3D Config!
2.) go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430174
or
1.) go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492132 (what I did , month ago ...)
I searched but with no luck.
I would love to rotate the screen (manually or just by rotating the device) 90 degrees so I get the wide keyboard. It's much easier to type on and I text a ton. It looks like it's possible because you can rotate Opera and use the wide keyboard.
Thanks for any insight.
Try searching for an App called Gsen in the Themes, Applications and Software forum

Nice, thanks. However I just got a US version of the Diamond and it has rom version 1.93.422.4 WWE. I guess I'll just have to wait.
doesn't GSEN work with that ROM? you can try manual screen rotation.

It says "Not working on HTC Touch Pro with ROM version 1.90.0.0 or newer and HTC Touch Diamond with Telus ROM." on the first post ...
I tried it but it didn't work. Manual screen rotation?
Yep, I used Advanced Config to enable screen orientation (think its just a regisrtry key change) and assign long button press as a shortcut.

You need to enable screen rotation before that option appears.

changescreen should be fine. for further settigns pm me
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation
HideOrientationUI from 1 to 0
then START - settings - Buttons
And then if you hold call button then your screnn rotate.
gyrator 2 is also a very good program but it is not able to turn the touchflo userinterface but everything other it rotates with ease (including textmessaging etc.)
i cant really seem to either understand or find this directory "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation" ? is there a possible cahnce that you could specify it a little more so that even i understand? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation

It is not a directory, you have to edit registry with registry editor program "REGEDIT" or some else.
If you are in registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation) then you have to change key "HideOrientationUI" from 1 to 0.

To get the action screen you have to install touchflo3d from touch pro. Of course you have to enable rotation like other posters said.

Go to and regedit
HkLM/System/GDI/Rotation/camAppActive and change it to 1
And the screen wont rotate but if you soft reset or enter x1 camera the screen should rotate again.
